Abort mission! Abort mission! This whole operation has been compromised! Just out of the blue, this guy, some random a** guy shows up and....talks to her! Blue Boy had to be a spy! Kadoodle felt he was! Who sent him, and why? WHY?! She was so unsure on how to react. No one had seemed to really care about her so far. Why him? Out of all these people, why the spy? She only started at him, her fear-filled face half hidden by her mask. What could she do? Most definitely not make a scene. Big Sister would kill her! Unless she pretended not to know her. Its happened before, and will happen again. Really, no one wanted to admit they were related to that!

"Um...yeah sure" Kadoodle agreed, gazing around the room to. Okay yes, this is a pretty party. And from his statement, it must have been equally better. Hm,it would have been interesting to see, indeed. To bad she didn't live here yet. Being able to see the island in a year is truly a wonderful treat. If they like it here, Kadoodle and her siblings would permanently move in. Just had to test the crowd. Would this guy ever be her neighbor? Maybe. Would he always be this....up front about things?

Ooh, the straight man. A good character quality in all comics. One was required when a comic centered around a general goofball protagonist. Hm, maybe she could pick up a few ideas off of this guy. But first, who was he? And what was his purpose? If it was to spy on her, then she'll flee faster than a gazelle escapes a cheetah. For dear freaking life. Don't look back, or death will surely catch up. Being tackled from behind wasn't the best way to go. Rather sad, actually.

Silently, Apatura let the Mysterious Nobleman lead her out near the middle of the dance floor. All the while she could feel her heart beating faster with every passing second. She was no longer embarrassed about the fact that she couldn't dance but she was slightly worried about what the young man would think of her here afterwards. Surely he wasn't anywhere near as bad as she, for Apatura was most positive that she would end up falling flat on her face some time or another while they tried to enjoy themselves. If it turned out to be true then she'd definitely have to disappear before midnight so she'd save herself from further humiliation.

The walk out to the dance floor seemed to last forever perhaps because she secretly still cared about what other's thought about her. It was a strange thing though because normally in her everyday life she didn't care about everyone's opinion about her. Why that was why she had worn her flat casual shoes with her big overly fluffy froufrou ball gown, although they did match somewhat in color, but what about her mask then? It didn't seem to be doing the job for her as it seemed to do for everyone else tonight, but rather the complete opposite really. It made no sense. The mask seemed to bring out the vulnerability she tried to keep hidden. If only she could throw off the mask now and be done with the whole thing.

It was too late to turn back now. The two of them were already on the dance floor and the the Mysterious Nobleman was being patient and waiting for her. Before beginning their first dance Apatura looked around at the other dancers. She quickly studied the women watching how they moved and where they had placed their hands on their partners. It didn't take but a few quick seconds before she thought she had it all down. So after turning back to the young man she gave him a weak smile then lifted one hand up placing it gently on his shoulder. Then the next thing she knew he had placed his hand over her own. At least they both had this part down but what about--and then they were off. Not too fast but then again they weren't moving slowly either. It was a nice easy pace that she could keep up with as she tried to follow his lead.

At first she kept her eyes on the ground trying her best not to step on the poor young gentleman, but once she seemed to get the jest of it Apatura felt relaxed enough and looked up with another smile although this one wasn't anywhere near as weak as the other. 'Not bad,' she thought, but a bit too soon for she ended up stepping on one of his feet for the first time. "Sorry 'bout that," Apatura said out loud while giving him an apologetic look before looking back down. Perhaps she had looked up from her own clumsy feet a bit too early. So for now she decided to keep her head down and her eyes focused on where her feet were being placed.

The nobleman watched Apatura with interest as they continued to dance together. She was so focused on not making a mistake that he didn’t see how she could be having any fun. He wished he could figure out some way to help her relax. It wasn’t like he was going to think badly of her because she couldn’t dance. As bad as he was at dancing he hardly even noticed if their timing was off or if one of them took a misstep. In fact had it not been for Apatura’s apology he probably wouldn’t even have thought about the fact that she had stepped on one of his feet. At least she was wearing flats and not high heels. “Hey!” He said trying to get her attention and then added in a reassuring voice. “You’re doing fine. Just have fun with it.”

