Okay, first we'll just volley a few posts back and forth to get a feel for each other's posting styles. Then we'll begin tackling items!

Let's do math. Early Morning + Emerald Beach + Erikk Polle = A Very Cold, Awkward Young Man.

Go out and make some friends, Rin had said. I'm tired of seeing your face around here everyday. Get out of the house. She was asking the impossible of Erikk. But of course, Erikk could not refuse the requests of his little sister. Should she ever catch on, that truth would become a disaster, and she would undoubtedly become the most spoiled child on the island from taking advantage of her brother's weakness. That wouldn't be so great.

Still -- how did she expect him to make friends? Erikk wasn't friendly. He had a bad attitude and even when he tried to be amicable, his social abilities fell off the train. Nobody wanted to be buds with a grumpy old man, even if he hardly was old.

His wandering self-pity had dragged him to the beach, where he could imagine that people would be on any given summer day. Of course, it was a ridiculous thought, considering the time and the day. Who would be seen at the beach at 8:45 on a Thursday morning? Well, Erikk.

Given the time of day, it was still cold, regardless of the season. Not to mention, it was cloudy. Grimacing, Erikk cursed that Rin kept him under her childlike spell. At least he was wearing a thin, white, hooded jacket, which he pulled closer to himself. If Summer was supposed to be warm, today was an exception. And he shouldn't have worn sandals with his jeans.
Shaa… shaa… The waves rolled over the sandy shores, leaving behind bits of seashells and kelp before retreating again into the sea. It was another early morning at Emerald Beach, and as usual Aspen was jogging laps around the beach. She wasn’t a big fan of waking up early, and up until a few weeks ago it had been really hard to drag herself here. But by now it had become a habit, and she was even starting to enjoy the peacefulness of arriving at the beach before the crowds took over.

She turned up the volume on her music player and began her third lap around the beach. With the sound of heavy metal now blasting in her ears, she picked up her pace to better synchronize with the insane guitar riffs and drum solos. Sis would have a heart attack if she found out that I still listen to this stuff, she thought with a smile. Aspen loved her older sister very dearly, but unfortunately music was the one thing that they could never seem to agree on.

A cold breeze happened to drift off the waves and touch her cheeks. Aspen shivered slightly, and zipped up her hoodie. She should’ve known better than to wear a hoodie and short shorts this early in the morning. Now she was warm up top, but freezing on the bottom. Ahh.. Bad move, Lundquist.

Making a mental note to be a little more thoughtful next time, Aspen began to jog away from the water, hopefully to find a place that wasn’t so breezy. She did a double-take when she spotted a man standing around, who didn’t seem like he was accustomed to being at the beach at this time. The sandals he wore with his jeans were a dead giveaway. Seeing him here was different from all the old grandparents, or the fishermen who usually came by to fish or hunt for clams.

Feeling a little curious, Aspen walked over slowly. She gave the guy some time to notice that she was approaching, so that she wouldn’t freak him out suddenly. She stopped just a few feet away. “H-hi,” she greeted him with a small wave.
