Pasha could tell everyone in the world that she hated festivals...but still would be seen attending one. But ths festival was not impressing her, for this was a FLOWER festival of all things. She did not get along with flowers at all and if she was mayor, she would try to get rid of all the flowers in this town. Ha! that is probably why she never ran for mayor or anything of the sort. She smiled. Just thnking about it in the first place made her want to laugh, but she was not about to embarass herself.

She stopped her walking when she reached the front of the festival. Seeing all the pretty lights made her smiled even more. 'This is why I attend them...' she thought as if answering a question that had been asked. The clicking of her sandals could be heard, as well as some of the other resident standing around talking. She stopped and curiously looked over at a flower stall, standing there for a minute she then frowned and continued walking. Pasha had over heard someones conversation about going to a water fountain, and Pasha thinking that would be a good idea decided to follow them.

She kept quiet as she stalked after the couple and soon spotted the fountain in all it's beauty. Not long after Pasha noticed a woman standing there looking at it as well. "Um...Hello."

"You're welcome," Kayla replied with a small smile after the woman had reclaimed her coin, after which she returned her hand to lay at her side. She watched curiously as the woman made her movements, pointing with her hand and arching an eyebrow. She had picked up something with the way the woman spoke, but wasn't quite 100% sure what it was, and didn't want to mess in anything that wasn't her business to begin with anyhow.

But, she did understand what the woman meant and was trying to get across by her actions. Smiling a little more, Kayla dipped her head twice in acknowledgment and quickly fell into step beside the woman as they ambled along towards the flower stall. Turning to the woman, she gently nudged the woman's shoulder and asked,

"Is this your first festival...? I ask, because I don't think I've seen you around before. Or, maybe I just need to pay more attention." Kayla ended in a slight chuckle, thinking that if this wasn't the woman's first festival here, she might think Kayla rather non-observant, 'specially if she had seen Kayla before somewhere. But Kayla really didn't remember ever having seen the red head before...unless her memory was failing her.

Hmm... let's see, what was she supposed to thank the Goddess for, exactly?

Xaria thought back to the pile of old records and scrolls her uncle kept, which she had been burying herself in for the past... uh. Actually, she wasn't even sure how long she'd been studying them. A while, though, that's all she knew. Probably because of her dedication, though, she was able to quickly snatch up her answer from the abyss of information floating around in her head. Quietly, under her breath, she mumbled, "For nature's bounty which you bestow so generously upon us, I thank you. For the life so free, for the beauty we see, I thank you." Er, something along those lines. Her uncle's exact words had been more archaic, more convoluted and long-winded - but this was the gist of it.

Opening her eyes, she allowed her hands to fall to her sides. The woman took in a deep breath, the medley of aromas drifting into her nose as she did. She quickly exhaled, coughing slightly, a little overwhelmed by the variety of scents. Shaking her head a little, she looked around. All right, now what? The woman frowned, rather unsure. There were some food and drinks, but she couldn't say she was particularly hungry or thirsty at the moment. Aside from that, she could... dance? Xaria's eyes fell upon some people doing so, but that didn't seem appealing, either. Who would she dance with, anyway? Moving on, she noticed people buying various flowers. Tilting her head slightly, she figured that would be a good place to go next. The temple could always use some sprucing up.

Suddenly, someone nearby spoke: "Um...Hello." The priestess turned her head, seeing a dark-haired, kimono-clad woman standing not too far away. For a moment, she found herself only able to blink. Ah... did... this person want something from her? Xaria put on a smile, but her uncertainty shone through. She supposed that this woman was starting up a conversation. Hopefully she needed some sort of information from her, otherwise things would probably get rather awkward, rather fast. For now, though, Xaria decided to start off with a simple, "Hello."

A pause. She looked back at the fountain, rather admiring how shiny they had gotten the statue. Then, deciding to hurry along whatever conversation this woman wanted to do, she turned to her again, smiling a little more strongly this time. "Lovely, isn't it...? Anyway, may I help you with something?"

Ulysses' Apparel - Trey's.

"Uncle, it's fine. Stop, please." Trey complained as the man known as 'his Uncle' stopped them just outside the gates to the estate, to stand in front of Trey and looked as if he were going to adjust Trey's suit for the, more than likely, umpteenth time, according to Trey anyway. Holding his hands up in a, 'I surrender' motion, Ulysses rose a brow and, smiling, asked,

"Well, I was actually just planning to ask you if I'm all in order, but..." Ulysses chuckled lightly, feeling nervous for some reason. And Trey could tell. Stepping up to his Uncle and pulling lightly at his lapels, Trey patted his chest and took a step back, also smiling.

