AUTUMN MASQUERADE
<br>Autumn 23rd;; Year 08 || 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM
<br>Atmosphere: Mysterious<br><br>

The Autumn Masquerade is a ball hosted at the Mayor’s home on the night of the twenty-third. A dress code, formalwear is required, as is a mask that is fits securely over your eyes and nose. Other than that, one is free to explore as many of the costume options out there, from ballroom regalia to masked heroes. One can view it as a formal follow-up to the Renaissance Fair a week earlier.<br><br>

In honour of the event, the estate has been decked out like never before (unless you were here last year), from a distance it emits a soft, unearthly glow. A great effort has been made to make the estate look as if it has been lit by a perfectly natural light. An enormous crystal chandelier hangs in the ballroom, glittering and swaying with the music, flashes of colours from the moving bodies below dance through the individual stones. The entire lobby has been cleared and decked out for the event, leaving ample space for dancers and a live band, well-versed in classic ballroom numbers. The band has set up in the east corner of the room, and has a stereo system if any more modern songs are requested. The furnishings have been removed and replaced with new chairs and lights that reflect a high-class European elegance.<br><br>

The north wall has several tables set up, with a buffet available for any who get peckish during the night. As per usual, the mayor has wasted no expense in providing food. Selections from a medley of courses are available, punch can be found under a handsome ice sculpture of the Harvest Goddess. At the far corner of the table there is a chocolate fountain, with strawberries, cheese, and other assorted snacks around it, ready for the dipping. On the table’s other side, a staff member is in charge of distributing the alcoholic drinks.<br><br>

The entrance of the estate has been rearranged and made into a sitting area, allowing those with two left feet to not feel too out of place throughout the night. Another, smaller, chandelier is in here. This is also where the Mayor can be found, unmasked and ready to meet and greet his guests as he always is. If the inside gets too crowded, guests can take a stroll in the garden, where fairy lights have been set up to light up the pathways.<br><br>

At midnight, the Mayor will ask everyone to please remove their masks and reveal their identity.<br>

This was probably going to be the most fun she’d had since moving to Obsidian, Pink Diamond thought to herself. It wasn’t that she hadn’t had any fun at all since moving here. There were lots of good memories to enjoy and be thankful for, but she didn’t think she’d done anything this extravagant since moving to this tiny little island. It was exciting and fun and reminded her of home a little bit. Admittedly, there were actually some things Pink Diamond missed about her old home.

She looked behind her to see if Tuxedo Mask was with her as she entered the ballroom of the estate, but she didn’t see him. He’d better not have chickened out at the last minute and decided to sneak home unnoticed! she thought to herself with a slight frown, adjusting the glittery pink mask adorned with flowing white ribbons. She’d spent all day on the mainland with him, helping him pick out something classy and fun at the same time. She actually thought she had more fun shopping for Tuxedo Mask’s costume than for her own… though she had still loved picking out her own dress and accessories. It wasn’t very often that Pink Diamond got an excuse to get all dolled up and fancy like this so she’d spent a lot of time finding something really nice to wear… but cheap. Thank goodness for thrift shops. You could find some really valuable, high-quality stuff for dirt cheap just because someone decided they didn’t want it anymore and donated it.

Well, even if Tuxedo Mask had decided to ditch, Pink Diamond was still going to enjoy herself. This was a rare opportunity and besides, if she made a complete idiot of herself, she was wearing a mask, anyway. No one would have any idea who she was. She actually wasn’t entirely sure if she could dance well. She’d never really tried and the kind of dancing that was considered “good” back home, Pink Diamond would consider to be skanky. Hopefully if someone asked her to dance, she wouldn’t end up making the poor guy regret it.

She looked around for Tuxedo Mask again but he was apparently either lost in the crowd somewhere or had stealthily snuck home. Oh well. If he’s here, he’ll find me. I think I’m one of the only people wearing hot pink and I’m near the entrance, anyway, she figured before going to explore the lovely, ambient atmosphere.

