New blood joins this earth And quickly he's subdued Through constant pained disgrace The young boy learns their rules They left him alone that day. They didn't jump on the playground, they didn't hunt for him among the halls, the classrooms. Nothing. This scared him. Eight year old Aki Mugen was always scared, but today was just...terrifying. It was a Friday, a day to rejoice for the coming weekend that was only a few mere hours away. There was a test on Monday, and his class had spent the entire afternoon preparing for it. He would pass it with flying colors, as expected. But he would study all weekend anyway, just to be sure. With time the child draws in This whipping boy done no wrong Deprived of all his thoughts The young man struggles on and on, he's known But he had to get home first. The bullies would surely get him long before then. The blue haired boy was the last to leave the classroom after the final bell, creeping down the halls and out the front doors of the school. Aki gripped the straps of his backpack tightly as he walked down the road, grey eyes constantly glancing around for any sign for trouble. So far...nothing. It wouldn't be long before they did show up. It was only a matter of time. A vow unto his own That never from this day His will they'll take away The young boy made his way down the roads as fast as he could without running. By the time he walked onto the main dirt road leading home, he was already out of breath and had to go at a snail's pace. Aki was never strong, never had enough stamina to last him during anything. At least his parent's did not expect him to pass P.E., but his GPA would still suffer from it anyway. No wonder the bullies could so easily beat him, the boy was nothing but skin and bones. Which means he had to hurry, before they came. But luck was not on his side. What I've felt What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown "Mugen!" Aki's breath caught in his throat, and without even acknowledging the call, he broke into a sprint. However, it hardly lasted, he barely got anywhere without running short of breath, and the group of older boys had him surrounded. He could do nothing but cower before them, looking up at them with fearful eyes. Never be Never see Won't see what might have been "Where you going Mugen? Running home to study more?" "Nerd!" "What's wrong, not afraid of us are you?" "He's a skinny little chicken!" "Look at him, he's shaking!" "Little chicken! Little chicken!" He stared at the ground, a mad blush spreading across his face. Their insults were...unoriginal. It wouldn't be the first time they had called him such things. If anything, they were being nice today. For now. He didn't try to escape, just stood there and took it. They would tire of him soon enough. What I've felt What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown "Hey Mugen, why don't you try and run again? Maybe you'll actually out run a slug!" a boy jeered, the others howling with laughter. Aki still said nothing. "Hey Mugen, talk why don't you?" the boy asked again, jabbing a pudgy finger at his bony chest. still nothing. "I'm talking to you, Mugen. Answer back!" the boy screeched, pushing the younger lad to the ground forcefully when Aki once again refused to speak. As soon as his frail body hit the ground, they all gathered around him close, like vultures at the remains of an animal carcass. Never free Never me So I dub the unforgiven And in came the punching, the kicking, the wailing. A flurry of arms and legs descending upon the poor boy. The older boys laughed as they went about his punishment, and Aki could only shield himself the best he could. Finally, oh finally, they began to let up. One by one, they dispersed. The last boy gave him a final, solid kick to the stomach and left. Aki lay there on the road, covered in dirt and now sporting several new bruises. His whole...everywhere hurt. The young boy painfully picked himself and limped home, knowing that if he took too long to get there, a more horrible punishment would be placed upon him. They dedicate their lives To running out of his He tries to please them all This bitter man he is It took forever, but he finally reached his mailbox at least. Aki pushed open the front gate and hobbled to the door. Standing at the porch, the dug through his backpack, eventually finding his house key and letting himself in. It was dark inside, and there was no noise save for him shuffling across the floor to the stairs. "What happened to you?" Aki jumped, wincing in pain and whirled around. Oh no. "Nothing, Father" he mumbled, his head bowing, gaze on the ground. "Oh? Doesn't look like it. What happened Aki?" Hageshii asked again coolly. Aki gulped, too terribly afraid to tell the truth. "I-I-I-I.....I tripped" the boy lied. Silence. "Tripped you say? On what?" "A-a-a-a-a.....rock....a lot of...rocks....". More silence. There was no point in lying, he was caught. Now he would be in trouble for being late, coming home filthy, and lying. "Ah, I see. Well then, you better get cleaned up" Hageshii said, nodding in dismissal. "Yes, Father" Aki murmured, bowing. He sat down on the bottom step and pulled off his shoes before rising and climbing up the staircase. "Oh and Aki, no dinner for tonight. That's for lying to me. And...don't leave your room all night. If you do...I'll know. See you at breakfast tomorrow, if I feel like it" ".....Yes, Father. Good night, sir" the boy replied and hurried up and away. He flung his door open, but closed it gently behind him. He tossed his bag aside, and lied down atop his bed, curling up into a tight, little ball, and finally began to cry. Throughout his life the same He's battled constantly This fight he cannot win |

