Today had definitely been a lazy day. Sure, work had been done, but not much. It was getting closer and closer to winter and soon enough she wouldn't be working on her crops for a little while. For some odd reason, she could never really get anything to grow during the cold season. Sure, she was great at getting things to grow it was just during that little time period that everything would die. It was cold and dreary during that time, yeah, but most farmers could still grow crops. Her grandmother use to tease her about how her little green thumb could only go so far.

With a small sigh, Honey set her forhead in the palm of her hand while her other hand gripped the hot apple cider. Today had been long and she just wanted to nap now. She hadn't even wanted to get up in the first place. With how chilly it had recently gotten, it had left the young woman wanting to stay in bed later and later. It was too cold to really get up and work. Well, okay, so it wasn't that cold. Yet, she just couldn't stand waking up early on a cold day and working. The warmth of her heated home and cozy bed was always way more welcoming.

Taking a small sip, she smiled. Mmm, just the right temperature for such a chilly temperature. A hot cup of anything was nice on lazy days like this. Plus, a nice book and blanket, it would be perfect. However, she wasn't at home and she really wasn't in the mood for a good book. Actually, Honey was more in the mood of sitting here in the small cafe, listening to all the chatter around her. It was always nice to hear the chittering of friends hanging out or the sound of a mother cooing to her baby. People watching was definitely one of the girl's more favorite things to do. Yeah, she was quite shy, but that didn't mean she didn't like to watch people interact. It always seemed to fascinate her. The way people treated and reacted to one another.

Blowing across the top of her apple cider, she allowed her eyes to wander about the room. It was definitely packed today and it had taken Honey quite a bit of time to find this little table for two in the corner. It also just so happened to be the only table left with an empty chair. Thankfully though, no one had come in looking for a chair as of yet.
The bell above the door tinkled as the door opened and closed. More people were coming. She hadn't really been paying attention to who had walked in though. Instead, she was holding her scarf and coat around her more tightly. The sudden chill had left her shivering. Sure, she was wearing jeans and a simple shirt, but it was still cold. You would think the jacket and boots she had on would help too. Yet, Honey tended to be a an odd ball. She so easily got cold. Even on the warmest of days, at some point she would end up slightly chilly. Her mother used to say she was cold blooded.

Smiling softly to herself, lost in memories, Honey sipped some more from her apple cider from her cup. Swinging her feet underneath the table, she thought back to her visits to her grandmother when she was littler. It was so hard for her to believe that it had been nearly five years since her grandmother had passed.

"Jacob! Coffee run, please~!"
<br><br>
"Oh, Jacob, you'll go for us, won't you?"
<br><br>
"For us wee little nurses?"
<br><br>
... Jacob sighed, shaking the voices of his memories out of his head. A while ago, his schedule of solitary shifts was changed. Now, every other weekday, he was on duty with several of the other nurses, all of whom he had only met for the first time last Friday. On top of discovering the other women working with him, he was shown yet again in life that first impressions really did last. Unfortunately(?) for him, this time his initial impression with the strangers was not a negative one. No, they hadn't been intimidated or scared by him at all. In fact, it was the complete opposite - because, you know, seeing a grown man trying to secretly hang up a kitten calendar has that sort of effect.
<br><br>
Remembering the scene, the man cringed. Ugh. The three women - the same he worked with today - had come in so silently. Were they part-time ninjas? Honestly, he hadn't heard anything until they burst into squeals and snickers, a point at which it was too late to hide or cover up. As the man made his way to Fluorite Cafe, he unconsciously shrank into himself all over again, his eyes narrowing. Ugh... the majority of people did not know of his 'secret passion', so it was rather agonizing to have strangers - and women, at that - find out so... so quickly. Shaking his head, the man pushed open the door to the cafe, grumbling quietly. Still though, he supposed couldn't complain - it was a positive image, after all; they had even called it 'cute' through their gushing and giggling. But then why does it feel so awful, he thought, shoulders slumping as he picked up a menu by the entrance.
<br><br>
... Maybe because they're manipulating me into doing coffee runs to the other side of town, he thought, blankly looking up from the menu.
<br><br>
... Anyway. Looking back to his choices, the man sighed. It at least gave him a break from their chattering and teasing for now. Hopefully though, they would grow tired of it soon. It was horribly embarrassing having them know his little 'quirk', and it really only amplified the awkwardness of socialization. And contrary to how boring his job was sometimes, he did like going to work and having something productive to do. Besides coffee runs, that is.
<br><br>
Sighing again, Jacob put the menu down and looked up. Maybe if he bought some cakes or something they would get off his back. Now, did the cafe had some sort of take-out system? Loosening the scarf around his neck, his blue eyes moved over the crowd. He had always eaten in, so he couldn't be quite sure... But, a frown soon came over his face when he saw that there was nothing. So maybe... he had to sit down and order it in a container or something? ... That seemed rather inefficient, but he couldn't quite think of anything else to do and so he ventured further into the cafe, looking around for empty seats.
<br><br>
It didn't take a genius, though, to see that the place was full. Packed. Glancing at his watch, Jacob frowned. Didn't people have work at this time? Eyes narrowing, he set his hand in his pocket and continued searching. There were absolutely no empty tables, but... oh! Conveniently, a table with an empty seat snagged his attention... however, he saw that there was already somewhere sitting there - a dark-haired woman whose face was turned away from him. Pausing in the spot, Jacob contemplated his options. Well... he could just sit there and order, and then leave. But was she waiting for someone? Was someone already sitting there, and just in the washroom? Uh...
<br><br>
Looking around again, he saw that the only people up were the waitresses, all of whom were busy going here and there, keeping up the service in the packed establishment. Damn. He had been hoping to just catch one and ask for his order, but it seemed all of them already had enough on their plates. So then... what? Did he stand and wait for a table? Er, but. Frown deepening ever more, he looked back to the empty seat. It seemed stupid, just standing and waiting when there was a possibly vacant chair just sitting there. And what if someone else came and took it? He'd be stuck waiting even longer, and while he did want to avoid as much nurse gossip as possible... he didn't want to be suspected of skipping or slacking off.
<br><br>
Groaning inwardly, Jacob found himself worked into somewhat of a corner. No choice then, he thought grudgingly as he walked over to the woman's table. Standing next to it, he cleared his throat. "Is this..." Jacob looked up from the seat to the woman, and when he saw who it was, a tinge of surprise shifted his rather monotonous tone as he finished: "... Taken?"
