Okay, it was time to get things together and accomplish what she obviously had to do. Ophelia took in a deep breath, and upon hearing the brunette's answer, exhaled rather forcefully. This wouldn't be so bad. Sure, she had to dance in front of quite a lot of people, with a man she didn't know and feared quite a bit no less! Still, as she had been voted goddess (which was still really baffling her, truthfully), she was supposed to follow through with the custom of providing the first dance. While she would have rather that dance been with Cole, it wouldn't kill her to dance with this man.

Hopefully...

She nodded to both Cole and the brunette before turning and smiling at them one last time. It was time, and she really didn't want to make Tenjukai wait anymore. After all, he seemed rather annoyed as it was. She gathered the skirt of her dress and made her way over to where the dark-haired man stood and smiled cheerfully up at him. Hopefully he wouldn't find her annoyingly happy, though she figured he already had started getting annoyed at things about her. Suddenly she felt insecure, shy, and she glanced down at the ground. "I um, guess we're supposed to dance now? Sorry about making you wait, I really... didn't have any idea about this." The blond laughed nervously for a second before smiling up at him, trying to will away her sudden burst of fear. "No one even told me I'd been voted for, or that there was voting at all."

Ophelia started walking towards him and, for a split second, Tenjukai felt himself tense. She looked sad; had he done that to her? Now that he actually looked at her expression, he also noted she seemed a bit ... afraid? For fuck... Tenj scoffed, figuring he should try and at least make this better. He had already disappointed Mary enough, why he was caring about a random stranger's emotions was beyond him but he was.

"I um, guess we're supposed to dance now? Sorry about making you wait, I really... didn't have any idea about this." At this, Ophelia laughed nervously. She then smiled up at him and Tenj simply looked at her. He resisted the urge to shake his head and, slowly, managed a small smile in return. "No one even told me I'd been voted for, or that there was voting at all."

Here is where Tenjukai let out a tiny scoff. "If you had no idea about this, don't apologize for being late. You didn't know so you didn't make me wait on purpose. I...should be the one saying sorry. So sorry." He said the last bit quickly, all the while resisting the urge to snap at Ophelia and call her an idiot. Motioning towards the Mayor that they were both prepared, the music they had chosen for the first dance [I'm assuming there's one? XD] began.

Gingerly taking one of Ophelia's hands and, resting his other hand on her shoulder, Tenjukai glanced over the blonde's shoulder momentarily. He saw Mary still standing alongside Cole and the other woman. She noticed him looking at her and waved while smiling slightly. He looked away and focused in solely on Ophelia. "Stop being so nervous, I'm not going to hurt you." He muttered.

  • Cole merely watched as Ophelia made her way over to the man voted King for the festival, and how her gaze instantly dropped to the ground once she stood before him. The distance made it impossible to hear what they were saying to one another, but he could see the uneasiness in her posture as well and could see the dark expression on Tenjukai’s face.

The Mayor’s little bobbing black top hat caught Cole’s attention for a brief moment, and he noted the surprised look on the older man’s face. Then the Mayor quickly proceeded over to the music box, which was playing the music, and jerked up the microphone.

“Ladies and Gentleman!” His voice spread throughout the glade. “Our Goddess and King have arrived!”

Tenjukai motioned toward the Mayor, and Thomas immediately switched the music to the dancing theme, where it picked up in tempo and eagerly awaited for the couple to follow. And the dancing ensued.

A bit surprised to see Try suddenly in front of her, she glanced at Ulyssus then smiling happily at the young boy in front of her; he needed no puppy dog eyes to pursuade her, but they did soften her up more. "Of course. We shall have to see how many cakes you can carry." Gently taking his hand, she headed towards the dessert table.

“Ladies and Gentleman! Our Goddess and King have arrived!”

Pausing, Rose glanced at the couple now dancing in the middle of the Glade; the woman was stunning, and the man was rather handsome, though he looked less than thrilled to be there. Glancing at Trey as they continued towards the desserts, she said, "I suppose this means everyone can dance."

Chou quickly complied and held out a glass of wine for the dark haired woman, just as she had previously done for Yasumi. With her own in her other hand, she took a small sip and wondered how soon it would be able to take effect and unwind her nerves a little.

