NEW YEARS FESTIVAL
<br>Spring 1st, 08 || 12:00 AM - ???
<br>Atmosphere: Energetic!
<br>Villagers all around are invited to the Mayor's Estate at 11:45 PM on Winter 28th to count down and ring in the new year at 12:00. However it is at midnight that the real festivities begin.
<br>
<br>The celebrations for Year 08 are a bit more laid-back and easy-going this year, with a simple free-for-all party at Chrysocolla Estate. His house is open from midnight until the wee hours of the morning, and villagers are free to party here as long as they can manage. There is a table covered in (hopefully) enough food and refreshments to last the party, and the usual music to orchestrate any dancing people would care to do. The main 'event' of the celebration, though - at least for the adults - would most likely be the drinking contest.
<br><br>
Off to the side of one room, there is a table surrounded by wine with a large stock of wine glasses behind it. One of the Estate workers mans this station, moderating the amount of outgoing alcohol and giving out scoring cards to all those who wish to compete. Should someone want to compete, all they would have to do is ask for a card and drink away! With each drink the worker would mark it, tallying them up. As one can expect, the person who has the most tallies at the end of the night wins. Though it should be noted that, should the worker deem it best, people can be cut off before things get too out of hand.
<br><br>
But of course, not everyone wants to get drunk off their tails, and the mayor has realized that. So he has dug through the history books and brought back an old tradition to revive. Off on the opposite side of the room there is a table with round wooden tubs and large wooden hammers. Here, party-goers can pound glutinous New Years rice cakes (or mochi) that they can later take home and eat, or feast on right then and there. Pounding mochi is a two person operation, needing one person to pound and another to wet and turn the cake, but it can be done alone if desired. There is also an attendant here to hand out materials and, if all goes well, prevent this activity from mixing with the participants of the drinking contest.
<Br><br>
The host of the party, the mayor himself, can also be seen wandering about. He seems to be quite laid-back himself, though, matching the somewhat unstructured festival this year. He actually seems more tired than anything, but it seems he is keeping himself around to ensure his home makes it through the celebration in one piece.

