Chimera followed along, hand relaxed in his - curiously not saying a word. Maybe because she really was worried about the younger boy. Maybe (more likely) because this new development was just so damn dramatic and she couldn't risk interrupting a single second of the Soap-in-the-making.

So maybe taking glee in an underage kid's drinking problem made her a horrible person. She certainly didn't seem to mind. At least, though, this time she refrained from bursting into laughter, or rummaging through any personal belongings of the intoxicated. Though it was certainly tempting.

She watched as the kid came up, pretty much landed on Fred, and stopped making much sense altogether.

"Whoops, looks like you came a bit too late this time," she remarked lightly, giving the slightest grin to her had-been partner. "I'll go get him some water," Looking back at the boy and his suddenly funny mannerisms, she added as an afterthought - "Maybe a bucket."

With that, Chimera pulled away from the Saviour Of All Festival Drunks and made a deliberate trek toward the food table again, peeking back over her shoulder every few steps to catch any juicy parts of this little story.

Rugged Miner Man With A Dark Past and Disturbed Binge-Drinking Teen - too good~!

Before he could give his temporary date a smart comeback she was already heading off towards the drink table, though he noticed that she kept looking back. Making a face at her then grinning he looked back at Jim, holding him out at arm's length. Wow, he was wasted. Did he drink a whole case?? "No...I don't think you need any more of the magical liquid, Jimbo. Hazel had the right idea; let's get you some water."

It was as if a spark of electricity had entered Mu the moment Odetta reached for his hand, running up his arm and down his back in a single wave. She was… touching him. A girl was holding his hand. A girl wanted to dance with him. Suddenly, a large mixture of strange sensations was overcoming him. His head was spinning, his stomach was somersaulting, his skin was tingling…

And then, before he knew what he was doing, they were on the dance floor. His mother had taught him to waltz for formal company events, but the skill had never really come to use since girls seemed to always turn him down. But this Odetta… She had come to him. She had chosen to ask him!

A bit awkward, Mu placed a hand on the woman’s back, positioning himself to perform the steps he’d been taught in his living room back home. His heart nearly burst however, when his fingertips touched bare skin. Her dress was backless. Having only seen her from the front, he hadn’t been expecting that.

Almost immediately, the young man went limp and nearly fell on top of Odetta, barely managing to steady himself by grabbing her shoulders. He felt lightheaded and dizzy and yet absolutely entranced. Was that… normal? Maybe she was some kind of witch... But the good kind, right? Right...?

Before he sees us? That wasn’t quite what she had meant to say, because it had already become quite obvious to Madeline that her father had, indeed, seen them. He’d been twirling through the crowd, dancing with a statue, and glaring down on her date like a predator getting ready to devour its prey! She had seen the glint in his eyes, and set of his jaw. It had only been a matter of time before he swooped down like a hawk, coming in for its kill. She would not allow it! She would not!

Blaise Chaffe, her wonderful, handsome (although funnily so, she would admit), dashing, romantic, thoughtful, perfect date was obviously confused about everything that was going on. He was also moving rather slow, hindering their escape plan. Or, well, rather, her escape plan. Blaise had no idea what was going on, or that they were very close to having their entire evening ruined. And she would not have it, by the merciful God above, she would love this date tonight and go home a very smitten and happy young woman!

Madeline glanced in back of her, afraid that she was going to spot her huge father stampeding after them with puffs of smoke blasting from his nostrils (he did resemble a bull, after all). However, amazingly, he was still stuck at the festival. He seemed to be slightly preoccupied, yelling at someone who had obviously decided to have a talk to him about his disrespect toward the holy Goddess statue he had decided to use as a very poor attempt of a dancing partner.

It was their blessed chance, and Madeline took it with arms open wide. Using her free hand to pick up her dress, she quickly hopped over some low, scraggly, bushes and then began to help Blaise do the same, paying no mind to the fact that she was the woman and he the man and, in normal circumstances, the situation was supposed to be reversed.

“Quickly,” she told him in a breathless whisper, already whirling around and starting off again. “We must hide while he’s preoccupied! He’ll ruin everything, if he sees us.” Turning around, she glanced back at Blaise and repeated hoarsely, Everything. I can’t let him. Please, follow me!”

"No...I don't think you need any more of the magical liquid, Jimbo. Hazel had the right idea; let's get you some water." Jim hiccuped, laughing a tad. "Aw, okay. But then we dance!" Smiling a bit too happily from the idea of dancing with Fred, Jim stayed very close to the older male as they made their way toward the drink table. He was staying so near to Fred for two reasons: The first being that he didn't want to fall over and the second being that the close proximity was comforting. Almost like a shield.

"You...you know what? You know what? I..don't like her!" By 'her', Jim was referring to Min Hee Ko. And he made this clear by pointing the aqua haired teen out to Fredrick. "She's....bad. She's just bad!" He hiccuped again.

