valentine's day `` 12PM[/align]

Fluorite Cafe has been completely reserved exclusively for the meeting and lunch of the Valentine's Day blind date event! Set up in an opened ended circle are eleven tables, all dressed up with Valentine's Day themed decorations and folded name cards have been placed by each seat, on the table, a name written on them in fancy handwriting.

Within the middle of this set up is a food and beverage buffet table, and plenty of Valentine's Day themed snacks as well, most of them heart-shaped. Come on in, and have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Ahhh damn...what the hell am I doing? Standing outside of the cafe, Fred stared inside at all of the red and pink decorations. He just couldn't seem to get his head on straight; he liked Jim...quite a bit in fact, and he was pretty sure Jim still liked him. But the thought of rushing into a relationship that might end up with his heart--or Jim's heart--in pieces unnerved him. Not until I'm sure...I can't do anything...except try to focus on other things. His eye drifted once again to the decorations, which seemed to taunt him. Like this stupid thing.

Pulling open the door, he skulked inside, glancing at the tables to find his name. He had actually dressed up pretty nice for the occasion; button up red shirt with black slacks, hair pulled off of his face and into a ponytail, and he'd even brought some white roses for his blind date. Gotta give her something for putting up with me...

Spotting his name, he stopped by the table, and then out of curiosity picked up the other name. Blinking he let out a laugh, smiling at the name he saw. "Well I'll be damned...might actually enjoy myself."

Nut was looking forward to this whole Valentine's Day, blind date thing. She had signed up on a whim and saw the whole thing as a chance to maybe meet someone new and otherwise have a little bit of casual fun on this holiday. She wasn't looking for love or anything like that and she hoped she wouldn't end up paired with someone who was searching for that. She was determined that that wouldn't happen and she would enjoy her day.

She dressed up a bit, in her favorite pink dress with its soft white lace trim. In the spirit of the holiday she added a little white brooch that declared in old fashioned writing, 'I'll trade this button for a kiss.' Satisfied with her attire she made her way jauntily along to the cafe.

When she arrived she looked around at the display of tables set up for the event and smiled. Everything looked really nice. She spotted a familiar face right off and headed across the room to say hi. “Fred. How is my favorite vicious cad? Who’s your date?” She plucked the name cards from the table without waiting for a reply and laughed. This little bit of fate just supported her theory that she would have a good time.

Brie walked into the cafe calmly, her head turned as she curiously looked to see who was around. Her hair had soft curls flowing while her bangs remained straight. She had a soft pink headband with a bow on it. Brie also wore a matching-colored dress, straps, and the skirt stopped at the knees. <br>
<br>
Brie's curls softly bounced on her shoulders as she looked around at the tables, What the heck am I doing here? Brie wondered what kind of person she got, after all she made no preferences and she wondered if the other made any either. And if so, what did he prefer? She had no intention of finding love, but of having some fun. She only signed herself up out of curiosity.<br>
<br>
Wes Nibai? Brie didn't recall meeting someone by that name before, but a soft smile came across her face. She sat down gently at her table as she watched more people coming in.

Upon hearing his name, Fred turned to see a certain woman he had met at the docks. Grin crookedly, he watched as she came up, and was glad to see that her reaction to being his date was the same as his. "I am very vicious and caddy, thank you for asking. And how about you? Gotta say you clean up nice." Tilting his head he grinned a bit more, before seeming to remember the boutique of roses in his hand. "Ah, also, for you my lady." Bowing , he held them out to Lyn; he wore a charming smile, and his eye glinted playfully.

Valentine’s Day; it was a day of love. Lovers all around were giving each other chocolates and flowers and other gifts to show their love for the other. Soleil sighed, somewhat depressed at such a thought and somewhat amused at them. She flicked her eyes ahead of her as she made her way to the Fluorite Café. Somehow, she had gotten herself signed up for a blind date.

As long as I do not somehow manage to get Lucus. Soleil thought. Lucus was her “fiancé” of sorts, according to him and her parents, but that was exactly why she ran away from her lovely home of Paris, France. Lucus had somehow found out where she was and gotten to Ocean of Stars, but has yet to come in contact with her; much to Soleil’s happiness.

