"Y-yes, I am." He nodded meekly, watching his brother scurry off with a mournful expression. "Oh god...Zen.." He whispered more-so to himself. He half understood What Zen must be feeling right now, when the poor guy got attached, it meant something to him. "Hmmm...Uh.." He turned Back to Cyrus with a sheepish expression, not able to look him in the eye for a moment considering he hadn't actually expected to win a date. "Well...hmmm....Anytime is good for me, I'm an in house physician and he can take care of himself....so when-ever is convenient for you." He pursed his lips slightly.

Gabriel, to be honest, wasn't quite sure what to think of the people in this town.

In the middle of his interaction, a young and fair-haired woman came up to him. Gabriel looked down when she greeted him, and promptly received a compliment on his own name, as well as hers. And then without another word the woman - Heidi, her name was - swept on. Baffled, the blonde man could only stare after the female... before turning back. All right. He... wasn't quite sure what that was about, but he kept the woman's name in mind for another time. Perhaps, that was a strange way of reaching out to him.

Shrugging it off, Gabriel went on with his activities. A little later on, though, there was another interruption. The mayor had gone up on stage, requesting that people come up and give some information about themselves. The man did not look over, though; at least, not until the first person took the stage. "I'm a magical ninja and I love you!" their voice squawked over the crowd. Frowning, the blonde man turned his head to see a male dressed in nothing but a mask and boxers. Raising an eyebrow, he watched the antics a little... and was rendered speechless again. Nonetheless, he found himself captivated by the nonsense and listened with an odd fascination... at least, until the room's attention shifted to a young woman whose polka-dotted southern undergarments were exposed for all to see.

... Again. He wasn't sure what to think, but he kept the peoples' faces in mind for future reference before he turned away again.

Later on, Gabriel gave the mayor his attention again as the short man began to read out the results of the bidding. He listened, a little bored as names he did not know were read out to him. They were nothing of use right now. Just as he was about to space out a bit, the mayor paused and Gabriel's attention perked up. What was this? He focused a little more and a smile grew on his face as the mayor reported a single woman's long list of won dates - one of which was with him.

Chuckling, Gabriel found himself glancing around the room. What an interesting evening... though, he couldn't quite decide if everyone in the town was insane and in dire need of help... or if they were all perfectly happy.

Ah... things certainly proved to be... eventful.

The first oddity to roll around was in the form of a young woman. Out of nowhere, a woman came up to him and greeted him, taking a moment to read his nametag. Turning to her, Jacob blinked slowly as she glanced from her own tag and then into her eyes. Huh? Who was she? Where did she come from? Why were there so many people just appearing in front of him? And why did they all have to be female? However, the man was so busy asking himself these things that he missed the woman's name. And by the time he tuned back in, she had left with a giggle.

... Okay. Well. That was a bit odd, but Jacob decided it was just another display of Obsidian's infectious friendliness. Shrugging it off, he turned back to his business.

A bit after that, the mayor called to have those up for auction come up to tell a bit about themselves. Upon hearing this, Jacob's stomach churned. No... anything but that. Glancing around nervously, he attempted to find a place to hide. However, luckily for him, another man took the mic - one who was sharing more than enough for everyone. Blinking, Jacob actually found himself straightening up to get a better look at the boxer-bearing man on stage. Huh. He chuckled a little. All... right then. Was he drunk?

The tall man continued to watch, quite amused. Though his amusement faltered as 'Susan' began to laugh, and then motioned to a young girl who had apparently been pantsed. Frowning now, Jacob began to feel sorry for the girl. He wondered if he should help... but decided not to. She would probably be fine, and to be honest, he didn't want to put himself in the spotlight. And so the tall man went back to his affairs, only turning away to listen to the mayor's announcement.

This is it, he thought, as the man began reading through the names. Clenching his fist, he felt his heart beat a little faster in his chest. He had managed to stay fairly low profile most of the night... except for that one girl in the beginning, no one besides the people he had speaking with came up to him. Still, Jacob found himself praying franctically for his name not to be called. And for a while, it seemed like he was in the clear... But of course, it was at the end that he heard his name... amongst a ton of others.

Withering inside, he placed his hands over his face. Why...? Was this Jewel Hale that person who had come up to him earlier? Dammit! Now what was he going to do...? He couldn't handle a date, especially not with a stranger...