Spring 1st, YEAR 08<br>
12:03AM<br>
[size0]warm<br>
Casual Wear 3<br>
TAG;; open
<br><br>
A new year. A new start.
<Br><br>
Tenjukai knew he'd probably never be able to completely forget or let go of his past. Then again, he doubted any one person could accomplish such a thing even if they tried for years and years. He should know, he had. But now, he knew better.
<BR><BR>
He would do his best to not dwell on the past, but he'd also try and learn from it as well. Granted, some times he couldn't remember certain things, but hey. He was only human. Tenjukai had made his mistakes -- too many for his liking.
<BR><BR>
Clearing his throat, he decided to brush those thoughts aside, figuring that it wasn't such a good way to start off the new year. He was kind of ashamed that Mary hadn't wanted to come, but she explained that she wasn't really up to a party today. Tenjukai had been worried, but complied and headed off to celebrate without her.
<Br><br>
It hadn't taken him much thought to figure out what he wanted to wear; somehow, he had felt like this outfit just seemed to fit. Anyway, he never really gave what he wore too much thought. Sort of just threw on whatever seemed good at the time; and it wasn't like the new years festival was an overly important event.
<BR><BR>
Just a party.
<BR><Br>
He glanced over, noticing that he had missed the count down. Oh well. He gave a short shrug and began to make his way over to the side of the party where the wine was being served. Wasn't like Tenjukai would've counted out loud along with everyone else anyway; that wasn't his style.
<Br><Br>
He paused in front of the bar, about to grab a drink, when the man behind the operation suddenly spoke up,
<Br><Br>
"Happy New Year!"
<BR><Br>
Tenjukai glanced up toward the man, immediately recognizing the voice. Oh shit.
<Br><BR>
"Not you. What the hell are you doing here?" He asked flatly, his gaze staring dully at the brown haired man. Kyosuke grinned back at Tenjukai, a bit smugly. Almost mockingly. Damn.
<Br><Br>
"Working."
<BR><BR>
"Since when do you serve drinks?"
<Br><BR>
"Since about an hour ago. No one was really doing anything, and I figured. Free alcohol. Free money. Works. Besides, the mayor looked like he was gonna have an ulcer from how he was running around, trying to find someone." Kyosuke casually jabbed a finger at the short, round happy man that many recognized as the mayor.
<br><Br>
Tenjukai glanced away and looked at Mayor Thomas before turning back to Kyosuke. "He looks fine to me." Then again, Mayor Thomas always had a smile on his face.
<Br><Br>
"Yeah, that's cause he doesn't gotta worry about it anymore. Anyway, loosen up, Tenny Bear. Have a drink." Kyosuke poured out some wine and handed it to Tenjukai. Tenj paused, staring at it, and Kyosuke, a bit skeptically before he took the glass.
<BR><Br>
"...Thanks." Now, what were the chances that Kyosuke had spiked these drinks with something? The way Kyosuke was looking at him, smiling slyly, Tenjukai had a bad feeling it might've been possible. Stop being so paranoid. It's been a while... He's probably. Hopefully. changed.
<Br><Br>
Swallowing a tad, subtly, Tenjukai brought the glass up to his lips and had a drink. Tasted fine.
<BR><BR>
"Oh. There's a contest goin' on."
<Br><br>
"Where's Haru?" Tenjukai belatedly asked, holding the glass a bit away from himself as he watched Kyosuke carefully. He seemed to tense a bit at the question, but eventually loosened. Haru had been a long-time friend of Kyosuke's; he was a white wolf, came up to about Tenjukai's stomach and was a very smart animal.
<Br><br>
"He left." Kyosuke smiled a bit, and Tenjukai frowned as he watched Kyosuke pour more refreshments. "Been a while since then. I don't mind it, I mean, he was free to go whenever he wanted." Kyosuke paused and glanced up, noticing the way Tenjukai was looking at him. He grinned, part of his fangs showing through the smile.
<BR><br>
"Stop lookin' at me like that. I'm fine. You know, Tenj, if I didn't know better, I'd say you actually cared," Kyosuke jabbed lightly with his tone, and Tenjukai let out a short breath before taking another sip of the wine.
<Br><BR>
"I do," He replied simply while pulling the glass away from himself again, and now Kyosuke actually looked mildly surprised. Though, it seemed he was amused and grateful to actually hear Tenjukai admit it.
<BR><br>
[size0]"'Bout fuckin' time..." Kyosuke mumbled, and then cleared his throat before handing Tenjukai a card. Tenjukai blinked, looking at it curiously, but before he could ask, Kyosuke was already explaining. "You get a card every time you take a drink. I mark it down, count 'em up and then, whoever has the most at the end of the night, wins."
<br><br>
"...Wins what, exactly?"
<BR><Br>
"A kiss from me, of--"
<Br><br>
"Count me out." Tenjukai said abruptly, not looking amused by the prospect. Kyosuke laughed and gave Tenj a hearty pat on the shoulder.
<Br><br>
"Lighten up! I'm joking. To be honest, don't think there is a prize. I'll try and figure something out though."
<br><Br>
Tenjukai paused to consider this, before he gave a short nod and took another sip of his wine. This would be interesting.

Okay, so it had been a while since she had been out and about, she couldn't convince anyone to go with her....surprise there....not. She understood none-the-less and did what her mom always praised her for; took a deep breath and went alone. She tried to be independent like that, tried to get along on her own and do things without help. It got her into trouble a lot but since she started Dashes Delivery.....she'd been alright. She was a little peeved she hadn't been chosen to cater but she promised herself next year she'd do it, next year she'd win that.

She spotted a certain giant with a nose for expensive books. They hadn't exactly shared a moment with the thank you dinner.....she'd just glanced innocently at his behind that was conveniently just below eye level for a girl of her stature. That didn't mean she should just go on and say hi to the fellow. But, he WAS talking to a server. Which meant she could get within noticing distance as she got herself a drink.

Drinking....ooh drinking didn't seem like a good idea....she got stupid when she drank. Really giddy, lowered inhibitions, kinda on the libido-driven side stupid. One mistake soured it. She shook off all that, one glass of wine couldn't hurt. She'd eaten a full meal, she'd spent some time moving. She could do it. She assured herself a little as she stepped closer, nervous. She sighed and lifted her hand as she reached them. "One White Wine please." She waited, wondering if he heard her. She had a terrible habit of speaking very low when she asked for things. It wasn't that she intended for it to go unnoticed but it was very hard for her to interrupt when it was for something involving her own needs.

She wore a long coat over a low cut green and blue top and jeans. She'd spent a while picking things out. She tried to feel beautiful even if, for the most part, she didn't really believe it. She rarely thought anything of herself and it only worsened with her mistakes. All in all...she couldn't classify it as a mistake and she didn't want people to know....as far as she was concerned; She was fine and nothing had happened. She didn't want pity, she didn't want someone to give her false words of upset.

