So she was done then? Mu felt a sense of relief wash over him. This did not last long though, as he soon began to wonder what to do next. At parties, mother talked and laughed with people so naturally. How did she do that? He pondered this for a while, desperately attempting to form some kind of socializing strategy. If he couldn’t come up with something, everything would have been a waste, and that was unacceptable. Ah! The questions! The young man had dreaded them, but now they appeared to be his only hope. What had she originally asked again…? He fidgeted nervously, then finally opened his mouth in a rare display of speech. “Um… Tell me about… you?” |

She truly hadn't mean to disturb the man before her beyond reasoning, though she had to admit that he was doing it right back to her. They were an odd pair honestly, the quiet and the loud, the pure and the dirty. Perhaps that was the reason why they were having such a hard time to be compatible.

Though, in the back of the blond woman's mind, she figured chemistry didn't matter. If there was any way to turn things around and possibly convince her date to not only come to her arms, but her home as well, she'd definitely try it. And when Mu finally decided to speak willfully and on his own accord, things appeared to look up. Odetta smiled, though she quickly lost that expression. What about her?

Well, she enjoyed sex of any shape, form, or kind, though she figured he wouldn't want to hear that. Did she have any other talents beside that? Maybe she should find another subject. Family! She could discuss family! "Well, I'm a twin...' she replied, dumbly. What a great conversation starter.

[/dohtml] |

So she had a twin. Erm. Now what? There was a pause as Mu tried to recollect the questions Odetta had asked him earlier. What kind of sports? No, that wouldn’t work. Asking “What kind of twin?” would sound a little awkward, and “Do you still play twins now?” wasn’t any better. “Oh,” he said. Then, “Um… I’m not.” It was all he was able to manage before falling silent once again. Maybe if he kept quiet, she’d say more. |

The conclusion hit her like a ton of bricks and she recoiled a bit, her face displaying an expression of shock before it fell completely blank. Had she done something wrong? She hadn't even tried to really seduce him yet!

The woman sighed and scratched the back of her blond head slowly. She wanted to keep their conversation going and, hopefully, continue with her plan but she was slowly starting to realize that it wasn't going to happen. Honestly she should have just clubbed him and dragged him home to start with, though the scene that would cause would most likely be very negative. Instead she returned his stare with one of her own, dark and questioning, as she tried to get to the bottom of things.

[/dohtml] |

She wasn’t responding to him. Had he done something wrong? Was there something else he was supposed to say? The young man was starting to worry. Ah, but worrying would achieve nothing. He had to do something, anything. A question! He’d ask another question! But what? “Your… um… twin,” he began, making up the question as he went along. What about her twin? What did he want to know? “You… um…” This was going nowhere. He should have come up with some sort of plan before coming to the festival. That would have been a sensible thing to do. “Do you look alike?” he finally blurted out in a manner unlike himself. The words seemed to have burst out of him from some unknown place within, and he stared Odetta down with a strange intensity. He had not lost yet! Determination filled him, and he silently vowed to make the night an enjoyable one. |

And she had never been too grand with small talk, either, so that was out of the question. All that was left was to wait on him, really.

So she waited. And she waited. And finally the green headed man spoke up, stumbling over a few words before stopping again. Odetta's mouth gaped open and she sat there, completely in awe at his lack of etiquette with words. Mu felt his cheeks burn as Odetta motioned toward her body. The dress. He’d forgotten about the dress. Now, suddenly, he had become very aware of it again. This was not making things any easier. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, then returned his intent gaze to the woman’s face. Questions. Questions led to conversation. Conversation led to relationship building. This was the art of socializing. An art he had never quite gotten the hang of. Oh, but he’d master it! He had to! It was the key to the happy life he wanted so much to achieve! There was another “Oh” followed by an awkward pause. He thought of telling her she looked nice, but he was far too shy to do so, and instead proceeded with another question. “Um… Do you… get along?” |

How could Mu forget about her prize winning dress? It was, after all, her crown and glory. She had been proudly showing it off all night, and Odetta had to admit that she'd nearly forgotten about it herself. After all, she hadn't been using it to its proper glory. The woman smirked, completely ignoring her past facade of being innocent and sweet, and decided that acting like her true self might get her farther.

