CHRISTMAS
<br>Winter 25th;; Year 07 || 1:00-9:00 PM
<br>Atmosphere: Jolly!
<br>The entire Estate is bustling and overflowing with Christmas spirit, right from early in the afternoon.
<br><br>
Lights and decorations line the path leading up to the Mayor's home, where they are in even greater abundance. In the front garden of the Estate, "reindeer" roam for youngsters to enjoy. While they look suspiciously similar to horses... they have antlers! Although they seem a bit flimsy and light, well that... That is the magic of Christmas. Regardless of whether or not they are real, there are 5 available for people to ride around the gardens two times a go. One of the Estate workers - dressed appropriately in red and green, with bells, elf ears and a hat to match - handles this, and simply needs to be approached if interested.
<br><br>
Inside, one is met immediately with the sight of a tall, healthy Christmas tree with nothing but a string of golden lights and a shining star on top of it. It is very high and very thick, almost reaching the ceiling and almost dominating the room. Upon further exploration, on the counter behind it, one can find a wide array of decorations. Anyone and everyone is welcome to decorate the tree as they wish, hanging up all the ornaments they so desire. Another elf attendant stands nearby with a ladder, for those who wish to hang things towards the top.
<br><br>
In the next room, one can find a long buffet table covered with food, as usual. All of the holiday staples are there: fruitcake, eggnog, apple cider, candy canes and a huge gingerbread house modelled after the Estate as the edible centerpiece. Of course there are also a variety of meats, pies, salads, pastas, soups and beverages ready to be consumed at any time. At one end one can find the plates, cutlery, napkins and cups; the tables on which to eat (each decorated with Christmas tableclothes and candy cane center pieces) are available all throughout the room. As there often is, half of the room as been cleared off and a small band is set up. People are welcome to dance and request songs as they desire. It should be noted though that there are a total of 8 boughs of mistletoe hanging from the ceiling in random places, some over the tables, some by the buffet spread, and some over the dance floor...
<br><Br>
The final feature at the festival that shouldn't be missed is 'Santa Claus'. Similarly to the "reindeer", Saint Nick looks suspiciously like a familiar figure around the town. But, the real thing or not, his gifts are not to be missed. The short, bearded man in red can be seen walking about with a large sack in hand, giving out nicely wrapped, identically sized boxes. Inside one can find an amount of money between 100-400 G, a candy cane or chocolate, and either a Santa hat, an antler headband or an elf hat. They maybe not the most spectacular items, but they are nice as little momentos from the evening.
<br>

One would think, with the name Christmas, that Chris would like the holiday of joy and good will.<br><br>

Well, you'd be wrong.<br><br>

Chris was, perhaps, the closest one got to the Grinch in human form. Being a thief didn't exactly make her the prime candidate for this whole "season of giving" thing everyone kept talking about. Yes, Chris was Mister Grinch. Ebenezer Scrooge. And every other character one could think of. Unfortunately as the Mayor's secretary she was deeply involved with the planning and sorting out of this party, and surrounded by the holiday. She had forced herself to come, don pointy ears and a elf hat, and with every movement she freaking jingled. Jingled.<br><br>

She tried to let none of this show, as she stood by the reindeer (or rather species-confused horses, and let's just say those antlers were not a joy to stick on. But as she observed the party, where some party-goers were just trying to get into the swing of things, her heart swelled in her chest. She contributed to this, and though frankly some recognition would be nice, just knowing that was nice.<br><br>

"Merry Chrisssssstmas, Christmas!~" a voice said in her ear, as a pair of arms draped over her shoulders. "And a happy new year!"<br><br>

Chris laughed, turning her head to see Abraham dressed in a Santa hat, matching the mayor. He looked less of a Saint Nick, though. Where the Mayor was round and had a tomato nose, Abe was skinny and well, his hair was blue. He did sport a white beard, so at least he was thorough. "Merry Christmas to you, too, Abe," she said, grinning at him. Abraham untangled himself from Chris, perking up as a familiar song played.<br><br>

"Hey! It's that rocking Christmas tree song. Wanna dance?" he asked, eyebrows raising in an exaggerated manner. Just being around him made her feel a bit more into the spirit of things.<br><br>

"Maybe in a bit, I have to look like I'm working, at least."