”You know this is a horrible idea.” The taller girl said as she stepped from the crowd and into the common area of the mayor’s estate. It was funny really but in all her years living here on the island this was the first time she had been to one of the mayor’s little parties. Of course out of all the ones she could have attended the masquerade was definitely the last one she would have ever expected to be found at.

”I look ridiculous and the name that you picked for me, the Queen of Diamonds? …It sounds like I’m a freaking super hero or something. Do we have to use them Miss…Forest Princess?” Diamonds took a long look around the estate and sighed. How did she get dragged into this? This party, all these people laughing and having fun, it just wasn’t her at all and yet here she was dressed up like some loon and feeling very out of place. If it weren’t for this stupid mask and no one being able to figure who she was there would have been no way that she would have been caught dead in this place.

A younger girl with a definite forest theme joined the tall queen as she stepped from the crowd and brushed an errant strand of her brown hair behind her ear. ”Oh quit your complainin. We’re here to have fun and if you don’t let yourself enjoy this you are going to be miserable all night…and yes we have to use the names. You wouldn’t want anyone finding out who you really were before the right time would you?” The Forest Princess was getting pretty tired of her companion’s constant complaints. It had been hard enough to convince her to come at all but if she was going to have to listen to this all night then she was going to die.

The Queen of Diamonds sighed. Maybe she should relax a little. She was here now and she couldn’t just leave the younger girl behind so she might as well enjoy herself. Still, with all these people around that was going to be easier said than done. She was better off finding a nice quiet spot where she could just sit back and wait out the evening until it was time to go. The princess was right about one thing though, Diamonds was glad that no one knew who she was. ”Alright I’ll drop it but don’t expect me to get out on the dance floor with you are anything. I look foolish enough in this dress you got me.”

”You look fine. That dress was made for you and you need to enjoy it…but if you really don’t want to show it off and just go hide in a corner I won’t stop you.” The princess said as she rolled her eyes. ”I, on the other hand, am going to have the time of life.” With that the brown haired girl adjusted her leaf mask and ran out on the dance floor leaving her companion to her own devices.

Watching the shorter girl go the Queen of Diamonds couldn’t help but give a little smile. Just because she had to be miserable didn’t mean that her brown haired companion did. She did hope that at least one of them would be able to enjoy the night and it might as well be the girl that had actually been looking forward to attending in the first place. At least now she would get off Diamonds’ back about coming to this ridiculous event.

The Forest Princess wasted no time jumping into action. Of course she didn’t really know how to dance but that didn’t matter much. She was sure that there were some more people here tonight that were like her and just wanted to have a good time. One of them might even be an extremely hot guy and that would definitely add some excitement to the evening. Until that time though she would just have to deal with being herself which at the moment looked quite foolish strutting around the dance floor like she owned the place.

Well the princess could have her dancing and partying if that was what she wanted Diamonds was going to look for a calmer environment. Maybe she could find a nice quiet spot and get some reading in or something. With that thought fresh on her mind she turned to walk further into the estate towards the food tables. At least this way she could escape the majority of the revelers and possibly a large majority of the jerks who were probably looking for easy dates. This was going to be a long night and a little snack might be just what she needed to brighten her mood.

This was a rather new experience. Usually when he attended these dress-up gala events, he served food and drinks, sometimes acting as security. But tonight, he was attending a masquerade as a guest instead. Tonight some other sucker had to work while he went off and played fancy. Damn, he should get out more often! He really would love to, except there simply weren't enough nighttime festivals for him to attend. Unless it was a festival he could really get into, he didn't go. Why? His worst enemy existed during the daytime, threatening to destroy him with all it's terrible might.

But tonight was his chance! And there was no way he'd miss a night like this. A masquerade, when was the last time he worked at one of those? These sort of dances were just his thing! The mask, a flowy cape with a hood pulled over his eyes, yeah this was the shiz. Preferabley, a nice jacket would have been nice, but the cape felt so fancy. Perhaps after this was a over, he could go running with the cape flying behind him. That would be super cool!

He passed the mayor on his way in, glad he was finally able to see the man himself for once. Such a jolly little fellow the mayor was! The little guy was at the door, greeting everyone as they walked in. Well, that was awfully nice of him! He strolled past the mayor, shooting the man a smile when he was greeted with a hearty hello. Once he was inside, awe replaced that smile. The whole placed was decked out all European style, it looked super high class!

