Since Jim was bringing his 'new' date to the dance floor, Nyida decided she would go find her drink and watch this 'Fredrinna' and Jim dance. A slight chuckle skimmed her lips at the thought, and she turned around seeing that Fred had Jim under control, and in good hands. The boy was probably one of the only who could have downed a whole glass of beer without noticing it wasn't rootbeer.

Shaking her head at the thought, she reached their table and picked her glass up bringing it to her lips. Wait... Her head fell back and she sniffed the 'water' to dsicover no funky smell. Allowing a bit of the substance to fall onto her tongue, Nyida agreed there was no mistake, and this was her original drink. Convinced, she drank her water, and placed herself back into her seat, once more removing her heels and placing them into the chair beside her.

These heels weren't going to be her best friend by the end of the night.

------------------

"Sorry, but I'm gonna go grab another beer." The woman's head fell with a nod, and she stepped back from Kent allowing him to leave from their dance, and the dance floor itself. So what if I didn't get to show him my moves? I got that dance I insisted on. Pleased with this, Myrta followed suit and left the dance floor, but not following Kent. She was no stalker, and the two later in the night could discuss when they would get together for Myrta's training. Anyways, she expected to see him on that dance floor with the next pretty girl he crossed. Date or not, if they stood alone they were fresh prey to the flirtatious cop.

Disappearing into the crowd she found while they danced more people had arrived, thickening the air and swarming tables. Luckily, she hadn't brought anything except herself and there was honestly no need for a table. "Bet he ditched." Myrta let a soft grin fall against her lips, her hands swaying beside her while she walked through the impossible crowd. This has got to be the most people I've seen in this tiny village since I arrived. Agreeing completely with her thoughts, her feet fell to a stop, and there was Nathaniel.

That was his name, right?

He was easy to spot out. Standing alone, and with her purple peice of paper she'd sent to him. She knew there was a reason she'd sent him her colored paper with little words on it for a reson. Luckily, it wasn't a waste and had come to her aid in the crowd she once thought impossible.

Clearing her dry throat Myrta raised her hand into the air, and called out over the people between them "Excuse me Nathaniel." Taking a moment or two longer to weave her way through people, she'd finally end up infront of him and smile warmly "I'm Myrta. It seems you received my paper." She said as her fingers reached out pointing to the purple colored paper. "Did it help any?" She might have introduced herself with her name to start off, but hadn't they already gotten one another's name thanks to the blind date setup?

Claude's Tuxedo

Claude arrived a bit later than he'd planned, but it was always better to be fashionably late than to be early or precisely on time. He'd gone out of his way to go and pick up his date for the festival and walk her to the dance. A true gentleman would accept no less from himself. It had been a slight surprise when he'd discovered that the woman he was to bring had been robbed of her eyesight earlier in life, but he wasn't going to treat her any differently than he did any other woman. Quite the opposite in fact, Claude respected Aerith a great deal for being able to live on her own successfully without the use of her eyes.

"I must say that I'm truly grateful to be able to spend my evening with a woman as beautiful at you." Claude said, "Though I'm not quite sure what to do now that we're here. I've never been to any sort of gathering like this before." He wasn't from anything even remotely close to high society, so grand dances like this were completely foreign to him. He'd counted himself lucky that he'd even had something to wear to the occasion. He'd just have to wing it and rely on her as a guide.

The young Spanish man slipped an arm through the crook of his date's elbow and smiled warmly. "Why don't you tell me what you want to do? It'll be more entertaining for the both of us that way. We can do whatever you want. We can dance, we could get something to drink and chat for a while. Although I feel it's only right to warn you that I'm far from the best dancer in the world."

Nathaniel's idea of "searching" was more like "standing around, waiting".

Truth was, he really didn't want to actively search for this Myrta girl. He figured that if he could skate by on the excuse that "he didn't find her", then all would be well. No disappointments, no headaches, no nothing. Sure, he wasted a hundred bucks or so on buying these damn roses on the mainland, but to him, the expenses were basically just dropped pennies. So, this was Nathaniel's plan. He doubted it would work - there were only so many people in this place and so much time in the night. Sooner or later, he would be found. (Never hurt to hope though, did it?)

Unfortunately for him, though, he was found much sooner than he thought.

His face contorted into a cringe when he heard an unfamiliar female voice call out his name: "Excuse me Nathaniel." He was so close yet so, so far. The dark haired man took in a deep breath and let it out in a heavy sigh. Well, might as well get this over with as soon as possible then. Wiping the grimace from his face, he replaced it with a soft, pleasant smile and turned around. Immediately, instinctively, he sized up the woman he was to call his date.