Christmas!<br><br>

Oh, it was her favourite holiday, there was no doubt about that. The love from one friend to another, the warmth of a yule log upon a fire. Presents, trees, the whole shebang. She loved it all. So it was no surprise to anyone who knew Sparrow that she bounced into the manor decked in reds and greens, ready for some traditional Christmas merriment. Much more than Halloween or Bonfire Night, Christmas was about the good in humanity. She was aware there was more to it than that, but to her it was all about good human spirit.<br><br>

The mayor had really out done himself, this was the best festival she'd ever seen (though she was biased). The tree was... magnificent. Sparrow breathed, amazed, and craned her neck to look up at the top. She had heard they were allowing citizens to decorate the tree, and had taken it upon herself to make some ornaments for the occasion. Her tree back home was sparse and frankly tiny, this one was a lot nicer. Now if only it could fit in her house.<br><br>

Taking an ornament (a little pink pig, so Toby would have his mark on the tree) out of her purse, she approached the attendant in front of the tree. "Pardon me, sir," she said, "Could I...?"<br><br>

The man blinked at her, and then said, "Oh, sure." He straightened the ladder so she could get up.<br><br>

"Ta," she said, grinning at him. Careful to not catch her dress with her shoes, she started up the ladder. As she got to the top, it started to wobble. "Oh, dear," she muttered, gripping onto the sides. This was not good.<br><br>