But where was the food? He made is way past the dancing crowd, towards the wall that was lined up with tables full of food. Lushish, mouthwatering food! Where to begin? There was so much to eat, and so little time. Sit here and eat all night, he might miss out on a chance to possibly get a dance from a girl. Wait, did he come here to dance? No, not really. This was just a night to get out of his cave and have fun, right? Yeah sure, that works. What was he doing again? Oh right, food! Must devour!

That's right, the Brother in the Hood was here. Or maybe Brother-Hood....that worked!

Diamonds grabbed a plate and started to go down one of the large tables full of food to pick out some treats…or at least that’s what she would have done had someone not flown past her to get to the front of the line nearly knocking her over in the process. Was she invisible now or something? Unfortunately she didn’t get a good look at the person who cut her off. The person’s face had been covered by a big black hood that ended in a long flowing cape. However, it did look like the figure of a man.

’How fortunate. I haven’t even been here ten minutes and I’m already making friends. If this weren’t such a public event I would have half a mind to clobber that jerk.’ She wasn’t going to do anything of the sort however because she didn’t want to cause a scene. As much as she liked to talk the talk she really wasn’t much of a fighter. Violence wasn’t really her thing. Still, she couldn’t just let something like that go and if no one else was going to say something she figured it might as well be her.

“Hey buddy other people are trying to walk here too. The food is still going to be there in a few minutes you know? You don’t have to run everybody over to get there.” The words came out sounding a little colder than she had intended and Diamonds immediately regretted saying them as soon as they left her mouth. She didn’t know this person’s situation. They might just be really hungry. Of course that still didn’t mean they could just push everyone aside to get to the front of the line but her words probably still came out as a little harsh. Maybe it was just the mask and the anonymity that had given her a bit more courage than she usually had.

This was not a good way to start out her evening. While Forest was out there having fun she was over here making a few enemies by insulting the other guests. If things continued like this she would probably be lucky if she wasn’t thrown out of the party for causing trouble. She felt so ashamed that she would actually do something like that but there was no way to take it back now. The best thing she could hope for now was that the guy in the hood hadn’t heard her.

Oh my God, it's magnificent.

He grinned from ear to ear as he strode toward the estate, flipping his hair out of his face as he did so, It was a little nippy tonight, of course, but with an outfit like his he supposed that it was to be expected. At least it wasn't raining...or snowing. On a night like this, one couldn't put anything out of sight or mind into the realm of impossibility.

As it was, he wore a pair of skinny black jeans and a black leather vest, along with a pair of black ankle-boots that the jeans flared out over the top of. Oh yes. He looked very thoroughly homosexual tonight, and it was absolutely delicious. It meant the ladies wouldn't be expecting him at all.

Then again, he considered as he slid through the door, his hand brushing high along the doorframe to allow another individual to pass beneath it, no doubt in search of fresh air, what was he here for tonight anyway? To meet a pretty new girl for his life? To bro up with a couple of dudes or something who couldn't get a chick to save their lives? To chum up with the Mayor over by the punch? He really didn't know. All he was aware of was the fact that he needed to get out a little. He needed to exercise those socializing muscles that he hadn't been using up until now. They were quietly waiting for a conversational partner -- or eight -- for the evening.

The first thing he registered was a tremendous pink eyesore right near the door. Holy shit. He blinked rapidly to clear the tears gathering in his eyes, even reaching up to nudge them away before they stained the silky fabric of his mask. That was just not okay. You couldn't run around here wearing shit like that and expecting it to just be OKAY. Seriously.

Poor girl. Wearing something like that meant she'd probably not get a single second of attention paid to her tonight. Best to rescue her, right? As he approached her, he considered the fact that it was a relief that her hair was the shade that it was. It was one of his greatest turn-offs and meant that he'd more than likely avoid getting slapped for anything his subconscious wouldn't pass by him before ejecting it out his mouth.