Pushing the thoughts from her mind, Soleil entered the café, a small bell signally that she had arrived dinged from the door above. She welcomed the slight warmth of the café as outside was still somewhat chilly.

“Mm,” Soleil brushed at the invisible dust on her cream colored dress that reached about mid thigh. She checked her white tights one more time to make sure that there were no runs in them. Then, Soleil made sure her hair was straight and that her bangs were perfect before going to go find her name on the tables before her.

Her movements were slow. While she anticipated who she was paired with she was nervous; of course, her looks seemed to say otherwise, that she was perfectly fine with everything.

She noticed some people were already here and her green eyes ran over them like they were nothing. Her eyes scanned the cards on the table and she had yet to see her name. After a few seconds, on the other side of the room, Soleil found her name on the table. The other name was Florence Crosby. The name did not ring a bell at all.

Taking in a deep breath, Soleil sat down in one of the chairs and crossed her right leg over her left one. She rested her arms gently on the table, her blonde hair falling slightly over her shoulder—it had grown slightly in the last two seasons and she liked it.

“Now all I have to do is wait,” she muttered under her breath.

U-Urgh... Why... why on earth was he here?!

As the man walked into the cafe, the man's face was unchanged from its usual expression. His eyes were narrowed, as usual, and his lips were pulled into what seemed to be a slight scowl. However, beneath the cold-looking expression, he was sweating. Buckets... no; rivers. A steady, panicked mantra of ohmygodholyshitohmygod ran through his head, stuck on loop. Really, he was just losing it. Why on earth did he let his sister sign him up for something like this? He didn't want any romance, and it wasn't like anyone would want him either. It would just be really weird! How would he be able to say anything? He wouldn't know whoever he would be paired up with. And on top of that, what was he supposed to do? He hadn't gone on a date in a long time, he at least knew what the person looked like. Oh, whywhywhywhywhy?!

... Calmly, the man walked towards the circle of tables. Maybe, his sister had been joking. Still, though, he couldn't help but adjust his clothes. Gulping, he fidgeted with his tie. Another question: why on earth had he let his sister pick his clothes, too? He could dress himself better than this. Much better. Loosening the black tie slightly to a more casual degree, he unbuttoned his white shirt a little bit so it was open a bit below his collarbone. At least she had the sense not to tuck the shirt into his pants, or button up his sports coat. After a bit of fidgeting, he decided he was okay and, following his decision, came across his table. For a moment, Jacob simply stood next to it, looking down at his name card. His eyes examined his name, which was written fancy, flowing script. Huh. Frowning a little more, he reached out and turned the other card, reading the name: 'Chou Shikisai'.

A Japanese girl, by the sound of it. The man blinked a few times at his partner's name. Huh. His parents' teachings from long, long ago surfaced briefly. The Japanese are scum, they had told them, as their parents had probably told them, and so forth through the generations since the original conflicts between China and Japan. He let his parents' rantings float at the front of his mind for a little bit... and then suddenly his panic, which had subsided, came bursting back into him, like a drunk crashing a classy dinner party. Eyes wide, he pulled out the chair and sat down. Putting his elbows on the table, he held his head in between his hands and stared at his namecard, mortified.

He didn't actually hate Japanese people, no, that wasn't the problem. Those lessons had never stuck with him, but that was beside the point. Somehow, seeing the girl's name and processing the fact that it was an actual person - as odd as that sounded - gave him a huge slap in the face from his friend reality. Sure he knew what he was getting into when he walked in, but the full weight of this blind date hadn't really struck him until now. Faintly, he remembered how it had started as a joke. A light-hearted, "Oh, Jacob, you should go to the Valentine's dating thingy! Ahaha!" had turned into, "Oh you remember the Valentine's thing? Yeah, I signed you up". Then he was here, and freaking out, but still holding onto a glimmer of hope: maybe, just maybe, it was all a joke. And then here he was, with that hope crushed into a million pieces.