"Sense you put it that way...yeah, it's fine. Come on, Uncle, let's get in before everyone leaves!" Trey proclaimed, and proceeded to grab his Uncle by the hand and lead Ulysses on inside. Apparently he was afraid of being late. Smiling a little wider, Ulysses hurried on to follow his nephew. Once they were inside the gates, Ulysses looked around for anyone he may know. He noticed Aspen pretty quickly, but also noticed that she seemed to be currently involved in conversation or sorts with another young lady, so he let them be for the moment. And, of course, Trey was leading him right on to the food table...

Kali's dress

Kalilie really wondered at the thoughts that had come across, that had brought her here today. ... Well. She had bought the dress a little while back, and supposed that's the real reason she had come today. Plus the association, the prospect of meeting new people. She had even brought Vinny's new stroller, one she had recently acquired from the mainland, in order to give her arms a bit of a break. Plus it was easier to eat that way, without having to worry about accidentally dropping her little tyke.

She paused at the gates, as a slight breeze with an intense flowery scent surrounded her. She closed her eyes and inhaled, a sketch of a smile appearing on her face. But then, she remembered her location, and, regaining her sense, moved along for fear of blocking the entry way. Off to the side, she paused again, memories consuming her of the times long ago now, it seemed, when she had attended events such as this one. The flowers, the food, the...dancing.

Kali's eyes glistened, her smile growing sad, as her thoughts replayed the last time she and her late husband had danced together, and it had been at an event such as this. Taking in a shaky breath, she glanced away. Oh, why had she come today?! ... It still hurt to think of him, but things were slowly getting better, or else, she was getting used to the pain. Either way, now wasn't the time, and there were far too many people here for her to take another trip down memory lane. Clamping down on those memories, she bent herself over her baby boy, to make sure he was still asleep, but also to afford herself a few more moments to regather herself and her thoughts.

She felt a nudge on her shoulder, and turned her head. The woman beside her was chuckling at something. Aspen smiled, knowing that she’d probably missed a joke somewhere along the way. “S-sorry, wha’?” she asked, hoping to be able to catch up on the conversation.

She peeked over the woman’s shoulder and spotted a familiar face, Ulysses. She did a double-take when he came in with a young boy, probably his nephew. Doubtful that Ulysses could see her from here, Aspen made a note to stop by later for a chat. She turned away and fixed her attention to the conversation at hand. She felt a little guilty for not being more observant. She was sure that the woman had said something to her, but all the words had gone clear over her head.

"Is this your first festival here?" Kayla asked, blinking. Perhaps the young lady had some sort of hearing problem? She would have to be sure to speak slowly and as carefully as she could...sometimes her deep southern accent made her slur her words, sometimes more than a bit, but she usually made every effort to keep that from happening. She never had liked being treated as a simple-minded country bumpkin.

Suddenly turning her attention to the flower stall before them, Kayla smiled and, waving a hand toward it, said, "Aren't they so pretty?" She asked, thinking of adding that they were going to try and grow some, and ask what the lady's plans towards the flowers were, but remained quiet for the moment, simply looking over the flowers. She wondered if the red-haired woman would want to buy any; but not that it was any of her concern anyway.

Aspen tucked her hair behind one ear, and leaned in to get a better glimpse at what the woman was saying. It might’ve appeared that Aspen was just trying to hear her better, but really it was just to keep her hair from flying into her face. “Y-yes..” she replied. Something was a little different about the way that the woman pronounced her words, especially when she drew out her vowels. It wasn’t like other people’s way of speaking. Could it be..? Aspen beamed when she realized the lady had an accent like her uncle! She was thinking that it was a Southern one, although she couldn't be positively sure.

To the question if the flowers were pretty, she agreed wholeheartedly with a swift nod. Spring just wasn’t the same without loads and loads of flowers. She inched forward to claim a spot in the line at the flower stall. When it was her turn, she picked up a packet of honeysuckle and another one of columbine. She loved the scent of honeysuckle, and having some columbines during winter would help make the chilly season less dreary. Satisfied with her choice, she paid for the seeds and stepped aside for the next person in line.

Tucking her purse under her arm, she tapped the woman on the shoulder and asked her, “S-sorry, I d-didn’t get y-our.. name?” Her fingers flew in the air as she began making hand signs. Please, please don’t run away, she hoped.

Michael's Attire
Ah the Flower Festival, nothing quite compared to the festival dedicated to life and the Goddess. They were a bit late, but Michael and his younger sister Elaina arrived in plenty of time to still enjoy the festivities. They'd decided to walk today, as both were wearing more formal attire and didn't want to ruin the garments from riding horseback.

