For this special day the largest room in the estate has been carefully cleaned, and tables have been set up around a central stage. The café has been kind enough to offer to cater for the event, and all beverages, appetizers, and items from the café's <a href="http://z10.invisionfree.com/Ocean_of_Stars/index.php?showtopic=121" target="blank"><b>dinner menu</b></a> are available for no charge whatsoever! This is a perfect time to sit around and mingle with any who catch your eye, and <b>all who will be available for bidding are wearing name tags so that they can be easily identified!</b> (So make sure that you include in your post that your character is wearing a name tag, OK?)
<br><br>

The bidding will start later in the evening, but since <b>this is a silent auction, all bids must be PM'd to Marie!</b> Of course, you can RP it out, too--your character can write down how much they are going to bid for a person, or strike a deal with the person they wish to bid for, or...whatever, but make <i>sure</i> that you PM your bid to Marie. Otherwise, it won't count!
<br><br>

<b>Bidding can begin at any time</b>. (The mayor will make an announcement shortly - e.g., once Marie can do it. XD) When bidding, make sure to state:<br>
<ul>
<li>Which character is making the bid</li>
<li>Who you are bidding for.</li>
<li>How much you are bidding.</li>
</ul>
<br>There are <b>29 people</b> (see list below) available for bidding. Once a total of <b>30</b> bids have been submitted, then the results will be announced. (That number is subject to change if the bids come in really slowly or really quickly.)
<br>
One character can place more than one bid, but if the same person ends up winning multiple bids... Then you'll have to work that out yourselves. (Dates at different times, perhaps?)
<br><br>
<b>Current number of bids:</b> [bidding is closed]

All of the money collected at this auction will go to the town's bank account.

Evening already. Where had the time flown by to? Honestly though, what had compelled Aislinn to enter this silly auction? Well, she supposed it was due to the fact that it seemed like an interesting idea at the time... but she hardly knew anyone in the village. The amount of people she knew she could count off on one hand. At least she wouldn't really be disappointed or surprised if nobody bid on her... After all, it would be expected, even though she wasn't sure just what to expect of this whole ordeal. Who had come up with the idea anyhow?

Aislinn had arrived at the estate a little after when it had started and grabbed a name tag to write her name on it. It appeared to her that at least the people would be given a chance to mingle before bidding and the name tags would help others know who was up for grabs ... or something of the sort. She'd dressed nicely that day, having gotten ready before she'd headed out. But little had she realized that she had spent that long; at least she'd given herself plenty of time. The young woman had wanted to look nice; after all, she had put herself up for a 'date' auction. It's no surprise that she would want to look her best, right?

Though her wardrobe wasn't the largest, Aislinn had a nice selection of clothing to choose from. From those, she had picked out a simple blue dress. To her it had seemed simple but in the back of her mind she hoped that she wasn't overdressed. As for her hair, she'd merely tied up into a half ponytail. The evening was cool enough that she didn't have to put it all the way up. No make-up for her, as usual, since Aislinn didn't really like it much. It made her face feel heavy; but she did put on some lip gloss.

Having just arrived, Aislinn could spy a small crowd in the area already but no faces that she recognized yet. So instead of just staying around somewhat awkwardly, she proceeded to get a small plate of snacks and sit at one of the tables that had been set up. All there was left to do was to wait and see someone she recognized or for someone to come chat with her, if that's how these things went.

“So, why did you drag me along again, Jill? You…didn‘t sign me up for this thing, did you?”

Brown eyes blinking in confusion, Jill looks back at her older brother and gives him a playful punch in the arm as she grins. A good hearted guy, but a bit on the naïve side…an easy target of amusement for the black haired girl indeed. Now laughing, she turns back to Will with an innocent look on her face.

“Of course not, Willy! Would I do that to you?” Jill asks before quickly speaking up again. “And don’t pick the obvious answer! I actually thought that it would be fun to come and snoop around.”

