Fred had to laugh at her response. If she said stuff like that more often maybe he could actually liker her. "That's good. Don't ever let a man give you crap; sometimes all we need is a good punch to the nose to set us straight." "Did you get conned into signing up for this too? The dating service," Glancing down at her, he smiled lightly. "Yeah actually. I really had no idea what it was until my friend told me. So...here I am in a new outfit, wondering who my date is." He shrugged. "But if she doesn't show I can still enjoy the scenery anyways." Looking at the drinks he remembered he had promised to bring drinks back to Jim and his date. Finding some root beer and a water pitcher, he then started looking for cups. "And how about you, Miss..." he glanced at her outfit, "...Pretty Lady in the Purple Dress, it looks nice on you by the way, how are you enjoying the evening?" |

"Abe, can I call you that?" Reaching out she pulled the glass in front of her, and began to twirl her finger around the rim of the glass. "You assume I'd want it easy? I love challenges. Girls are capable of many surprises. You'll see here soon, Abe." Grinning from ear to ear Myrta leaned forward as well, and reaching out with a finger she pressed it to his nose. "Partner." It was almost indescribable. The feeling of knowing Abel and her would more than likely end up as partners. Being side by side in duty, and being able to joke all day with each other. It would be a dream come true. In some odd comforting thought, Myrta knew life would never would have been just as fun tonight, if she'd never met the rude, flirtatious, lying police man. |

But he paid no attention to it and let those things slide. He understood what it was like to be teased because you were embarrassed thanks to Fredrick. Jim smiled. "Stars. Do you believe they hold wishes? Or is it some lost hope kids pretend to believe in for wasteful years of their life?"

At this, Jim let out a tiny bitter laugh while shaking his head. "I guess I've wasted a lot of years then, Nyida." Glancing down, he smirked. "Yeah, I believe that. I love stars." He said this softly, his gaze turning back to the sky. Finally realizing he should stop before he went into some kind of trance from thinking of his dream, Jim shook his head. He looked at Nyida again. "Anyway," He rested his cheek against a hand and glanced toward the tables, "Fred sure takes a long time to get 'drinks', doesn't he?" Jim smiled weakly as he watched Fredrick continue his convo with the woman.

[/dohtml] |

"Luckily this glass is just a little dirty. We should probably put it in a place where no one will use it." Thinking Lia sighed. "None of the main tables will work. SOmeone might use it. Discusting. How about at our table? No one will use it there." Upon approaching the tables Lia picked up a plate, and began to pile some random foods onto it. Mostly fruits, and snack foods like carrots and such. "Here." Picking up another plate she handed it to Liam. "If you're hungry make sure to eat now. Later we'll be too busy dance, right?" Glancing behind her she flushed a little again, and bumped him slightly with her elbow. Getting a new glass, she filled it with some punch. She didn't have a lot of unhealthy things, however it was going to be a long night and punch had sugar in it. SOmething she might one day learn to enjoy daily. For now, it was impossible. "Where should we sit?" Glancing around, Lia spotted Alana and smiled sweetly. "Why not with her? I've forgiven her actions. If she really doesn't want us, we'll find a table. I'd like to get to know your friend. The better side of her that is." |

"Pretty!" She gave a howl of laughter, "Well thank you! I think that's the first sincerely nice thing I've heard all night." Chimera smiled at him. When he wasn't all huffy and grumpy about spontaneous bag-searching and being chased down a road and all, he actually seemed like a decent guy. Which was great, because Men of Greatness were a lot easier to investigate when they weren't deadset on glaring you down. Watching him grab drinks, she decided she wanted something too -- preferably non-alcoholic, just in case those hormones decided to start a-kickin' again. Chimera grabbed a pitcher of something herself, and, meanwhile, introduced herself so he'd have something to call her other than that silly name. Flattering as it was. "Hazel," she said with a nod, tones of good humour already returning to her voice, "And pssh, I was on the brink of getting smashed on some probably expensive vintage wine. The night can only get better from here," Laughing, she poured herself a glass and set the pitcher down, bringing it to her lips for a taste test. Coke, she guessed. "Is yours going any better? Oh, and you look nice, too." Just had to throw that in for good measure. She took a sip, and smiled. |