Michael adjusted the tie he wore, he hated ties they always felt like they were choking him. He paused at the entrance to loosen it.

"Mike don't just stand there, you're blocking the entrance." Elaina scolded him. "Come on they might've sold out of seeds by now!" The teen was quite impatient and her tone was rather whiny.

"Go on if you want, you're sixteen, you don't need me to baby sit you." Elaina made a face at him but she didn't need to be told twice. As soon as Michael'd given her the go ahead, she was gone, brushing roughly past a young woman and her infant.

"Ela! Watch where you're going. And don't spend too much!" Michael hollered after her. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair before turning his focus to the woman and child. Elaina could be so careless.

"Are you alright miss? I'm very sorry about that." Seemed Michael was always apologizing for his teenage sibling.

Elaina's Attire
At last she was free of her brother's leash. He was right she was sixteen and didn't need a babysitter but most the time it sure felt like he was trying to keep her in his sights. For now she'd enjoy the freedom the festival granted.

Elaina twirled in place admiring her kimono. It was rare that she got to wear the elegant dress and she always felt like a princess in it. A princess without a prince. The thought saddened her a bit but she soon brightened as her gaze fell upon the flower stall.

Flowers! If there was one thing Elaina loved it was flowers. Of all colors, scents, shapes and sizes, if it had petals and a stem she loved it. What caught her eye the most was the beautiful Amaryllis. The summer flower would be perfect for the up coming season. While her brother didn't see flowers as having much value, Elaina was intent on purchasing these and growing them herself.

She waited impatiently in line, tapping her foot. After purchasing a package she turned to look about the rest of the festival. There was a variety of people here but no one she knew. Oh well isn't that what festivals were for? Meeting people?

Purchased 1 Amaryllis - 300g

Kayla found it a little odd when the woman suddenly started beaming, and for no apparent reason. Hm...maybe because of her mention of the flowers? Yeah, that sounded a little more logical. So, apparently she really liked flowers. Kayla waited next to her in line for a moment, and when it was her turn, she looked over the flowers again and decided to buy a pack of columbine seeds, just because she could. It would be nice to have some flowers growing on the farm in Winter, after all.

After stepping away and stowing the seeds, Kayla felt a tap on the shoulder and turned to see the redhead again. She started to smile a little at the question - ah yes, how could she forget to introduce herself? - when the young lady started to make hand signs in the air. Suddenly, realization dawned on Kayla, and her eyes widened. Her hands clasped firmly together as they came up to barely touch her mouth, but then she forced them down to rest in front of her, hands still clasped.

"Oh, you cannot hear me, can you?" Smiling in a nervous way, she shook her head, hoping the woman didn't find her too overly rude. Well...Kayla had read a lot of books in her time, and to be honest, just about every book in the little dinky-place of a library back home in Mississippi. Including a book or two on... Holding up her right hand, she held up her index finger and thumb just a few centimeters apart, and, squinting her eyes just a little, said,

"I know just...a little bit of sign language, actually. My name is..." And, with her right hand, she proceeded to spell out the name, 'K-a-y-l-a' a pause, followed by, 'T-a-n-n-e-r.' She also mouthed the letters, saying the name aloud when she had finished. With a nervous smile, she returned her attention to Aspen, and hoped she had done it right, or legible at least. It had been a while since she'd even tried to practice, and really, the letters were about all she knew.

Kalilie was still bent over the stroller containing Vinny, when she felt someone bump into her. She swayed to the side a little, but was able to keep her balance by taking a small step forward. She didn't usually have good balance to begin with, see, so she could be an easier one to knock off her feet. But with Vinny right there, well, she was much more determined to remain on her feet. She turned to watch a teenage girl walking away, and had just returned her gaze to her son when she heard someone else speak. Blinking, she turned the other way and saw a young man, perhaps around her age, in a nice over coat.

"Ah, yes, I'm fine; don't worry about it." Kayla told him with a light smile, and a small shake of her head. With that, she returned her gaze and attention to her son. Not that she was completely ignoring the man, no, Vin was asleep so she was hoping to leave it that way. But she was allowing the man to pass without anything more to be said, and continue on further into the festival grounds, if he so desired.

