  • Autumn 17th, Year 4
    Sunday, 2:00p.m.

What the hell was this place? Every step further that he took through the village of Obsidian seemed to only enhance his bewilderment, and he couldn’t decide whether or not that was a good thing. It had intrigued him since the moment he had summoned the ferry driver to his side, asking where on earth the ferry could go when there was nothing out there but water. When he had pointed out into the ocean at what Cole could only describe as a speck, he could hardly believe that people would inhabit such a ridiculously small place.

It wasn’t as though he had anything better to do, or any better place to go. Ever since leaving the heavily populated streets of London, he’d found himself wondering with no real purpose or meaning. Everything had turned black and white since the day his business had went up in flames, and it was surprising to him that this small island had sparked an interest.

Even as he walked through the clean brick streets lined with rows of neatly trimmed trees whose leaves had turned the colors of fall, the business man inside him began to calculate just how advantageous it would be to claim hold of this place. It was a small island, yes, and more than half of it was still preserved in wilderness, but that only added to its value. With a quick calculation, Cole determined that Obsidian could not possibly hold more than fifty occupants, including family members in each household.

Eagerly, he smiled to himself as he leaned against the open gates which led to the largest house in all of the village. No doubt it belonged to the Mayor, and that was just the man he wanted to have a short chat with. Letting out one last puff of smoke from his long cigar, Cole removed it from his lips and put it out on the gates he was leaning against. And with a deliberately slow gait, he made his way up to the grand double doors.

    ----

The first thing that Cole noticed was a petite maid in the lobby area. His cold blue eyes roamed over her figure, taking note of her traditional attire. He surmised that perhaps the Mayor of the village struck to tradition, and that thought did not bode well. From previous experience, they were the hardest kind to persuade due to their unrelenting stubbornness. A mocking smile transformed his hard face, making him appear dark and sinister. Money could buy anything or anyone, all he had to do was name his price. Today, he would walk out of this estate the new owner of this island.

Stepping forward, Cole drew his attention back to his surroundings in search of the Mayor. When he found no sight of him, he turned his gaze back over to the only other person in the room. “Excuse me, miss.” He addressed the maid with a charming smile, but his eyes held no warmth. “I believe this is the Mayor’s residence?”

(( I’ll role-play the Mayor. But if you want, you can go fetch him. Or you can just reply to Cole and I’ll bring him out in the next post. :] ))

"The kitchen is clean Madame," Kin explained as she opened the door leading towards the Estate Library, where it was common to find the Mayors wife snuggled up in her favorite chair, book in hand, and glasses nearly falling off the tip of her nose. Slowly closing the door behind her, Kin stared at all the books lining the walls of the room. Though she had seen them many times, when dusting or rearranging them, to her own liking, she still couldn't help but be amazed by the sheer number of them. Kin had to wonder though, had the Mayors wife really read all of them? It didn't seem possible.

"Oh, good, thank you Kin," The women explained removing her glasses and setting the book to the side. Kin gave a tiny curtsy, showing her respect for the women and waited for a sign that she might take her leave.

When the minutes dragged by, and the woman gave no sign of saying anything, or giving Kin any approval to leave the maid softly spoke up. "Is...there anything you need Madame?"

"Oh!" It seemed like the thought had finally hit her in a flash of lightning "Yes, I just remembered. You know the crystal vase in the lobby? It's in need of a good dusting and see if theres anything you can do to make it shine," Kin nodded "That is all, you may leave."

Wasting no time to get out of the Library, Kin quickly turned on her heel, and closed the door behind her.

Once in the lobby way the petite maid stared at the Vase. The Mayors Wife had been right! It was a complete mess! Dust had begun to gather on the handles, and Goddess only knew what was on the inside. How could this have escaped her notice?

'Excuse me, miss. I believe this is the Mayor’s residence?” Kin turned around noticing that somebody was adressing her, the man loomed over her almost like a giant would a human, then again. It wasn't that rare to find a person larger then Kin seeing she was so small. Sniffing at the strange scent, she suddenly had the urge to gag, what was the horrible smell?

Refusing to cover her nose Kin smiled warmly giving a bow. "Hello. Welcome to the Chrysocolla Estate, home of Mayor Thomas. I'll be right back with him. Please make yourself comfortable!" Giving yet another bow the maid scurried her way up the stairs towards the Mayors office.

Knocking twice on the door leading towards the office, Kin let herself in. "Excuse me? Mayor Thomas?" The short man glanced up from the papers he was working on.