If only he could figure out some way to get her to come out of her shell. It wasn’t like he hadn’t been making mistakes too. There wasn’t anything to be embarrassed about, nobody is perfect. You just had to be able to laugh at yourself. If you didn’t someone would surely laugh at you so you might as well beat them to the punch. Sometimes the best way of dealing with life’s twists and turns was to laugh at them but what could he do to help Apatura see that? What could he do to make her see it was okay not to be perfect?

As if on cue the nobleman received his answer. The curse of his clumsiness struck as he took a misstep and tripped over his own feet. He tried desperately to regain his balance but even holding on to his dance partner the way he was it turned out to be a fruitless attempt. He tumbled backwards to the floor and was just lucky enough not to bring down Apatura with him. ’Real smooth…’ He thought to himself as he fell hard on his back. This display of agility elicited a few chuckles from some of the more observant dancers but most were too involved in what they were doing to take too much notice of the struggles of a single individual which was good but didn’t sooth his aching back or his bruised ego. Still he decided that he would follow his own advice in this instance.

If the nobleman was embarrassed by his fall then he didn’t let it show but at that particular moment perhaps it was a good thing that he was wearing a mask as he could feel the slight heat rise on his cheeks. It was a good thing that the mask hadn’t fallen off when he tripped or else the story may well have been different.

The nobleman sat up rubbing the back of his head under his big top hat and looked up at Apatura with a goofy smile as if to say that he had meant to take the fall since the beginning. “I guess masks and fancy clothes don’t make people dance better after all huh? Maybe the dance floor is not the best place for two people who don’t know what they're doing.” He said with a chuckle. Oh well, so much for the young lady’s fairy tale evening. Maybe he could still salvage something of the night if Apatura wouldn’t be too embarrassed to hang out with him. He could certainly understand if she was but maybe she was a different kind of person.

If only she could dance correctly with such grace and poise as some others. The night would turn out to be much more charming as it was meant to be, even though she wasn't one much for romance. Only because she had yet to experience anything remotely close to it. All would be fine at the moment, she didn't expect much at her young age because most boys her age were still immature and shortsighted and there was no way she would ever go for an older man. Gross. But still, she could only hope to make it up to the young nobleman somehow. For he had already made her night by just walking up to her and saying hello.

So on she continued trying her best not to step on the gentleman's toes as they continued on dancing. She didn't have to concentrate too much longer for the young man himself somehow tripped over his own two feet falling backwards onto the floor, thankfully not brining Apatura down with him. But even though he had tried his hardest she still ended up on the floor by his side, however it was a move on her part that had been done on purpose. "Are ya alright?" she asked while down on her knees looking through his mask into his eyes and placing a hand on his arm. She was now trying her best to hold back a laugh and in doing so a smirk appeared on her lightly painted lips. The Mysterious Nobleman had saved her from embarrassment by falling before she had gone and done so. Now she owed him much more then before.

Apatura couldn't help but agree with him that the masks didn't seem to have any sort of magical powers, as most would hope for a night like tonight. Instead of transforming into a radiant graceful beauty she had fallen down the ladder becoming a shy clumsy mess. The dress didn't help much either but that was besides the point, unless he would accept an excuse on her part. So perhaps dancing wasn't their fortè, no big deal right? There were plenty of other things they could do tonight. There was still the delicious looking food and as he had suggested earlier they could tour the estate and besides, if she was able to relax throughout the night who wasn't to say they would try their hand again on the dance floor.

"How about getting something to eat? I'm sure your hungry after that astonishing fall," she teased still at his side on the floor. Eating was something she could do without making a complete fool of herself so surely it was their best bet at the moment. Then afterwards she wouldn't mind a leisurely walk through the grounds giving their stomaches time to settle down before continuing on with tonight's festivities.