Another year, another New Year's party. Last year Abraham and Chris had gone to some well-to-do place and crashed a party, in disguise of course. Being that person who no one knew, but everyone talked about was fun. And mysterious! He never thought he could call himself an enigma, but there you go. This year, well, the mayor had something going on. It seemed he always did, and Chris was going so of course that meant that Abe was going too. He pushed into the estate, bouncing up and down, looking for a flash of magenta hair above all the drab black and brown. Only a few minutes to midnight, he had to find her!<br><br>

A small tap on his shoulder, and he whirled around, finding himself face-to-face with none other than Chris. She was decked in a fancy uniform, befitting of a secretary. He beamed at her, immediately going in for a hug. "Look at you~" he exclaimed, twirling her around once. "Happy New Year!"<br><br>

"Happy New Year," she replied with a giggle, face flushed like she had just been dancing. "We made it." Chris winked, drawing close and linking arms with him. She tugged forward ever-so-slightly, leading him to a long table. Alcohol of all strengths were spread upon the tablecloth, Abe blinked.<br><br>

"What's this?" he asked, one hand tracing the top of a wine glass.<br><br>

"Drinking contest, we're doing it," she said. "Feel like getting drunk?"<br><br>

Abraham chuckled, eyes glancing to the clock. Not too long, now. "Always." Well, maybe he would just pretend to drink. They had to get home somehow, right?

tag;; heidi // open!

Parties were not exactly Jean's scene. The drunken behaviour and loud music were not preferable to the quiet atmosphere of his home life. Then again, he did work at an asylum. Hardly a typical nine to five desk job, seeing as he was on call almost constantly. Why, even now there was a pager attached onto his belt in case of emergency. Still, at some point or another he had told Heidi he would take her to a party. Oftentimes exposure to society in a contained environment proved helpful to the patient, so why not?

Things had improved since the beginning of this season, and hopefully seeing the new years dawn with friends would help the young woman stable herself. Maybe it was wishful thinking, but Jean-Louis could allow himself that sometimes. It was the New Year, and he was always telling his patients (the ones out of the straight jackets) to go out and have some fun. Live life. Perhaps it was time he take his own advise.

"You first, Miss Hoffman," he said quietly, pushing open the door. He had been unable to contact the Tenjukai she fawned over. Maybe he had left the island. Hopefully he had left the island. "And no drinks tonight, okay?" he added with a soft laugh.

For the first time ever, since being admitted to the asylum, Heidi was being allowed to leave her little uncomfortable, plain and boring room and go back out into the real world. This was all thanks to the New Years festival and her doctor Jean-louis. Heidi was very thankful and later decided she'd have to come up with a way to thank him. <br><Br>

After going through her clothes Heidi found herself a nice yellow dress, which reminded her of daisies. She then picked out her only pair of white dress shoes, a white sweater and her only piece of jewelry which was a chained necklace with a daisy. It was perfect, except for one missing item. It had taken a bit of hard work for herself and some of the staff at the asylum but it had been well worth it. For that morning a single daisy had been delivered to her room. They weren't even in bloom yet so whoever found it must have been magic or something.<br><br>

Heidi walked along side Jean-Louis and entered first into the estate while clutching the daisy in one hand. The first thing she noticed was the amount of people who were already there or not there really. It puzzled Heidi because she had expected to come in and find a huge crowd of lots and lots of people. It didn't matter though. Heidi was sure she'd have fun no matter.<br><br>

"And no drinks tonight, okay?"<br><br>

Heidi nodded as she continued to walk farther into the room. It hadn't been her plan at all to come and drink any alcoholic beverage. In fact Heidi had never taken a drink in her life and she planned to keep it that way.<br><br>

"Is it okay if I walk around a little bit?"

