Alison grabbed the glass as the drink was placed beside her. She had noticed the man tending the bar look her over when she sat down and placed her order but decided to ignore the roaming eyes. She wasn't looking for a hook up at the moment but if she was she had a fairly good idea that the bar wasn't the best place to start. Still it was nice to know she could still turn a few heads.

"Happy New Year," She heard the man that she had sat down beside say. He had just finished his own glass and asked for a second when she turned around to get a better look at the man who was talking to her. “Happy New Year,” She said with a smile. “You know if you keep drinking like that you’re not going to be able to last the night.” Alison had a jesting tone in her voice. It was New Years after all but you didn’t down a glass like that unless you had the intention of doing some serious drinking.

Sitting with her back to the bar Alison looked over the crowd that had gathered at the Mayor’s home. She didn’t know how many people had decided to come out tonight but the crowd was definitely getting big and the party was in full swing now. The bar was at least seeing its fair share of customers. “Nice party but I wonder if they were expecting this many to visit the bar?” she commented to those around her. At this rate she thought they might have some trouble keeping the drinks flowing until the morning.

Alison picked up the card that had been handed to her and examined it quizzically as she sipped at her drink. She had noticed a few of them when she came in but wasn’t really sure what they were for. It looked like some kind of score card but she wasn’t sure. ‘Hope it’s not some kind of drinking game.’ She thought. She was competitive enough as it was and didn’t need any incentives to drink the night away.

When Julie said that it'd been a while since they last spoke, Tenjukai gave a simple nod, but didn't say much else. He was relieved that he hadn't gotten her name wrong; either that or she was too polite to tell him he'd gotten it wrong, but Tenjukai decided to stick to the first assumption. Made him feel like less of a jerk.
<Br><Br>
He blinked, looking a tad surprised when Julie brought up the book he had gotten for Mary. He smiled, belatedly. "Yeah, she was happy to get it." To be honest, Tenjukai hadn't ever asked Mary how she was enjoying the book. Reading wasn't a pass time of his, so he never really brought it up during conversations.
<Br><Br>
“You know," Tenjukai glanced over to the other girl as she addressed him. He simply stared at her, a bit dully, detecting the tone of jest in her voice. "if you keep drinking like that you’re not going to be able to last the night.”
<BR><br>
"That isn't any of your business."
<Br><Br>
"Hey, Tenj." Kyosuke cut in, and Tenjukai glanced over to him, a bit irritated. "She was just trying to joke around. Cut her some slack, you stuck up ass." His eyes narrowed at this comment, but Tenj decided to ignore it for the most part. He hadn't said that to be rude to the woman, just to tell her how he felt. It really was none of her business whether he got drunk or not.
<Br><br>
"Aw, don't mind him," Kyosuke smiled over at the girl, and he stole a quick glance at Julie again before continuing. Tenjukai ignored their conversation and took another drink of his alcohol, "To be honest, this is what he's like in a good mood. Consider yourself lucky."

"I'm glad, she seems like a nice girl, deserves someone like you in her life." She smiled and took another reserved sip of her wine. If anyone knew her thoughts, which they didn't, they'd know she didn't feel worthy of such friendships. She felt very fake, very cruel and....especially now, very out of place.

She smiled when the bartender took yet another look, it assured her she was doing something right with her appearance. He looked cute and she could do worse for an admirer of his persuasion. They got in a little spat, the three of them, and she took a short step back to let them at it.

When he mentioned they were lucky he was in a 'good mood' she gave a soft chuckle, it seemed a little masculine, almost surreal while she wore her femininity with such pride. On most days she almost cross-dressed, today was special.

Fingers slipped across with such uncertainty she was almost afraid she'd drop it. Her mind split itself, debating whether or not to flirt with him. She knew better than to try it on Tenjukai, he'd either be annoyed or weirded out, neither of which she wanted. She stayed silent, focusing on what was in her hand rather than the people around her. She needed to get her head on strait before she opened her mouth.