Just then, a sudden announcement rang throughout the glade, saying that the Goddess and King have arrived. Promptly afterward, the nice soothing background music came to life, it’s tempo picking up and Chou found her gaze searching throughout the crowd for the two partners that were announced. It didn’t take her long to find them, of course, since there was a small clearing not too far away where they could clearly be seen dancing.

“Oh,” Chou responded with a small gasp, her eyes going wide. “Dancing!”

Yasumi remained silent by her side, lowering his glass down to his side now that it was empty.

"Ladies and Gentleman! Our Goddess and King have arrived!” At this, Jim's eyes widened and he poked his head out from under the table. A sigh of relief escaped him. Finally! Scurrying out from his hiding place, Jim cleared his throat while fixing his uniform. Now that he was actually not hiding anymore, he felt a bit silly for doing so in the first place. Oh well, it was too late now.

Shaking his head, he turned his attention over to Nyida. "Come on, let's dance." Grinning, he grabbed her hand and made his way over to the floor. Jim paused beside Fred and patted his shoulder. "See you on the floor, Fredinna." He teased and darted away with Nyida before Fred could hit him or something.

It seemed that the goddess wasn't entirely against her after all.

Upon arriving in front of Tenjukai, Ophelia had honestly expected the worst. It was obvious that he hadn't wanted to be there, hadn't wanted to dance, probably hadn't wanted to be voted for at all. His distaste for the festival entirely was easily readable on his face and through his expression. Truthfully she had fully braced herself for his harsh words, the snapping anger she knew was to come, but when it didn't she found herself pleasantly surprised. It was then that things seemed to look up. His words were nice, probably forced but nice, and she smiled genuinely up at him. Things wouldn't be so bad after all!

She was about to respond to his words, his smile, his niceness, though things started rolling and the mayor was announcing their arrival. She blinked for a second before feeling a warm palm against hers. They were supposed to dance then? The festival certainly wasn't about waiting around, then was it? She grasped Tenjukai's hand in return and briefly thought back to those years of ballroom dancing. He put his hand on her shoulder, therefore she was supposed to put her hand... on his waist! She raised her tiny hand and placed it exactly there, feeling quite awkward at the closeness she was sharing with this stranger.

And with that they began. Dancing had always been strange to her; it was simply mathematics. One, two, three, four, and repeat. She smiled brightly though her body was tense, and her feet doing all the work as she glanced up to hear Tenjukai speak again. She nodded sweetly, allowing her muscles to relax and finally she simply fell into the dance. After all, she had nothing to be afraid of now.

  • Phoebe smiled, hoping it came off as shy and modest. "You're too kind, really." She composed her features once more, hoping her new smile came off as congenial, or at least cordial. Nodding, she replied to the woman, the Rose Thomas, before chuckling. "I hope you're right. He's proved to be a worthy companion thus far."

She watched as the woman pulled out a seashell and gave it to Trey. Phoebe's smile faded slightly, and she felt almost guilty for not having brought the child anything. She clenched her purse strap tightly for a few seconds, knuckles turning white, before she released her grip. She breathed in slowly, the relaxing aroma of the hundreds of glowing flowers soothing her. She almost immediately felt slightly ridiculous and turned her head away, looking to the dance floor where couples were gathering at the announcement of the Goddess and King arriving.

She let out small puff of air, moving her bangs out of her eyes. This hair is proving to be more trouble than it's worth, she thought, slightly disgruntled. She glanced around the glade once more, eyes landing on a familiar figure. Her eyes widened slightly with horror; it was Yasumi. Oh no... She could only hope that he wouldn't recognize her in her classier clothes and quiet demeanor.

"See you on the floor, Fredinna" With a laugh, Fred made to playfully punch Jim, but he was already out on the floor with Nyida. A smile still lingering on his lips, he looked at Hazel. "Kids. Theeeey're funny. Especially Jimbo."

Sitting awkwardly for a minute, he turned towards her with a crooked smile, "I suppose this is the part where I ask you to dance."

Apparently Chimera was the only one who took gleeful amusement in the cotton-candy girl's crowd disturbing outburst. While others covered their ears or grimaced in her direction, she unexpectedly (and quite attractively) snorted a laugh, hand flying over her mouth as a latch-ditch effort to stifle any more hilariously gross noises.

