Madeline nodded in response to Preston’s comment. She considered her mother and father to have the sort of fairytale romance, and happily ever after, that she continuously sought for everyday of her life. In fact, it was because of them, and their love, that had brought the inspiration for such things to life within her. It hadn’t merely brought it to life, it had kindled it into a roaring flame of passion, just the same as her passion for painting.

More than anything in the world, she wanted to be able to find a man like her father, whom her mother was so lucky to meet. A man who matched her in every way, and found her to be special, and cherished her. She wanted to fall in love with someone knowing that they, too, were falling madly in love with her. Then, she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, and be able to experience first hand what it felt like to know that there was no other woman in the world he wanted but her. Like her mother had told her, so many times, whenever she turned serious and talked to her about her father and how much the two of them were in love.

“Your father sounds kind,” Blaze’s voice brought through her flowery thoughts, and Madeline blinked as she slowly focused her attention back on the woman she had thought hated her. A glance in her direction revealed the grudging look on her face, and the fact that she wasn’t too happy having to admit such a thing.

Still, she was happy for any compliment toward her family, and she smiled in return before saying, “Thank you.”

Madeline turned to Melody after she asked what kind of dog Hercules was, and confided; “An English Mastiff, full of wrinkles. Though, he is a very scary dog for those who do not know him due to his abnormally large size. Really, though, he’s just a big teddy bear and would never hurt anyone. And on top of it all,” she laughed, “he’s a big scardey cat!”