With that settled she moved over a bit before trying to stand up. She had failed miserably though as her foot ended up stepping on the back of the bottom of her dress causing her to fall backwards herself. It hadn't been too big of a fall, since she hadn't even been standing fully upright before she took the tumble. So the girl soon found herself back at the side of her partner however this time she was sitting down next to him instead of kneeling. Had he not been the only one to notice Apatura would have been really embarrassed but instead of bringing herself down for the slight mishap she just smiled and soon found herself laughing out loud.

Well it hadn’t been the most graceful solution to their problem but as the nobleman looked over at Apatura he did notice that she seemed to be in better spirits which was good. Somehow they had both ended up sprawled on the floor despite his best efforts to save her. Had she fallen on purpose so that he wouldn’t be the only one on the floor? He was sure that he had done everything in his power to not pull her down on top of him but he guessed it didn’t matter at this point. Here they were two fish who had definitely found their way out of the water. Meeting Apatura’s gaze with his pale grey eyes he nodded at her question. “No permanent damage I think.” He said trying to contain his own laughter at the picture the two of them made. It was good to see her in a better mood. If one good thing could come out of the fall maybe this was it.

The nobleman chuckled at the girl’s teasing and gave a mock bow which looked kind of silly from his spot on the floor. “Naturally it takes a lot out of me to put on such a performance, getting something to eat sounds like a great idea.” Eating was good, it was safe. He was fairly sure he couldn’t mess up eating. Of course judging by his current luck anything was possible. At least he had found the one girl here tonight who didn’t seem to like she would be upset by taking a spill on the dance floor. For that he silently counted himself lucky. Had he been with someone who didn’t have a sense of humor he might have been spending the rest of the night alone.

It didn’t take long for the nobleman’s thoughts to return to his companion. She had fallen too after all and as she tried to get up herself she fell again. “Are you sure you’re okay? I would hate to have hurt you when we fell.” Her laughter answered the question for him though and, not being able to hold it in any longer, he joined in the laughter himself. Clearly they had found the perfect match for the evening. Still he didn’t want Apatura to attempt standing by herself again. The nobleman quickly got to his feet and offered the girl his hand. It couldn’t be easy to get off the floor in a dress like that so it was only natural that he would want to help.

Pulling his companion to her feet the nobleman made sure to wait for her to get her balance again. He didn’t want her falling back to the ground and taking him with her after all. They had spent enough time on the floor for one evening. The nobleman gave her a charming smile as he tried to stifle some of the last few giggles from their laughing fit. “Well we’ve discovered that we are completely lacking in any kind of dancing ability. Hopefully we will have better luck with our food. Shall we?” The nobleman extended his hand once more, offering her an escort as he led the way into the dining area.

That One Guy

That One Guy quirked a brow, why was this girl looking at him like he was some sort of bogey monster? He was pretty sure he was wearing a blue suit and, well, maybe the beak-mask was a little off-putting, but it was no reason for that sort of behaviour! His lips, half-obscured by his mask, curled into a friendly and amiable grin, just in case the girl thought he was going to do something weird to her. Masquerade or no masquerade, the masks would have to come off eventually. He didn’t want anyone to think he was some sort of creep who... prayed on young innocents or something. Heck no. “... Yeah,” he said, unable to think of a proper response. Don’t get too excited, now. he thought, observing the silver-haired woman.

Maybe she needed lightening up? Who knows why That One Guy was taking upon himself to do something that wasn’t his business in the slightest. He didn’t know what this girl’s face looked like, never mind what her name was or who she even was. But he’d done much more for strangers, he thought with a glance around. His sisters were still dancing, which was no surprise given he had left like a second ago, only for him to spot another sibling talking with a lady with enormous hair. Wow... was the only thing he could think. Some people really got into this thing, didn’t they?

Shrugging, he turned to face the woman again. “So, who’re you?” he asked, only to remember two things. One, this was a masquerade and she no doubt had an alias of some sort. Two, he hadn’t introducted himself. “Ahh, I’m... That One Guy!” he added in an attempt to correct this. What a cool name. He sounded like some internet celebrity, not exactly the epitome of cool. Sure, he had fans, but most of them would post on his videos “first!” rather than actually respond.