"Ah, she smelt your fear, didn't she? I told ya Jimbo! Your problem is you need to keep your emotions under control." He held onto Jim, making sure he didn't fall; to him their closeness was natural since the poor kid was as drunk as a skunk. Whatever the hell THAT means. But he had to admit that talking to drunk Jimbo was kinda funny. Well, so long as he didn't throw up, because that would put a damper on things. On most likely on Fred's shirt.

Yep, just like a spark of electricity, or something along those lines. You see, Odetta had this all planned out since she'd even spotted Mu Kun, poor boy. She had been excited for two things upon the mention and arrival of the festival; her sisters impending doom, er, I mean victory at winning the title of Goddess, and her date. Since that little detail had gone down without a hitch, though she had to admit it wasn't nearly as exciting as she'd hoped, it was now time for her second part of the night to come into play. While she couldn't find her date (or so she guessed, anyway), this poor, defenseless man was now the victim. And to compensate for the lack of fireworks that her first plan didn't have, she'd simply have to have enough fun to make up for it.

And that meant dancing. The only problem was, waltzing was simply not her cup of tea. In fact, no formal dancing was. Her style of dance was rather... informal, at best, and had Mu known what exactly that meant, he'd probably run off in the opposite direction. Specifically and accurately, her dancing could be described as something most people never, ever did, and if they ever did it was generally in the comfort of their own home. But luckily for everyone attending the festival right then and there, she planned to express herself, her emotions, and how she felt at exactly that moment in that specific style of dance. Let's just call it interpretive, shall we?

Still, just as she prepared herself for her mind blowing routine to come, something happened. Poor boy, whatever his name was, appeared to be getting quite... weird again. Things seemed to be going okay for a while, or at least a minute, until Mu got into the position to dance. He placed his fingers against Odetta's bare back and that seemed to be all it took. It was like he came undone and he stumbled before limply leaning forward onto Odetta, his hands using her shoulders as balance beams. She raised an eyebrow and smirked, liking where this was going. Still, she had to play it off, had to be coy. She hadn't caught him yet; this man seemed different, less open than the other she'd played with. He probably wouldn't be as accepting of her as others had.

Odetta tilted her head, gently pressing her hands against his chest to steady him before smiling. "Are you okay? You look dizzy... do you need something to drink?"

NC's eyes caught sight of the closest description to fit his date yet. She had suddenly rushed toward the table decorated with foods and drinks, glancing over her shoulder as she walked. He looked to see what had her attention and caught sight of two men, one visibly unstable. Drinking too much? Likely, but another man was not of his concern. His concern was for the girl who had parted them alone. If she was his date then he needed to apologize. If his absence had caused her to have to stick with two men like that then he was an awful man himself.

He made his way toward her, as quiet as ever. He pulled out his notebook and pen, jotting a few words down that he would need to use to communicate. And it was already bad enough arriving late, he simply hoped he wouldn't upset her by making her read his words. Would that just make it annoying?

However, upon getting closer he noticed she seemed to be having a fun time... Should he even bother? But he couldn't have her think he was rude. He certainly didn't mean to be. So he approached who he believed to be Chimera, tapping her gently on the shoulder and holding up his notebook.

"Might you be Miss Chimera Hazeld?"

Yes, these were the only written words, but perhaps if she was Chimera then she would recognize him as her missing date... As well as possibly allow him to apologize...

Heading herself to the table with food, she finally picked up a plate and listened to her growling stomach as she piled some random foods onto it. “But my date hasn’t showed up yet and I’m so lonely~” "That's unfortunate." If they had been here, I could have still been dancing. Nyida thought while she pushed some chips into her mouth. She hadn't realized just how hungry she was until she started eating. "I would help you find him, except I'm new around here so I don't really know anyone except Jim, Fred and now yourself."

It was at the mention of Jim's name that Nyida glanced back to where he used to be, only to discover he'd disappeared from the spot. Scanning the crowd for him, she barley caught Min's question, "I understand getting bored, and ye-" Stopping herself Nyida's cheeks flushed, her head snapping back toward Min. "He's alright for a date. He's quite the dancer though." Winking, she motioned over to Jim. "If you don't mind, it looks like my date might be having some trouble. Why don't you go see if your date is here, and if not meet up with us?" Why'd you say that?! Flashing her a forced smile as she walked off, Nyida began to make her way across to Jim.

"Hey Fred!" She shouted. "Is everything alright over there?!"

Fred paused, mid step, and saw Nydia calling to him. He smiled a bit sheepishly, "Ahhh...well...." He stole a glance at Jim. "I think he accidentally got ahold of some alcohol." Waving his hands he blurted, "But he's not usually like this! Never had alcohol before!" I don't want her to think poorly of him! She is his date after all. "So..uh..Hazel went to get some water, and now I'm taking Jimbo over there so maybe he can be snapped back to normal...hopefully.

