Summer 28th, Year 7<r>

3:32pm

<br>
<br>
All day long Leon had been working hard out in the pasture with the animals without a single bite of food in his stomach since yesterday evening. So after making sure all the animals were locked back up in their field, stall or pen Leon went in search for some grub. It took nearly thirty minutes before Leon even made it to the outskirts of the village and soon enough he found the Flourite Cafe.
<br>
<br>
As he opened the door he noticed how the place was nearly empty, afterall it was late afternoon. Most everyone else had already had their noon meal by now.
<br>
<br>
After finding a table Leon picked up the menu and began scanning its pages. Just about anything sounded good to him at the moment. Five more minutes went by before Leon had finally chosen what to eat. Now he just had to wait for the waitress.

"The cafe should be right around... Ah! Here it is!" Skylar finally came upon the cafe. It was so far from the rest of the village, she wondered who had thought to build it there. Well, she supposed it wasn't that far. And she had been rather curious to see the cafe. The woman was perfectly content with cooking her own food at home, but it was always an experience to go out and indulge in the delicacies of the island.

The quaint little cafe looked very peaceful where it was positioned. Skye stared momentarily as she listened to the sound of the water crashing down from the falls. Excited, she nearly skipped to the entrance of the cafe before entering. The place was somewhat empty, she was disappointed to find. It would have been nice to see it bustling with people chatting and eating their food on a carefree day. After all, it was the weekend! And it would have been a good opportunity for her to meet someone new...

Skye scanned the cafe and found only a... silver-haired? man and a couple of older women off to the side chatting. Weighing her options, she decided to go with the man. He seemed lonely and perhaps she could ask him for advice on what to get! Skye did her best to slip onto a table next to his without being obvious about it and opened up the menu to scan her options.

All the options seemed rather normal, which disappointed her somewhat but perhaps the way they cooked it was different? Here, she decided that it would be a good time to ask the silver-haired man what his opinion of the cafe was. She had been sitting back to back with him so she turned slightly and tapped him on the shoulder. "Excuse me," she began, her voice somewhat soft since she didn't like being loud when it was so quiet. "Would you have any recommendations for a new comer here? I can't decide on what to get..."

Five minutes went by and still no waitress showed up at his table. He wasn't in any big hurry or nothing so it wasn't really a big deal, however his grumbling gurgling stomach thought otherwise. So while patiently waiting Leon took off his hat and set it in the seat next to him and then leaned back in his chair. He then looked up towards the ceiling and began thinking about all the late afternoon chores he would have to attend too and all the running around he would need to get done before the Fall really set in.
<br>
<br>
He needed to make sure the Ranch had a good supply of hay for both bedding and food supply. More animals would be arriving soon as well and he'd have to clean out the stalls and make sure there was enough room for them all. So much to do in so little time but that's how Leon liked it. He wasn't much of a social person so the more he had to do the better.
<br>
<br>
Just then a voice interrupted his thoughts.
<br>
<br>
"Excuse me," he had heard, "Would you have any recommendations for a new comer here? I can't decide on what to get..."
<br>
<br>
Leon leaned forward and looked over to his left. There sat a blonde haired woman. He couldn't help but notice the colors of her eyes next. They were a strange color, yellow maybe. No. Leon wasn't exactly too sure what color he'd call it, for he had never seen eyes that shade before.
<br>
<br>
Once he realized he had been staring into her eyes trying to decipher the color Leon quickly cleared his throat in embarrassment. "Oh uh," he stumbled for words at first before regaining control. "I'm sort of a newcomer as well. Never been here before," he admitted before leaning back in his chair again.

Skye waited for the man to answer her when he turned to look at her. She was still waiting, expecting him to say something when he stared at her. Skye could feel the color rising to her cheeks as the silence ticked on. Had she spoken out of line? Perhaps she should've just stayed quiet and perused the menu and just picked something... And why was he staring at her? Did she look strange that day? The woman had an urge to get out a mirror and look at herself but no, she had dressed rather simply that day; white capris and a yellow off-shoulder t-shirt.

Even her hair was mostly just tied into a ponytail... Then he seemed to finally realize that she was waiting for a reply since he stumbled over his first words, "Oh uh, I'm sort of a newcomer as well. Never been here before," This made Skye frown slightly. "Oh.." she replied, a little disappointed that she wouldn't be able to get an opinion from him.. Ah well.

Her smile changed into a smile and then said, "Is that so? Well I guess we'll both be in for a surprise! I've heard that the food here is exceptional!" She chuckled softly. Then she turned her attention to the menu and let her eyes scan over it again. "I guess I'll just get this, then..." she murmured before placing the menu down. Turning around again, she decided to strike up some conversation. "So how long have you been in Obsidian?" she asked, "Oh! And my name is Skylar, by the way. But you can call me Skye."

Leon thought he could detect a bit of disappointment in her voice and wondered just why that was. He wasn't going to ask her of course so he just shrugged it off. "There seems to be a lot of newcomers this month," he said out loud although it was really just a thought he had voiced out loud.

"Is that so? Well I guess we'll both be in for a surprise! I've heard that the food here is exceptional!"

"I've heard that too," Leon admitted before deciding to pick up the menu again. He had made his mind on what to order but for some odd reason he felt like changing his mind. "So what are you going to order?" he asked while his eyes continued to scan the page before him. "I'm thinking about either the chicken strips or the chicken sandwich with a bowl of clam chowder," Leon told her, "which would you prefer.. I'd like both and I can tell you how good it is."

[[ooc: Sorry I was super late! x_x -had almost forgotten about the topic- [/shame]]]

"There seems to be a lot of newcomers this month," The man said.

"Oh.. have there?" Skye wondered idly. A rather rhetorical question. She was new herself and she hadn't really met too many people yet. But there was definitely more opportunities to meet new people. After all, she would be staying in Obsidian. It definitely seemed like a nice place to stay .. for good. She didn't have any inclination to leave the island.

When the man asked her what she would be getting, she said, "I'll be getting the veggie salad with a bowl of the clam chowder. It sounds delectable!" Skye had always been a fan of clam chowder and was happy to see that they served it here. "But I guess we'll have to put in our order and wait for them to bring out the food before we know how well they live up to their reputation." she commented before waving over a server.

She placed her order and her drink as well, since she had neglected to do so when she had arrived.