She was... passable. Far from hideous, but still a few very significant knotches below his ideal. Myrta was fairly short, and well... with basically all the features she had written on the paper. At least she doesn't look like a hippie, he thought, a small, crooked smile playing across his lips. The dress didn't look as awful as he had anticipated, though he still didn't like it much. But all in all, to be honest, she was a tiny bit better than he had pictured. For now, anyway. The words that came out of her mouth could change that in a second.

Now finished making judgements, Nathaniel focused in on the conversation. He gave a short laugh. "Well, seems it was more help for you than it was for me," he told her, his words stained with a touch of indifference. With that, he offered out the bouquet of roses to her. "Here, these are for you. Did you enjoy yourself whiel you were waiting for me?"

Min Hee’s brow raised as Cloud suddenly grasped her arm and pulled her onto the dance floor with little warning. Once her surprise at this unexpected movement had faded however, a satisfied and somewhat smug grin crossed her features. Ah, this was how it was supposed to be. She was beautiful. She was wonderful. Guys loved her. For a few days after she’d been exiled to this silly little island, something had gone terribly wrong with the world. Now things were normal again. It was like waking up from a bad dream.

When her dance partner smiled down at her, she returned the gesture with a beam of her own. Yes, yes, yes! It was all too perfect! She was bubbling and frothing over with excitement, completely enthralled by her new dating prospect. The last time she’d been this successful had been… Just before she’d come to Obsidian. So about a week ago? That boy had invited her to a party. Justin, right? No wait, that was Neil… Oh, whatever! It didn’t matter now that they were miles away.

“I hope you don’t mind, but I felt like dancing,” said Cloud as they began their awkward movements along the dance floor. “Not at all~ I love to dance! I like singing too! I’m going to be famous someday~” she chirped happily.

"Good luck on your dream". Cloud smiled at her and the dance became a trance. It seemed like only Min Hee and him were on the island. The music was soothing as he closed his eyes. Her voice was heavenly, yet with an obnoxious burst. Still, her peace and her serenity was nice, for a little while. Cloud opened his eyes to be awoken by the others. He chuckled to himself, while weaving through the crowd. He danced rather oddly, but so is everyone else. The villagers had nothing to say by his abrupt disturbance as he danced with Min Hee.

"Would you like to grab something to eat?". He stopped dancing and placed his hands by his side. Cloud put his hand through his hair and smiled shyly. His cheeks blushed with a soft red. He didn't know what to say next, it was sort of awkward. The 'blind date' part always caught him off-guard. Couldn't they just tell him who hes going with so he could be prepared? Even though, he is enjoying himself. He grabbed Min Hee's hand and looked into her eyes.

"I'm glad I was stuck with someone... Like you". That came out of nowhere. His voice cracked as his eyes widened. What was happening with him?

Her greeting kisses and her exclamation had been completely unrelated, oddly enough. She was really, genuinely shocked that this poor defenseless boy was her date. It was as if fate had brought them together, and she was quite thrilled at the realization. Of course this didn't change the events she'd already preplanned for the two since she'd laid eyes on the man, though if anything it worsened his chances. He had, after all, signed up for this date; it was just unfortunate for him that he had no idea what he'd be getting himself into.

Though, much to Odetta's disappointment, it didn't seem that he'd be getting himself into anything any time soon. At her two cheek smooches, the poor boy turned the brightest red Odetta had ever seen... ever. Why, he was the color of a very sunburned tomato. Suddenly guilt bit at the blond's ankles, and just as she started to feel a bit bad for possibly causing her date to have a heart attack, something worse happened.

Odetta stared down at Mu, suddenly very aware of his shy tendencies and the crowd of people around them. What would they think? A lot of people in the town knew her, knew what she was capable of, and would probably think she'd drugged him. And she hadn't! She hadn't even gotten him tipsy! A mini panic arose in the woman's chest as she kneeled in front of Mu, a frown on her face.

"Mu... Are you okay?"

[[ aerith's dress ]]

Aerith had to admit that she was just grateful to have a date that was willing to come pick her up and get her to the festival. Honestly, she had no idea as to how she would have found Claude if he hadn't helped her out. She must have been out of her mind when she signed up for this, honestly. A blind date with a blind person? That was a bit ridiculous. Maybe she'd just been hoping for something just as ridiculous.

'I must say that I'm truly grateful to be able to spend my evening with a woman as beautiful at you.'