‘Snoop around?’ Yeah, that sounds really suspicious in Will’s mind. Truth of the matter is, money is starting to become a little bit of an issue for the Fortune siblings. The last thing Jill needs to be doing is wasting her money on a date. She’s…pleasant enough, most of the time. She shouldn’t have any troubles landing a date of her own. Then again, maybe he should just be taking this at face value. After all, she’s growing up. Besides, if she was planning on going on a date, odds are she would have spruced up a little more than her usual tank top and skirt ensemble. Nodding his head and seemingly putting himself at ease, Will feels a tugging at his shirt sleeve a couple of moments later.

“Hey, you wanna do me a favor?” Jill asks, handing Will a Pink Cat Flower that she had tied up into her side ponytail. “I gotta go and fix my ponytail up. Hold this for me?”

Nodding his head, Will watches as his sister disappears into the ever growing larger crowd. Looking at his own wardrobe, the man can’t help but chuckle at himself. Black shoes and slacks, white buttoned up shirt, and a blue necktie. Then again, seeing as how it’s his first time around such a large group of Obsidian’s residents, the man figures that he may as well try to make a good first impression. After all, even if he isn’t planning on bidding or being bid on, he figures he ought to try better than faded blue jeans and a t-shirt. Damn itchy tie...
__________

”He he…well, technically, I did have to go fix my ponytail.” Jill chuckles to herself as she casually makes her way through the tables. ”Hmm…well, just what was that girl’s name that Will was telling me about? Annie? No…Amy? Damnit, why couldn’t he have told me when I was paying attention!? Stupid Will! Here I am trying to do him a favor and…”

Trailing off from her little mental rant, Jill notices a girl in a blue dress sitting at a table by herself. Well, the hair color matches from what Will had told her. A quick scan at the girl’s name tag and the lights go on in the young woman’s head. ‘Aislinn!’ That’s what it was. She knew it started with an ‘A’ at least. Chuckling to herself, Jill casually makes her way over and takes a seat next to the woman.

“Hiya, Aislinn!” Jill cheerfully chirps, extending her hand. “I’m Jill. Nice to meetcha!”

Hm. Well, surely he might be able to find someone here that might be relevant to his interests.

The blonde man paused next to the wall, stepping aside for a moment to adjust his nametag: 'Gabriel Costa', it read in simple black letters. Once satisfied, he loosened his red tie a little and adjusted his clothes. He wore his suit casually, leaving his shirt untucked, his collar loose and the jacket unbuttoned. Strictly formal wear was always so constricting, so suffocating - he much preferred this sort of style instead. Besides, it didn't seem like anything more would be necessary for such an event. So long as he wore a confident smile, Gabriel was reasonably sure that he would be completely fine.

Once he was content with his appearance, the man placed his hands in his pockets and began circulating in the auction's main area. It was still early, so there were still only a few people wandering about. But from what he had heard on the streets, there were quite a few people - both men and women - auctioning themselves off. Smiling to himself, Gabriel began to idly study the food laid out. It was a quaint little idea, this 'date auction' - he wondered what kind of person thought of such a thing. It was a good idea - both profitable and amusing. It gave people a chance to meet others, and possibly find that so-called 'special someone'. If they were interested in such things.

Personally, Gabriel had no such desires. Of course, his intent when signing up had been solely for the sake of his life's goal. While it would not directly help anyone, the man hoped that it would allow him to meet someone that he could. Surely the person who bid on him would be connected to him by some sort of fate? If not, perhaps they knew someone he was meant to meet instead. Or in the case that no one bid on him, well, there was a chance he would meet someone here. And if nothing happened for him, at the very least he tried.

Leaving the food, deciding to return to it later, the man walked away, off to mingle and see what he might find.

He was late, and with good reason.

Everything about this spelled out disaster. Jacob could not see this turning out well in any case. Any idiot could tell that he was not the type of man for this type of event. And yet, for some reason, such an obvious fact escaped his little sister, who was so considerate as to sign him up without even the smallest word until an hour ago.

An hour ago. If Rozelyn wasn't family, he would have...