Outfit

Tugging at his collar, Fred slunk into the festival grounds. He vaguely remembered Jim saying something about the festival. Or maybe he had seen him with a new outfit? Hell, for all he knew he had seen it on a flyer somewhere. But there was a chance his Jimbo would be here, and that was enough to make Fred get a last minute tux from the rental and head on over. He's even slicked his hair back into a low ponytail, with a few loose hairs around his face. Tucking his hands in his pockets, he scanned the ground, his heart thumping a bit at the thought of seeing a certain someoneJIMthere.

And he was quite fortunate in his search, catching some quick movement out of the corner of his eye. Turning his head all the way towards it, he grinned; there was his Jimbo. His grin dropped very slightly, seeing that he was dancing with someone...but he had to chuckle as Jim lifted his partner up into the air, which seemed to startle the poor thing. Ignoring the pang of jealously in his chest, the one eyed man made his way along the edge of the crowd, keeping his eye on the couple. I'll just wait for him to finish...

Stepping onto the festival grounds, Rose nervously tugged on her shirt for the 100th time; she just couldn't get rid of all the wrinkles she believed to be there. Glancing around she saw a man with a large scar across one eye who seemed to be just as anxious as she was. Ah...a kindred spirit... If she had not been specifically there looking for someone, she might have stopped to chat with him; his scar looked like it had a terribly interesting story behind it. But today she was a woman on a mission, and she would not be side tracked!

Scanning the tables, where she figured her target would be, she finally spotted him; Clint Allen. Her heart fluttered as she laid her eyes upon him. Fluffing up her hair, then patting it down, and then fluffing it again, she made her way for him. Continuing to look around for a certain young girl, Rose wondered if she should find Irene first; perhaps they could conspire together to surprise Clint even more than she was sure he would be; poor dear looked like he needed a good cheering up.

Irene's eye had caught upon a lady in a nice blue top with a rose to the side of the neckline. Staring at the woman, Irene felt as though she should know who it was...and, shamefully, it took it a second for it to click in her mind. And when it did, she was suddenly beaming and leaping out of her chair, to hasitily make her way to Rose's side. She wasn't sure if Clint had noticed her depature, but in any case, he wasn't following her.

"Hiya, Rose!" Irene proclaimed, coming to a halt once she had reached the woman, smiling widely. "I like your outfit, nice belt, too." Irene said, grinning a bit. And very shiny, very nice. "I'm glad you made it." She said, clasping her hands behind her back, smiling innocently as she glanced over at Clint's table. He was sitting with Wyatt, but neither were speaking. Clint was either looking down or off the other way, probably wishing to go off and hide in the trees or something. Pity he couldn't really climb them.

Madison was walking around her new home when she came upon some kind of festival. "Wow." she mumbled. There were flowers everywhere. "Some kind of festival huh?" she mumbled. She continued to explore the festivities. She wondered what all of this was for. All of a sudden, Madison tripped over her big fat feet, allowing everything in her bag to come spilling out. "Damn shoulder bag! I told Jen I just wanted a simple back pack!" she yelled, picking it up and humming it into a random direction, not caring who it hit.

The embarrassment of busting into sign language in front of a perfect stranger, was enough to make her want to crawl into a hole and just hide there. She covered her face with her hands, daring to peek through her fingers only after her cheeks felt like they were no longer burning up. Was the woman still there? Aspen looked out from behind her fingertips and saw her smiling.

And then, the most miraculous thing happened. Aspen gazed in awe as the woman’s fingers spelled out the familiar letters.. Kayla Tanner. She was flabbergasted, to say the least. There were so many things she had been expecting, and this was the last thing she could have hoped for, but it happened. Aspen felt like her heart was singing with joy. For this moment, it was like a bridge had been built between her silent world, and the normal hearing world. Smiling radiantly, she clapped for Kayla’s flawless signing. Since the woman had made an effort, Aspen thought it was only fair if she also tried to make it easier to communicate.

“H-hi, K-ay-la. I’m..” Slowly, Aspen spelled out the letters ‘A-s-p-e-n,’ and nodded when she was finished.

As Irene bounded up to her, Rose stopped walking, smiling broadly at the young girl; it felt like she hadn't seen her in awhile! Chuckling with mirth at the girl's cheerfulness, she replied, "Hello to you as well, Irene. Your outfit is quite lovely too! I must say it makes you look like a beautiful young woman." Looking down at her own attire, she shrugged slightly. "Well, Mother keeps sending me things but I so rarely wear them...at least this finally found a use."

Glancing behind her young friend at Clint as well, she smiled mischievously. "Would you like to have a bit of fun, my dear? Perhaps we can get your big brother to smile some."

You mind meeting me at the table?" Releasing her hand, Jim gave her a light clasp on the shoulder before walking over to Fred.