"Yes, what is it Kin?"

"Theres, a man waiting downstrairs for you."

"Oh, Thank you my dear, come now." Jumping up from his seat, Kin followed the man down the stairs and back into the Lobby way.

(you can rp the Mayor if you want, I just got him for us. Blah, I dont like this post that much, oh well!)

  • It wasn’t until he came to stand before her that he realized how small she was. Cole was only slightly over average in his male height, and yet he easily towered over her. It was a strange sight to see, especially since the women he often acquainted himself with back in London were usually average or considered tall for a woman. Perhaps she was Asian, although he found it hard to tell for she did not have the distinct features of an Asian.

His pointless thoughts took an abrupt turn when he noticed the look that crossed her face as she neared him, if only for a moment. Humor drew the corners of his lips up and a distant memory of a beautiful black haired woman flashed through his mind. Isabelle’s brilliant amber eyes flicking to the thick cigar he held between his teeth as he took a deep swag of it. The same look had passed over her, if only for the barest of a moment, and she had proceeded to ask him later that night why he smoked such horrible smelling things.

Then suddenly his face turned cold, letting the unwanted memories slip from his mind. The small maid did not seem to notice his abrupt change of mood because she was already heading up the stairs in order to obediently bring him the Mayor. And when that man emerged from the stairway, Cole was taken aback. Of course, he did not show the slightest sign of his shock, but merely stared forward with a cool, impassive smile touching his lips.

“Mayor,” he greeted with a polite bow at the waist, deciding that was the best action considering the traditional Japanese outfit his maid was wearing. The Mayor was short beyond comprehension, standing just barely at the height of the young woman standing at his side. But he was not old, nor even suffering from any graying hairs.

“Call me Thomas, m’boy.” The friendliness of the short, fat man was somewhat unnerving. Cole stiffly straightened himself out, reaching out to shake the man’s small hand when Thomas had thrust it out in an over animated gesture. “I believe I’ve not seen you here in Obsidian before.”

“I’ve just arrived today,” Cole informed him with a grin that flashed perfect white teeth, “And I find this island fascinating.”

Pride swelled in the little man, just as he expected it to. Cole smoothly went on in a discussion about the superb up keeping of the village itself, from the freshly cleaned sidewalks to the healthy grass and trees that were seeming to still flourish despite the autumn season. And with each praising complement he handed the Mayor, the more Mr. Thomas glowed with pride.

“I believe we can really make something out of this island, Mr. Thomas.” He presented but then slid his gaze over toward the small maid standing beside Thomas. He flashed her a quick smile before turning his attention back to the Mayor and continued by proposing, “Shall we discuss my proposition somewhere private?”

Mr. Thomas looked confused for a minute, as though he didn’t understand where the conversation had headed. But Cole patiently waited before him until Thomas was able to comprehend that he was no longer flattering him but wanting to discuss business related matters with him. With quite a bit of hesitation, Thomas smiled unsurely before motioning for Cole to follow after him.

“Miss Kin,” Thomas stopped to address the maid, “Excuse us.”

Cole glanced back at the maid, his thick brows drawing together. He found it extremely strange that the Mayor would be so polite to someone that was beneath his status, far beneath, and to even turn around and politely excuse himself of her company. Only momentarily distracted by this, he easily discarded it a moment later when Mr. Thomas called for him to follow.

    --------------------

Approximately twenty minutes later, both men came shuffling down the stairs. The Mayor looked quite happy, a bemused smile spread across his face as he wagged one of his pudgy fingers in the air and remarked, “I’ll expect only the best, Mr. MacFallen.”

Cole did not look nearly as pleased. In fact, he looked quite perplexed. Nonetheless, his easily smile returned as he said, “I never give anything less.”

Enthusiastically, and looking quite beside himself with excitement, Mayor Thomas quickly summoned for the same maid that had been downstairs when Cole had first arrived. “My dear,” he greeted her with warmth and, if he wasn’t mistaken, a twinkle in his eye. “Please take Mr. MacFallen’s measurements and create the costume I had spoken to you about earlier this week. He is to be your partner.” And with that, the Mayor walked back up the stairs quite apparently humming to himself.

Cole on the other hand had his head bowed ever so slightly, one of his hands rubbing at his chin in deep thought. Things hadn’t gone as he had expected at all, and he really had no idea how he had gotten into this predicament. One way or another, Mr. Thomas has gotten him to agree to play villain in the upcoming festival they were having at Obsidian. With a bemused smile Cole glanced up toward the stairs and chuckled to himself. Apparently, he had underestimated him.