The man took in a deep breath (a very deep one), getting a grip on himself. Well. Although he was hardly pleased with the rashness of his sister, there was nothing to do now but go with it. And even if her intentions were part mischief, they were also part good. Sort of. Jacob sighed, glaring down at his sister as they entered the mayor's estate. She was smiling, positively illuminated with happiness. At least one of them was in a good mood. After they walked through the doors, she pulled him to the side and reached up, adjusting his button-down shirt. "Remember! I want a sister-in-law soon, okay? You're not a young man anymore," she said cheerfully, undoing the top few buttons, leaving his shirt more casual-looking. Finally, she pulled out a nametag from the pocket of her jeans and slapped it on his chest. "Even if you didn't change out of your work clothes, I guess you'll be fine."

Stepping back, the dark-haired woman looked up him and down before she gave a nod of approval. Beaming, she gave him a light punch to the chest followed by a hearty thumbs-up. "I know you're not too happy, but just relax! Try to have some fun, and I'm sure you'll be fine. You might even meet a nice girl here! Really, you never know~!" Rozelyn shrugged her shoulders, chuckling. She took a moment to look around before meeting his eyes again. "Now, I'm going to let you do your stuff, you chick magnet, you. I'll be rooting for you when it's your turn!"

With that, she was off. Jacob stared, dumbfounded, after her. It... it was hard to be angry at her for long. It was a little frustrating, but Jacob was quickly finding himself much too tired to care anymore. An hour of arguing, kicking, screaming and being dragged here had been horribly draining, especially after a long day of work. With another sigh, he leaned against the wall. Maybe if he was just wholly uninteresting and unappealing, no one would bid on him and he would be saved the future awkwardness of a date with a stranger.

In an effort to get started on this, Jacob slowly began to inch into the corner, away from the crowds and the mingling.

ROSALINA:
Rosalina was fiddling with her nametag. She was so embarrassed by all of this. Well, not so much as embarrassed, but flustered. She's not the type of person who would do this. But she needed to build up her confidence if she was going to start teaching again. And she wanted to do something new. She sighed a breath of nervousness as she walked around. She had simply worn her brown sweater and a black skirt around down to her lower thigh. With black boots up to her knees very little of her smooth legs could be seen. She tilted ehr head down blushing as men stared at her.

Aislinn picked absently at the food on her plate. They were all small bits of food, easily put into her mouth without having to take any bites and thus resulting in crumbs on her table. Her eyes scanned the growing crowd, watching as more and more people filled up the room. The chattering was getting louder, more than a soft murmur that it had been when she'd first arrived. There were already people conversing everywhere and perhaps a little flirting thrown in too. It wasn't surprising, since they were at a Date Auction. Some people looked smug, some looked bored, and some excited or neutral.

As for the young woman sitting all alone at the table. Well, she was one of the more neutral ones. Sure, she was somewhat excited and intrigued by the whole event but she was unsure about how it would turn out; after all, she was new and who would bid on her? She shook her head slightly as she thought to herself. It wouldn't do for her to think so negatively. It was supposed to be a ... fun, she guessed, event. Aislinn looked around again and perhaps spotted a familiar black-haired man off in the distance... But she couldn't be quite sure.

Having turned back to her food and contemplating on whether or not she should get a drink as well, Aislinn didn't pay attention as people continued filling up the empty tables beside her. When suddenly a cheerful voice called out her name beside her, she jumped slightly in her seat.

“I’m Jill. Nice to meetcha!” The girl introduced herself, hand extended.

It took Aislinn a moment to reach out her own hand to shake Jill's. Then realization hit her and a wide smile spread on her face. "Oh! You must be Will's sister!" She exclaimed, giving Jill a quick handshake, using both her hands instead of just one. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well!" she continued, letting go of the girl's hands and taking in her features. She definitely resembled Will, she mused. Then Aislinn looked around before turning back to Jill. "Is Will here, too?" she asked, wondering if her newfound friend had been dragged here by his sister. Surely he hadn't entered the auction?