(((please keep in mind, for this post, that in countries like China and Japan, reputation is very important, as well as good education))) Two years after last flashback A tired man they see no longer cares The old man then prepares To die regretfully That old man here is me F. Another....F. Ten year old Aki Mugen stared at the test before him with terror. Not again, no not again. He scanned over his answer, his terror growing at all the red marks that dotted, no, covered his test paper. But he...he spent all night studying for that test. As of now, he was only running on two hours of sleep. He had fallen asleep at..five..and then his alarm went off at....seven....and it was almost three-thirty.....oh, no wonder. What I've felt What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown And then at the very bottom of the page, dear god no, his teacher recommended tutoring. Tutoring! No, no, no, no, Aki Mugen did not need to be tutored. He was at the top of his class, no other student could compare to him. At least, that's how it used to be until a few months ago. Now, Aki was in danger of failing, possibly even having to repeat his current grade. Unacceptable. That was, the last thing he wanted to do. Would never be allowed to do. Never be Never see Won't see what might have been "And remember students, report cards go out tomorrow. Have a nice day" the teacher said, the bell ringing loudly. Chairs scraped against the floor and there was a flurry of movement all over the classroom. Slowly the room emptied out, save for the teacher and Aki. He was still slumped in his seat, staring at his failed test. "Aki, is there something wrong?" he was asked. He shook his head, gathered up his things, and slowly shuffled out of the classroom. What I've felt What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown He was still staring at his paper when they caught up to him. They swarmed around him, falling into step with him, stupid looks on their faces. Aki ignored them, but had a bad feeling that things were only going to get worse in a matter of moments. They whispered among themselves, fingers jabbing at the paper in his hands. Particularly around the big fat red F at the top of the page. Never free Never me So I dub the unforgiven They left him alone soon after that. They knew by now that with something like that in his hands, whatever they could inflict would be no match for what was in store at home. With every step he took, Aki's heart pounded harder and harder against his chest, dread filling him. When he did reach home, nothing happened. He kept the test hidden, threw it in the trashcan as soon as he was safe in his room, and took a long, long nap. It was dark when he awoke, and the boy quickly went back to sleep. You labelled me I'll label you So I dub the unforgiven The next day however, was possibly one of the most dreadful days of his young life. He knew his report card was in the mail, knew his parents would have it before he could even walk through the front door. Aki's life was over. The school day crept by, and once again, the boy found himself on the familiar road to not his house, but to his doom. The bullies once again congregated around him, all chanting the same thing over and over again. "Dead man walking. Dead man walking. Dead man walking" -------- She was waiting for him on the stairs when Aki came home, a glass of whine in hand, and a smug look on her face. Lara Mugen just shook her head at him as he closed the door behind him, taking a small sip of wine, the smugness never fading. "What are you smiling about?" Aki inquired, incredible wary of anything that his mother would say or do. "You're in trouble" Lara answered in a sing-song voice, followed by a knowing giggle. Aki froze and his heart plummeted. "Got your report card today. All Fs. Recommended for tutoring, study classes, so on and so on. Daddy's been waiting for you. He's in the den, don't keep him waiting" she continued, motioning to the said room. The boy didn't move, only looking at the great oak doors a few mere feet away. "Well go on, get it over with. Do or die time, baby" "Shut up" Aki hissed under his breath, kicking off his shoes and throwing his bag aside. "Deep breaths, deep breaths" he thought to himself, and slowly inched his way over. His hand rested on the handle of the door, his knuckles pale. The boy made his way into the den, the door sliding shut behind him. Hageshii lounged on the loveseat, a glass of wine in his hand as well. A piece of paper was lying on the floor, and Aki knew what it was. "Explain to me" Hageshii suddenly said without looking at him, staring hard at the wall. "Explain what, sir?" "You know damn well what I'm talking about" "Oh..that....um....I...I just...I..." "Just what, Aki? Just wanted to become a bigger disgrace? A bigger waste of my time?" Hageshii roared at him, causing the boy to flinch. He opened his mouth to say something in his defense, but nothing came out. "Do you know how bad this is going to look? Make all of us look? It's not going to be pretty, I hope you understand that!" "I send you to your room to study, boy. What were you possibly doing up there? Well I found out. All your little gizmos and machines and the likes. Is that what you been doing? Shirking off your responsibility to play with toys?" No, that wasn't entirely true. Aki's inventions were wonderful things, all hand made. He had worked hours on a lot of those things, and still had time to study. There was just...other things going on. "But no matter, I fixed the problem" his father suddenly said, sounding relaxed, yet proud of himself. Aki stared at him, confused. "What do you mean?" "Go look. Cause now...you have all the time in the world to pick yourself up. After you clean your room" was the response. As soon as the words were said, Aki was out the door, up the stairs, past his mother, and into his room. It was trashed. Electronic bits all over the floor, wires everywhere, cords, various bits of metal. His robots shattered, blueprints torn apart. Utter destruction everywhere he looked. The boy sank to his knees, but did not cry. "I helped him. It was fun!" Lara called out, then began to laugh in her drunken stupor. No....... |