It was a new start. No more skipping classes, no more anger bursts, no more getting into trouble. <br>
Having clamped down onto Enfys' shoulder like an overgrown child, Eirlys had dragged her childhood friend all around the mansion until they reached the food counters in the fashion of a boisterous whirlwind. The quieter of the two was silently thankful for the rest this brought along, taking in deep breaths as he finally had the chance to look at the place in more details than a blur. It was, well, decorated accordingly to the festive theme of New Year. The air was also thankfully heated, given that it was still sort of cold outside.<br>
<br>
"Hey Enfys, come check this out!" Off to a side, Eirlys waved excitedly to him, holding onto a full plate of food. Enfys smiled at his friend, nodding as he too began to fill the plate he took with delicacies such as rice cake. The two of them had came to the festival together, or rather, Eirlys had dragged him all the way out here. It wasn't as if he planned to skip it, but it was kind of embarrassing when the count down had started. Still, that was fun.<br>
<br>
"You know, this the first time I've celebrated New Year outside of Welsh." Enfys said as he scooped some fried dumplings onto his plate. "It's the same for you, right?" He looked up to see the happy face of Eirlys nodding vigorously. She had a glass of juice on her hand. Where did she get that?<br>
<br>
"This place is great! The whole island's always so full of life and interesting things!" Eirlys beamed, handing her glass to Enfys. "Here, this is yours, go find a table, I'll grab another one." Then, she was off again. Chuckling softly, Enfys nodded as he looked for an empty table. The place was kind of full, so it was taking a bit of time to do so. Still, he managed to find one at the edge close to the dance floor. It'll do. Sitting down, he took a sip of the juice, apple apparently, and waited for his childhood friend to return.

Well, New Year. Apparently everything was the same everywhere, with people running around popping fireworks and shouting at the top of their lungs when the final seconds ticked away. It was all so mundane, so typical. Ah well, Marzell kind of expected that already, so he wasn't too bothered by it. Still, he had wished something interesting would happen, like someone spraying everyone in chocolate at the strike of twelve or something. That would've been amusing.<br>
<br>
Standing to a side, his back resting on the large window behind him, Marzell yawned a little. People milled about, talking to each, celebrating with each other. Predictable, boring, and kind of made him a little bit lonely. It's not like he would bite, although the reactions he received would've been fun if he did, so it was somewhat depressing that he didn't really know anyone here. At all. Still, the point stands that he wasn't the kind of person to talk to someone else, so he wouldn't bother. Not unless they did something spectacular, anyway.<br>
<br>
Well whatever, that didn't concern him too much. He's used to being alone, there's more than enough things to do to keep him busy anyway. He yawned again. This is boring. Why wouldn't something interesting happen?

"Oh bugger, did I missed the countdown?" Looking at the clock as it ticked away, Camille deflated almost instantly. And he was so looking forward to it, too! Just why did those streets had to be so confusing? Oh well, too late to complain. At least he didn't mistook the date, that would've been disastrous.<br>
<br>
Stepping through the doors and into the mayor's mansion, Camille grinned as he took in the sights. "Now that's what I'm talking about!" He said as the sound and sight of joyous partying entered his mind.<br>
<br>
All around the place were counters for food, drinks and activities. There's even a dance floor in the middle, with an orchestra playing some great music! And there's also a lot of people, too! More than enough to make more than a few new friends. This is going to be awesome, he just knew it! Screw the countdown, as long as he didn't miss this party then all's fine in the world.<br>
<br>
"Now, let's see, what should I do first?" Hands crossed in front of his chest, Camille pondered what would be the start off activity. Maybe he could join in the wine contest? Hmm, maybe not, at least until later. Or maybe some food will do him good, although he wasn't really that hungry. The mochi thing looked rather interesting too, and then there's always the option to dance down the centre. All good ideas, he'll remember to take some notes for his own party, when he managed to find a good reason and time for it.

<br><br>
The problem with a drinking contest was that it wasn't any fun unless a bunch of people joined in. Who wants to get drunk alone, anyway? At the moment there were only a few miscellaneous riff-raff huddled around the table, staring at the alcohol like it was some foreign substance. Abe gave Chris a withering, to which she responded with a wink and a smile. "More'll come, you'll see," she said. The minutes rolled by and while more did come, none of them looked of any interest to the pair.<br><br>

With a small sigh, Chris said, "Okay, maybe we'll have to go recruit some people." Recruiting people to get drunk? Sounded like Abe's kind of mission. He nodded, narrowing his eyes in an attempt to see past the limitless crowd that huddled around the estate. No, no, well he just looked absolutely miserable, Abraham thought, his eyes honing in on a dark-haired man. He wondered why people came to this thing alone, it seemed so depressing. Abe didn't have many people in his life, but he had Chris. One friend was better than none, especially when that friend was Chris. He frowned, shuddering at the thought of all the dinner parties back at his parents' home. Those were the day before he had met Chris, and spent most of the meal sitting in silence, pushing apart his vegetables into segregated positions on the plate.<br><br>