Tag::Abraham aka Mr. Marrow
<br><br>
Mr. and Mrs. Foster had told Joy-Anna that as long as she had been a good girl throughout the entire week they'd be able to attend the Christmas party. So all day everyday that week Joy-Anna was on her best behavior. She even went to the extent of helping her mother with her little sister. It was hard helping out with her baby sister since she couldn't really do much but what was a little girl to do?
<br><br>
~~~
<br><br>
It was now the night of the Christmas party and Joy-Anna was ecstatic. She rushed around her room looking for the perfect Christmas dress and after nearly an hour the little girl finally picked one out after trying on pretty much every dress she owned. It had large teal, pink, orange, yellow and pale green pokadots with a high waistline and a striped sash for the belt. Then after putting on a pair of white tights she placed a pair of pink high top shiny boots that had a bow with a rinestone. Joy-Anna was then forced to sit still as her mother used the curling iron in her hair. She wanted lots and lots of curls and that's just what her mommy did. Then last but not least a rather large matching bow, that came with the dress, was placed at the back of her head.
<br><br>
Looking at herself in the mirror Joy-Anna couldn't help but smile. She looked very pretty. Why she had never worn this dress before was beyond her but she was happy the dress had been saved for this very night. It wasn't a very Christmas colored kind of dress but that was okay. Hopefully it wouldn't upset anyone though.
<br><br>
It took another twenty to get bundled up in her puffy pink coat, white scarf, hat and matching mittens. Then finally it was time to go.
<br><br>
"Are we all ready?" Mr. Foster asked as he looked around the room at his beautiful girls and wife.
<br><br>
Joy-Anna nodded her head then followed her mommy and Lulu out the door.
While walking down the snow packed sidewalk the entire Foster family began singing songs to make the time fly by.
<br><br>
♪♪ Jingle bells, jingle bells<br>
Jangle all the waaaaay!<br>
Oh its fun to slide and slide<br>
In a one horse open slave ♫♫
<br><br>
Joy-Anna was the loudest of the bunch as she continued to sing on and on and even spun around here and there to add flare to the wonderful songs.
<br><br>
Once the estate came into view Joy-Anna couldn't help but come to an abrupt halt. Her little eyes stared with amazement at the beautiful lights and the decorations on the outside. Never had she seen such a site. It was all so colorful and just.. wow!
<br><br>
Joy-Anna was met with an even more surprise once they walked inside. There right in front of them was the largest tree she had ever seen. All she could do was stand there and take in the precious memory. If only tonight could go on forever.
<br><br>
"Take off your coat," her mother said while taking off Lulu's as well, "Then you can walk around some but be sure to check in with us every now and then okay?"
<br><br>
Joy-Anna slipped off her coat, hat, scarf and mittens and handed them to her mother. She then took off skipping towards the small crowd.
<br><br>
The first person she saw looked familiar.
<br><br>
"Mr. Marrow!" and excited little Joy-Anna called out with a little wave. She then began running across the floor until she found herself at the man's feet. "Did you see the tree with lots of lights on it?"
"Darn," Abe said, deflating some. He guessed she technically was at work, though you wouldn't guess it from her pointy ears and jingly bells. Chris didn't seem very happy about looking like she'd just walked off the set for 'Elf' but he thought she looked cute. Grumpy little elf. She cast him a look, one eyebrow raised.<br><br>
"Why are you smiling at me like that?" she asked, arms crossing over her chest.<br><br>
He blinked. "I'm smiling?" Abraham had thought he had a neutral expression.<br><br>
Chris scoffed, and with her hand batted away the puffy white ball at the end of his hand. "Yeah, you doofus. Grinning like a fool." For a moment she frowned at him, before her lips curled into a smile. Abe felt his own smile grow wider, before his eyes suddenly widened as he felt something press against his back. That's right! He'd brought a present... just a small one, he had other ones back home. It was a pair of ear rings, some woman had just left them lying about on a table! How silly, Chris would take much better care of them. He reached back with a gloved hand to present the gift, when a blonde girl bounced up to the pair.<br><br>
"Merry Christmas~" he heard Chris say, attempting to make her dialogue sound more genuine. She was an actress, once, and for a moment he had wished she had found a way to keep doing it. She was a natural. "Would you like to--" she paused, glancing over at Abraham when the girl addressed him.<br><br>
Abe looked down, oh! It was Joy! Or Anna! Joy-Anna! One of the kids from his class. He beamed down at her. "Hello Joy-Anna!" he said, giving her a thumbs up. "Oh, the Christmas tree? Yeah! It's pretty, isn't it?~" He'd planned on putting up some himself, but that could wait. "Have you seen the reindeer? And Santa?" Not quite as pretty as the tree, but no less Christmas-y. Ahh, he loved this holiday. It filled him with warm fuzzies.<br><br><br><br><br><br><br>