Giggling as she watches the woman nearly jump out of her chair, Jill’s grin grows even larger as Aislinn recognizes her right off the bat. Well, a woman that actually listens to Will…not bad at all. The black haired girl finds herself being slightly surprised as Aislinn shakes her hand with both of hers. Outgoing, friendly…Will’s either going to kill him or thank him for what she’s planning. Looking on as her newfound acquaintance as she looks around, Jill’s grin somehow manages to grow larger still by her next question.

”Is Will here, too?”

Nodding her head in acknowledgement, Jill quickly scans about, trying to remember just where she left him at. After a couple of moments, the girl’s eyes light up as she spots her older brother, still holding her flower and standing about, looking perfectly oblivious. Realizing her situation, only one word comes to the black haired girl’s mind.

”Showtime.

“Yeah, he’s here. Over that way.” Jill finally replies pointing to his location. “But before we go over there, I was kind of hoping we could have a chat. Girl to girl, y’know? It’s about my brother.” Jill pauses briefly, taking a brief moment to make sure that the exaggerations she’s going to start telling are going to match up with each other. “Well, you see my brother really had a good time with you yesterday. Even if it was a little…strange. Matter of fact, he couldn’t stop talking about it. He likes you, Aislinn. A lot.”

Jill takes a break from speaking, looking over her shoulder at her still oblivious sibling. To be fair, he did talk about it for a little while during dinner. And he did say she was really nice. And he did say that he liked her. Technically the girl hasn’t lied yet. Merely, she has just exaggerated a tad. Ready to keep that ball rolling, Jill turns her attention back to Aislinn, a (planned) nervous look on her face.

“So, that being said…would you mind if I went and bid on you? For his sake? You see, he’s really shy about these kinds of things. You’d be doing him a favor. And hey, you might just have a fun time yourself! After all…” Jill pauses briefly as she looks back at Will, the figurative smoking gun in his hand. “…he did bring a flower along just in case he ran into you. And he‘s really not as much of a dork as he comes off as once you get to know him.”

At the sight of Jill's nod, confirming that her friend was in the vicinity, Aislinn watched as Jill then started looking around, quite likely for her brother. When the other girl points out where Will is, she was about to get up and greet him when Jill started going off about needing a girl to girl talk. Aislinn blinked. What did the sister of her new friend need to talk to her about? Maybe she had some questions that she needed advice on? But surely the two had been here longer than her and Jill wouldn't have any trouble finding another female to confide in, especially with her personality. She seemed ten times more outgoing than Aislinn.

"...He likes you, Aislinn. A lot.”

The last line of Jill's monologue made Aislinn pause and look incredulously at Jill. Then she blushed. It was definitely flattering that his sister would be telling her this but again, it was his sister, and not the man himself so she wasn't quite sure she could take her word on that little note. However, Aislinn had blushed only because people never really confessed to her, however second handedly. She was fumbling over her thoughts when Jill looked back at her with a nervous expression.

The other girl continued telling her about how she wanted to bid on Aislinn for Will's sake. Aislinn blinked again, looking around a bit insecurely about her person, somewhat flustered. Then she looked in the direction that Jill had looked and Aislinn saw Will standing there, indeed with a flower in hand. She blushed even deeper. It had to be a coincidence, right? After all, the two had met only the other day. It was nearly impossible for the man to have developed any feelings for her... Aislinn honestly wondered if Jill was playing a joke on her brother... But she supposed if the other girl wanted to, there shouldn't be any harm in going on a date with Will. After all, he was a really nice person.

So on that mental note, Aislinn looked back at Jill. "Well... I don't mind... " she told her, chuckling softly, "But aren't bids usually silent?" she asked, calming down somewhat as she had reached her decision but that oh-so-persistent blush stayed. And then, worried, she continued, "I do hope you don't spend too much money... I highly doubt anyone else would bid on me anyway and it wouldn't do to waste your money on something like this." Aislinn appeared to be genuinely concerned about that certain issue. After all, the two were living together on one fund, surely they would need all the money that they had. But perhaps the two had more money that she thought..

She sighed inwardly and figured to let things go as they would. After all, she had been the one to put herself up for the silly auction. At least it wouldn't be only the two siblings that would be spending money for a date with someone. Then Aislinn remembered something, "Well, now that we have that out of the way... I promise not to tell Will. Mind if I go say hi, now?" she asked, grinning sheepishly at his sister.

