Black Shadow
Unregistered

Posted Image

A dark shadow began to slowly appear at the end of the Estate's walkway as the sun began to set. It seemed to get closer with each passing moment, smoothly gliding over the terrain until finally her black lace heels hit the cobblestone steps leading up to the doors. The soft clicking of her stilettos echoed against the outside wall as she quietly made her way into the elaborately decorated estate. It truly was a sight to behold with the sparkling chaneliers and beautiful glowing lights. Even the villagers, all dressed up, seemed to add to the glorious setting.

Still without a word the woman swished gently through the small, but growing, crowd in her black satin strapless ball gown. The bodice featured a gorgeous hand-beaded emboirdery that was echoed on the hem along with the soft drop waist silhouette and draped pick up skirt which flattered her body well. Her lips were painted a soft pink and her dark emerald eyes seemed to stand out even from beneath her black laced mask while small parts of her dark hair were pinned up with small diamond pins as the rest of her hair curled softly down to her mid back.

She came to a stop as she approached the middle of the room and began looking around at the other villagers. They seemed to be enjoying themselves already even though the night had just began. Hopefully soon she too would follow behind the others engaging in light conversation as the night's hours passed until the clock stuck midnight.

The masquerade. She had been so excited for it. If only because she'd never really been to one. There had been that one... but that hadn't been very exciting. It hadn't ended on a happy note, either. But now she'd been given the opportunity to really experience a real masquerade. The lovely outfits and masques, the people, the dancing. Her heart was racing beneath her chest and her cheeks felt flushed with excitement.

White heels clicked on the pavement she made her way into the estate, full skirt swishing about her legs. Her dress was rather simple, nothing too elaborate. It was blue, mainly. The section around her upper torso was white and off-shoulder, just a tad bit on the revealing side but nothing too extreme. No sleeves, but she was wearing elbow-length white gloves. The top layer of the dress split in the middle and spread a little, revealing a completely blew skirt underneath and ruffled. The top layer had an ocean-like design, swirling in various places across the dress and with delicate white lace around the edges.

It puffed out widely, only the top hugging her form until it flared at her waist into the skirt. Rather simple indeed. A simple white mask adorned her countenance, concealing her identity to an extent.

Her hair had been meticulously curled and put into a rather lovely up-do. The curls falling gracefully to the sides of her face with smaller curls at the nape of her neck.

Her eyes peeked through the mask as she entered the estate, enjoying the classical music that floated around as she looked around for people that she might possibly recognize, even through their masks. That would be the excitement of the night. Trying to find someone she knew amongst the money attendees from beneath their masks. Would anyone be able to figure out who she was? Perhaps it wouldn't be too hard.

Heels clicked on the floor of the estate as her skirt swished around her as she made her way over to where the music was playing; nobody was dancing. Yet.

A woman with long dark hair pulled back into a ponytail paused at the entrance to the estate, taking in the quite lovely decor. She noted the candle-like bulbs, and thought that they had pulled off the proper aura pretty nicely. Taking a small breath, she stepped into the already pretty crowded room. She was wearing a soft, slightly shimmery yellow dress, that went to just a few inches above her ankles. The shoes she had chosen were normal white pumps, with a little flower decoration at the top on each shoe.

The mask she wore was decorated on each side with moondrop flower petals. They were more than likely not real, as it would have been quite difficult to get those in mid-Autumn, but due to her lengthy time in working on it, it didn't look half bad. However, if a person couldn't tell, then she would not be the one to tell them otherwise. That was half the fun, right, and what this night was all about...guessing.

Lifting her head high, she strolled right on through the crowd and towards the punch table, pretty much ignoring everyone else. There were a number already gathered here, and it rather appeared that there had just been some sort of scuffle or something, but she simply ignored it and got herself a cup of punch. Standing back a moment, she looked around, wondering at the costumed peoples around her, if she knew any of them.

Yes, she was free tonight! A young lady, dressed in a calf-length red dress, smiled to herself and, as calmly as possible, headed on into the crowd at the estate. She had on a dark green mask, that went from the top of her lips to just above her eyebrows. She had added her own red sparkles on either side of the mask, as well, to add in just a little more sparkle. She paused just inside, looking around. There were quite a few people here, already...

Skirting the edges, she now found herself standing in front of one of the detailed landscape paintings. It was in a pretty nice frame, too, Candy noted. Scrunching up her face, she leaned in to get a closer look...was that dust? Leaning back, she let out a sneeze. Ick. One would think that they would at least clean off the paintings before such an event, yes? ... But still, it had some really nice detail to it, she couldn't help but notice.

He stood by the entrance, leaning against the wall just inside the door. A frown could be seen on his face, underneath the black mask that had the width from his upper lip to over his brows. On either side of the mask, below and to the side of the eye, was a single silver sequence. More than likely, not put there by himself.

He had a cape tied around his neck...why? He didn't even have a sword, it was ridiculous...though the sword may have also been pretty ridiculous. Breathing out a sigh, he shifted, crossing his arms over his black shirt. Black slacks, today he was completely in black. Anyone that knew him, though, would know that this was not such a strange thing. Glancing around the room, the curious thought of wondering if he did know anyone here crossed his mind, but it was quickly washed away as he began to realize just how many people were here.