"You, uh, looking to blind someone tonight?" he chirped as he paused beside her, cocking an eyebrow beneath his mask as he grinned broadly. "That's a hell of a lot of pink you got on there." His eyes stayed on her face, however, even as he gestured vaguely to the dress. "Sort of like you're saying 'Hey, man, why don't you just forget about seeing anything for the next eight years, cool? I'm gonna put on the most obnoxious color known to man.'" He had the vague feeling that she'd probably glare at him before stomping away with a huff, but fine, let her. He'd probably just follow her, since he was doing her such a kind favor as it was.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pink Diamond turned around at the sound of someone's voice behind her. The tone was light and cheery, but the words spoken definitely were not. She came face-to-face with a man in a black mask, wearing the most hideous outfit she'd ever seen in her life... and where Pink Diamond was from, that was saying a great deal. He was clad all his black leather with bellbottom flares and pointed boots. Hadn't full-body leather stopped being cool in the eighties? Vaguely, Pink Diamond wondered if he was a transvestite. Not that she had a problem with that; it was more his attitude she had an issue with.

She looked down at her outfit with a small frown, nervously smoothing down the front of her dress with shaking hands. She was wearing her favorite color, but... maybe it really was too bright. Now that she was looking at herself in this lighting, she didn't think her shoes really matched, either. Maybe she had gone overboard with the mask and makeup and hair, too. "Um... blind? No, it's just... my favorite color... so..." Pink Diamond stammered out a hesitant response, still self-consciously smoothing things and patting the slightly puffy skirt of her dress down.

"Sort of like you're saying 'Hey, man, why don't you just forget about seeing anything for the next eight years, cool? I'm gonna put on the most obnoxious color known to man,'" the man grinned at her and Pink Diamond's cheeks flushed a humiliated scarlet, looking down and rubbing her shoulder. Suddenly, all those long weeks of combing every thrift shop she could find on the mainland to put together something really nice for this night seemed utterly foolish. She had thought she looked really pretty tonight, but now she felt like everyone was suddenly staring at her, and not because she had impressed them.

You're so stupid! Pink Diamonds yelled at herself. You shouldn't try to do things like this. You just end up looking stupid. You're probably the most ridiculous-looking person here tonight! She bit her lip, hanging her head and letting her blonde curls hide her red face. She just wanted to go home. She'd been stupid to think she should do stuff like this.

"I... thought it looked pretty, but... I'm sorry..." she mumbled, lightly clearing her throat and blinking quickly, but what was she apologizing for? What had she even done?

Mask
Dress

The Masquerade seemed to have become an annual event now. It took place year after year in the same season. Not that she minded. It was an interesting event, and a fun way to meet new people. The anonymity made it fun too.

The Black Swan looked around the room, seeing it was already rather crowded. Lots of different masks and costumes. Some more original than others. Seeing all the different types of outfits when she came here made it all the more interesting. She didn't dress up that often, either, so that was another reason.

Her eyes wandered to a woman who was totally decked out in pink. She looked cute, and the dress was lovely. She looked nice, so why not go over and converse, right?

As the Black Swan strolled over, someone else had walked up to her and apparently felt the need to comment negatively on her costume. Frowning slightly, she decided to step in.

"What are you, the fashion police?" she asked fairly casually, quirking a brow. "It's one thing if you're not fond of her costume, but, uh, why do you have to express that to them? I don't see the reason other than trying to upset someone, so unless the mayor established some kind of law against wearing pink or something, keep it to yourself." she finished, turning to the pink clad woman.

"Do you, uh, wanna go get something to drink with me?"she asked.

Pink Diamond didn't understand why this man had felt the need to come up to her and insult her outfit. Okay, sure, not everyone liked pink, but she did and she was the one wearing it, not him. Hadn't he ever been taught that whole "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" rule in kindergarten? Apparently not, but... what he said still hurt. Tuxedo Mask had assured her she looked nice before they had left. Had he been lying? She knew he wasn't exactly a fashion expert, but she also knew he liked to dress well. She still didn't see him around anywhere. Maybe he did ditch because he didn't want to be seen next to my ridiculousness, she told herself. If she looked nearly as awful as this leather-clad man said, she wouldn't blame him. They did have to reveal themselves at midnight, after all, but Pink Diamond was ready to just call it a night and go home. She hadn't been here for five minutes and she already felt like crap.

