Junior eyed Madison curiously. Well, at least she was writing something, and knew what her story was about. But, being the bibliophile he secretly was, he had to say something. "Oh a vampire novel? Tch... You DO realize how popular those are right now, I'd recommend you start your own trends, don't start the novel with a particular theme in mind, write a story from your own imagination first." Junior smiled reassuringly, before realizing he might have said to much. <br>
<br>
He quickly turned his head away, a slight blush on his cheek. He hoped he didn't give anything away about how well-read he was. Talk about embarrassing. Normally he didn't talk so serious for so long, not with anybody.

Madison listened to Junior's advice with an eyebrow raised. "Hm? Well I guess you're right." she said rubbing her neck before looking back at Junior. "Wait....you seem to know quite a bit about books." she said with a smile. "Perhaps you'd be interested in reading this?" she began, as she fiddled through her bag and pulled out a page. "The rest is sort of lost, but I have that page. Tell me what you think." she said politely as she looked down in her lap.<br><br>

I ran the 2 blocks to the orphanage and grabbed my black book and drawing pencils. I decided to go to the park.

Once there I sat down on the old stone bench right next to a rose bush. There was one rose left.

That was kind of ironic, in a way because that's exactly what I felt like. The only rose in a bush of thorns and leaves. Except for I definitely could not be compared to a rose. I was not beautiful in any way,

I picked the rose knowing that no one would mind and laid it down on the bench and began to draw.

I drew for a good hour and a half before I decided to grab some lunch from the kitchen at the orphanage. (making sure not to get caught by Ms. Anastasia)

By the time I was done with that it was time for my detention. I went back to the detention room to see that Coach McDervan was in charge today.

"I wasn't expecting you Ms. Agustes after your little game of hooky today" Coach said with a stern look on her face.

I didn't answer.

"Take a seat." she said indicating an empty seat. I could pretty much do whatever I wanted so I decided to finish my sketch of the rose.

When I finished the hour was up.

I walked out of the door only to see Melissa and her boyfriend and their group of friends waiting for me.

Melissa is turning out to be the biggest thorn in the bush. And so far I'm still the only rose.
<BR><BR>

"I wrote it awhile back after my dad died and I got stuck at an orphanage for a bit." Madison explained. "But then Lisa came along and saved my ass." she explained with a laugh. Even though it really wasn't a laughing subject for her. "Melissa was my daily tormenter. She's partly the reason for my anger issues. You see she would constantly make fun of me about how my mom left me and I never did anything about it until one day I just...snapped and ended up breaking her nose." she explained staring down at her birthmark on her hand.<Br><Br>

"No one talks about my mom the way she did....I don't like my mom but...she's family...and not even I badmouth family." she finished before looking up at Junior with a smile. "S-Sorry. I'm starting to add a bit of angst to the place. Let's move on shall we?" MAdison asked with a slightly pleading look in her eye.

Junior smiled sheepishly when Madison said he seemed to know quite a bit about books. "Ah heh heh... Well, I don't thin-" Junior's eyes widened as he looked down at the page she set on the table. He let out a small breath before gently picking the page up and looking at. His eyes grew gentle as he read through the page, his eyes could be seen moving back and forth along the lines. He read every word carefully, making sure not to miss anything, before handing the page back to her. "It's very good..."<br>
<br>
As Junior listened to Madison his eyes looked down to his hands on the table. "So... It's a story of your life..." He looked back up at her, noticing her pleading eyes, asking him to change the subject. He smiled reassuringly towards her, before looking out the window. "It's starting to snow again... Suki's probably inside though... carving something up..." He spoke, his voice a bit more tired sounding. <br>
<br>
"Here's something to warm you right up then~" A rather cheery waitress, stood next to him, holding a tray slightly above their heads. Junior could see the steam and feel the warmth as the waitress set the bowls down on the table in front of them. Junior smiled, "Guess our little friend didn't feel up to joining us... Too bad..." Junior joked, referring to the waiter from earlier. The waitress chuckled when she heard this.

"A story about my life.....yeah it's kind of like that." she said with a smile. "I've been writing that story more than the others I have been working on. It's kind of like me...but still different." she explained. This girl was beaten by an abusive foster father. Madison's father never laid a hand on her. She was his precious treasure. IT was her mom she hated. After what that woman did to her dad and what she did to her life she could never forgive her mother.<BR><BR>

"Heh, guess not. If he did don't worry he'd have justice served to him." she said winking. "So anyway, what have you been up to recently? Like, have you settled into the island well?"

Junior sighed as he thought about how to answer her question. "Well, Suki seems to like the fact that this island is peaceful and full of quiet forests. But otherwise she absolutely hates school. She often get's picked on for her size and the way she is...." Junior continued to look out the window. "I think she'd like it if I built an extension on the shop so we could live there. That way we can move out of the apartment." He looked up with a soft smile on his face. He breathed in the steam from the clam chowder before speaking again, this time returning the question. "So what have you been doing lately. Certainly not JUST writing?" A smirk appeared on his face, as he waited for her answer.

Madison frowned at his mention of Suki. "I got picked on alot when I was her age. For my light austrian accent and for my well...you know." she said referring to her chest. "But after awhile I just stopped taking it and ended up breaking someone's nose." she explained staring down at her food. "You can't let the crap you say get to you....I learned that a few years ago but..it's hard so I know how it can be." she said sighing.<br><br>

"My house is decently sized. It's enough for me, Lisa and Zach to live in anyway." she added to his commentary(?). "Actually I have been busy." she smirked. "I work as a waitress at the bar, I'm working on a young boy's farm, and of course there's school." she told him. "It's been good. And I met a lot of people." she added.

Junior stayed silent. Hearing Madison talk about her past was hard. It was like looking at a future version of Suki. He couldn't tell which was worst, growing up abused, or watching your parents die before your eyes. Looking down at his bowl, he had almost finished his soup. He started to lighten up a bit when Madison said she her life was going well. A soft smile came on his face. <br>
<br>
"That's great... " He went a little quiet for a moment as he looked away. "Hey... Let me know if you need anything, okay?" He said, a light heat rushing to his cheeks.

Madison sighed deeply at the idea of seeing her mother again. While she loved her father dearly she was so mad at him when he started dating other women. she hated her mother for cheating on her dad, but she didn't want dad to cheat on mom. Not in the slightest. she was angry at both of them. The only person who was really a father to her was Lisa's dad.

Upon hearing his words a warm smile came across Madison's face. "...Thank you Junior." she said smiling happily. "You're the first person here to offer to help me. Thanks for that." she said as she got up and kissed Junior affectionately on the cheek. "I gotta go. It was nice seeing you." she waved, and placed her money on the table walking out.