She turned to him, smiling. Aww. 'Thank you,' she answered. 'It's nice to be spending the evening with a gentleman like you, too.' Really, it was. She was grateful.

'Though I'm not quite sure what to do now that we're here. I've never been to any sort of gathering like this before.'

'Neither have I,' she said, a bit awkwarclly. That she knew of, anyway. Why did she always feel like she was lying when she said things like that? It wasn't her fault she didn't know. She was probably just feeling uncomfortable because of the situation. It was a bit strange for her. She had been surprised that she'd been able to find the dress. Maybe Lily'd made it for her and somehow snuck it into her things?

'Why don't you tell me what you want to do? It'll be more entertaining for the both of us that way. We can do whatever you want. We can dance, we could get something to drink and chat for a while. Although I feel it's only right to warn you that I'm far from the best dancer in the world.'

'Don't worry. Neither am I. I don't think I've ever danced before, actually,' she said. It was kind of loud in here. It must have been a large crowd. But she tried not to let it get to her. 'A drink would be nice, though.' She'd much rather talk than dance.

Idiot.

That was why she was so thankful that he showed up soon after that. But then she felt a little worse, because now that she thought back, she realized he'd been just a little bit away from her spot on the table. She held back a grimace. She must have blown his ears off.

'Yes, I'm Vanilla Bard. It's nice to meet you, Imogen.'

'Hey,' she answered, trying to sound more brave than she was actually feeling. She hopped off the table, a little surprised that she'd been able to without falling over. Good. She felt... a little better. But her cheeks were probably still burning red. 'So... how's it going?'

"So... how's it going?" Vanilla blinked, studying Imogen for a moment. She sure seemed embarrassed; maybe she wasn't used to these kind of festivals? Well, Vanilla could kind of relate. He was a bit nervous too, but not enough to be blushing. He smiled a bit, nodding his head. Vanilla glanced around absentmindedly, watching the other patrons dance. "Well, honestly, I was kind of bored. But now that you're here, I'm doing better." He chuckled and turned back over to Imogen. "So, shall we dance?"

As her hands fell into one with the roses, Myrta was at silence for the first time in her life. There was nothing to say, nothing to do but stare at the flowers she held in her hand. I've never even received flowers from Mikhail... Pushing the roses up until her nose touched to them, she smelt of their new wonders and felt her heart skip a beat. If the skip was good, or bad she was uncertain.

"Thanks." She managed to say once she'd come back to reality, smiling at him from behind the flowers. She wasn't ready to give up at smelling the beauty they managed to obtain.

Was I waiting? Glancing around, Myrta finally allowed the roses to fall down from her face "Well," she began before remembering her thinking on the matter "I figured if you were going to show, you'd eventually find me, so a friend of mine and I got a small dance in. Other than that, I've been relaxed waiting to see if you were really going to show." Eyes falling back onto this 'Nathaniel' man, her shoulders shrugged forward "Never know if you're going to be ditched, or not. Even if you had, I wouldn't sulk I'd simply enjoy myself. I didn't come here to live in drama of one person not showing." There was a simple nod, and she sighed. I always talk too much. Her words scolding herself silently.

"Were you looking for me long?" It was at this moment Myrta realized, she finally would need a table. For the flowers- so much for not worrying about grabbing one before they were filled. "Before you answer that, we should probably get ourselves a table. It's crowded...I have a feeling this is going to be a challenge." Biting on her bottom lip, those eyes were already scanning for a free table. Was there any left? Or, were the two sore out of luck?

Only time could tell such a story ending.

Min Hee was now grinning widely from ear to ear, clearly thrilled as Cloud and she danced among the crowd. His encouragement pleased her, and she giggled a thanks as they came to a stop in the middle of the dance floor. “Would you like to grab something to eat?” he asked, smiling. The girl nodded energetically. “Totally! I never got to eat. I’m sooo hungry~!”

Was he blushing? The corners of Min Hee’s lips twitched upward into a smirk that lasted for only a half second before melting away. Oh, this was wonderful! Her previous plans for living her own “romance movie” had failed, but this time things would go her way. She was sure of it. Finally, she’d found something on this island to keep her occupied for a while. This was a chance that couldn’t afford to be lost. She’d have to play her cards right.

“I’m glad I was stuck with someone… Like you.”

Ah? Had she caught him already? Maybe so much effort wouldn’t be entirely necessary. Min Hee beamed up at the young man. She was used to this type of attention from guys, but hadn’t expected it to come so soon. Nonetheless, it absolutely tickled her pink. “Really? That’s so sweet~ I’m happy I got to be with you too~!” she chirped. You’re so lucky to have been paired with such a beautiful, amazing girl like me!