Pink Diamond opened her mouth to stammer out a weak "Excuse me, please," to the man harassing her, still staring at the floor with blurred vision when someone else approached them. This person was a woman wearing a black dress encrusted with a diamond shoulder strap. It was a little on the short side for Pink Diamond to wear, personally, but it was lovely and did look really nice on the woman.

Besides, the woman could have been stark naked for all Pink Diamond cared after she stepped in to defend her. "What are you, the fashion police?" she demanded of the man who had just insulted her outfit, telling the guy to back off and keep his rude comments to himself. Pink Diamond didn't know if she was more thankful or embarrassed. She was grateful for the backup, but they must be causing a commotion. She didn't dare look up to see who was staring at them, choosing to wrap her arms around herself self-consciously, instead.

"Do you, uh, wanna go get something to drink with me?" the woman asked her kindly and Pink Diamond finally did look up, shocked. She wasn't used to people coming to her rescue and then offering to hang out with her. Pink Diamond decided instantly that she liked this woman, whoever she was. This girl who was brave enough to stick up for a complete stranger like that. That didn't happen much where Pink Diamond was from.

Pink Diamond nodded, not trusting herself to speak in case the humiliated tears pricking the back of her eyes spilled over. She'd love to go get something to drink with this nice stranger. Anything to get away from this jerk who managed to make her feel awful about herself with a few nasty comments.

Pink Diamond, With A Rebel Yell

~*~*~*~*~*~

Well, this could be an interesting evening. The caped man adjusted his mask a bit, looking around the crowd. A formal masquerade ball. It had been forever since he'd done something like this, and he was looking forward to the night. He was a little nervous as well, however. But he supposed it was normal after several years of being away from this sort of setting. Glancing to his side, Tuxedo Mask looked for his companion, only to find she wasn't there. The man blinked, then looked around, a small frown coming to his face. Great... Now he'd lost his friend. Where had she gone?

He was tall enough to see over most of the crowd, but there were other people around his height, and there were so many masks... It was hard to spot out Pink Diamond from all the others in the crowd. Perhaps she was still near the entrance, then? He had immediately moved kind of to the side of the room upon entering it, so as to avoid most of the crowd. He had assumed she was with him, but apparently they had gotten separated.

You know better than to assume things. he silently scolded himself, making his way back toward the door. As he neared it was easy to spot the woman in pink. He felt a bit relieved until he saw the man with her. Tuxedo Mask looked the man over, frowning again. Though he could dismiss the ridiculous outfit on a night like tonight - people often took advantage of the fact no one knew who you were - he could not ignore the look on Pink Diamond’s face. Embarrassment… Lowering her head so her hair would hide her face. Messing with her dress and smoothing it down in nervousness.

He strode over purposefully, only catching the last bit of what the man was saying.

“…forget about seeing anything for the next eight years, cool? I’m gonna put on the most obnoxious color known to man.” The frown deepened as the woman began to apologize. Before he could get there, another lady stepped in. Well, that was good. Perhaps she wouldn’t be completely humiliated for the man’s asinine behavior. He reached them and put a hand on Pink Diamond’s shoulder, giving the other woman a small nod. “Is everything alright here?” The question was directed at Pink Diamond, but with the same sentence he was giving a warning to the other man with his tone of voice and cold gaze. Shape up or back off.

Pink Diamond was saved the added embarrassment of bursting into tears in front of this cruel, leather-wearing jerk by a hand resting on her shoulder. Startled from the unexpected touch and already nervous, Pink Diamond jumped slightly, her head jerking up in surprise, but relaxed when she saw who it was. So he hadn't left and ditched her, after all. She couldn't help but give Tuxedo Mask a relieved smile. She felt a little less vulnerable and afraid now that he was here. He always seemed to know exactly what to do at exactly the right moment. Sometimes, this could be just as unnerving as it was comforting, but right now, Pink Diamond found it comforting.