Fred rolled his eye at her with a smile as he poured the drinks. "Well I just got here, but it's goin alright." Flipping his bangs he said, "And of course I look good. That's a given." Grinning he chuckled, "Thanks." Picking up the drinks he glanced back at Jim and Nyida, then back at Hazel. "Well Miss Hazel, would you care to join me and my friend and his date until my date comes? Unless yours is already here...?" He figured it would be better to keep her away from the alcohol. Besides, he didn't have any bags for her to ruffle through. Maybe she would be better company than last time. ~*~ Rose had managed to make it to the drink table without any incident. Looking around she noticed the wine; perfect. She wasn't usually one for drinking, but a glass of red wine did the body good. Passing by a tall man and a girl in a purple dress, she muttered, "Excuse me," and poured herself a glass. An hour. She'd stay for an hour, and if no one she knew showed up she'd leave. Nodding to herself she sipped the wine; perfect. |

Liam followed after Lia like a love sick puppy. Taking the plate he smiled. He wasnt watching as he piled things on his plate. Liam kept staring at Lia. Feeling like a total creep he tried stop looking at her and stared down at her plate. A smile crossed his face when Lia elbowed him. "Yes we will." Following her lead he got some punch. Liam was never really a fan of punch. It had never tasted good as a child and it didn't now. "Lets not sit by her. I want it to be just you and me all night"Liam said smiling. "I don't really like Punch. Do you?"Liam said trying to make conversation. Walking over to the table he set down his food and drink. Quickly he walked to pull out her chair. "Madam?" ~~~ Alana was fed up with this. Storming away she went to go find somone else to talk to. |

It had to be perfect, had to describe her personality well, and the final result was just what she'd wanted. You see, she had made the garment from scratch, using materials she had imported from the mainland and her sewing machine. It had taken numerous hours of progress, quite a few all nighters, and even a few days where she'd stayed home from work. While she wasn't exactly what kind of festival the goddess festival was, she didn't really care either. She hadn't read up much about it, but she knew that Cole had invited her to go along and that was all that mattered. He had informed her to dress formally, and that was more than enough to go on.

Fast forward to the day of the festival and you'd find she had the same attitude. As she patiently waited for her date to pick her up, however, she found that Odetta had something she was hiding. Something strange, something unnerving. The fact that her twin sister was not only excited but dancing around their very tiny shack was just not right. Even after asking the blond multiple times what was up, however, her sibling had not responded. All Ophelia knew was that something was going to happen at the festival. Truth be told, it made her nervous. Surprises from her sister wasn't something she enjoyed. Still she finished up preparing and when Cole arrived, went on her way.

Now, as they walked through the crowded area and into the festival, something in her mind kept telling her to be worried, be prepared. She found herself fidgeting with her hair, which she had left down. Despite how much she wanted enjoy herself, enjoy the time she had with Cole, that tiny little problem surfaced its ugly face in the back of her mind. Something was going to happen... just what. She glanced nervously over at her sister, who had tagged along for the walk over.

Odetta was smiling evily, not a good sign, as she stayed an appropriate ways back from the couple. She had come for two reasons, and two alone. The first was that a while back, she'd submitted her sisters name into the box for the goddess. The second was that she had a date - a date! - and they were supposed to meet here. While she wasn't entirely sure which excited her more, she didn't really care neither. So long as one went her way.

Ophelia glanced back at her sister once more who had wandered off somewhere before turning her attention to Cole, a wary smile pressing against her features. "She has something planned and... I'm afraid to know what it is." Ophelia closed in the space between herself and Cole, wrapping her arms around his arm. She shook away her paranoid thoughts before closing her eyes. She wanted to enjoy this day, this time, and she was certainly going to try!