<font face="verdana" size="0">Four hours had been spent in preparation for the date auction and Sachiko was determined to be the star female of the night, the one that all the bids had been sent towards, the one worth thousands and thousand of gold. Then she could brag. She could brag for days and weeks, seasons and years and centuries. She could tell stories to her future husband/prince (if there were to ever be such a man), to their children, to everyone. <br><br>

That night she was clad in a lacy black dress that had a pink ribbon wrapped around the bust area. The bottom of the dress flared out with layers and layers of lacy and slinky see-through fabric, giving off something that Sachiko hoped resembled a princess with their long, poofy and elegant dresses – only hers was about fifty times skimpier. She had even pulled the hem at the top down a little bit to show as much cleavage as was socially acceptable and her hair, unlike its usual ridiculous hairstyles, floated elegantly around her in big, round curls. <br><br>

Not because she thought it was a simplistic and beautiful look, but because she simply had spent too much time dolling up her face and everything else to pay too much attention to it.<br><br>

“Hmmm...” Sachiko murmured to herself as her black heels clicked through the doorway, a wave of warmth sucking her quickly into the room. Without taking a moment to pause she began to tour the building taking slow and deliberate steps, her eyes occasionally settling on someone elses before turning away again. She wanted to make an impression; a solid one, bold enough that all eyes would be on her but not so intimidating that no one would want her as a date.<br><br>

A few times she saw some men who were moderately attractive, however she wanted to make a proper, ladylike impression that evening and knew that her usual accidental bump and clumsy antics wouldn't work, yet at the same time she disliked the idea of introducing herself to a man first. So instead she simply drifted around the room aimlessly, searching for someone who seemed equally as alone as she was.<br><br>

Finally, Sachiko spotted a blonde man who seemed to have no other company and decided firmly that he would be her first introduction that night. Taking a few steps towards him, Sachiko turned her body towards his and gave him a subtle smile, hoping that he would receive the message. Now it was up to him to move the game along. <br><br></font></div>[/doHTML]

”Hook. Line. Sinker.”

Watching on as Aislinn’s emotions run the gamut of surprise, embarrassment, and maybe even a smidge of happiness, Jill can’t help but mentally crack a smile in her head in lieu of the more serious expression she is wearing on the outside. A good sign would be the fact that the older woman didn’t head for the hills at the notion. And her words did seem to work, leading Jill to believe that Aislinn could be a good match for her brother as well. After all, they both are a bit naïve. And in a win-win situation, even if this plan backfires, Aislinn seems to be cool enough where the black haired girl wouldn’t mind hanging out with her.

“Ah, don’t sell yourself short, Aislinn.” Jill reassures her, now letting her smile break through. “You’re certainly pretty enough. And nice. Who wouldn’t want to bid on you? Besides, at least this way you don’t have to worry about winding up with a creep or a psycho for the evening, right?”

Nodding her head as Aislinn tells her that she won’t say anything about the whole bidding thing, Jill visualizes jumping in the air and doing a triumphant fist pump. The girl has to do something to pacify her need to do it in reality after all. That might be just a touch suspicious otherwise. And hey, she still wants to see Will too! Man, this couldn’t be going any better. Seeing the group of people congregating in front of them, the girl figures that it might just be easier to have Will come to them. After all, he does have a couple more inches height on him than Aislinn or herself. Clearing her throat, Jill prepares herself.

“Hey Will! Over here!”

Watching on as the black haired man hears her and starts making his way in their direction, Jill shrugs off the few people that are staring at her. You’d think that they’ve never heard somebody raise their voice before… Nonetheless, a couple of moments later, Will makes his way through the crowd, the slight look of annoyance on his face disappearing as he notices just who is standing in front of Jill.

