Summer 10, 07 9:20PM The cool summer night's air was enough to tease anyone out of their homes. In this particular case, out of their room, since Aislinn was staying at the inn and she didn't quite want to call that place her home. It was temporary... then she'd move into one of the apartments until she had enough money to get a decent house. However long that would take her... But Aislinn was optimistic. After all, Summer was already almost halfway over. The weather was still the same, hot and humid during the day but luckily, not unbearable. The evenings were much more to her tastes and so she often out and about, not wanting to retire to her inn room too early. Even after the long day of work couldn't keep her from a daily hike to some place or another. Tonight, it happened to be the Glade. She had wandered out of the village, having carefully clothed herself with long pants to keep the bugs from biting her and a light top. She'd even made herself a little snack to bring along with her just in case she got hungry during her little adventure. With her pack in tow, Aislinn had come upon the Glade, eyes wide at the sight before her. Though Summer days tended to be long, the sun had already set a few hours before. However, the Glade was as bright as day. The glow from a distance could have fooled anyone and passersby wouldn't even take a second look at it. Curious, however, Aislinn had gotten closer to find fireflies and flowers that glowed with a unique light of their own. Aislinn took a deep breath, taking in the rich floral scents of the glade. It was pleasant. Not strong, despite the amount of flowers there were in the area. She smiled to herself, eyes darting around the scenery. If only she'd had a camera... but no, this place seemed to be too beautiful to simply capture in a picture. The young woman would just have to visit it every single time she wanted to see it. Though she couldn't doubt the fact that the glade was probably just as breathtakingly beautiful during the day, she highly doubted that anything could compare to this evening view. The fireflies hung about, their glow adding to the luminous flowers below. The seemed to be playing a game of 'who can glow brighter'. Aislinn chuckled. She felt silly for thinking that. Scanning the area for a place to sit, Aislinn spotted a small rock that she could sit comfortably on and have her snack. The flowers seemed too fragile to sit on and she didn't want to the glade an injustice by smashing them... even though plenty of people probably walked through here. Avoiding stepping on too many flowers, she made her way to the rock and took a seat. Eyes sparkled at the beauty of the scene before her and she felt like she could sit here forever just gazing at it. She wondered how often this glade was visited during the evening.. alas, she didn't really care. She was the only person here and sometimes solitude was nice; it allowed for thinking. But who was to say how long she would be alone? It seemed to good to be true. |

On a regular day, Joseph Ryall probably wouldn't be someone you'd find wandering around any later than nine o'clock, as the man tended to either retire early or settle down somewhere for the evening. But this night was different; he'd slept in a little later than usual, and found himself strangely alert as the night wore on. It was still fairly early, and he was beginning to know his way around the island pretty well, so he'd decided to venture a little farther. He wasn't feeling particularly lively, just awake. Nature seemed more than inviting, the cool breeze kissing his bare forearms. His sleeves were pushed up to his elbows, and he was wearing jeans, a proper outfit for a summer evening. Joey was a bit unsure of where he was headed, but he didn't really mind. He made his way through the trees, following the path previous hikers had dug into the earth. He was humming very softly, taking in the scenery, when he spotted glowing in the distance, a very odd kind of light emanating from a specific spot. As soon as he'd seen it, it seemed to disappear, but he pursued it, curious as always. As he got closer the glowing came back into view, and he reached it quickly. Absorbed in the light, he barely took note of his surroundings, viewing first the brilliant flowers and fireflies. "Wow," he mumbled, scientific mind buzzing. He wanted to know what kind of flowers they were, and made a note to check the library for a book that might mention them. After a moment he looked up to see a woman, sitting on a rock not too far off; quite close, infact. He probably should have seen her sooner. He stood up straight, chuckling a bit sheepishly. "Sorry miss, I didn't notice you there," he admitted, and continued, "To be honest you gave me a bit of a start. I didn't expect to find anyone here." And his eyes flickered back to the gathering of fireflies, still amazing to him. |

From the time she had arrived there until that moment, Aislinn had continued to sit on the rock, merely gazing at the scenery before her. It was just so peaceful and beautiful, undisturbed. She doubted that there were any places anywhere on the mainland that were like this, or could come near to achieving such a natural beauty. Her eyes danced with delight, taking in every little detail about this place. She'd have to share it with some of her friends, she decided. It was always nice to share things like this with people you knew, although remembering back to a few days before, she blushed slightly. It wasn't long before she heard rustling off to the side of the glade, almost exactly where she had first come upon the glade. A man made his appearance and Aislinn idly noted how she was almost always right that solitude in places like this were too good to be true. It wasn't like she minded, after all, she had just been thinking about how nice it would be to share the scenery with people... but with people she knew and this man was definitely a stranger. An amused expression shadowed her face as she watched the man take in the scene, just as amazed as she had been when she first saw it. She heard a soft exclamation from him and she wanted to giggle. At least it didn't take him very long to notice that he wasn't the only person that was there. When he did, she heard him chuckle. "Sorry miss, I didn't notice you there," he told her and she simply smiled as he continued. "To be honest you gave me a bit of a start. I didn't expect to find anyone here." Aislinn wasn't surprised. This glade was something that people had to take a moment to take in before noticing their surroundings. "It's alright." She told him, chuckling softly. "I'm sure most people wouldn't bother to come out into the woods this late in the evening." Her gaze, too, went back to the fireflies and the flowers. "But some might not know what they're missing." She chuckled again, still gazing at the fireflies. |