So, in a great instant of brilliance, the woman leaned forward, crossed her legs, and folded her arms in her lap, smiling strangely at Mu. Why, she had simply waltzed into this date all wrong. If she had just been herself from the start, well, things might have went smoother. Ah, but it was too late now; she'd simply have to do damage control.

Odetta listened intently as he spoke again, first with an 'oh' and then with another question. She nodded eagerly, leaning her neck slightly back to laugh. With that momentary chuckle out of the way, though she leaned back down and locked her eyes with Mu again. "Oh yes, we get along great. But enough about me... what about you? Any siblings? And are they nearly as cute as you?"

[/dohtml] |

Mu blinked, suddenly confused. Somehow, Odetta had changed, but he wasn’t entirely sure how or what had happened. Was it her “powers” again? Whatever the case, it caused him to lose the little confidence he had gathered, and he sunk back into a timid, childlike state. “No… I don’t have any,” he mumbled, staring at his twiddling thumbs in yet another struggle not to ogle the scantily clad woman. She had called him cute again. His stomach flipped. What was happening? He didn’t understand. Was it good? Was it bad? What would mother say? “Marry a girl with a beautiful heart” was all he could remember in his confusion, but this helped little. What did that really mean anyway? |

Of course, she was really on the fence as to caring how he felt, but she was mostly leaning towards the side that said she didn't.

The blond awaited anxiously for his response, and what she got in return only fueled her desire to make him come out of his shell more. He was so awkward, so shy, and she just wanted to make him relax a little. And, oh, what was this? He was avoiding looking in her general direction now? This just would not do.

Odetta stretched her arms above her head and yawned, lengthening her body before returning to her previous position. It was a losing battle. As Odetta stretched, it felt as if her body were being thrown at him- And, in a way, it was. For a brief moment, he openly gaped at her, but then hastily shifted his gaze toward her face. Look at her face. With this “distraction” it took Mu a few seconds to realize he had been spoken to again. Actually, for a split second, he had forgotten he had even been with a person. During that brief instant, she had just been a body, and the young man felt slightly ashamed for this. However, he overcame this quickly. Dwelling would do nothing. “Not really…” he mumbled in reply. Now that he thought about it, he never had been lonely before. Not that he could remember anyway. His mother was always there… Ah, wait, could he be lonely now? He blinked, slightly startled by this realization. The thought had never really occurred to him, as he had never experienced the feeling in past. Perhaps… He was lonely without mother? The corners of his mouth twitched downward into a barely visible frown. Suddenly, he felt so… alone. |

Fred chuckled, glancing at Jim. "Well...worse comes to worse we can carry him out, ya?" Tonight was turning out to be fairly interesting. Scratching the back of his head, he wondered briefly how they were going to get Jim back to the Inn without his parents know he was drunk. Well, right now we don't need to worry about that. Glancing at Nydia he smiled lightly, "Do you want me to get you a drink or anything? And I promise I'll make sure there's no alcohol in it!" ~*~ Rose smiled at Trey as he started trying to catch the fireflies. Stepping forward she admired the small wooded area; it was easy to forget there was even a festival going on. She loved it. Stepping forward she glanced to the side, noticing movement in the bushes. Pressing her finger to lips, she moved slowly towards them, not wanting to scare off whatever was in the underbrush. |

Mu quickly shook his head, slightly distressed. He didn’t want Odetta to feel his change of mood was her fault. And yet… She was kind of cute, chewing her lip like that. A few seconds passed while he stared blankly at the performance of this action. “I’m fine,” he murmured, tearing his eyes from Odetta’s lips to look down and observe his folded hands. Well, mostly fine. He hadn’t gotten any letters from mother in a while, and she still hadn’t come to visit yet. Had he been forgotten? No, no! She’d never forget him! She must have been busy. He’d heard that the company was undergoing some changes, so that had to be the reason. |

Maybe that was the reason he was so shy?

And then it all seemed to come together. Odetta's mind pieced together her impression of Mu and, all of a sudden, she felt like backing off a little and letting him open up at his own pace.