[Odetta's clothes:
shoes
dress

Ophelia's clothes:
dress
hair
shoes

[/dohtml] |

Already, her spirits felt lifted. Significantly. All it took, usually, was some conversation - some genuine conversation, she added mentally, shooting a look in the direction the white-haired imposter had been just moments before. It gave her great comfort that he made no attempt to follow after her, and stayed pretty much where he was. A safe distance and a wise choice. Chimera might really have punched him in the face if he'd dared trying to talk to her after that minor, but shaking, humiliation. "Sure," She perked up, giving an enthusiastic and toothy grin, "That'd be great. And you can protect me from the bad guys 'til my date comes," She'd have to keep a positive outlook like he was if she wanted to get through the night without her head in a toiletbowl. Because there was always a chance Naoji Tanaka wouldn't show up, and so what? She'd been through worse. Easily. "Just know if your date shows up first, I will have no problem whatsoever being the annoying third wheel," She said with a laugh, and took another swig of sweet non-alcoholic beverage while she started walking back towards the tables. |

Lia nodded in an understanding way, and found them a table to sit at. Placing her plate down, she picked up a few grabes and threw them in her mouth. She was starving, and her stomach couldn't have agreed more that she needed to sit and take a moment to get a bite to eat. Swallowing her food, she looked up to Liam with a smile. "Punch never seemed to be my favorite, so that's why I'm not going to question why you got it if you don't like it." Picking up her glass, she brought the rim to her mouth and allowed the liquid to flow in, and down her throat. ----- Nyida gasped a hand flying to her mouth. "I didn't mean it like that Jim!" Great, now he thinks he's wasted years of his life. He's going to hate me for that question. "All I meant by it was that as a kid non of my star wishes came true. So I feel I wasted a lot of years hoping stars would grant me such wishes. Maybe they just steal them, and that's why they glow so perfectly in the night sky." Her eyes fell upwards, watching the sky's stars. "You know, I bet stars that never get wished on burn out of light. Or! What if our stars are wishes? Our wishes floating in the night sky." How interesting. She thought. Her mind getting wrapped up in the moment, nearly lost until Jim mentioned the drinks. At the mention of Fred and drinks, Nyida laughed and turned her gaze over to Fred. "I guess he does take quite a while to get drinks. Can't harm anything to socialize. He didn't promise he'd be right back, now did he?" |

Tenjukai sighed, leaning against a nearby tree. He watched as Mary, unsuccessfully, asked people walking by if they happened to be Ophelia Bano. So far, she had gotten a no every time. It was really annoying, if not amusing, to watch the scene unfolding before him. She'd been at this for about 10+ minutes - you'd think she would learn to give up by now. Persistent girl... Mary sighed in frustration. No luck so far, at all. None of these women had been Ophelia. How was Tenjukai supposed to enjoy himself if he couldn't dance with his date? Well, there was no way she'd give up now; Ophelia had to be here somewhere. Just then, she spotted a blonde woman in a very elaborate dress. Maybe that was her? Only one way to find out! Mary briskly walked over to the woman and smiled. "Hi there, I'm sorry to bug you, but uhm... Are you Ophelia Ban-- Cole?!" By this point, she had looked from the blonde to her partner and saw non other than Mr. MacFarland himself. It seemed he and this woman were an item, from how close they were. Mary smiled at the two; it was cute. "It's nice to see you again!" She blinked and then realized why she was even confronting the two. "Oh, right!" Mary glanced back to the woman. "Sorry, but are you Ophelia Bano? I was wondering because, well, someone's been looking for you." Smiling sheepishly, Mary looked over her shoulder at Tenj. |

A young boy appeared on the dirt path, apparently leading the man and woman, who were arm-in-arm, behind him. Trey had listened to his Uncle and hadn't wandered too far ahead, yet he was still a few steps ahead - but on seeing the lanterns that were lining the path, he stopped and stared at one. Trey's mouth was hanging slightly open in what could have been awe as he stared at the Chinese lanterns...they were pretty cool looking, and he had never seen anything like that before. Ulysses brought himself and his date to a stop right behind the boy, and from here, they could also see the glade, and how everything had been set up. The blue-green tables, the area for dancing, and of course...the food! There looked to be a table that was just for sweets, too, and he had a feeling that as soon as Trey noticed it, that was most likely where the boy would be headed. "And here we are," Ulysses spoke, smiling over at Miss Noemi. "And I believe there are plenty of sweets to be had, here." Ulysses said quietly, nodding to the table with desserts. Trey hadn't heard him, though, as he was still entranced by the lantern. [Ulysses' suit] | [Trey's suit] -------------- Kayla sighed lightly to herself, and deciding that she was hungry enough, she pushed off of the tree and approached one of the tables. Looking around as she walked, she still didn't see too many familiar faces. Making it to the table, she picked up a plate and began looking over what this particular table had to offer. A nice variety. She started picking up some fresh looking fruits to add to her plate. |