Marzell Feldt<br>
Tag : Chris, Abraham, Drew & Imminent C2H5OH<br>
<br>
Briefly, Marzell wondered if the pair could really hold their own liquor. They don't looked like professional drinkers, but of course appearance could be deceiving. In fact, he hoped they could down a few drinks, competitions were always nice.<br>
<br>
"Great, you'll need that to out-drink us."<br>
<br>
Well, the one with the magenta hair was confident, at least. He could respect that. The other was a bit jumpy, but then that just makes him seem a bit more unpredictable. That would be good, things could really get interesting, Marzell was fairly sure of that now. Only one thing stands between a dull party and excitement, and that's lucidity. He smirked."We'll see what happens."<br>
<br>
His mood brightening up a bit more, Marzell turned his attention back to the girl behind him. She didn't looked too confident about joining the group, but eventually relented. Hmm, shyness? Or just aversions to alcohol? Well, either way, this adds nicely to the group dynamic. Whether she would balance out the expressive duo, or turned out to be the opposite when the alcohol gets to her, it should still be an interesting sight to behold.<br>
<br>
"Glad to hear you could join us," Then, after others finished exchanging their names, Marzell nodded as he introduced himself. "I'm Marzell, pleased to make your acquaintances."<br>
<br>
Silently, Marzell wondered if he should shorten his name, too. The names of the others all sounded like nicknames or shortened names, so he should be a sportsman and get one too, right? Looking up, the blue-haired German seemed lost in thought. Then, he looked back at the others with an amused smile.<br>
<br>
"Say, which one do you all prefer?" He asked jokingly, crossing his arms and smirking a bit. "Marz the Martian? Or Ezra the Winemaker of Endymion?"

DREW TAYLOR

Drew couldn’t help but giggle. Martian? Endymion? At first she’d thought this boy was kind of intimidating, what with his looming height and his smirks (even though they were kind of attractive, ugh), but he really was kind of comical. First impressions weren’t always accurate.

Now, it really was a challenge choosing between the two nicknames; they were both equally weird. Drew couldn’t fathom why he’d want to choose a nickname in the first place; the name Marzell really suited him. She stopped laughing, but a joking smile remained on her face.

“It’s really up to you,” she shrugged her shoulders. But she realized was no help. “Or—Marz sounds better, don’t you think?” She stopped herself before laughing again. “Or Zell.” Yeah, Zell was good. At least, Drew thought so. It was definitely a better alternative than Ezra. She glanced at the other two, wondering if they thought this guy was weird, too.

Drew was glad she was finally opening up, if not for at least tonight. It would be a lot easier to make a fool of herself in front of people she was more comfortable with.

Mood: Excited.
TAG: Open.

Party! Fun times! Woo! Peter grinned from ear to ear as he sauntered up to the Mayor's mansion, his hands shoved deep in his pockets, and tilted his head back to stare up at it. With both of the womenfolk tucked away and dreaming, Peter took advantage of the moment to sneak out of the house and come down to this celebration for a while. While he and Jane had a delightful time playing cards and horsing around at the Starry Night Festival, it didn't quite feel like enough to him. Something inside of him strangely whined for attention. And thus, with that all realized, Peter decided that there was no better place for him to be than surrounded by countless other individuals. Sweet!

As he approached the mansion, a bit late from waiting to be sure that both Freya and Jane were asleep, he could positively hear the activity reverberating from inside and felt a little shot of excitement zip through his frame. How strange. He hadn't felt that for a while. He tilted his head to the side and stared up at the building for a moment before he shrugged and started inside, running a hand through his bangs as he did so to push them off his face. Would he know anyone here? Had anyone witnessed his generally embarrassing antics at the bar? Urgh. No drinking for me tonight. He'd heard tell of a drinking contest tonight, yes, but he knew immediately both that he'd lose and that Jane would see fit to injure him extensively once he came home and she found him slobberingly hung over on the couch. That was all it took to put the fear of God in him as he entered the mansion and looked around with a grin. Well. Whether he knew anyone or not, it was no doubt going to be a fabulous night.

He immediately wandered toward the first logical place that he could think of: the refreshments. Poor guy always felt hungry to some extent, and his metabolism destroyed everything that he ate so fast that he couldn't gain any weight from it at all. As a sort of afterthought he carefully flexed one of his arms subtly and glanced at it, noticing that his muscles were still growing slowly. Ah! No harm done, then! Nothing better for a body than working on a farm. Made him nice and strong and filled him with more endurance than he could imagine. Sweet. His absent-minded brain continued to go down strange paths to amuse himself as he made his way toward the refreshment table, humming softly as he did so, and within moments he had a glass of punch in his hands and was staring at the food. He sipped the punch, wondering absently at the fact that his body was honestly whining for a bit of alcohol and trying to refuse his desire to stay sober from here on out. Strange, that. Perhaps he should write home and ask if his father ever had a problem with alcoholism.