But whatever. He didn’t need a fancy name, the suit spoke for itself.

Was that really his alias? That One guy? Kadoodle couldn't help but giggle a bit. All thoughts, good and bad, were lost at that moment. She had some dude to laugh at. Her entire mood instantly changed to that of a flirty sixteen year old. Maybe this Guy wasn't that bad after all. Odd costume, odd name. Okay, yes, she looked a lot worse off. Rules said formal attire after all. "They" were just lucky she showed up in a dress! Of course, a blue suit was more of a fashion statement. And that mask! It rivals her sisters! Better keep him away from her, wherever the older girl may be. Teehee, that One guy. Big Brother would love this...Guy.

"Nice to meet you. I am the one, the only, the Grand Captain Kadoodle" the girl introduced herself, fists at her hips, chest puffed out and head tilted to the sky. Yes, the epic and heroic pose! It always comes with the introduction. "and you sir, are my new masquerade sidekick" she declared, holding out a gloved hand towards Guy. Can't be rude after all! This night had taken a turn for the worse, then better! Kadoodle could easily get a lot of great ideas for a character off this Guy. Plenty and plenty ideas! Depending on how interesting he is. If he didn't meet the requirements, she could always go "powder her nose" until the night was over. No, she couldn't do that! Now that she had taken an interest in him, she was curious as to see what lay hidden beneath his mask. Of course, the same would apply to her as well. Great heroes never show their true identity! Only certain cases. This party was one of those cases.

But playing mystery is so much fun! The suspense could kill! Like waiting for the next issue of your favorite comic book! Or any book in general. So could happen between volumes, trying to catch it all at once was mind blowing! Slow and steady wins the race! Ah ha!

Mysterious Noblewoman continued to babble awkwardly about all the reasons why he probably wouldn’t want her for a dance partner until the Mysterious Gray interjected her long, rather pointless ramble, extending a hand to her in a gentlemanly fashion that reminded Mysterious Noblewoman very strongly of 19th Century England, making her smile a little bit, despite her obvious humiliation and aggravation at how sour the night had turned so quickly for her. You never saw such displays of courtesy these days. She doubted very much that this sort of chivalrous display was common practice for this man in every day life, otherwise he might be met with rather strange looks and remarks, but she supposed that was what made masquerade night so special. You could be whoever you wanted to be behind the safety of a mask without worrying if you looked silly.

”When you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up,” Gray told her kindly and for once, Mysterious Noblewoman started to see the whole point of tonight. No one knew who she was here, she was wearing a mask that hid her face and so was everyone else. She wasn’t herself tonight. No one was. She could be whoever she wanted to be. That was the whole point of the masquerade, and she decided that tonight, she wasn’t her usual, fumbly, idiotic, socially inept self. She was Mysterious Noblewoman. A woman who carried herself with poise and grace and who was quite skilled in the art of dance and did so with such ease, it was second nature to her, as easy as breathing.

She might have still convinced herself to decline and go home, her newfound identity not yet solid, still very much fragile and hesitant and easily shattered with just the slightest hint of self-doubt if it weren’t for Gray’s gentle persuasiveness. "Miss, I doubt half of the people here are good at dancing or even know how to. But we all came here anyway to have a good time..." he pointed out and Mysterious Noblewoman had to let out a genuine smile of agreement. They did all come to have a good time. Even she had come here tonight with the hope that maybe… just maybe, she’d have some fun and be able to enjoy a night out like normal people. Behind her mask and alternate identity, Mysterious Noblewoman found herself to be brave enough to take a chance and do something she would ordinarily never even dream of doing; dancing at a fancy ball with a nice young man who actually seemed to enjoy her company, for whatever insane reason.

As if he knew he had won her over, Gray smiled warmly as Mysterious Noblewoman accepted his hand, albeit a bit hesitantly. Well then, I’ll lead,” he told her and Mysterious Noblewoman swallowed a sudden wave of self-doubt as she nodded.