And people were still coming. Hm, well at least it wasn't quite so bad, being here by the door. He didn't look like he was enjoying his time, and so just why is he here, might you ask? There is a great possibility that he was dragged.

He smiled as he walked on into the room, his silver, slightly glittery mask concealing his identity. ... Not that it would have really mattered, he probably didn't know anyone here, anyway. Once inside, he looked around at all the wonderful decorations. They had really made it up nice, in here today.

Some people had really gone all-out, he noticed, as far as the costumes go. And, he also noticed, some had opted for quite the strange end of costumes. Ah, but that made it all the more enjoyable, yes? Not quite sure what to do with himself, he started to wander about the main room, pausing every now and again to just look at various things. Maybe he would eventually get up some courage to talk to someone. Eventually.

With or without the mask, this guy knew that people could, more than likely, tell who he was. But he didn't let that stop him from dressing up! In strode a man just over four feet tall, dressed in a black mask, that he probably made himself as it appeared to be of cloth, a black hat, black cape (that is actually a black jacket with the arms tied around his neck), and a (fake) sword!

He just about spun around the room, trying to take in everything at once. Hm, well, with him being like a moving-picture hero he had heard about...he needed to find some damsels in distress! However, with so much spinning around he had been doing, he was now dizzy...and as he tried to take off forward, actually found himself going backward. Straight into something warm, and soft...[]iuh-oh/

Spinning around again, he stood and looked up at the lady in a mask that he had accidentally bumped into. "Pardon me, ma'dam!" Zed cried out, bowing slightly, trying to keep himself as in-character as he thought he could be. This would be much different for him, but hopefully fun!

"Oh, that was too close! But thank you for the exciting beginning to the night, eh?" Receiving a happy pat on the back, Lady Hawke let out a sigh of relief. Then suddenly striking a heroic pose, hands on her hips, she replied, "But of course~! That is what I'm here for, Mademoiselle~!" Noticing that she was now looking around for napkins, the gold bird quickly went about gathering some up for the mermaid~! After all, birds were the greatest at collecting things.

Aiding the red head in wiping off her arm, she smiled at her. "No I'm not hurt. You're quite soft." Grinning she chuckled gathering up the now dirtied napkins. Of course now she just had a hand full of sticky paper...and no trash can. Frowning, she looked around, careful not to let her beak knock into the woman beside her. "Hey, you look great! Some sort of bird, right?" Looking at the mermaid, she grinned. "Not that I could tell from the mask, of course." "Haha, thanks! You can touch it if you want." It was her pride and joy after all! "That's so cool!" Flushing with pride, Lady Hawke grinned more, chuckling sheepishly. "Thanks, I made it myself. I think it turned out pretty well."

Stepping back some she took in the whole outfit of the mermaid and nodded approvingly. "I think you very lovely~! To me you look like a mermaid! You chose a really great outfit." It was true too; she might even go so far as to say Miss Mermaid was the loveliest one there!...but she would keep those kind of sentiments to herself. Didn't want to be rude or anything.

Pausing in his search for his partner, the Pirate King looked around and wasn't at all aware of the sexy cat until she was right on top of him. Literally. Falling forward, he luckily caught himself before he face planted. Didn't want to hurt his glorious mask after all! Readjusting, he began to stand, as the cat woman fretted over him, helping him up. Looking down at her...and down her shirt, he quickly looked away. "...it's alright. It's kind of grounded in here, ya?"

Glancing down at her, he smirked lightly, gently patting her shoulder. Careful to keep his uncovered eye planted only on her face, he cleared his throat. "So...that's...um...quite the outfit you have there." Not really a better way he could think of saying, 'very boobalicious' without getting slapped.

He noticed that few people were dancing, perhaps nervous to begin, or maybe they were still soaking in the atmosphere. He hadn’t danced, himself, busy glancing through the crowd, having fun guessing who was who. In all honesty, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to know. It spoilt the mystery. The good thing was, everyone seemed to be getting into it. Wearing masks that weren’t always the most concealing, but at least nice. His, half-gold, half-black. There was a crown on his head to represent the vague historical icon someone had suggested for him.

The one who created the Holy Roman Empire. He could get used to being a King.

He brushed through the crowd, ignoring the food and drink stand. He found himself standing beside a woman in a yellow dress. No idea who she was, how old she was. It was a little intimidating, he could be approaching someone a lot younger than him. That would make the reveal all the more interesting, no. No, not interesting, awkward.

“Not many people moving,” he noted, whether to himself or the people around him, he didn’t know. The good thing about this costume is that he didn’t have to even attempt to hide his accent, in fact he sounded more French than usual. “Maybe they’re nervous.”

"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry!" He stumbled away from a woman that he ran into, but when they growled a response back in a low voice he could only assume that had been a man instead. Oh, Goddess, that was twice as awkward, then! He murmured a very quiet little whine as he got back on track, holding back the temptation to stick his hands far in front of him in order to guide through the crowd and avoid running into people again. This was terrifying, it really was. Everything was one big blur of different colors and shades and tints and shadows and light and he definitely didn't like it, but the damage was already done and there was absolutely no use in crying over spilled milk. He just needed to get through the night with no damage done to himself or to others, if he could help it, though that desire seemed less and less likely with every passing moment.