“Oh! Hiya, Aislinn! I hope that you’ve been doing well. And I see that you met Jill already. Speaking of which…”

Eyes widening as she watches Will fumble with the flower in his hands, Jill quickly thinks of how to keep her little stretchings of the truth intact for the time being. Seeing as how she is out of Aislinn’s line of sight right now, the black haired girl opts for the not so subtle option of shaking her head back and forth before pointing to the woman in front of her and nodding her head and smiling, pointing to her ponytail with her free hand. Hopefully he gets the idea…

Watching as his sister shakes her head before nodding and pointing to Aislinn, Will isn’t exactly too sure what to make of it. Doesn’t seem like a really appropriate time to play charades, anyways. The pieces fall in place as the girl points to her ponytail. Huh…it seems that she doesn’t want her flower for her hair anymore, at least that’s Will’s best guess. Not particularly enjoying the prospect of standing there with a flower for the rest of the evening, the musician opts to hand it off to the woman in front of him.

“…care for a flower?” Will finishes, relieved that the pause in his words wasn’t too terribly brief. The fact that he hadn’t scared Aislinn away by talking about Jill was good enough, but the man isn’t too sure how she would react to turning around and watching her waving her arms about and bobbing her head about like a lunatic. Conversation would probably be the best way to go about that, at least in the man’s mind.

“So then, I can’t help but notice the nametag…you didn’t happen to put yourself up on the block, did ya?”

At Jill's mention of the possibility of the woman ending up with a creeper or a psycho, Aislinn laughed. "I suppose you do have a point there." she noted, smiling at the other girl. She had been right to have waited to meet Will's sister before taking his word on his sibling. The girls were already getting along...somewhat. But perhaps it was the situation..Either way, Aislinn liked Jill already. The girl was outgoing and had a sense of humor.

When Aislinn had confessed that she still wanted to see Will, she thought nothing more than just wanting to greet her newfound friend, truly. But perhaps his sister had taken it the wrong way? Well, she supposed it didn't do much harm to let the girl think how she wanted. Then she called out to Will over the crowd suddenly, causing Aislinn to blink in surprise and blushing slightly as some people stared at their table. She had been more than willing to get up from her seat to go over to where Will was...

She let out a soft sigh and just chuckled; better to laugh things off than make a big deal out of it. Eventually the people stopped staring and turned back to their conversations. Aislinn watched as Will made their way over, apparently annoyed at his sister's method of calling him over.

When he finally noticed her, she gave him a big smile and returned his greeting. "Hi Will. And I've been well, thank you." Then as he handed her the flower in his hand, she blushed again. So maybe his sister was right? No.. it couldn't have been possible... really... Aislinn honestly bet it on chance. After all, how could he have known that she would be there or would even come to the auction? "Oh..thank you." she finally said as she took the flower from him, still somewhat blushing, mostly because of what Jill had told her earlier.

Then Will mentioned her nametag and she blushed again. She chuckled somewhat nervously. "Well.. yes, actually. I figured... it would be a good way to um... meet new people." she told him. That had been her main reason but she still wasn't quite sure why she'd signed herself up. Aislinn had done it mostly on a whim and had only come up with the reason after she'd already written her name down... but Will didn't need to know that.

After a moment, Aislinn took in Will's outfit and smiled. "Well, enough about me; you definitely look very nice today." she commented, eyes scanning his attire once more. At least now she didn't feel like she was overdressed. In fact, there were other people who were dressed even more formal than she did. And then some... not so much.

”Well.. Yes, actually. I figured… it would be a good way to um… meet new people.”

Nodding his head in understanding, Will can’t help but blush himself as he notes Aislinn’s face being a redder-than-natural. Must be contagious or something, the musician notes. Although he’s not too sure what in the world Jill finds so funny about it as he sees her still behind Aislinn quietly giggling away. Maybe it’s the impulse that Aislinn showed? After all, she did say she was a waitress at the café. One would think that would be just as good of a way to meet people. Ah well, Aislinn does seem to be rather level headed. She knows what she’s doing.

”Well, enough about me; you definitely look very nice today.”

The woman’s comment on his appearance only serves to make Will blush even deeper. Granted, he can’t say that he really enjoys dressing up in particular, but every once in a while is fine with him. The man does find himself glaring at his sister soon after Aislinn’s compliment though, as he notices her making kissy faces at him. Sheesh, when did it become a crime to receive a compliment?