...or perhaps his parents would send a missile to destroy him if they even knew he was drinking.

Not a risk he was willing to take, he decided. Peter plucked up a number of little finger foods and made his way to a chair and table faaaaar away from the alcohol, deciding to have a jolly good night without it. His manhood was at stake.

Spring 1st, Year 08<br>
Around 12:00 am<br>
Tag: Peter, Open<br><br>

Ah the New Year Festival. And the first one he'd be going to in his time on the island. He looked up to the mansion, hands in his pockets. His right thumb ran over the silver pocketwatch in his trenchcoat pocket. He stepped toward the mansion, smiling some. Hopefully he'd meet some interesting people tonight. Nothing like to start off the new year with some new friends. He took hold of the door and opened it, entering the mansion.
<br><br>
And right off the bat the crowd and the mansion interior were revealed. Quite a place to have a party. Reminds me of my old houseHe thought, remembering his family home. The home he left behind. But back to the party. Silver lensed, glassed covered eyes looked about the crowd, spotting quite a few different characters about it. All seemed like an interesting sort. Course they all were talking so he couldn't interfere with their conversation.
<br><br>
Soon he spotted a red haired man who seemed to not be talking to anyone. So of course being the friendly guy he was he walked over to him, smiling. "Hey! Name's Virgil." He spoke, starting off the hopeful conversation between the two. He wouldn't invite himself to the man's table, he wouldn't want to invade like that. He disliked inviting himself to things after all. It was a bad personality trait.. And just plain rude.
<br><br>
As he waited for the man's response he looked about the crowd once more before noticing the bar. Perhaps if he needed to a quick drink of alcohol wouldn't hurt. It had that magical effect to make the night much happier to pretty much anyone. Of course he'd try to resist the allure of it for now. He looked back to the man and waited for his response, adjusting his glasses.

Much nomming seemed destined to commence whenever suddenly, out of nowhere, a shock of white hair caught Peter's eye. He blinked and swallowed the bite of roll that he had taken, which then led into a miniature coughing fit due to him swallowing without chewing in his surprise, which was further offset by the downing of his entire glass of punch within a second, and then all was back to normal again. Ah! A new friend? How joyous! Perhaps he would find a way to stay away from alcohol tonight after all! Peter grinned widely at the man, who in the midst of his near-death experience had drawn quite close to his table and called out a greeting. "Ah, yes, hello there!" Peter called back, giving a wave of his own with his large, calloused hand as he came to his feet to greet the approaching man. He'd never seen the man before, had he? Huh. He couldn't really remember, to tell the truth. After all, the first few people he'd met on the island, such as Wakka, had disappeared shortly without a trace. They'd been away for so long that he was almost certain that he'd promptly forget that he knew them before if they suddenly appeared and stood in front of him and frantically waved brightly colored pompoms, for the Goddess's sake. Thus, for all he knew, he'd met this man right after he arrived at the island first or something.

Oh well! Best to push forth, then, and to find out if he did or not. Perhaps something would strike his memory suddenly? Peter stuck out his hand immediately to the man with the strange remnants of an accent, whose name was apparently Virgil. "Why, thank you, Virgil! I do try to be that way." He grinned widely, taking the man's hand and offering a healthy shake as he did so. "My name is Peter and, due to my near death experience, I'm afraid I need a spot more punch." He released the man's hand and shoved his hands into his deep pockets, tilting his head to the side in order to get his thick bangs to move away from his insanely bright blue eyes. "Care to join me? No, in fact, I won't take no for an answer. It'll be too awkward if I eat while you sit there having nothing at all, don't you think?" And thus with another grin he started toward the refreshment table, glancing over his shoulder to make sure that Virgil was following near him as he did so.

He hadn't been that pushy in a while, had he? He supposed it might have developed from living in a house with Jane for the past two or three seasons. Goodness, had it really almost been a year? That was so bizarre. She'd fit so well into their family dynamic that there was really no reason for him ever to wonder why she just hadn't left them and gone back home. But she had a slightly stronger will than Freya had, one that she exercised without hesitation, and when it came down to the wire and he was faced with a conflict with her, he needed to lay down the law without hesitation. He couldn't think of anywhere else that the subtly pushy side of his nature had developed from, unless it came from working with the animals.