"Is everything alright here?" he asked in a cool tone. He was plainly talking to her, since she was the one who was distressed at the moment, but there was something about it that made Pink Diamond worry for the other man who had decided to harass her. Like he was being given a warning. Oh no... I didn't want to start anything! Pink Diamond thought tearfully to herself, fidgeting anxiously with the hem of her dress. I just wanted to walk away and go home. I didn't want to start a fight. She'd never taken Tuxedo Mask to be a violent person, but his tone still made her nervous, and she didn't know these other two people at all. They could have tempers on them for all she knew.

"I-It's fine..." she managed to nervously squeak out, returning her gaze to the floor because she felt dangerously close to crying again. She was very glad the lighting in this room was dim and her mask covered a good portion of her face, but if she actually started crying, it would still be noticeable. "I was... just saying goodbye to him and going to get a drink with this woman," Pink Diamond explained quietly in a voice that was only barely audible to the tall man standing behind her with his hand on her shoulder.

Pleasepleasepleasedon'tstartanythingIdidn'tmeantostartanything! the frantic voice inside her head pleaded. Look what I've done. I can't go anywhere without somehow managing to ruin everything for everyone else, Pink Diamonds thought miserably, biting down on her lower lip hard to try to subdue the tears that were still threatening to escape.

She looked hideous, she started an argument that wasn't necessary, she just ruined three other people's night with her stupidity and Pink Diamonds just wanted to go home so she could curl up with the cat on her bed and cry until she felt better.

No-Face. A rather simple and uncreative name but suited him nonetheless. As the young man was wearing a black, hooded mask that completely obscured his face and hair. No one should be able to recognize him at all, unless they were very familiar with his voice. This should be an interesting night… No-Face chuckled at the thought. These masquerades seemed to be a yearly thing now. It was time he attended one to see what all the hype was about.

Stepping into the estate, nodding to the mayor as he passed him by, No-Face looked about the room. Even through his dark mask, he could see the lovely soft lighting, the giant and extravagant chandelier hanging above their heads, (Which made No-Face worry a little about it falling.) the rather inviting buffet table, and, of course, the colorful crowd of masqueraders. Not quite in the mood to dance yet, No-Face looked from the large bowl of punch over to the man serving alcoholic beverages. Alchohol. That’d certainly get him in the right mood. And why not? It wasn’t like he’d get himself drunk or anything, and besides, this was a special occasion.

No-Face began to make his way through the crowd. Sensing tension, he glanced to the side to see a group that looked like they were in some sort of quarrel. Aw, come on, people… this event is for having a good time, not to worry about impressing people or to be a downer… He groaned inwardly, before continuing walking towards the table. No point getting involved, he figured. He actually came here to enjoy himself, not to be a busybody. And it looked like people were already stepping in anyway.

No-Face quirked a brow (Not like you could see it), when the staff member stared at him awkwardly after he had asked for a drink. He waited a few moments, wondering why the guy had hesitated. The staff member blinked a bit, before shaking his head and muttering the word ‘sorry’ as he poured a small glass. No-Face took the glass and headed over to a wall to lean on. That’s when it hit him. ”…. Aw, crap.” He muttered in irritation, staring at his glass. He sighed as he leaned against the wall. Nice going. What are you gonna do now? Drink it through your mask? What a drag. No-Face dully stared at his glass once more, watching ripples form in the liquor as he jiggled it slightly. He contemplated drinking it through his mask, but he’d probably look like a bloody idiot, and make a mess. Not that it really mattered when no one could see your face, but still…

Must to get to food, it was such amazing stuff, food was. Perhaps too amazing, as he barley took notice of anyone else in the room as he made his way to the tables. Well, he knew there were people there, but he really only saw them as obstacles that weren't meant to be avoided. Maybe he cut a few close corners, but he made sure he didn't actually smack into another warm body. Okay, perhaps he forgot to mutter a few quick "excuse me" or something, cause a girl he just flew past mutter something at him. He didn't catch all of it, but she sounded upset or...mad about it.