Please don’t let me do anythin’ stupid, pease don’t let me do anythin’ stupid… she pleaded desperately with herself as she allowed him to lead her to the dance floor.

Indian Princess eyed all the other guests milling about with intense curiosity. Normally, she wouldn’t stare at people. It wasn’t polite to stare at others and her parents had raised her better than that, but how could she not look at all the splendour around her? Indian Princess had been to beautiful places before, but nothing ever quite like this. This was a whole new world full of a different kind of beauty that Indian Princess had never been able to experience first-hand: the excruciatingly detailed elegance of the décor, the plethora of lovely (and admittedly, absolutely ludicrous) costumes, the soft, classical music, the laughter and dancing. Besides, no one here knew who she was, and Indian Princess was free to hide her less-than-polite social gesture behind her anonymity. It wasn’t as though anyone else here seemed to mind being stared at, anyway. As far as Indian Princess could tell, everyone was staring openly at each other, full of the same curiosity about all the costumes here tonight as Indian Princess was. This was certainly a lot nicer than Indian Princess’ first experience of a social gathering on the island. She was glad to see not everyone on this island was as terrifyingly insane as the people she’d been exposed to on that night.

Briefly, she debated going to the bar for a drink. Something cold and refreshing since it was rather warm in this vast room filled with moving bodies, all giving off heat. Maybe lemonade or simply water. Indian Princess didn’t care to have any of the alcoholic beverages being offered, for more than one reason. She lifted her head, straining her neck slightly to see where the bar was and discovered to her discomfort that getting to the bar would require her to weave in between a massive sea of swirling costumes. That wasn’t something Indian Princess was keen on attempting. For one, she didn’t like being swallowed up in large crowds. For another, it was dangerous to attempt that sort of agility stunt, at least for her. It looked as though Indian Princess would have to make do without any refreshments. That was alright with her. It wasn’t an urgent matter and if she found herself in desperate need of a drink later on, she could always seek out her brother and ask him to come with her, though she’d probably feel rather guilty for doing so. He’d be able to make sure she didn’t get trampled over, at least.

Indian Princess remained where she was on the edge of the room, quietly observing the festivities and not at all bothered by the fact that she wasn’t a part of them. It was its own sort of entertainment, she supposed, people-watching. While normally quiet and observant, Indian Princess didn’t usually get to partake in people-watching of this nature, where she stared openly at passers-by as they went about their activities, not caring or minding that they were being eyed by a stranger.

Most noticeable among the crowd was the tall woman in the large, heavy ball gown and elaborately curled hair in an elegant pile on the top of her head. Indian Princess watched her at the bar with her glass of wine, seeming to do the same thing Indian Princess herself was doing by observing the crowd around her. She was struck with the thought of how awkward it would be if the woman were to turn her way and notice her staring and quickly turned away, her cheeks obtaining a slightly embarrassed pink tinge that was thankfully concealed beneath her mask.

She moved on to others in the swarming crowd, not noticing that the woman she’d been studying moments before had apparently seen her and was making her way towards her until she was directly in front of her, startling Indian Princess slightly, though she quickly got over the initial jolt of surprise and ducked her head low in embarrassment. She had obviously seen Indian Princess staring at her and had approached her to reprimand her. How humiliating. She should have known not to let all the splendorous glitter of the evening cloud her sensibilities like that. Indian Princess opened her mouth to offer a meek apology to the woman, but was interrupted before she managed to make a sound by the woman in front of her. “Good evening. I… like your dress. It’s certainly an interesting concept,” she told her with a smile of approval, much to Indian Princess’ surprise. She hadn’t expected to receive praise. How strange people here were.