...actually, that was entirely possible. He still bore fresh scars on his hands from working with Fluffy, after all. He was still a bit cautious of allowing Alex to work with the hens, keeping the boy distracted with the animals in the barn and those waiting to be sold in the Unique Livestock Shop instead. They were all much less violent, after all, and it was doubtful that he'd have any damage to him at all. Heck, the most damage they could do would be to his pride, like if Candi the cow decided to shove him to the ground and bathe his face and hair with her affectionate licks.

Why was he even thinking about that stuff? Had this thoughts gotten away from him that quickly again? Buh. He really had to learn how to harness that. As Peter stopped at the refreshment table and began serving himself another glass of punch, he looked over at Virgil with a grin. "So, Virgil, tell me about yourself. You new to the island? I haven't seen you around the island, but I guess that's really not much of a surprise." No, no, stop talking. There. Good. Being around Jane meant that he was much more likely to talk someone's ear off these days. He reeeeeally needed to work on that too before it got out of hand.

"That isn't any of your business." She heard the man sitting beside her say in response to her teasing. ‘Well there’s a fine how do you do.’ She thought and forced herself to bite her tongue before she made the situation any worse by saying something she would regret later. Besides tonight was supposed to be a party and there was no reason to waste time being angry at people.

Alison shrugged and turned back to the bar as she took another sip of her drink. She heard the man behind the bar speak up as she spun back to face him. "Hey, Tenj. She was just trying to joke around. Cut her some slack, you stuck up ass." The bartender had apparently decided to take up for her which she appreciated but not wanting to be the cause of any more trouble she smiled at him and said. “Oh it’s not a big deal. It’s not the worst thing someone’s ever said to me.” She laughed. “Besides you can’t just let one person ruin your whole night, especially when there is a party to enjoy.”

"Aw, don't mind him, to be honest this is what he's like in a good mood. Consider yourself lucky." Alison laughed. At least she had met one person with a sense of humor. “I see. Well I guess we can excuse his actions since I caught him at a good time.” Alison didn’t know how the two men knew each other but she thought that ‘Tenj’ might be the one that was lucky. If this was how he treated everyone he met this way he was lucky he had people to put up with him.

Alison sighed as she finished off her drink. ‘Well one more couldn’t hurt.’ She reasoned with herself and asked for another round. “So I’m guessing by the way you’re talking you two know each other Mr….” She paused for a second realizing that she still didn’t know the man’s name. She laughed and smiled “Well I guess I could find out your name before I go asking questions. I’m Alison by the way.”

For quite a long time, Tenjukai had doubted that. So much. But now, a random person he barely knew, was telling him that he was needed by her, that she deserved him. Despite how he might act toward others.

Shrugging it off, Tenjukai took another sip of his drink.

"Name's Kyosuke Harusume. And this here is Tenjukai," As he introduced him, Kyosuke motioned toward Tenjukai. Kyo noted that Tenj had tensed a bit - obviously he hadn't wanted this woman to know his name - but he grinned. Too bad for you, Tenjukai.

She smiled a little as Tenjukai returned his attention to her, secretly she wanted this girl to leave so she could talk to him without someone interrupting or interjecting ignorantly. She had a mean streak to her that seemed to surface only in her mind, her body to cowardly to follow through with the cutting words her thoughts stirred up in waves and swells. "To be honest I hadn't expected to run into you either, it's nice though, I'm glad I did."

She spoke with a very reserved sense of herself, a few more drinks and that would be cured non-the-less. She took another drink and, as there wasn't much left, emptied her glass. "Would I be able to get another?" She passively interrupted Kyosuke's advances on the girl. She wasn't in the mood to see it and in all honesty, no matter how cute he was, no flirting on the job, that's just how it had to be.