Abraham squeezed Chris's arm, suddenly afraid she would disappear. Or maybe he was just thankful she was there in the first place. "Um... how about that guy?" he asked, pointing to the man.<br><br>

A brief pause as she observed the man from a distance. "Alright, why not?" she asked, then pulling forward. "It can't hurt." Abraham nodded, bouncing off after her.<br><br>

"Happy New Years~!" he greeted, veering to the right before the man and stumbling forward. Chris pulled him back by the neck of his shirt.<br><br>

She smiled at him, almost apologetically. "Sorry, we've just been trying to get drinking partners. You any good at holding your liquor?" she asked, jumping right to the point. No point in dilly-dallying, they had some drinking to do.

Jean-Louis smiled, thankful for Heidi's compliance about the drinking. He had this impression she was a temperate girl, not one for alcohol. Usually he only had a glass or two, but figured if he stopped his patient from drinking he might as well not drink himself. Frankly, the idea of Heidi drunk frightened him a little. She was so bubbly when sober. Jean imagined that rather than getting even more... outgoing, she would rather slip into depressing. Alcohol was, after all, a depressant. As people so often seemed to forget. It was always curious how it affected people different ways, and Jean had done enough studies on the drug to try and limit himself. Being drunk was something you did when you were in your twenties, anyway.

"Is it okay if I walk around a little bit?"

He blinked. Did she mean without him? He would prefer if she kept within sight of him, in case anything go wrong. Then again, he had come to this party to. Maybe he needed some time off, too. "Sure, be my guest," he said at length, resolving to keep an eye on her should anything go awry. Until then, hopefully he would spot someone he knew.

Alison entered the mayor’s home well after much of the initial New Year celebration. She had been up on Feldspar Summit for most of the evening out viewing the stars and it had been a long walk into town as she had packed up her things and headed down to see where the party was. In any case it didn't look like she had missed that much and was happy to see that things were already in full swing and it looked like everyone was having fun.

Alison took a moment to scan the crowd to get a feel on what was going on. She saw there was plenty going on to keep her busy for a while. There was dancing, a room full of people pounding out rice cakes, a large table had been prepared with more than enough food to last the evening and there was even a bar set up. It was on the bar that her eyes came to rest. She was Scottish after all. She had spent more than one Sunday afternoon scullin' da pints at the pub watching footie and she hadn't had a toast to welcome in the new year.

'Well just one won't hurt.' She thought to herself. She had no intention of getting drunk tonight especially since she usually got moody and temperamental when she had too much to drink. Also she didn't want to deal with the after effects of a night partying when she woke up tomorrow. That would not help her start the new year off well and there was too much work to do to be waking up with a hang over. Still a little alcohol never hurt anybody and it was a good place to start.

Walking up to the bar Alison saw that several people had already arrived and were enjoying themselves at the mayor's expense. She couldn't blame them. An open bar was a hard thing to resist at a party. Looking around for a free seat as she walked she finally found someone getting up from the bar and moving further on into the party. She quickly walked up to claim it sitting down besides a man dressed in white who was talking with the bartender. The two seemed to know each other from somewhere.

Taking a moment to examine the offerings displayed Alison finally decided on a nice red chianti classico. She waved for the bartender's attention and fixed him with a smile. "Happy New Year. I'll have a chianti." With that she sat back and waited for her drink to arrive

"One White Wine please." Tenjukai blinked, recognizing the voice. He glanced over, and downward, staring at the woman who had just asked Kyosuke for a drink. The man smirked and complied, complimenting Julie on her figure before preparing the drink and handing it her way. Meanwhile, Tenj was still looking at her, trying to remember her name.
<br><br>
"You're Julie, aren't you?..." He asked at length, hoping that he hadn't gotten her name wrong. Bringing his glass up, Tenj took another sip of his wine. He paused, then decided to hell with it, and downed the rest in one gulp. Setting the glass down, Kyosuke whistled at him a bit before lifting an eyebrow and grinning, his fangs showing again.
<BR><BR>
"Up for another, Tenj?"
<Br><br>
"Keep them coming," Tenjukai smiled, figuring that if he was going to enter this contest, he may as well go all out. Besides, he didn't get drunk often so, it wouldn't hurt for just one night. It was New Years, after all.
<BR><br>
Hearing someone plop down in a nearby stool, Tenj glanced over and noticed another woman. In fact, now that he actually took the time to look, he realized that the bar was beginning to get crowded.
<Br><Br>
"Happy New Year. I'll have a chianti." Kyosuke had just handed Tenjukai another glass before looking toward the woman. He eyed her, his gaze traveling across her chest momentarily before he smiled. "Course, Lady. Comin' right up."
<Br><Br>
"Happy New Year," Tenjukai said this to the woman belatedly, and looked at Kyosuke with a bit of disgust. Guess he hadn't changed all that much. Well. Whatever. Picking up his second glass, Tenjukai took another sip.