”Oh. Thank you. It… is not mine. A friend’s,” she struggled to speak properly, her voice soft and her head still bowed out of mingled embarrassment and respect. ”Your dress is… lovely, also.” In fact, everything about this woman was lovely, from the hair to the hem of her dress that was concealing the shoes she was wearing, though Indian Princess assumed that they would be as lovely as the rest of her attire. Indian Princess’ sister had done up her hair in an elegant coil at the back of her head, fastening it with glittering clips and other beautiful ornaments that were also borrowed, but it was already beginning to fall out in messy wisps as Indian Princess’ fine obsidian strands had a habit of doing, which is why she rarely wore her hair up.

The Lady
Unregistered

The Lady smiled briefly, already at a loss for intelligent conversation. Perhaps she would resort to simply blubbering her lips for lack of a better thing to do. This was why she didn’t often do social events, they were always so difficult. You had to search for someone you know, and in a crowd this thick it was next to impossible to tell one body from the next. Not to mention the masks made it next to impossible to easily identify someone without staring at them for a good, long minute. And once you did find a companion, someone willing to speak with you for longer than a minute, you had to think of something to speak about. Again, masks made this difficult. Every asset of the Lady’s life, from her job to her friends, was wiped away. She was not to speak of them. Did this mean she had to fabricate her own life? She found herself wishing there were rules for this sort of thing, so she would not be standing here without a thing to say for the rest of the evening.

Thank you,” she said, smiling politely, gaze dropping to examine herself. No wine marks as of yet, good. “It was my mother’s, albeit with some adjustments.” She added, tugging once on her sleeve to examine the lace. She and her mother were hardly the same size, the Lady had spent ages taking in the waist and embroidering the front. She had patched up the edges, fixed frayed ends. Her mother had worn this when she was only her age, so time was bound to take its toll, as always.

She lifted her head, trying to discern a familiar body, but to no avail. Honestly the Lady would not be surprised if it was a crowd of strangers, she was not the most social of butterflies. At times she would glimpse someone who she appeared to know, only to be hopelessly wrong when she spotted a beard where there should be none, or hair that was the wrong colour, or perhaps they were just fat. Apparently she was no good at recognising people unless she saw their faces.

At the very least, she could say that she had not met the Indian Princess. Something told the Lady she would remember if she had met her. She had not met many women on the island as it was, and her current companion did not strike her as any of said acquaintances. Yet there was something oddly familiar about her, like the Lady had seen her in passing. It was a small island, if she had it would not be of great surprise, although perhaps a little odd when they did eventually meet in person. She raised her hand, resting it upon her shoulder so one finger idly twirled her spaniel curls.

This would all be so much easier if she had any idea how to converse with a complete stranger.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only woman here throwing myself at the nearest man? Wait, that did not sound polite, however true it might be. In fact... her eyes made another sweep of the ballroom to confirm her suspicions. Yes. Other than her, two girls dressed in blue, and some man with a complete face mask, she and her companion were the only two not paired up with someone of the opposite gender. The Lady wasn’t sure how to feel about that. Women these days could be so desperate, sometimes.

I can only dread what will happen when the night is over, and we have to walk back wearing what we have on,” the Lady remarked with a quiet laugh. Now she was just talking for the sake of it, which was never a good sign. “This might look warm, but the autumn breeze shoots right through it.” And from the looks of things, the Indian Princess was no better off.

That One Guy

That One Guy grinned, unperturbed by the fact that this girl was laughing at him. Could he really blame her? He was tall and lanky and wearing a bright blue suit, with a nose that would make Cyrano de Bergerac green with envy. Oh, and the name, that was pretty out there, too. Really, he was surprised she had the grace to hide her amusement at all. Shrugging his shoulders around in a circle, arms moving with them, he tilted his head to look down at the girl. Not exactly who he expected to spend his evening with, but the world worked in mysterious ways. That and his habit of approaching strangers without a thought as to social norms. This was a masquerade, right? Anything goes. There was a Batman lingering not too far from where he stood, so striking up a conversation with someone he didn’t know seemed fairly normal compared to the rest of the evening. And you can’t expect me to spend the rest of my night with my sisters, he thought, nudging his mask up his nose with his thumb.