"Alcohol?! Oh, so THAT'S what I drank!" Jim shouted, almost proudly, and laughed at himself once more. He wondered to himself why his father had told him never to drink it; the stuff didn't taste bad and it was making this festival fun! At least, for now. Jim had heard stories about how people got really sick after drinking alcohol. His stomach lurched and Jim suddenly understood why. He felt like he wanted to puke. But he didn't want to get it on Fred.

So, Jim turned away from him and, before he could move anywhere else, he lurched forward and hurled. Coughing, he groaned a tad. Okay, maybe this wasn't so much fun after all...

Fred patted Jim's back sympathetically, "Well...on the bright side you didn't get any on me." Looking around, Fred began to pull Jim towards the drink table again. "Come on; let's get you some water, and then you can sit down, okay?"

As they got closer to the table, Fred noticed a man holding out a piece of paper towards Hazel. Hm...I wonder if that's her date. After I get Jimbo all settled I'll check it out.'

Hiccuping, Jim nodded with a small groan as he plopped down in the nearest chair by the drink table. He turned over and examined all the liquids they had, including one titled 'Beer' on the can. Jim looked away quickly. As fun as it was to be this way, he didn't think he'd ever want to drink another alcoholic beverage again. Especially if it made him this sick! And besides, his parents would probably kill him for even accidentally drinking it.

"Hey...you....you promised me a dance!" Jim murmured as he gripped onto Fredrick's sleeve, paranoid that the older man might ditch him for someone else. He wanted his dance first, then Fred could go running after anyone he wanted to. A promise was a promise and Jim would make sure that Fredrick kept his.

Was it wrong that this was almost just as entertaining as the dance?

Chimera felt a surge of self-importance and glee as she meandered over to the drink table, finding that good ol' water pitcher and a glass to pour some old fashioned hydration into. This brought back memories of backyard and basement parties - at least, the ones she did remember - and when she wasn't busy getting plastered herself, she would occupy the night with bugging the hell out of anyone drunk and die laughing at their reactions, and then out of guilt she would be the one responsible for getting them settled down. Maybe draw on their faces just for extra measure, so much for the guilt.

And even though she wasn't sure Fred would appreciate her tormenting the poor kid, she was sorely tempted to. Maybe she should really be more sensitive about things like this, though. She pondered the idea as she filled the glass almost the whole way, and figured maybe a mind game or two wouldn't really hurt anyone that bad -

But upon turning around her devious plans were interrupted. Because there was a boy standing there, dressed in layers and layers, holding up a notebook. Chimera blinked, raising an eyebrow, and then realized she was supposed to read it.

Having to lean forward and squint a bit to make out the writing (despite the fireflies and crafty little lamps, it was beginning to get dark), she pursed her lips inquisitively. "Mm, yes, that's me, why--"

And then, looking back up at him in the face, it clicked. Explosively.

"You're Naoji Tanaka!" She squealed without warning, blustery excitement whirling up into a giddy cry. Maybe even rivalling that of Cotton Candy Girl's disruptive announcement. But she looked at him like he was a ghost, or maybe a thought-to-be-dead celebrity, or maybe just something very unexpected and delightful; Chimera was left amazed and exuberant and pleasantly surprised all at once.

[ooc;; holy crapola I'm sorry, Weiss, I didn't see your message in the cbox about waiting for Vanilla's reply before I made my last post. x_x"]

Jacob had trouble controlling his face.

It sounded horribly stupid and, well, it sort of was. But it was true. When around most people - strangers, especially - his facial expressions were terribly limited to a range between irked and... rather murderous. Though, why was it that he could convey his emotions a little better around those he was closer to? ... Augh, none of it made any sense. Mull over it later, he told himself with an inward sigh. Here, the man pulled himself out of his thoughts and focused his attention fully on the conversation. He had to make it up to this girl for being so late; the least he could do was listen to what she was saying.

As he noticed the stumbling and the uneasiness of her words, he sighed, outwardly this time. He wasn't overly surprised that Charlotte was acting this way, especially after the angry-looking faces he must've been unintentionally pulling. Damn face. Why must you disobey me so.

Ah, well, he just had to... try his best to recover. It was the only thing he really could do, after all. Jacob hoped that his gift would be a good start to turning things around. So he watched, eyes masking a bit of anticipation and anxiety, as Charlotte carefully took the box in her hand. Within seconds, she appeared to go from surprised to quietly pleased to, hm, surprised again? In any case, a tiny smile tugged at the corners of his own lips as he saw her lips form a small ring. It lingered a bit as she looked up and asked him what it was.

"Chocolate," he told her simply. "Hope it's fine." Jacob had contemplated a necklace or bracelet of some kind, but it just seemed too odd and risky to give to someone he had never even met before. He took in a deep breath and rubbed the back of his neck, glancing around the area for a moment before meeting Charlotte's gaze again. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, "Uh, so. What... do you want to do?"