happy new year, miss shadow

It was beautiful. As the naïve and curious Drew approached the opened doors of the Chrysocolla Estate, she couldn’t help but widen her eyes as they adjusted to the moonlit architecture. She was so used to her hollow apartment, it was a nice change to step foot in a more elegant building. The funny thing was Drew had been to the Estate millions of times before. But today, under the full moon, it was definitely something to marvel at.

She wasn't in love with dressing up, but at least Drew had thought to put effort into her makeup and clothing choice. As much as she hated to admit, she looked good in dresses. She wasn't an ugly girl; she was anything but. To see Drew in a dress was a rare spectacle.

It was naturally Drew to show up at the renowned New Years Festival after the countdown. She never cared for the wild rumpus that erupted at the strike of twelve. But at the same time, oddly enough, she hated missing the party. It really was a good laugh, watching everyone get happy and drunk. Drew wasn’t usually the type to drink, but she did love to watch and laugh from the sidelines. For Drew, laughing was an escape. When she laughed, she didn’t have to think, or remember her parents, or the fact that they abandoned her.

Drowned by the inane chatter and excitement of the villagers, Drew was overwhelmed. She'd lived in this town for several years, yet there were so many people she didn't know. She scanned the room for a familiar face, but she found zero. It didn't help that Drew wasn't exactly the most outgoing person.

"Happy New Years~!" Drew was about to respond until she realized the enthusiastic greeting wasn’t meant for her, but for the dark-haired boy in front of her. She watched curiously as an eccentric couple galloped toward the boy—and toward her, standing awkwardly like an unwanted shadow behind him. The boy was tall. She, on the other hand, was too short to be seen. What luck, she mumbled to herself. Drew wondered whether to back away slowly or to stay put.

She took her wine with a slight flush to her cheeks and sipped at it for a brief moment. It was always nice to get compliments but she felt it was more her shirt and the more exposed than usual flesh that were getting the praise .

"You're Julie, aren't you?..." well, it was nice to know he at least remembered. She took a bit to turn to face him. With a smile she nodded, a little more tongue tied than usual, owed in part to her own little attraction to the man, so drastically taller than her. Her suspicions were confirmed when another girl came, he had a way of looking at girls, gutsy and bold as it were, but subtle enough to be flattering. It was odd and almost made her brain hurt from the double standards and perceptions.

"Been a while." She started, smiling softly. "did she enjoy the book?" She figured something was up between them, the way they interacted. She figured she wouldn't have a chance romantically and part of her wasn't sure that was what she really wanted anymore.

She went silent waiting for an answer and didn't know if anyone had heard her, She took to sipping at her wine and looking between everyone. She found it amazing how glamorous everyone was.