It was getting somewhat sticky under there, That One Guy would just be glad when the night was over and the masks came off. Then maybe his face could breathe again. His gigantic nose didn’t help much, either. He had thought his regular nose to be a bit big, this thing obscured his vision so he had to tilt his head just so in order to see what was down his beak. Like this girl, for instance. It didn’t help that he was a little taller, either.

Another grin, his eyebrows raised in amusement. Grand Captain Kadoodle, huh. Okay, so in comparison That One Guy didn’t seem all that bad. Better an internet celebrity than a cereal mascot, right? He let out a short, bark-like laugh. “It’s great to meet you, too,” he said, still smirking behind his mask. It didn’t help that the girl proceeded to pose. He glanced around, as if expecting a fan to start blowing so her cape billowed out dramatically. As it was, it just hung there like a dead animal. Guess he had been watching too much television. But I’m not the only one, he noted.

Your sidekick, huh?” he said. That One Guy stuck out his own hand, taking hers and shaking it heartily, very much amused by this point. Now, he couldn’t say for sure, but he was under the impression that he was older than this girl. Maybe it was her height, maybe it was the outfit or the name or the fact that she reminded him of Jalila hopped up on comic books, he just thought he was older. So he smiled, and played along. “Sounds like a plan—what’s our first mission?” He raised his brow, glancing around, as if wondering what they could possible do here.

He didn’t see any Jokers or Lex Luthors around, so he was at something of a loss. Maybe he was the sidekick for a reason.

Wonderful, formalities were taken care of. Now time for some real buisness. The more time wasted, the more evil the villain had to perform. That simply will not fly with her. Kadoodle knew that having Guy at her side would aid finding this madman, and stopping him in his tracks. Even if they did lack an antagonist. No matter, there were more pressing matters at hand that needed to be dealt with. Like finding the perfect name for her brand new sidekick! Maybe...the Blue Toucan! Because he was wearing blue and his mask reminded her of a toucan. He'll need a cape, kinda like Batman's, which is perfect for gliding off of buildings. Of course, Kadoodle favored more flowy capes, like Superman's or...Mojo Jojo's. No matter where he is, the monkey's cape was always billowing in the wind. Even inside a building. Now that, is bada**. Nothing says "I'm cool" like a cape that flows everywhere. Almost cancels out the fact that his butt gets kicked by kindergartners.

"Our first mission is....um..." she trailed off, not knowing what to say exactly. A mission? Ooh, didn't really think that one through. No evil plot to demolish, no real mission. Think fast! Let's see...its a masquerade. What do people do at those? Dance! But she didn't feel like dancing...yet. Food? Nah, she wasn't that hungry. Explore? Sure why not! "Find out the bad guy's evil scheme of course" she declared, brightening up. Which really meant "follow me and hope something happens". If this was her sister or brother, they would know what those words really meant. Alas, Big Sister was off doing whatever. Big Brother? Probably picking up girls who didn't attend tonight's festivities. Or trying to see how well the doctor was at removing tattoos. Or both. The man knew how to multitask. Dad managed it, back in the day. And so can her brother.

"Come, Bird Guy, off we go!" she cried, grabbing his sleeve, directing him in a random direction. All part of the plan, really. The best things were found after a good snooping. Of course, snooping wasn't always the best idea. Lyzander kept such horrible things underneath his bed, and the attic. Oh that boy and his possessions. They could scare the dead.

That One Guy was having issues figuring out just how old this girl was. She came off as a little immature, a little green around the edges. But these masks made it so difficult determining if she was four or forty. All he saw standing before him was a stubby person in a top hat, and honestly most girls were short when compared to him. He might not be the tallest guy in here, but his long legs, arms, torso... everything probably gave him a few inches by sight alone. Lanky was the word, he was lanky. That One Guy touched the end of his beak, tilting his head to try and determine just who he was spending the night with. Silvery hair, nope. Didn’t ring a bell. He had this sinking feeling he was going to spend his night running around with some kid, he masks would come off and Kadoodle would be a five-year-old. Because that’s just how life went.