Wait. Okay. No, this was silly. The man straightened up, foldings his arms over his chest. He took a deep breath and when he exhaled, all panic slid off his face. This... was really happening, yes. But, perhaps... it wouldn't be so bad. It might even be interesting... or really uncomfortable. But either way, I won't know until I try...

... I guess.

Chou stood a few feet away from Fluorite Café, and snapped her hands together before her, offering a silent prayer to her mother and father. Please give me your blessings, she prayed. I’m very nervous! So, wish your daughter good luck!
<br><br>
Straightening up, she dropped her hands down to her side and proceeded to take in a deep breath. She almost choked on it a second later, however, when a tall and dark haired man quickly passed by her, and she was only given a glimpse of his face. For one horrifying moment, she thought it was Yasumi.
<br><br>
H-He’s too tall! She nearly burst out laughing, she felt so nervous. Instead, she let out a shaky sigh of relief, bending over for a few extra seconds to catch her breath again. It wasn’t really that she had anything against Yasumi, of course. More, that she felt if he were to show up, things wouldn’t go so well. Lately, he had been strange, and all morning long he’d been glaring at the back of her head so intensely she had practically ran out the front door in fear that her hair was going to catch on fire.
<br><br>
Saying as much, she couldn’t quite get her hair the way she had wanted it. It was the first time in a very, very long time she had actually put much thought and time into styling her hair. Curling it, and brushing down her bangs, she had tied it into two low pigtails, but she hadn’t been able to finish and now they looked ‘poofy’ more than anything else!
<br><br>
Feeling really self-conscious all of a sudden, she pulled at her pigtails and frowned, glancing around her to make sure no one was watching. She had the habit of doing stupid things out in the open and not paying attention, and the last thing she wanted was the people at this Valentine’s Day date thing thinking she was a weirdo.
<br><br>
Patting the sides of her cheeks to give them a healthy color, she finally took in one last deep breath and then marched her way up to the front door, pulling it open. Glancing around the room, she was immediately greeted with very nicely dressed young women and men. There was already a couple that had met up at their table, and then two women sitting at different tables, patiently waiting, as well as the black haired man who had passed her earlier.
<br><br>
Because of the small similarities she had found at first glance, she found her gaze straying off to focus on him. She was rather surprised to find that his facial expression could, very closely, resemble Yasumi’s. Though, it didn’t seem to be as fierce, and she was actually getting the feeling that he was somewhat nervous. Beyond that, she could easily pick out just how different they were, but after a few moments of staring, she quickly jerked her attention away and inwardly scolded herself for being rude.
<br><br>
Everyone was so nicely dressed, and she began to feel nervousness and self-doubt plague her again. Standing there, she wrung her hands together nervously, and bit her bottom lip as she briefly glanced down at her own attire. The only thing she could really afford was a cute little light-pink shirt and a pair of faded blue jeans that were rolled up just below her knees.
<br><br>
Glancing over toward the first table, closest to her, she immediately spotted the little white cards with the date’s names elegantly written on them, and her face flared red. She hadn’t even thought about having to come in here and walk around the tables, peeking over shoulders, or awkwardly greeting people as she tried to sneak a look at the card to see if it was her name!
<br><br>
She almost groaned in embarrassment, but pressed her lips closed tightly, and instead gripped her purse and began to walk forward, her eyes trailing over the cards one by one as she passed them. Tentatively, she offered the scary-looking man a hesitant smile as she was about to pass, but then completely tripped over herself when she realized the name on the card she had just read, opposite of him, was Chou Shikisai.
<br><br>
Reaching out, she grasped the very edge of the table to stop her fall, and swallowed hard. Feeling both stupid and mortified, she slowly inched backward until she bumped into the seat that had her name before it.
<br><br>
U-Um,” She stumbled, eyes wide as she stared across the table at him. “I-I’m Chou.
<br><br>
(( ooc: o_o; Sorry... got a little carried away. XD; ))

Valentine's day had once again snuck up on Silver. In past years it was just another day to him but he learned of the specail day after hearing about it around town. The day to show that 'specail someone you care. but he had no specail someone even though he was looking. Silver was definatly one of the nicer boys in the world but he'd never focuesed on finding her. So he'd signed up for the blind date. Silver stood outside the cafe and waited.