“Ah, this? Well, I decided that I wanted to make a good impression with anybody that I might meet, even though I’m not bidding nor am I on the block. At least I don’t think I am…” Will trails off, glancing at Jill again. “…right?”

“Of course not, Will!” Jill honestly replies. “I wouldn’t set you up like that! As your sister, it’s my duty to make sure you’re happy…and you whined so much about not wanting to be put up on the block that I knew better. Besides…I can think up funner ways to pester you.”

“Thanks…I think?” Will offers up before turning back to Aislinn. “You wouldn’t happen to want a little sister to pester you, would ya? She’s got low mileage, is nice most of the time, give her an orange or two and she’ll be your friend for life…ooh!”

Watching as her brother doubles over thanks to her elbow ‘accidentally’ finding it’s way into his stomach, Jill glares at Will before turning her attention back to Aislinn. Not wanting to cause any more of a scene or scare the older girl away, Jill figures that she may as well apologize. Well, to Aislinn, at least.

“Hehe…sorry about that, Aislinn!” Jill begins as she helps Will stand up and get some air in. “My elbow slipped and got him in the stomach it seems. Maybe I have a little more mileage on me than Will thinks and I simply broke down?” The girl smiles sweetly at Will, earning an exasperated look in response.

Now able to breathe a little better, Will has to admit that he had that coming. Note to self; Describing Jill as an automobile or a pet isn’t a good idea. Well, best to put that in the past…

“Anywho, like I was saying before that little mishap, I’m hoping to make a good impression with people.” Will replies, relieved that he isn’t going to be getting an elbow in the gut for his troubles this time around. “I was worried that I looked like a bit of a dork, but I’m glad that you like it. I gotta say that you’re looking pretty good yourself today. The color blue definitely suits you.” Pausing briefly as he fidgets with his tie again, Will finds himself chuckling nervously due to how bad it must look for him to do such a thing in public. “Be happy that you never have to wear these things. They definitely aren’t the most comfortable things in the world.”

Luckily for Aislinn, Will at least took her excuse for why she'd signed herself up for the auction. Maybe she'd confess that she had done it at a whim to him someday... in the far future.

Aislinn watched as her friend blushed at her compliment and then a different expression as his eyes tell her that he's looking at his sister. Before she can turn her head around to see what his sister was doing to make him give her that face, he told her that he'd dressed to impress. She chuckled softly there. That had been her same mentality, although she had put herself 'on the block' as the siblings put it. At Jill's reply to her brother's question, Aislinn blushed, only because she knew what the other girl was planning. She only hoped that her expressions wouldn't give anything away.

A light laugh escaped Aislinn's lips as she watched the small scene in front of her of fighting siblings. Though she does throw an apologetic glance at Will at his position, wondering if he'd be ok... that had looked painful. Well, at least she knew that Jill was somewhat... violent. Or aggressive. Or something. Aislinn was pretty sure that she was only like that with her brother, however, which was a relief. It wouldn't do to just do that randomly to strangers... Another laugh at Jill's comment.

"That arm of yours was probably a little loose. Need an oil change?" she asked, chuckling softly. Maybe that was a little cheesy? Ah well. Something was wrong with her today.... the words were coming out of her mouth before she had time to process them and she honestly wondered why.

It finally looked to her that Will had finally recovered when he spoke again, much to her relief. "A dork?" she echoed, shaking her head at that. His appearance was far from looking like a dork, at least, in Aislinn's opinion. Then she, too, received a comment in return and she blushed. "Thank you..." she murmured, fidgeting with her dress somewhat although there was nothing to fix. One of the reasons she'd picked it was because blue was her favorite color. All shades of blue, actually but light blue was her absolute favorite.

Another chuckle as he fidgeted with his tie and comment on how uncomfortable it was. "Well, I'll just leave the task of wearing them to you, then, hm?" She grinned and added, "You don't have to wear it you know... You'd probably look just as well without one."