Despite his size, Abraham was pretty good at holding his drink. At least, it took a while for him to pass out. Maybe it was the Irish in him. Still, the man was a ways taller than either of them, that always helped. So long as they beat the blonde, then their drinking escapade would not be a waste. Hopefully. He grinned at Drew. "Woo~ The more the merrier!" he said. They made quite a group, him and Chris, the dark-haired man who spoke funny, and the girl who didn't speak much at all. Well, different people got drunk different ways. Though he had this inkling that none of them made for boring drunks.<br><br>

All in all, it looked like it was going to be an interesting night.<br><br>

"Thanks," she said offhandedly to the blonde's comment on her name. It was preferable to Christmas, anyway. She did, however, glance over upon introducing herself as Drew. "Yours too," she added, this time with a smile. Always a pleasure to meet someone with a fellow boy name, despite being entirely feminine. Her attention was drawn away by the man. Marzell...? She guessed that was a name.<br><br>

"So which do you prefer? Marz the Martian? Or Ezra the Winemaker of Endymion?"<br><br>

The two exchanged glances, almost surprised. Abraham had approached him thinking: silent type who probably would turn them down. But he hadn't, and now he was asking them to call him Ezra the Winemaker of Endymion of all things. He grinned, he liked it. "I'm thinking Marz," said Chris with a small shrug. "People hear you're from Endymion and you'll just get stereotyped."<br><br>

Abraham nodded. "You'll never be able to live them down," he said. Hopefully Endymion wasn't a real place because it sounded fake, like you could fall through a wardrobe and land in it. Since introductions were out of the way, maybe the drinking would start soon. Yes, no...?

"Name's Kyosuke Harusume. And this here is Tenjukai," Alison nodded as Kyosuke introduced the two men. "Well It's nice to meet both of you." She said without a hint of sarcasm in her voice. Even if Tenjukai wasn't predisposed to be friendly that didn't mean that she had to be.

Alison noticed that Kyosuke was starting to come on to her as she picked up another drink from the counter. She had got a sense that Kyo was the type to go after the ladies when she first arrived but now she was definitely sure. She got the feeling that any other girl could have found herself receiving Kyo's attention if they were in the right place at the right time.

"You have a very pretty name," The Scottish giggled. She was sure that line had been used before on any number of women but she gave him some credit for trying. She smiled at Kyo as she replied "I've always thought of it as kind of common myself. Are you sure you haven't been sampling a few too many of your own products?" She was teasing of course and she knew it probably wasn't a good idea to encourage Kyo but it was good to talk to someone who was at least trying to have a good time.

She was glad to bump into him? Tenjukai looked at her, and raised an eyebrow for a moment. He glanced away, and felt himself smile a bit. Why was he smiling so much? Did he actually enjoy her company? Well. Of course he did - she was a nice lady, from what he had seen. But, still, it wasn't like him to smile this much.
<BR><BR>
Maybe it was the alcohol. He didn't know. All Tenjukai was certain about, was the fact that he wanted this feeling to stay. For a little while longer, at least. He heard Alison and Kyosuke joking, and was slightly tempted to just take Julie and walk away from the scene. Flirting never was something Tenjukai had been comfortable witnessing.
<BR><BR>
But then, he remembered the drinking contest. If he wanted to compete, he couldn't just leave the refreshments table. Otherwise someone else might get a lead on him, and then it'd be a pain trying to catch up. Besides, Julie was already asking for another drink, which Kyosuke complied with and was pouring for her. Well. So much for leaving.
<BR><BR>
"Here you are, Lovely," Kyosuke smirked, handing Julie her glass before he turned to look back at Alison. "Trust me, Alison, once I've had too many, you'll know," He teased, raising an eyebrow at her. Tenjukai was half tempted to tell him to lay off, but decided that Alison seemed like she could handle herself. Besides he wasn't looking to get into a fight with Kyosuke over something so stupid.
<BR><br>
"Happy New Year, Julie," Tenjukai said this belatedly, while looking back toward her. He'd only now realized that he hadn't really wished her one. He took another sip of his drink, before downing the rest and asking Kyosuke for another glass.

She rolled her eyes at the addition of lovely, his compliment were quickly losing their magic. She turned back to Tenjukai and observed his smile, it was small, genuine and seemed like it could easily be lost into the skin, bitten back past the teeth until not even a semblance of enjoyment remained. Was she coaxing him into smiling? She'd never dare to make him smile, that sounded forceful and rude. She hoped to be neither in this friendship.

She took a long swallow of her drink and she felt her body tingle and her mind swim a little, she'd no idea why wine effected her so easily when most others didn't do half as much. "Happy New Year, Julie." She paused for a moment, she'd never really spent new years with anyone, never really had anyone give her that. She smiled though. "And Happy New Year to you too, and many more to come." She raised her glass a little; hesitant to start a small toast.