"Thought so, thanks for bidding on me, then." He still wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but thought it was probably best to just keep talking. "I wasn't sure I was even going to be bid on, but now I have two dates." Cyrus laughed. He still felt a little bitter about Jewel bidding on every guy (and one girl) in the place, but he would get over it. Maybe tease Jewel about it if she came near. He wondered how much it cost her. Morigan didn't respond for a moment, staring at the door to the exit.

Inn-house physician? Was that similar to a doctor, maybe he could weasel Adrienne in somewhere, she would have loved to meet a doctor. "Well, I'm free almost any night, too. I have a daughter but she's twelve and can take care of herself, she gets insulted if I mention a baby-sitter."

He frowned, thinking of all the places they could go. "How 'bout the cafe? Or the bar?" Cyrus paused. "You'll have to do all the drinking, I've been sobre for years." He had this feeling he was talking too much, a combination of confusion and the fact that Morigan wasn't talking that much.

"Oh, you have a daughter? I'd love to meet her sometime, I've never had time for kids of my own." He smiled a little. "Oh and I never drink, It's too taxing thanks to my BMI." He lifted a hand and chuckled. "There's some nice restaurants on the mainland, we could go somewhere fancy, maybe bring your daughter along with us if neither of you protest." He offered up to the idea, he had to file a few things later on, forward his mailing address to obsidian and the like.

Unlike most women, who had some sort of mind set of what was appropriate and classy, Jewel was actually excited about all the dates she had won. It would be the perfect time to weed out the weak ones, the ones who would not make suitable husbands. Though, she did kind of wish that the Mayor hadn't announced it over the speaker. In fact, as she looked up at Zen, she REALLY wished he hadn't. "We already have a date plan set up....I"ll see you then..." "Wait, Zen--" But he had already pulled away from her and was walking away.

Cupping her hands over her mouth she called out, "I BET THE HIGHEST ON YOU!!" It went quiet for a moment, as some people turned to look at her. Dropping her hands, she looked around, then glared. "What in the hell are you looking at," she snapped. Stepping away from the drink table, she headed for the door, feeling like everyone was staring at her.

What have I done? She had come here for a good time, not to have this pit form in her stomach. The way Zen had spoke...the way he hadn't even looked at her...it was like being back home all over again. What have I done? What have I DONE?!

“Yes, a twelve-year-old named Adrienne,” he said, glad the conversation was jumping to something he could relate to. “She’d love to meet a doctor, she wants to be one herself one day.” Nothing like talking about kids to get his mind off whatever else was going on. He ran his hands through his hair, and took a breath. Well, he’d landed two dates. One was a man, the other had bid on about twenty other guys. He wasn’t sure which one was worse, at the moment. At the very least Morigan was kind, so long as he didn’t think he was… well, gay. Cyrus was sure Morigan could tell.

He nodded. “That sounds great, how about next Saturday?” There was no question as to whether Adrienne would come, he just had to mention Morigan’s doctor-hood and she’d be bouncing at the opportunity. “My mailbox number is twenty-one, so if anything comes up contact me.” His eyes scoped out Jewel again, he wasn’t sure why he wanted to seek her out but he was anyway. “And now I’ll go visit my next date, unless of course she has guys clambering all over her.” That didn’t sound bitter, did it? Cyrus smiled at Morigan. “See you later.”

The crowd was beginning to thin at this point, people had arranged their dates and left. It was easy enough to locate and move towards Jewel.

”I BET THE HIGHEST ON YOU!!" Cyrus stopped in his tracks, looked away a second, thought about leaving. Kept on moving. He had only met her twice, he couldn’t expect anything more. Keep telling yourself that, he thought.

“Jewel…” Cyrus said, she looked a little distressed. Tread lightly, lest he awaken the beast. He found he was at a loss for what to say, what with his mood and her mood. It was a day to go down in the history books, Cyrus being unable to speak. Finally he mustered something. “You’re going to be busy over the next few weeks.” He laughed weakly.

Cyrus raised his eyebrow, peering at Jewel. “Are you okay? You look a bit… anything I can help you with?”

Oh God. It was Cyrus. Stopping, she waited for him to come towards her, though the way he was looking she kind of wished she hadn't. Well just add that to my fucking long list of regrets.

“You’re going to be busy over the next few weeks.” She just stared at him, unable to actually be mad at him. I deserve all of this. Sighing lightly, she crossed her arms and nodded. "...yeah." "Are you okay? You look a bit… anything I can help you with?”