    His life, anyway.

But no matter, sometimes you had to spend nights entertaining the masses in order to be happy. Aap bhalaa toe jag bhalaa, right? If you are noble, you will find the world noble, as some Hindu proverb said. Entertaining a kid was kind of noble, not up there with slaying dragons, but not many things were. In this life you had to be happy with the simple things.

He raised his brow from beneath his mask, head tilting to the side to observe his companion. “Well...?” he began, smirking lightly. “Can’t stay like this all night.” That would be a good deal too noble, even for him. Hm, maybe he should’ve been a knight, instead, That One Guy mused as he tugged on a bright blue sleeve.

Suddenly he was being hurried along by this girl, going goodness knows where. He caught sight of his sisters’ and gave them a nervous wave. They stopped short in their dancing to return the look. That One Guy didn’t have to see their faces to know that they were giving him ‘what the hell are you up to?’ looks. As his sisters, they had nearly mastered it. Frankly, if they asked, he wouldn’t be sure what to tell them. He shrugged, grinning at them briefly before continuing his way behind her.

Where are we going, again?” he asked, though he was almost afraid to hear the answer.

Really now, really?! There was always a reason as to why sidekicks were just that, sidekicks. Leave all the planning to the real heroes. Tonight, Kadoodle didn't feel like that hero. No, of course she didn't know the exact location they were going off to. For now, they would take the Jack Sparrow approach. No real planning, just making it up as she goes along. It will have to do. Guy can just deal with it! "What are you, some sort of cop?" Kadoodle asked suspiciously, looking up and over her shoulder to face Guy. Dang, he was tall. Seriously, what made guys do that? Because this Guy certainly was. Well, then again, Kadoodle herself wasn't that tall to begin with. 5'5 actually. Average height for a girl, so nothing to worry about. but her sister was taller than her. And so was her brother. Well, Lyzander was taller than a lot of people, so he didn't count. Not one little bit.

"Okay, I really have don't know where we are going" she confessed, coming to a stop. "But its fun seeing what kind of trouble you can get yourself into at these kind of parties". Yeah, its a party! Time for some fun! Like when Lyz kicks her out of the house, telling her "go get in trouble or something". And she usually did. Nothing to bad, though. Prison did not look good on a college transcript. Once they were done moving in to Ocean of Stars, she'll go sign up for some classes. To bad she won't be with this Guy. She already kinda liked him. A little to nosy, but he seemed cool. Nothing wrong with that. C'mon man, live a little! Its a party! So....party and stuff.

Life was one big party after all. It depended on when you decided to accept that it was.[/align]

That One Guy raised his brow, for what felt like the millionth time that evening. It was apparently a default reaction to things that confused him. Some people face palmed, others still frowned and knitted their brows. He raised his eyebrows. And man, was this night weird. He hadn’t exactly expected this when he walked over to Kadoodle here. She had forgotten about that bat guy quickly enough, but then again maybe she was the sort of person who could only focus on one thing at a time. His younger sister was like that, so he couldn’t fault her. It meant she had an active imagination, one he could hardly tame or keep quiet.

Not that he was complaining, kids did need room to spread their wings and metaphorically fly into adulthood. So long as they eventually grew up and learned what life was really about: hard work, and lots of it. In That One Guy’s mind, things like this were awesome and he loved every minute of them, but he could only afford stuff like this if he worked hard to get to it. Things were never just handed to you, you had to do something to deserve them, right?

... Nooo, no cops here,” he said, shaking his head. He slid his hands into his pockets, tilting his head to the side. “Just a guy with some questions.” Very legit questions, too. He wasn’t asking about the specifics, really, more about where they were going and what they were doing. Anything, really.

He paused. Wait, trouble? Whyyyy did he get the feeling that he would get very uncomfortable with this very quickly? He forced a grin. Well, he’d be around to stop it, right? ... Right? “Cool,” he said, rolling his shoulders back to get some stiffness that had built up in his joints. “Lead on, I guess.