"Well no time like the presant!" thought Silver positivily.

Silver walked into the cafe and saw everything looking very festive. He saw several people had already shown up so he wasn't too early. He looked around and saw his table. His 'date' hadn't arrived yet so he figured it'd be rude to start eating with out her. Silver sat down and looked at the name. Rack Stato. He'd never heard that name before. it was exotic like his own. Now all that was left to do was play the waiting game.

This looks like a job for....
Mayor
Slipping in through the door, Wes could smell freshly baked goods and roses wafting through the air. Pink, white, and red decorations covered the cafe. A dozen tables surrounded one big, long one, which is where the sweets we placed. Eating sweets all day was something he was used to. Rainy days was his mother's excuse to bake all day, stuffing cookies and cakes down her son's throat.

But he wasn't here to bake with mothers, he was here to meet his blind date. The man wasn't sure what possessed him to sign up for the service, just that he could maybe get a chance to meet others form around the island. Maybe to meet a cute girl, perhaps?

Shuffling around the room, he spotted a table with a lone girl. Her brown hair just touched her shoulders, curling over them. Her shiny emerald eyes danced around the room, obviously searching for her date. It was then he noticed the name tag with his name on it. Feeling some guilt about being late, Wes quickly strode up to the table. "Um, hello" he greeted the girl, not sure what to say.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rack couldn't help but feel giddy about meeting a 'special someone'. The girl pushed her way through the door, making sure her briefcase and Sea's carrier wouldn't bump into anything. Sneaking around quickly, she peered at the tables, searching for her name. Her brown haired pigtails bounced on and off her shoulders, eyes moving swiftly. She didn't want to be late, nor getting in trouble for bringing an animal into the premise. Rack refused to leave her friend alone.

Sliding along the tables, Rack spotted a silver haired boy, sitting with her name tag.
Quickening her pace, Rack came up to the table. "Hi there, I'm Rack" she said, setting down her briefcase before offering her hand.

People say you've been talking, you got a big mouth. Saying words you know aren't true, what the hell are you talking about? So now we have a conundrum, and the problem is clearly you. This is the part where it gets ugly, and the solution getting rid of you. You'll never be safe in the shadows, I'll be waiting in the dark. With a shovel and a bag full of lime, and I'll say the devil made me do it.

<br><br>Aspen was secretly a fan of Valentine’s Day. The fact she had no ‘special someone’ to spend it with didn’t stop her from enjoying the holiday. Love was in the air! For some people, anyway. And she was happy for them. But what she loved most, her consolation prize for the couple-centered holiday, was that the shops were always stocked with loads of chocolates and flowers. She stopped by a shop to pick up a box of chocolate truffles; and remembering that she was signed up for the Valentine’s event, purchased an extra box to share with her blind date, too. It didn’t matter if she didn’t find love right away, she was just going to try to have a fun time.

<br><br>She had dressed up a little bit for the occasion, picking out a nice sundress to wear over a pair of jeans. Her dress was pale yellow, with a blue and peach floral pattern scattered at the bottom. She’d matched the outfit to a pair of white heels, and her red hair was worn loose, with soft curls at the ends.

<br><br>When she got to the Fluorite Café, she was surprised at how elegant and pretty everything was. Just yesterday she’d been here for work, and now the place looked so nice as a Valentine’s Day venue. When she saw the buffet table, she definitely knew she’d come to the perfect place. She was right on time, and there were already people mingling around. Maybe her date was around here somewhere? She admired the decorations and the well-dressed people for awhile, then walked around the tables to look for her seat. Her name was printed on one of the cards, and she eagerly picked up the other one across from it. Part of the fun was finding out who she was paired up with.

<br><br>Ulysses Sloane. It had a nice ring to it, though she didn’t recognize the name at all. Aspen looked around, and seeing that no one was headed her way, took a seat at the table. Looks like I’m the first one here. She put her box of chocolates on the table, and perched her white sunglasses on top.