Looking him over, she barked out a dry laugh. Rubbing her forehead, she shook her head. "Umm...well if you could help me look any less like the slut that I am, that'd be really great. Since, apparently I just make matters worse for myself." Giving him a tight smile, she tugged at her necklace some. Well. At least you don't look trashy. Hopefully

After a moment, she sighed again, this interaction only seeming to make her feel worse and worse about herself. "Okay...well...I think I've embarrassed myself enough, so I am going to go home and try to pretend to my children than I'm a good person. Have a good night, Cyrus." Giving him another tight smile, she headed out the door; she didn't want to see his disappointed looking face or hear one of his weak jokes. She got it. She had hurt him. She was an awful person.

But what right did he or Zen have to be hurt? It wasn't as if they were dating! Neither one of them had officially asked her to go steady with them! Stomping down the street she gritted her teeth. Just...forget it! You made a mistake and you need to move on!...at least Daniel will still love you...he always will... A few tears running down her cheeks, she found herself walking faster. At least HE won't be disappointed in me!

“Aislinn, trust me…you haven’t said anything wrong at all.”

The other girl's reassurance eased Aislinn's thoughts somewhat. And more so as Jill continued to explain why she thought her brother was acting the way he had so far. She was surprised that her idle comment could affect her new friend so much. But it made more sense when the reasoning was explained to her. Her frown eased into more of a smile again, relaxing as she let the explanation ease her mind a little.

Aislinn was about to say something when a loud tapping filled the room and the young woman winced at the sound. Her attention turned to the stage, like everyone else and she listened as the mayor said something about having them come up and introduce themselves a little to put themselves out there. She figured that she didn't really have to go up there.. since she was almost positive what her outcome would be. If it had been different, then she might have gone up to introduce herself.

But then some odd man went up there, dressed quite bizarrely and said a few bizarre things... Well, that was enough of a reason for her not to want to go up there now... “…whatcha planning on doing, then? Gonna go up and talk about yourself?" Jill asked her and Aislinn turned her eyes away from the stage and looked back at Jill. She chuckled softly and shook her head. "No... I don't think there's a need to. After all, it gives you a better chance of winning the bid, no?" she asked, eyes automatically searching for Will.

The young woman watched as a few people actually did come up and introduce themselves and it wasn't long before the Mayor was back at the mic - and thankfully not having to tap it this time around. A few minutes later, the bidding results had been announced and Aislinn wasn't surprised to hear that Will - or rather Jill - had won the bid on her. She glanced over at the other woman and grinned. At least things were going according to plan.

"That went smoothly.. I suppose." Aislinn noted, chuckling. "Now to see how Will reacts to this..." And on that note, she turned to look to see if her friend had finished refilling their drinks.

"I'll write you then." He chuckled softly, waving to him as he left. Cyrus went right over to Jewel. He figured this would be very problematic. He Pursed his lips and took his leave, he still had someone to arrange a date with so he merely took a look at the little profiles, took note of her address and made a note to visit her early in the week or sometime Sunday afternoon.

He took his leave without any trouble, hoping to god Zen wasn't trying anything terribly rash. He'd have to get over this, he just had to, he wouldn't give his brother any other option.

"Umm...well if you could help me look any less like the slut that I am, that'd be really great. Since, apparently I just make matters worse for myself." That didn’t make Cyrus feel any better. Cyrus frowned, and creased his eyebrows, looking worriedly at Jewel. “Don’t say that, Jewel. You just look overeager, that’s all.” This was sounding pathetic, he probably should have just left. Damn it, Cyrus felt like he was back in high school, the last place he would ever want to be again. He had dropped out, so this would be karma’s way of paying him back, he supposed.

“… Have a good night, Jewel,” he said, giving her a small smile. Cyrus laughed. “Tell Daniel that Adrienne rescued a seahorse on the beach.” He didn’t have a right to be angry, didn’t have a right to be sad. At least not enough to make her feel so terrible about it. Now Cyrus was the one feeling like shit, and all he did was… forget it. He’d think about it when he got home, he knew he would forgive her, he always did. You’re just a bit raw, that’s all. he thought.