Christmas. A time of year for remembering what was important in life. A time to spend with family and friends. A time of giving and getting. Something that, until now, Amanda had never really experienced. Sure you could say there were 'company' parties, sort of. And there where always the Christmas missions. And suppose you could count those Christmas mornings back in foster care, with a dozen other screaming kids and presents like paper dolls. But none that Amanda could really recall with fondness. This year however was proving to be completely different than anything the former CIA agent had ever experienced before. <p>
"MOMMY! Ryan won't give back my doll!" The ordinarily adorable child that was Paige Woods screeched from upstairs. Amanda felt her body tense at the girl's sudden scream and nearly went for her gun which was strapped to her inner thigh and conveniently hidden beneath her emerald green dress and her gray trench coat. Her aunt Cynthia stood in the so called living room of the farmhouse, hands on her hips as she hollered back. <p>
"Ryan! Stop messing around and leave your sister alone. Both of you get dressed and down here NOW!" The former prosecution lawyer looked odd screaming at the ceiling wearing a black skirt with a red blouse and jingle bell earrings. Amanda hadn't gotten to know her aunt very well yet but this was the first time she'd seen her yell. A muffled response came from behind a closed door. Ryan was probably locked up in his room. The teen had no desire whatsoever to attend the Obsidian Christmas party. Paige however thundered down the steps. The ten year old was dressed quite festively with a lovely red velvet dress, white tights and matching shoes. Her strawberry blonde locks were tied back with green satin ribbons. She was quite adorable with her large blue eyes and completely innocent face. Clutched in her hands was a doll, a Christmas elf doll to be exact. Amanda thought the thing was hideous but the child loved it. <p>
"Hi Miss Ryker!" Paige called out once she spotted her cousin standing beside the front door. Though the two were related, the girl had impeccable manners and was still unaccustomed to referring to her newly found relative by her first name. <p>
"Hi sweetie. My you look pretty. And remember you can call me Amanda." Amanda grinned at the young girl and knelt down to her eye level. Paige scurried over and gave her a warm hug. The sudden swell of emotion nearly brought Amanda to tears. Why did she feel like this? She was just giving a little girl a hug. Yet the child tugged at the heartstrings of even the hardest of hearts. Amanda released her youngest cousin and glanced up at her aunt. Cynthia had been quite friendly when they had realized who Amanda was, yet she still seemed worried about Paige's strong affections for her cousin. To cover for her wary glance, the older woman moved to the stairs and called up them once again. <p>
"Ryan Woods are you ready yet?" A loud bang resounded from the second floor and stomping footsteps could be heard approaching. The sixteen year old appeared at the top of the stairs looking sullen. Ryan was generally a quiet and gentle youth but tonight he was in a mood. Unlike his nicely dressed sibling, Ryan wore baggy faded blue jeans, sneakers, a dark green sweater and a tan jacket over all of it. His dark brown locks fell haphazardly around his head, most hanging low enough to conceal his uncommonly colored optics. Cynthia gave him a dissatisfied look, she hated a messy appearance. Yet it being Christmas and as Ryan was already being defiant, she said nothing and made her way back to the door. <p>
Ryan stomped his way down the steps ignoring his cousin's gaze. Amanda smirked to herself finding his behavior rather amusing. As his cousin, she was glad she didn't have the responsibility of having to deal with him as a parent. Instead she tried to sympathies with him. A city boy who's father had been murdered and then dragged out to a small village to live on a farm where he knew no one and, being a bit shy, would have to start all over making friends. Voices from the kitchen commanded Amanda's attention. It was her grandparents, Lydia and Albert Ryker. The couple seemed to be arguing over what to have for supper. Due to their age the elderly couple were going to stay home for the evening. A walk in the cold just wasn't something they could handle these days. <p>
Cynthia helped Paige into a fluffy white faux fur coat then tied a red and white striped scarf about her neck. Once she was through with Paige she donned her own red scarf with green snowflakes. Ryan wore nothing but his jacket. He brooded by the door as he watched his mother put on the final touches of her make up. Amanda draped her own matching dark green scarf over her neck. Cheerily they bid farewell to the Ryker elders before departing out the door.<p>
It was a rather tedious walk. Cynthia was now pondering if she shouldn't have gotten a wagon of some sort. Paige shivered but was still glowing in excitement. This would be the first festival the young girl had attended on the island. In fact, it was the first for all of them. Amanda was a bit apprehensive about this whole thing. She didn't know what to expect and that was an odd feeling. And of course Ryan hung back looking as though a black cloud hung over only his head. <p>
Yet they all made it, a bit frozen but the bright lights of the manor managed to excite even the gloomy teen. People were traveling to and fro, most just arriving. Before they could even set foot inside, Paige began tugging on Amanda and her mother's jacket. Her wide eyes were fixated on the so called "reindeer". The young girl was absolutely enthralled with horses. Her mother had promised to buy a pony of her own one day. Tonight though her first desire was to ride a reindeer! <p>