There really weren't much to do. At least, not a lot he could accomplish by himself. He had moved around a bit to keep the circulation flowing, but ultimately Marzell was just tracing steps somewhere next to the entrance. Boring, boring, boring. There's no people suddenly hijacking the orchestra stage for some random reason, no mysterious food fights that started with a flying mochi, no mechanical gears that opens up the roof for a surprise stargazing event. It's all so typical. Marzell wondered if it was really a good idea to come here other than for the free food.<br>
<br>
Then again, free food's probably a good enough reason anyway. Still, Marzell's mood was getting more broody by the second. It's as if he was destined to have a dull night tonight. A dull, pointless night and a rather depressing New Year. Wincing a little, Marzell brushed the thought aside. The night's still long, so who knows what might happen? It's better to look on the bright side of things, or he might actually miss the fun bits when they start.<br>
<br>
"Happy New Year~!"<br>
<br>
Which, apparently, meant now. Initially, Marzell had thought the overly-excited greeting was aimed at the girl who was passing by behind him, so he didn't really paid much attention to it. But then the guy who shouted almost stumbled right into him, being pulled back at the nick of time by his companion. Marzell raised an eyebrow, what have we here?<br>
<br>
"Sorry, we've just been trying to get drinking partners. You any good at holding your liquor?"<br>
<br>
The one who pulled the guy back, a woman with fiery-red hair, smiled as she gave a quick apology and went straight to the point of why they were talking to him. Looking for drink buddies, huh? Well, it's not like he had anything better to do. Plus, if things works out as they usually do in these situation, it might actually be fun. Giving the pair a confident smirk, Marzell straightened up his posture a bit as he boasted. "Don't worry, I can drink a whole bar down and come out without anything more than a small rosy tint."<br>
<br>
Then, he looked back at the girl, who was hiding behind his shadow, hidden from view. Well, even though three's a nice number, it still feel a little to small. Things were almost always better with more people, after all, the more the merrier. Especially for drunken shenanigans. he could at least see the aftermath with his own two eyes, and that would be worth it. Satisfied with his own reasoning, Marzell moved a bit to the side, smiling cordially to the blonde. "And would you like to join us in our conquest for alcoholic sustenance, miss shadow?" He said, finishing his little parody of poetic speech with another smirk.<br>
<br>
Well, seems like the night might be a little more fun than he had anticipated. He wondered if things were going to start shaping up from now onwards. That'd be interesting.

The great things about parties was that things like this were marginally more socially acceptable. If they had marched up to this guy on the street, it would've been weird. Even creepy. But parties had this unifying atmosphere, they were all there for the same reason, right? In the name of having fun. That was probably why Abraham liked them so much. Everyone was like one big, drunk family. The two looked at the dark haired man they had addressed, hardly noticing the shadow of a blonde standing to the side.<br><br>

Chris chuckled. Confident, hm? She had no complaints, it seemed they had picked a winner here. "Great, you'll need that to out-drink us," she said, returning his self-confident smirk with one of her own. Abraham gave a little bounce, grinning widely. This was turning out splendidly! He blinked as the man turned away, revealing a young woman standing behind him. Had she been there the whole time? She looked about their age, blonde hair and blue eyes. Well, they'd expected only one drinking chum, but two? Two was even better!<br><br>

She didn't look the life of the party, but then again this guy hadn't either and he seemed to rise to the occasion. Abe leaned to the side, beaming at her. "Yeah, the more the merrier!" he said. Honestly he was still a bit iffy about drinking, what with how they had to go all the way back to the Mainland to get home after this. No driving was required, but the two of them stumbling home drunk after this? It had been a while though, him almost always taking the designated escorter.<br><br>

Chris, as if suddenly realising there were no names exchanged, nodded to the two drinking buddies and said, "I'm Chris by the way, and this's Abe." Best get them out of the way now when they were still sober enough to remember their names.

Drew watched in silence as they invited him to have a drink.

Great. They were interested in getting drunk. Drinking wasn’t exactly Drew’s forte. Once or twice she would have a drink or two, but she was not completely fond of consuming large amounts of liquor. She’d seen her older brothers horridly drunk before, and it wasn’t a pretty sight. Personally, Drew thought she looked underage, with her height and her baby face. She was only eighteen, after all.

Just as she was about to leave the scene, a confused look crossed Drew’s face as all three of them turned to her. So much for being invisible.

"And would you like to join us in our conquest for alcoholic sustenance, miss shadow?" The tall, dark-haired boy offered a smile, a trace of a smirk on his lips. It was quirky, the way he said it. He was good at this, not to mention kind of cute, if you put that snarky attitude aside. This was definitely peer pressure. It didn’t help that the other two had the same hopeful gleam in their eyes.

Drew blushed a little, heart pounding, considering her options. Her, drinking? That was probably a bad idea. Drew would not be able to out-drink any of them, what with her tiny frail body. Her tiny hands probably weren’t even big enough to hold the cup. The ball was in her court now. Normally, she would have refused, but was she really going to just stand and watch while everyone else joined in on all the fun? That was what she had originally planned to do. Well, maybe just a few drinks…

She didn't want to seem rude. "You know what, I think I will." Drew tried to return the smile, but it came out a little awkward. She glanced at the liquor-filled bar, wondering if she had made a mistake in giving in. But there was no turning back now. "Chris? That's a pretty name. I'm Drew. It's nice to meet you."

You know you’re going to regret this, Drew, she thought to herself, miserably. She was already starting to get nervous. Oh, well. It was one night. At least she was going to get a good laugh out of this.