She had this in the bag. After her failed encounters prior to this, she wasn’t about to let Cloud slip out of her grasp too. The moment she’d set her sights on the poor boy, he had been doomed to follow in the footsteps of previous boyfriends… The teen wasn’t going to allow otherwise.

((Oh dear, Kiss. I'm sorry to inform you, but unless he weasels out of it somehow, Cloud is now fated to have his heart broken by Min Hee ^^;;))

He was beginning to regain his senses as Odetta kneeled beside him, inquiring on his condition. Mu smiled weakly at her. His current circumstances weren’t exactly pleasing, but the woman’s concern made him feel better, if only slightly. Though, he had to admit, the worried expression on her face seemed somehow different from the one she had worn previously.

Blinking up at her, he simply sat there on the floor for a while, gazing directly into her eyes with a strange, far-off look. The effect of her dress seemed to have broken, and he no longer had to fight to keep from looking down. She really was beautiful. A little scary, but beautiful.

“I’m fine…” Mu mumbled, finally averting his gaze to pull himself to his feet. He had to get a grip on himself. If he passed out, it would be terribly disappointing and quite a waste of time.

Nathaniel watched as the blonde girl received the bouquet. He folded his arms across his chest, gauging her response with slight interest. He had an ideal reaction in his head. If she fell to her knees, crying with happiness, thanking the heavens, and kissing the ground at his feet, then... well, his evening would be the exact opposite of what he thought! And, for a moment when he saw her in a state of sort of awe and speechlessness, he wondered if he would actually experience such a miracle. But the thought was extinguished in an instant. Instead, Myrta brought the flowers to her nose and smelled them. Soon after, he received a simple, "Thanks," from behind the roses.

... And that was all.

He turned his face to the side and scowled. That was all? Did she know the trouble he went through to get those things? The money he paid? The lives lost-- well, perhaps that was too far for this scenario, but nevertheless! Nathaniel felt at least a bit more gratitude was due. He opened his mouth to launch into a lecture, but quickly held his tongue. His brow tightened as he considered the consequences of ruining this date. 'How was it?' Zephyr would ask afterwards. 'Wonderful,' he would reply, even though he destroyed her evening. 'LIES!' his cousin would shriek before... well, he didn't even want to imagine what torture he'd be put through next.

Point was, if he screwed this up - and, knowing his cousin, she would be keeping an eye on him to see if he did - then things would not be nice. Still, though, this girl... was already growing tiresome. As he listened to her, this impression deepened. He wrinkled his nose slightly as she spoke, not particularly liking how things were going. Essentially, he was expendable to her. The mere thought made his blood began to boil. She was nothing but an ant to him! How dare--

Nathaniel forced himself to stop and take a deep breath. He couldn't mess this up. He didn't have to enjoy it, just... bear with it. Really, why hadn't he gotten a medal yet for all he put up with?

Sighing, he focused in on the conversation as he was asked a question. Nathaniel opened his mouth to reply, only to be cut off by Myrta. About getting a table, of all things! Nathaniel clenched his jaw. Of all the people he could get stuck with, he got a motormouth! The man touched a hand to his temple. Hopefully he wouldn't be on the floor with a migraine by the end of the night... Taking in another deep breath, he turned to her. "No, I wasn't looking long," he replied with a barely veiled annoyance. "As for a table, it shouldn't be too hard." The man looked around with narrowed eyes, looking over heads to find a free table. He soon spotted one hidden in the corner and pointed to it.

"There, hurry up and go," he said a bit roughly to her. "Or someone else'll get it." Without even looking back, he stormed off through the crowd, pushing when necessary. Nathaniel went fairly quickly, not bothering to wait - hey, if he was so expendable and she was so independent, then surely she would be fine, right?

Rose smiled at Trey. "Yes, you two would have fun I think." She glanced out into the crowd of dancers and spotted Ulyssus. "It looks like your uncle and his date are having a good time." Finishing off her cake she glanced down at Trey. "Would you like to do some exploring, or perhaps you had something else in mind?"

~*~

Fred rolled his eye as Jim started talking about how he smelt good; man, this kid could NOT hold his liquor. "Nope, I just naturally smell amazing. Now come one, Jimbo, let's get dancing before you pass out." Keeping Jim steady he pulled him towards a fairly empty portion of the dance floor. Don't want him running into anyone. Glancing towards Hazel, he was happy to see that she was smiling, and looking fairly excited. Poor guy...hope he can handle her. Shaking his head with a chuckle, he looked back at his new 'partner' with a crooked smile. "So, ready to dance?"