Please do not ever perform the following under any circumstances. The views of the following character do not mirror my own. thank you for your understanding P.S you might cry. maybe)) Another two years or so after the last flashback Pride you took Pride you feel Pride that you felt when you'd kneel It...had taken him some time to realize it, and the wait was absolutely killer. Killer, ha. How...had he been enduring it the entire time? Almost twelve years now, it would be in a week. Funny, he was the only one who actually remembered his own birthday. As far as Lara knew, he was still eight. Stupid, stupid woman. Oh he could sit there all night and think about it. And he would. He didn't plan on going to school tomorrow, no more of that. He snickered to himself, the day's homework he didn't so, the homework he'd never turn in. After tonight, he'd never ever have to work again. Ever. Hooray. Not the word Not the love Not what you thought from above Lara...he would think about her for a time. The woman he had been forced to call mother all these years. She was...such a terrible human being. She followed her husband around like a chick after a hen. Did whatever he told her to do, agreed with his every word. And when she didn't have him around? Lara was so stuck-up, so incredibly self-interested. The world had to drop dead for her, she was so damn spoiled. It made him sick. She hated being a mother, she told him enough times before. Lara was disgusting, openly flirting with other men, calling him her "nephew" instead of son. Aki hated her, just absolutely hated her. But after tonight, she wouldn't have to worry about him ever again. It feeds It grows It clouds all that you will know Deceit Deceive Decide just what you believe But he did fear one thing: Hageshii. That man, his tormentor. Always expecting too much, asking too much, pushing him too far. What if...what if he failed tonight? Then he'd face his father's wrath. No...no he shouldn't be afraid. Not anymore. Hageshii didn't have control over him, he wouldn't after this. No one was going to make him study for hours on end for a test next week. No one would punish him for the slightest of things. No one would ever do this to him. Ever. Again. I see faith in your eyes Never you hear the discouraging lies I hear faith in your cries Broken is the promise, betrayal The healing hand held back by the deepened nail Follow the god that failed It was....just so terrible though. He was still so young, and yet he realized it all. How his parents couldn't care less about him as a person. Oh no, they just wanted him to save their reputations. After all, it was totally his fault that he was born. It was a very conscious decision at the time, one he made just to spite them. Aki hated it, hated being their scapegoat. They never did anything for him. Even when he came home utterly filthy and beaten, they turned a blind eye. "Go clean up" they said, but never tried to help him. Sickening. Find your peace Find your say Find the smooth road on your way Trust you gave A child to save Left you cold and him in grave He tried, he really did. He...had been amazing in school. Top of his classes, all straight As, save for P.E.. He went unmatched for years and then....Aki wasn't really sure about what happened, but it did and...he never recovered from it. He came an F student and then slowly back to....Cs and Bs. Sure, most kids would have been happy with that but not Aki. Expectations were too high. Every report card that came in instantly went into the trash. They stopped caring. And finally, he did too. I see faith in your eyes Never you hear the discouraging lies I hear faith in your cries Broken is the promise, betrayal The healing hand held back by the deepened nail Follow the god that failed Yes, he did stop caring. Right now. End it all. He could. He would. He knew how. Aki slipped out of bed, walked to the door and pulled it open. He made his way downstairs, not caring about how much noise he made. Let them hear. See how much they care when blood spills. He entered the kitchen, flipping on lights as he made his way to the counter. The microwave clock read five forty-five in the morning. It was that time already? Had he really been up all night mulling over his choice? Was it really worth it? Oh yes, it so would be. The knife rack, out he pulled the biggest butcher knife they had. Never been used before, Lara bought it because the set "matched" the kitchen. Funny how its first use would be to end his life. Absolutely hilarious. But now that the knife was in his hand....could he really go through with it? Yes, he had to. There was nothing for him here. Not before, not now, not ever! He just needed a mark, the perfect place to make the final cut. Slice his own neck? No...he didn't think he could do that. Go into the bathroom and let himself bleed out? No, that would take too long. What, just what? "Aki?" Lara...had he really been making that much noise. But if she was here...oh it didn't matter anymore, he had an audience. "Hello Lara. Don't mind me, just go back to bed" Aki said, turning to face his mother, an almost devilish grin forming on his face. "Aki...what are...why do you have that knife?" she asked, her eyes widening. "Because, Lara, I'm about to do what you didn't almost twelve years ago" he sneered, taking the knife in both hands now and turning the blade towards him. "Aki no! No don't do it, Aki...Aki...Aki!!" Her words lost on him, she couldn't run over in time. He felt something cold enter him, and suddenly an explosion of pain slicing through him. Not good enough. Lara tried to get it back out, tried to pry his hands away from it. He dug the knife in more, trying to focus on the pain, the pain, the pain. A pain he had yet to feel before. What was the point of being smart at this age if he could realize all the horrible things that went on in his world? He didn't even feel himself sinking to the floor, just hardness and coolness. Lara was hovering over him, screaming about something. Hageshii might have walked in at one point. He was out cold by the time the paramedics arrived. Darkness.....sweet bliss. ------------------ Aki woke up in the hospital a two days later. |