To be frank... Gabriel was a little bored.

No one in particular snagged his attention, no one cried out to him or antyhing of that sort. This, of course, was none too pleasing. Impatiently cracking his knuckles, the man decided to take a spot against the wall for now. Walking around and around in circles was ridiculous, and there were only so many things he could pretend to be looking at. Sighing quietly, the man reached up and began to idly adjust his hair, moving a strand here and there to his liking. The thought of leaving wandered into his head as he stood there, but the blonde dismissed it. He had to at least perhaps try to be bid on. The only problem, it seemed, would be trying to figure out just what on earth he was to do until... well, whatever started.

... Eat? No, he wasn't hungry, not now anyway. Talk to people? Gabriel supposed that he was being picky - he didn't necessarily have to speak to someone who caught his eye. Anyone would do. Glancing around again, he saw that there were a few more people walking about now. Some had already grouped together, some were still on their own. It appeared there were lots to choose from so the only questions were: which fish was he going for and which bait did he need to use?

Before he could answer these things, though, it appeared as though a fish was already interested in biting. Inwardly, Gabriel smiled. The woman had given him a subtle hint from a short distance away. A simple smile and a look she appeared to be leaving the rest to him. He saw this right away and also decided to go for it. After all, why not? There was really no reason not to, but there was reason to wait, at least for a moment. Getting up off the wall right away was foolish - overeagerness could easily put him at a disadvantage. From what he knew, some women didn't mind it - but the majority of people he had met certainly did not favour desperation. He had to wait at least a little bit.

And so Gabriel took his time. After meeting her gaze his brown eyes swept away to study some other attendees. He let his eyes briefly follow another female who passed by before looking over at the woman again. Settling against the wall with his arms crossed, his gaze lingered on her for a second before he turned his head away, seeming to look at something else. From what he saw, she was a decent looking woman. Lovely hair and a nice face bundled up in an elegant - if not slightly revealing - dress. Once a minute or perhaps two had passed, Gabriel glanced back at her from the corner of his eye. He kept her in his sights as a small grin crept over his face. Well, all right, he had enough.

He straightened up from the wall, his arms falling to his sides as he did. The blonde's gaze shifted to another person behind the woman, his gaze focusing on them instead as he walked her way. He did take his time though, stopping to admire a thing or two as he went. When Gabriel got to the woman he passed by her front, as if blind to her presence. But in one smooth motion, he made a quick turn on his heel just as he stepped past, ending up right behind her. Leaning over her shoulder, he turned his face towards her, smiling. Abandoning his original, standard greeting of 'good evening', he instead simply said: "Boo."

Rena;; tag: open.Posted Image<br<br>

Rena stood precariously on the edge of what seemed like one of the worst ideas put to practice ever. A dating auction? Really? Were people to stand up whilst the mayor of the village took numbers for the candidates? How degrading! More degrading than any high school dance had possibly ever been! And yet, to some extent, Rena had to wonder why the popular chicks at school hadn't already tried to do something like this before...? Possibly, they all already had boyfriends to mess around with...so...,<br>
Whatever....the real question remained:<br>
Why had she signed up for this in the first place?
<br><br><br>
Rena Landon, 20-some years old, was quite comfortable loitering around, under the shade of a summery-straw hat. The brim of the hat was wide enough that she had no need fo sunglasses nor sunscreen. She wore a pair of buttoned shorts, tan-leather moccasins, a modestly cut white tank top, and a light purple over jacket. The jacket was hand knit, but not by her, she'd picked it up for cheap at a thrift shop a few months before. She had a necklace on, which rested neatly under her collar bone, the charm on it was a crystal grape. She'd picked the outfit out that day with extra care, despite skepticism for the day's planned activities...her own curiosities were becoming too much for her.

But it wasn't her fault she wanted a boyfriend.<br>It was mother nature's fault...right?<br>

She looked relatively cute that day, without much effort. However she felt almost, shy. Which for her was on the unusual side.
<br>She scanned the crowd, looking for familiar faces, but no one in particular popped out at her.
<br>This village was bigger than it had been advertised to be.