Brother-Hood slowed to a stop, turning to glance back at her. Holy bajeebers, she looked like a million bucks! Man, that chick could walk into a gala event, uninvited, and no one would care one bit. Now he felt like a dick for being rude to this girl, without even knowing exactly who he was brushing past. Well, now he had to fix that. He didn't want to ruin someone's night just because he was thinking with his stomach. Stupid stomach, no desert for you!

He stepped back, giving ample room for the girl move about. "Sorry, I didn't see you there. Guess I was just excited. My bad, really" he apologized, trying to sound completely sincere. He was, as this sort of behavior was just like him whenever he got excited. It could just be this island life. Too quiet, not enough action. Or not enough festivals that suited him, yeah that could be it.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuut that would be making excuses. Excuses making was not manly.

The Queen of Diamonds
Wearing
Mood: Nervous, Embarrassed, A little hungry
Tag: Brother-Hood

The hooded man seemed so focused on the food that Diamonds thought for a moment that he might not have heard her. That would have been a turn of good luck but just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief the man turned around to face her. The breath caught in her throat as she fully expected the man to fire back at her with some scalding comment of his own…but he didn’t. He just stood there looking at her for a moment. Honestly it made her a little self conscience and she began to shift nervously. Why was he staring at her like that anyways?

When a response finally did come it was not what Diamonds had expected at all. “umm…Don’t worry about it…” She stammered as she struggled to actually come up with a half way decent response. “It’s okay, really. It was a simple mistake, anyone could have done it.” With that said she tried flashing him a smile hoping that it wouldn’t show how embarrassed she felt but only succeeded in looking a little less nervous than she actually was.

“Sorry about going off on you like that. I’m L…uh…the Queen of Diamonds.” She said catching herself just before spoiling her big secret. Her identity wouldn’t be much of a mystery if she told everyone who she was within her first few minutes at the masquerade and if there was one thing she was sure of it was that she didn’t want anyone knowing her true identity. She was going to have to be more careful in the future.

The tall blonde let out a sigh. She didn’t want to leave things like this. The least she could do was be cordial to the guy. He had turned around to apologize to her after all and since they were probably going to be by each other as they went through the food line Diamonds thought it might have been better to insure that things went smoothly. “I guess you can just call me Diamonds. I’m not really big on the whole royalty thing. It’s…eh…not really my style.”

Green Macaw

Grinning wildly to herself, the Green Macaw skipped her way along the path leading up to the Mayor's Estate. Pausing at the entrance, she looked back over her shoulder for the man that was supposed to be accompanying her this evening – his alias was to be, 'Dark Night.' Very original, yes. Without her 'encouragement,' he would not have dared to come this evening. She was still worried that he would duck out at the last moment, but he had given his word that he would be there tonight. And he never went back on his word, this Green Macaw knew for a certainty. Even if it would be the end of him, as he was most likely thinking would be the scenario tonight.

Turning around to face the door, Green Macaw patted down her shimmery green dress, which fell to about halfway between her knees and ankles. On her feet were lovely red sandals; she wished they were yellow to add to the 'bird' effect, as the talons of birds were usually a yellow-orange, but alas, this red pair was the best she owned and she had spent all the rest of her limited money on the dress and mask. The mask, now, was quite awesome, in Green Macaw's own humble opinion. It was a green mask that covered a good portion of her face, with a yellow beak-like part of it that went out to cover most of the top of her nose. It also had a couple of green feathers on either side, too, to add to the 'bird effect.' All in all, Green Macaw was rather proud of her get-up tonight.

Entering the estate with her head held high – no mind the fact that she was a little late and most everyone was here already – Green Macaw walked right past the mayor, flashing him a bright smile, and entered the room with the dancing. Here she paused, because she was not supposed to dance with anyone until at least the one accompanying her showed up. That did not mean that she couldn't enjoy herself a little, though, and everyone's costumes were all so pretty! So many colors, so many shiny things, masks and dresses, all around. She was so glad her brother had let her come, even if it was only to be under the guardianship of Dark Night. Turning off to the side, Green Macaw, her hands held loosely in front of her, began to take a slow stroll around the edges of the room.