Nut set her name card down and grinned when Fred made his reply and tacked on that little compliment at the end. She gave a little twirl to fully show off her outfit. "Well I was a bit nervous about ending up with someone who was sweet and romantic. But now that I know I've got myself a date with such a disreputable character I am completely reassured that I'm going to have a great time."

When he offered the roses she took them with glee. She loved flowers, though she wasn't too fond of the red ones, so the fact that these were white was just perfect. She gently stroked one of the silky petals with the tip of one finger, the feel of flower petals was what she really liked about them.

"Thank you!" She leaned in and gave Fred a hug. "You don't look too bad yourself." It suddenly occured to her that he had brought flowers and dressed up. She bit her lip and her eyes darkened with worry. "Oh.. I don't suppose you were hoping to get someone special were you?"

Purple hair, deep violet eyes, these were the first things she noticed about him. Ulysses was a little bit late to the event, from dropping off Trey to be looked after by a friend. He had chosen to do that because he wasn't sure Trey would have much enjoyment from an event such as this, and didn't want to horribly bore the poor child. However, realizing he was running late, he stopped off and bought a small bouquet of yellow roses. Today, he was wearing black slacks and a light blue shirt over an open dark colored jacket.

Pausing outside the door, he took a deep breath and slowly released it, then entered. It was quite a colorful sight which met his eyes, pink and red decorations everywhere. Heh, maybe if they still kept the decorations up for a little while even after the people had left, he might have to bring Trey just so he could see it and not feel as if he missed out. ... Then again, he just might consider it too girly.

Hm, he was distracting himself from the point. He needed to find the woman he'd been paired up with and apologize for being late. Looking around, he was surprised to find that there were still a few empty tables, or tables with one or the other of the couple missing. Slowly walking around, he kept the flowers to his side and down, slightly behind his back, as he smiled at various random people in his efforts to read the name cards sitting at empty spaces. At length (because he had intelligently started on the other side), he came across a pretty young woman with long, bright red hair and light green eyes, wearing a rather cute sundress over blue jeans. He smiled at her, then his eyes drifted to the name card before him, and low and behold - There sat his name! Smiling a little more and standing more fully to face the woman, Ulysses bowed to her, then presented her with the yellow roses.

"I am terribly sorry for being late; I hope you have not been waiting long?" Taking a very small step closer, he continued with, "Please accept these flowers as a furtherance of my apology, Miss..." He glanced at her name card, able to just barely read it from this angle. Turning back to her, he again smiled as he said, "Lundquist."

Wyatt had decided to walk to the cafe today, instead of taking Equinox. Partially because he feared he would get a girl who was deathly afraid of/viciously hated the animals, partially because he wanted to take as long as possible in getting here, perhaps thinking that just maybe, if he took long enough, the world would end before he got there. Or...something like that.
<br><br>
Stopping for a moment at the door, eyes down cast, he steeled himself, head up, and pushed his way through. ... To his eyes, it appeared a massacre of the color pink, followed by the color red and its various other relatives. He almost thought about hightailing it then and there, just wandering around the valley for a while before returning home...but his mother would surely catch on, he wasn't a very good lair. Sighing, he walked around until he found his name, and, noting the empty table, sat himself down for a little time of waiting. Perhaps, she wouldn't show. Be fine with him.
<br><br>
Taking off his white stetson, he put it over his crossed knee. Yes, he'd worn jeans, much to his mother's chagrin, but it was the best pair he had. To make up for it, he'd put on a nice, western-style shirt, dark green and black in color. He'd even put on a dab of Cologne. So that, just perhaps, he wouldn't be quite as repulsive to the poor woman he had gotten paired with. Strangely, he wasn't actually curious enough to look at the girl's name. However, that might change, depending on how long it took her to arrive. Oh -- and he also had brought a single red rose, perhaps to soften the woman up. (It had been more of his mother's/sister's idea...'cause he was just gonna pick a Pink-cat again, or something like that, but they said it should be something a little more than that for such an occasion.) But, watch - she would probably be allergic to roses..