Even though maintaining a Prim n' Proper appearence at this formal festival wasn't at the top of her priority list (clearly), somehow it seemed to call for some effort. A smidgeon of it. At the very least.

"La! I should have tried that," she finally said when she could breath again, still grinning madly and having to wipe giggle tears from the corners of her eyes. It struck her funny bone about as oddly as the Fake Introduction (courtesy of mister Bastard) had hit her drinking joint - but for a reason she kind of understood. It was like looking back four or five years to when she'd been that age, bouncing around in bright colours, shouting at the top of her lungs, not caring whose feathers got ruffled 'cause of it.

"Could have saved me a lot of trouble," Chimera mused on, ghost of a grin still remaining, though she had calmed down quite a few notches on the energy meter. Now all eyes were on the dancefloor, still and unsettled, as the King and Goddess were announced to be starting off the true festivities of the night.

It was fascinating. There was tension, uneasiness, restlessness - and then from it, amazingly, came grace and elegance. Warmth. She was completely absorbed in the sight for just a few minutes, until she faintly realized this was exactly the kind of thing that had set her off before. Unexpectedly at the time, but now she knew that older couple had come to symbolize something she consciously rejected, and subconsciously yearned for. It left for too much conflict of the brain. She was grateful, then, when Fred pulled her attentions away from that abhorred feeling, just after Jim and Nyida had taken off for the floor.

Her eyes lit up, and she grinned. "Oh, good call! My feet were starting to fall asleep anyway," With that invitation delivered and accepted, she took the liberty of leaping up, grabbing his hand, and smiling like a child offered a whole stash of candy.

"Yes, I would love to," she said with sweet sincerity, and then made off for the dance floor with her newest victim in tow.

Distractions were good. Wouldn't want to end up at the wine table again now would we, eh.

Turning around Nyida caught a glimpse of the gorgeous Queen, and handsome King dancing. For a moment she found herself memorized by their steps, how they seemed to just glide across the dance floor. Then again, she couldn't dance, so anyone could have amazed her...this setting, the way everything was set up really gave their background an advantage. The whole dance itself could have been a movie, and she would watch it. So beautiful. So "Hey!" Nyida squeaked.

Without seconds to spare she was pulled onto the dance floor, and without a warning to say the least. Her heart was racing, she wasn't ready for this! Her feet might stumble, she was going to mess up! There wasn't time to prepare, they were on the dance floor and she needed to get ready to move before she got hit by others who would begin to dance...Sasha taught you how. Remember. Remember. Don't freak now, Jim wouldn't like you stepping on his feet or bumping into him! Gulping, Nyida's eyes fell to Jim's and she gave a small nod, saying she was ready.

Ready to dance with her 'date'.

"I'm not letting you leave before I get your first dance on that floor. Date or not, I've claimed it, and willingly or not, you're agreeing to it. Understood, partner?" At this, Kent grinned and released Myrta's chin. He shrugged simply and stood up. "You want to dance? Well, in that case, I think I'll need another beer to prepare myself." He joked and, letting out a laugh, motioned to Myrta that he'd be back as he walked toward the drinks table.

Scooping up another beer can, Kent cracked it open and began downing the contents. "Ladies and Gentleman! Our Goddess and King have arrived!" Letting out a happy sigh as he lowered the, now empty, can and crushed it, Kent glanced over to the dance floor. Seemed some people were already shaking their things and what-not.

After, momentarily, checking out some of the older women's fine behinds, Kent made his way back toward the table and sat down. "Oh look, they're dancing." He pointed out, whether to tease Myrta or show his indifference towards the whole dance aspect of life wasn't certain. But Kent was grinning.

[align=center]Another beer, for the cop. He really is a very different type of Police Patrollman. Shaking her head with a laugh escaping her lips, she threw her feet up onto his chair. Her dress wouldn't show anything since the chair was perfect height with the chair she sat in. If they were on the table, that'd be a different story, and one she figured Kent wouldn't mind being able to share.

Watching him down the beer she sighed. Alcohol was the one thing she wasn't a fan of. Everyone had a flaw, and this was the one thing about the man she could barley stand to see. Beer, after beer. Beer in the Cafe. Beer at a dance, he probably goes home uses the bathrom while drinking a beer! The thought might have been a bit more amusing if she wasn't so against the thought of such a substance. Though it suited the man. There was no denying it. Knowing him, and looking at him without a beer can he might have seemed lost from home.