He was dressed rather plainly, to be sure, but his clumsy nature meant that he would no doubt have the ironic nickname Slick for tonight. It was a simple white button-down shirt and a pair of black dress pants, with his large feet encased in black dress shoes and black socks. His incredibly lanky figure was very obvious from the way that his clothes positively hung on him. The mask he wore, however, was a great spectacle in and of itself, being very similar to a bird. Its beak stuck out several inches and played havoc with his vision right now, as he couldn't see beneath it to see if he would be stepping on anyone shorter than him.

He met the refreshment table very abruptly, banging his legs into it, and sucked in a quick breath so that he didn't cry out. A shadow was somewhere in front of him, telling him that he'd come to the wrong side of the table as well. "..." Slick very carefully felt his way around the table until he stood beside the shadow, turning his head to look at the shadow and hoping that he didn't poke it in the face with his mask "Hi. Umm. C-could you do me a favor?" he asked, his voice cracking slightly on the last word. "Can you hand me a glass of punch? I'm having trouble right n-now." He extended his hand, but instead of it going toward the shadow it stuck out a few inches to the side, making him look incredibly awkward, as per usual.

A gentleman appeared beside him rather suddenly, one that was quite a bit shorter than he was, and Enigma stared down at him for a moment the instant that he was in his path. Hmm. Obviously this gentleman didn't pay much attention to where he was going, or he would have seen Enigma plowing right in that direction. Well. Fine then. He supposed he didn't actually have to go that way, then. Enigma came to a stop with a bit of safe space between him and the tuxedo-clad male, turning back to face the crowd as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"..." He supposed it might be uncomfortable if he merely stood here, not paying the intruder any mind. Enigma cleared his throat, turning his head to look down at him and nodded. "Good evening." And then turned back to look at the crowd of people milling about. There was a great debacle occurring at the refreshment table, as there often seemed to be, which told him that he should stay far from there. No one was dancing, and he wouldn't dare to, of course. So it looked as if he was stuck here for the entire night.

Might as well get comfy, then.

"It's a lovely scene, don't you think?" he asked, his voice low and soft as usual, as he began to lightly drum his fingers against his arm and to tilt his head slightly to the side.

She looked beside her, and saw a man with a crown on his head standing there. Blinking, she thought that was a little haughty, yes? But then again, it was a masquerade. And, with a smile tugging on her lips, she supposed someone had to rise up as King over them all. She suddenly felt like curtsying, and declaring herself positively astonished that His Majesty would be speaking words with a lowly servant, such as herself. Or, flower, if one wanted to go by her costume.

"It appears so," she spoke softly, trying to water down her deep southern accent to make it more neutral, and harder for someone to tell where she was from...key word being, try. "Mayhaps they are awaiting a royal decree from His Majesty?" She said, a smile now upon her lips, as she turned towards Charlemagne. She might be talking about him, or more probably, was actually talking about the mayor.

Just then, her eye was caught by a plainly dressed man, who was stumbling around...was he drunk already, she wondered? She watched his approach, and winced, as he walked right into the table. That had to hurt. His mask was quite pretty, she noted, but soon found herself leaning away from it so that it wouldn't be at so much a risk of putting out her eye. Hearing his request for favor, she blinked at him, a frown tugging on her lips, but she assented.

"A glass of punch? Of course," She spoke, keeping her voice light. She turned to the punch bowl, putting down her glass and reached for an empty one, and filled it a little less than full with the punch, perhaps in efforts to make it less likely for the man to spill it.

"Here you are," She said, putting the glass into his hand.

Finally!

At long last something exciting and rather interesting was happening on the island, something worth seeing and doing, something not many other places did which made it even better.

She would be able to attend this Masquerade, whether he wanted her to or not, and nothing was going to stop her from having a good time, besides the fact that alcohol wasn't allow. What a stupid rule anyhow but if she planned on enjoying the entire night she would have to follow it, but just this once.

Around seventeen minutes pass the hour the young beauty finally arrived at the busy estate. Before even entering the building music and voices could be heard and shadows of different figures could be seen through the windows. It was all too exciting!

Without speaking a single word, for the moment, she opened the large doors and entered into the lobby. The image before her looked like one out of the movies. Beautiful woman all dressed up in different styled gowns along with their matching masks seemed to walk swiftly around the room and the men, all dressed up in their capes and masks, definitely added to the picture.

The girl was wearing a golden mask adorned with simple jewels around the edges. Then on her body she wore a simple two piece golden swimsuit, which showed off her young body rather nicely, with matching sky-high golden heels from BCBGirls. Her hair and skin tone also held the same color of her mask for she had spray painted her body a nice shimmery gold in order to complete the look she was going for.

After standing in the entrance way for a few more moments, taking in the view before her, she decided to walk further into the well lit room.

Hopefully tonight she would run into others her age for she didn't want to be stuck in a room full of old people.