"Mommy! Can Miss... I mean Cousin Amanda take me to ride the reindeer horses?" Cynthia glanced over at the beasts and sighed. She looked to Amanda who nodded with a smile. <p>
"I don't mind Cindy. You go on in and get warmed up." The weary mother gave her niece a grateful look then headed on inside. What had become of Ryan? He'd already vanished indoors not even bothering to wait and find out what his sibling was excited about. The teen had found himself a spot near the buffet and proceeded to watch the crowd. His mother simply wandered the room looking for anyone interested in a chat. Amanda and her young cousin made their way to the trio of humanoids who appeared to be in charge of the "reindeer" rides. A blue haired Santa, a disgruntled looking elf, and a brightly colored girl a few years younger than Paige. <p>
"Excuse me? Who do we speak to about the er... "reindeer" rides?"
Pine, cinnamon, and freshly baked cookies filled Holly’s nose as her family and herself entered the gorgeous house. Her eyes were full of excitement as she saw the beautiful Christmas trees along with Santa Clause. She couldn’t help but feel like a small child. More than anything in the world, Holly loved Christmas. It wasn’t because of the presents, no, it was because people came together.
<BR>
<BR>
Holly took her black jacket off because she was getting to warm. Her lovely dress revealed from beneath making her feel embarrassed. Holly wasn’t one to wear dresses but today she had dressed for the occasion. Her lovely pink hair was curled and pinned up on one side. The dress that she wore was white with golden trim.
<BR>
<BR>
Holly took notice that her parents were gone, it was a very normal thing because of how busy they are but it still made her feel a little sadden. She pouted for only a split moment. There was no way she was going to feel sorry that they weren’t around. Besides she was new, she just needed some new friends to be around.
<BR>
<BR>
She made her way towards the pine trees, it was time to have some fun. Holly gathered a few ornaments and started to place them where she felt they needed. One of the ornaments was a cute little golden star that she placed near a silver orb. The colors of the lights in the tree reflected off and onto her face. She giggled and started to place the others. They needed a home now too.
Madison had figured she'd give this Christmas festival a shot. After all, they never really did anything like this in New Orleans. It was kind of cool really. Having everyone in the town come together as one for christmas. Hell, she had even dressed up....okay not really. But it was a bit more feminine than usual! She had already worn her girly clothes last night. Why not have a bit more fun? <br><Br>
She was definitely ready to have a good time. Hell, she might run into Junior, or
Ah, Christmas. Regina remembered how they'd do this back at her old school. She'd always join in for the Christmas show her school put together. Singing christmas carols, some played on her trusty guitar. But here....it was reindeer rides and a guest appearence from Santa Claus? How interesting.
Not te most unique thing in the world, but hey? Who cares? It made people hapy so she didn't care. But she was able to show off her new leggings, and signature statement headband. A black one with a black rose attached. She looked around at everyone who had shown up. A family, a woman with strangely pink hair, and a few other people. So Regina attempted to socialize a bit, hoping someone she knew would show up.
Irene sat quietly at one of the chairs that had previously been pulled up to a table. She had moved it so it sat up next to the wall, near the Christmas tree. How unfortunate, she thought, that such a beautiful, magnificent tree was chopped down for show on such a commercialized holiday. Back in Denmark, and even in Russia, Irene spent Christmas quietly at home with her family. <br><br>
There was no presents or festivities, because according to her father 'It is the Lord's birthday, not ours.' But they did have a somewhat more fancy dinner together, because Irene's birthday also happened to fall on such a huge holiday. Her father did tend to drink more on those days, so Irene and her mother would spend time upstairs together after supper while her dad got liquored up downstairs with some friends.<br><br>
Seeing this, everyone dressed up, being loud in general, and having so many material things honestly made Irene very uncomfortable. Honestly, she didn't even know why she came to such an event. It was probably because she was feeling lonely, and didn't want to spend another birthday alone at home. Irene had actually been at her home earlier in the day, before realizing there was a festival. Since she had decided to in fact out, the woman felt she should wear one of her nicer dresses, with a choker that had a dark cross pendant attached, and nice black flats on her feet. <br><br>
She had made Emily dress up for the occasion too, which the girl had been less than enthused about, but seemed to be happy to come and meet new people rather than staying home. The girl was quite adamant about not going near Irene when they arrived though, having wandered off almost right away. Irene inhaled slightly, trying to enjoy the smell of the fresh pine tree while it was still alive, so that it didn't go to waste.<br><br>