Cyrus sighed, and shook his head. He watched Jewel leave, and waited a few minutes before leaving himself. “You are a sorry sack, aren’t you?” he laughed to himself. How he wanted to be home now, Adrienne would be waiting. Expecting good news, but would comfort him if it wasn’t.

He shoved his hands into his pockets and kicked a stone down the street, anything to take his mind off the night.

Derek knew there was something important going on today, but... What was it?

At about 8PM, as he was settling down with another "meal" of hot chocolate and enriched milk, that he finally remembered.

Date Auction!! He was a contestant! He had no idea why he'd signed up for it; actually his aunt Ida Mae had probably signed him up for it all the way from her new home in Mississippi... He had no memory of it.

But it was written all over the calendar that he never looked at. How could he have forgotten?!

He gulped down his meal and rushed to clean himself up and put on a fresh set of clothing. His formal clothes were usually pretty clean, since he, well...hardly ever used them. Dressed in gray slacks with black suspenders and a sloppily tucked-in shirt, he arrived at the estate three hours late. He didn't know what was going on, but he did see a nametag with his name on it, sitting by itself on a table near the entrance. He grabbed it and put it on, then began wandering around...wondering what he was supposed to do!

As Dustin attempted to hand off the mic to his irritable little “friend,” a hand on his shoulder and the words “Hey cutie” threw him into a strange sense of déjà vu. Was this how all girls flirted around here? How uncreative. “A ninja never reveals his identity,” he replied blandly. “Which is why I had my mask surgically attached to my face.”

When the blond girl directed his attention once again to her friend, he simply took a bow. “There’s no need for shame. My ‘junk’ has that effect on people,” he said, looking over at the blushing teen. Her anger was honestly too easy to provoke.

However, before he could await any sort of reaction to this statement, something else stole the room’s attention-- the mayor had stepped forward again, this time to announce the bidding results. What happened next made little sense to Dustin, but what he did gather was that, one, irritable girl was pissed, two, her boobs were apparently deadly weapons, and three... Girls were just plain violent. Ah well. What else was new?

He stood blank-faced between the squabbling girls, a human shield, before the pair went running off to continue exchanging blows elsewhere. “What charming young ladies,” he said dryly to no one in particular. “We’ll need to all have tea together sometime.” He shook his head and chuckled quietly, but quickly perked up when he heard his name being called amid a myriad of others. Well, someone was certainly desperate.

The random catfight that had taken place had caused him to miss the name of his bidder. A minor setback. He’d figure something out. Walking toward the exit, the young man waved a hand as he called back over his shoulder, “Thank you citizens for taking this deadly ninja warrior into your hearts and making his heart feel warm and fuzzy.”

Madison glared at the ninja boy. "Oh, bite me boxer man. Like I said, your junk has no effect on me I just like your boxers." she said blushing at the way it sounded. She then heard his sarcastic remark. "Yeah, and afterwards we could see who's cup can fit all the way down your throat." she mumbled as she conversated with Lisa. Lisa looked at the ninja. "Come on now Madison. If you ask me, he can shove something down my throat anytime." she said. Madison got what she meant and socked her in the arm. "Gutter mind!" she said laughing. Lisa smirked. "That guy....is strangely interesting. I'm gonna see what makes him go weak in the knees somehow." she said looking over the guy. Madison looked at Lisa with an eyebrow cocked.

"If you say so. But first I'd suggest you make sure that's a guy and not a transexual or something." Madison said bluntly.

Heidi continued to run from man to man looking at all their nametags. If they weren't wearing one she just took a mental picture of each one by blinking her eyes once heavily while staring right at them. She continued this until she made it completely around the room or until the ninja appeared on the stage. "Oooo," she said outloud while walking closer to the stage to get a better look. He was rather entertaining except his name didn't quite fit his personality.. Susan. Who would name their son Susan? It was a girls name for pitty's sake. There was no way Heidi would ever consider such a man. Her man needed a strong name to support their children someday.

Not too long after Susan got off the stage did the Mayor appear and announce the winning bids. When he said her name Heidi couldn't help but laugh and clap out loud in excitement. "Yay! I win," she announced to all around her. There as just one thing.. Heidi didn't remember seeing Derek. Was he too a ninja hiding in the shadows of the Estate or was he some short man, so short that she had skipped right over him. "Derek!!" she called out loud over the top of everyone else's voices, "oh Derek where are you my mini munchkin!" Heidi then went over to the food table and looked underneath. Nope. No on there.