~*~

Melody and Preston sat up, wiping tears of mirth from their eyes. Helping his sister up, Preston smiled. "Hey, I'll go get us some drinks, alright?" Still laughing somewhat, he headed off back towards the drink table. Smiling after him, Melody let her eyes drift around the festival. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. And then she saw him.
Claude.
Her heart stopped as she saw him, a gasp escaping her mouth; he looked absolutely dashing in his tuxedo. It really made him stand out, more than he already did. She took a step forward to go say hi, but stopped when she saw the woman on his arm; she was beautiful. Some how a lump formed in her throat.
Of course he'd have a date, and of course she'd be beautiful. It's nothing to be surprised about. If you had your sketchbook, you'd be drawing them....
Despite her efforts to comfort herself, the evening suddenly lost it's glow. She hoped Blaze would get tired of the evening soon so they could all leave.

"So, ready to dance?" Looking up at Fredrick, Jim smiled, albeit crookedly. He nodded his head slowly, doing his best not to make himself hurl again from moving too fast. Slowly, gripping Fredrick's hand and placing his other on his shoulder, Jim began to dance. His eyes closed and, for the duration of that one dance, he felt as if everything else didn't matter. He wasn't even paying attention to the throbbing of his head or the swirling of his gut. The only thing Jim focused on was keeping up with Fred so he didn't stumble and crush his feet or something.

Aerith was really quite charming. She was a well-spoken young woman and was just the right amount of feminine for his tastes. He was relieved when she informed him that she'd never danced herself and would prefer to sit and talk over a drink. That made things so much simpler. The last thing Claude needed was to make himself look like a fool by attempting to dance and stepping on his date's toes the whole night.

From the corner of his eye, Claude noticed Melody staring at him and he sent a smile and a quick wave in her direction. if he'd not been assigned a date, he'd have gone to speak to her, but tonight his undivided attention belonged to the woman on his arm.

"Let's see here..." The blonde man trailed off, glancing around until he found an empty table for Aerith and himself, "Ah. There's a table for us. Why don't we go claim it and then I'll get our drinks?" Claude managed to combine a gentlemanly demeanor and a delicate ease to the way he started his walk toward the empty table. He'd wanted to appear to outsiders to be moving normally so that nobody would think he was treating his date delicately because of her infirmity, but at the same time he didn't want to suddenly cause her to trip or stumble either. Of course, even had Aerith been capable of seeing, Claude would have treated his with the utmost delicacy. Women--most of them anyway--were special beings worthy of being given the greatest care possible.

It was good he didn't have to wait long- Myrta hersef showed up early to hopefully allow him to find her easier. Although he didn't show up early or when the first set of people began to show, so eradicating the idea of waiting she went on occupying herself with the company of Kent. Never once really looking for Nathaniel, knowing she gave him the best description she was up for to find her. If he was determined, he'd do just that- Except as the man had pointed out it was an epic fail and she ended up helping herself afterall. Not that she was exactly looking for him...but all the less she got roses out of it, and that was worth the find!

"Mmkay." She said simply, her noses getting caught in the waft of those roses while she weaved her way through the crowd- again. Barley looking up, her eyes caught as well in the look of such a beautiful thing, she slowly made her way to the table. "I never noticed how beautiful a rose could be." Smiling widely, she glanced up, gently placing the roses down on the surface of their table. Hand reaching out, her fingers pulled on rose from the bunch, and broke enough of the stem off until it was shortened a fair amount, checking for thorns she sighed contently when she found non on the little bit left. Hands moving up to her hair the rose was placed within it, and she then placed herself down into a chair, pulling her dress down in fear it was riding up too much- which it actually was not.

Back reassuring her she wouldn't fall from her seat, she allowed her body to relax- but not to where she'd look sloppy. Those two hues glanced upward into the night sky, admiring it's beauty, and realizing the sky had been far prettier many nights than a rose could ever be- but in the moment none of that mattered. Her roses were it all for the night, and until they wilted and died- unlike her memories from this night. Those would not wilt into dust, and be blown away by the wind.

Throwing her eyes away from the gorgeous sky and back down into the reality happening around her, she glanced over to Nathaniel, and was at lack of words for questions. What did you ask a stranger you knew nothing about? Surely, she could think of something.

"What was your reason for signing up for the blind date?" Yes, she surely could come up with something- hopefully he'd answer this without offense. She had no problem with the man- not yet at least.