He had prepared himself for the attack from the, lack of a better word, crazy sibling, but he hadn’t been prepared for the way Ophelia had taken his breath away when she’d answered the door. Breathtaking, she was. He knew her to be beautiful, but he had never been given the chance to see her in such a dressed up state. Mayor Thomas’ voice had dimmed into the background, as the man continued to cheerfully chatter on about this and that, and the young blond haired woman focused on searching for the one person she had been anticipating all day. The two of them had exchanged casual letters, allowing one another to know what to look for, as well as where. Apparently, they were to meet up by the food table. Since she was early, however, there was no one at the food table!

Though she did spy a rather young couple sitting down at the tables. Her attention snagged there for a brief moment, watching as the young gentleman pulled out the chair for his date. Suddenly, her thoughts got carried away and she envisioned her Prince sweeping in on a beautiful Pegasus, dismounting, and then sweeping her up into an embrace. Or… perhaps that was a little too fast! Maybe he’d kiss her on the hand, instead, and bow like the perfect gentleman he was.

“Are you waiting for your date, Madeline?” Thomas’ voice broke through her daydream and she quickly turned back to him, her cheeks flaming red. The little fantasy thoughts that sometimes clouded her head and took her away to another world where perfect, everlasting, love was awaiting her, could only last so long. And they had lasted for about ten minutes, then the reality had struck. Madeline had spent the time monitoring the food tables, faking delight in all the different variety of foods, and sampling them, while she secretly wondered when, or even if, her date was going to show up! She had already been let down multiple times, her heart speeding up every time a young man approached the food tables, and even resembled a man with blond hair!

She let out a small huff, placing her hands on her thin hips and scanning the area for what seemed the hundredth time, looking desperately for any sign of the man who was supposed to be the perfect gentleman! The perfect, wonderful, dazzling, ON TIME, gentleman! She seriously wanted to stamp her foot in frustration, but she gritted down the impulse and instead started a slow count to 100. Oh, if she ever got her hands on him---!

Out of nowhere a young man suddenly dashed across the glade and nearly stampede his way up to the food table. For one awful, heart stopping moment, Madeline had thought it was her father. But once the dust cleared, and she was left staring at a man who was no where near the size of her father, she breathed a heavy sigh of blessed relief. How tragic that would have been! Why, she hadn’t even been able to enjoy her night yet!

Her attention was quickly caught by the young man once again, however, for she noticed that he was standing directly next to her, hunched over and wheezing for air. Curious, as well as concerned, she turned toward the young man, taking in note that he was hardly dressed for the occasion and actually still had what appeared to be an apron on. Perhaps, he was the cook for the event? She really didn’t know, but he seemed to be quite out of breath and holding up a box. A delivery?

“Are you all right?” Madeline finally submitted to ask, deciding she didn’t quite care what or who he was. She was lonely, and wanted someone to talk to.

[/dohtml] |

Fred laughed, following Hazel over to towards Jim and Nyida. "It will be my honor to be your personal bodyguard. And if my date does show up, you can be my buffer. Dates make me nervous." When the reached the table, Fred set the two drinks down. "Jimbo, Nyida, this is Hazel. She's going to sit with us until someone comes and steals one of us away." He noticed that the two seemed to be in conversation, and wondered if he should let them have time alone. 'Ah well, Jimbo will give me a sign if he wants that. Pulling out a chair for Hazel he grinned at Jim. ~*~ Looking up from her glass, Rose noticed Ulyssus come in. Smiling a bit she began to make her way toward him. But as the crowd parted a bit, she noticed the woman on his arm. Stopping, she felt a bit of disappointment built up in her stomach; now who was she going to talk to? Before she turned to head back to the outskirts of the festival, she noticed the young boy in front of the couple. "Oh..that must be his nephew," following the boy's gaze she saw that he was staring at the lanterns. She smiled; they really were lovely, and must be fascinating if he had never seen one before. |