Ignoring the announcment of the dancing Myrta's head fell back, her eyes gazing up at the sky. The stars were so bright, like her heart for this night. The dance wasn't supposed to be centered around Kent. It just happened to be like that for her. She figured he'd grow tiresome of just one girl lingering on him all night, and eventually disappear into the crowd of lonely, or crying girls. Dances brought drama, and that brought crying faces. At least her highschool dances always did.

Is he worth being hurt Myrta? Biting her bottom lip she grunted loudly, removed her feet from his chair and allowed her head to fall back down as her eyes caught him heading back. "I think he is." Then dance with the fool. Her head fell in a nod, assuring herself she could do this. She may have wanted to, but she could already see the end of this man if things went sour with the 'Partners' and more.

Don't think like that tonight Myrt. "Abe. You're lacking your flirtatious skills once more. You're supposed to ask the girl to dance. Remember, you're the gentlemen at the moment." Forgetting all her previous thoughts a grin rode up to her lips, and she eyed the white haired man. "Are you sure you've been a flirt for as long as you say? Don't know if I can believe that." Eyes closing, she shook her head making a small 'clicking' type of noise with her mouth. "Just don't know."

With a laugh he was practically dragged out onto the dance floor. As they reached where everyone else was now gathering, Fred glanced about; there were more people here than he had realized. Shaking his head, he looked down at his dance partner. Smiling with surprising charm, he gently took her hand in his and placed his hand on her waist. "Hopefully this endeavor doesn't end with my face in a puddle."

~*~

"Oh look! the dancing has started!" Melody chirped, feeling herself get a bit excited; she didn't expect anyone to ask her, instead finding the graceful figures much more intriguing. 'When I get back to our room, I shall have to draw this! Especially the Goddess and her partner... Sighing dreamily, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Turning she saw her brother bowing in an exaggerated manner.
"May I have this dance, fair lady?" he glanced up from his bow and grinned. Grinning back she curtsied almost to the ground, "You may, kind sir!" Both of them laughing, they headed to the dance floor.

Blaze shook her head as they bounded off, amusement glittering in her pale eyes. "Such antics..."

Blaise exhaled in relief. Er, heaved in relief. The food was good. Good. That was good. The way the night was going so far, he wouldn't have been surprised if it turned out he'd substituted sugar with garlic or something.

He'd have been pretty devastated. Just not surprised. As, likely, no one who know him would be.

But he believed this young girl/child/woman, even though he had exchanged maybe like five (very incoherent) words with her. There was honesty in the eyes, or something like that, and now that his head wasn't spinning off on him like a wild top he could trust his own judgment. As much as a man like Blaise Chaffe's judgment could be trusted... haa.

"Th... thank you! I mean, I'm glad," By this point, even if he was sounding rather breathy still, he wasn't dying or anything. Which was kind of a step up. Kind of. Even though he still looked like he'd just booked it through a desert windstorm.

If the food was good, well, that was one thing that went right.

Now. The other thing. The thing he'd been delaying. Only having to take breaths that were slightly more distinct than usual now, Blaise swallowed, lifted his eyes, and looked around. There were few people around the table now - most had left for the dancefloor. None matching the description he'd been given through the brief letters. His heart sank, guilt set in. That poor box on the table sighed in woe and mourning.

Well, no one's fault but his own.

"Um, I'm very sorry to bother you, miss..." The knot in his throat made it difficult to really talk at all when he'd rather go find a chair to sulk in, but somehow he needed to know just how badly he'd screwed up. How narrowly he'd missed his date, who he was sure would be cursing his unworthy name to the Goddess even now.

"But was there a girl here recently, or ah, even a while ago, with - " He thought back to the letters he'd received, with short little descriptors given to help him find her in the massive crowd. Blaise had anticipated the thrill, the excitement, the exhiliration - but now sheer self pity and disappointment was all that set in. "A white dress, she would have been standing around here, with blond hair kind of..."

Exactly like yours?

Oh, and the dress too, please use your dress and hair as reference for this person I am looking for who just happens to describe herself exactly like you?

"Like..." But his voice died then, as some realization hit him smack in the face. Now, to count the seconds until he actually figured out what it was.