Kin watched the two men before her with such intrest and attentiveness of a young school girl, hanging onto each and every single word coming out of their favorite idol's mouth. Eyes flickering back and forth, from one to another as the two men politely exchanged greetings. It was so intresting, and serious, like one of those movies with the mob. Where the larger man would sit behind a luxurious, taking deep inhails of a cigar, which Kin was sure would be the death of him, unless somebody shot him.

Not noticing that she was standing there, in front of the men watching their every movement the girl quickly turned around picking up her cleaning supplies and headed over towards the vase, which needed to be cleaned. Picking up a freashly washed snow white towle, which by all others standers seemed to nice to be used for a common cleaning rag, she carefully ran a quick hand all over the vase, picking up most the dust which had collected over the few days it had not been cleaned.

Still, even with her back towards the men, it was easy to hear just what was going on. Kin smiled to herself setting down the cloth, and backing away to examin the beginings of her work. As a maid, one was allowed into every single room of the house. Even the ones, people didn't want other people to be in. Also it gave her clear acess to go through any scattered papers, that just might be in the way of her cleaning.

But her favorite thing about being a maid would be, being invisible. Yes, though sad to believe if one was cleaning quietly in the corner, while a bussiness meeting was going on, Kin suddenly turned invisible and heard things, she wouldn't hear before.

So he had just arrived on the island? What would a man in a bussiness suit want with a tiny place like this? Kin had learned years ago that men in suits often meant trouble, what could he want? Of course, this question was answered with a single sentance. Eyes lowering, she continued to clean away at the vase. From the sounds of it, the two would be heading up to the Mayors office soon.

Her thoughts proven correct, Kin turned away a kind smile aimed towards the kind Mayor.

After twenty minutes, Kin stood back to admire her work. The vase was perfect in every single way possible, not a single speck of dust on the entire surface. Shining so brightly Kin was sure that if a person took it outside in the sunlight and aimed it at somebodies eyes, they would go blind. Clapping her hands together she quickly returned to the cleaning supplies closet, put everything back in its proper place. Another task finished, now she needed to go finish the laundry.

Walking back into the waiting room she watched as Mayor Thomas and the stranger walked down the stairs, a rather pleased look adorning the smaller man's face. Seeing she was being adressed the maid curtseyed.

"My partner? Oh, yes! Of course sir," Turning to the other man Kin waved a polite hello before leading him back up the staircases.

The two walked in silence, Kin not quite sure what to say, the awful smell had been masked over time but she still raised her nose in disgust. How could anyone enjoy those horrid things? Leading the way around the corner and towards another flight of stairs.

"My room is right up here, Mr...MacFallen?" begining the rather tiring climb up towards the third floor Kin once again glanced over her shoulder. "My name is Tsuyayaka Kinmokusei by the way, its a pleasure to meet you."

Quickening her pace down the wooden hallway the girl stopped infront of a door with perfectly healthy green plant right in front of the doorway. Reaching into her apron, she unlocked the door and held it open, allowing the man passage into her living quaters. The room was simple, much like a maid's room would be, with a neatly made bed in the corner, along with large wardrobe, bookshelf and desk. The windows were open, allowing a soft refreashing breeze into the attic room.

"Please make yourself comfortable, I need to find my measuring tape, by the way, just how did Mayor Thmoas bully you into this?"

  • Cole’s attention was slowly drawn back to the dark blond as she greeted him prettily and motioned for him to follow her. The walk up the stairs and through the halls remained silent, and he wasn’t sure what to make of the girl, Miss Kin, as Mr. Thomas had addressed her. To think that the job of Princess would be handed down to a mere maid working in the house, scrubbing it down top to bottom in order to try and make a decent living.

Aggravated, Cole glanced away and instead stared hard around him, taking in everything and storing it away in a memory that seemed to be flawless. Miss Kin finally decided to break the silence between them, out of nervousness or good manners he did not know. But when she addressed him as Mr. MacFallen, he could not help but smile.

The Mayor may have been a worthy adversary in terms of business, but when it came to his hearing Cole surpassed him indefinitely. When he had clearly introduced himself as Mr. MacFarland, the stout man had brilliantly heard it as MacFallen. Cole hadn’t bothered to correct him for he was too damn amused with the meaning behind the name and how true it seemed to ring in his life. Fallen was right, since everything had been taken from him back in England. How appropriate.

Miss Kin somehow found it necessary to introduce herself when he gave her no real reply. Her name was quite longwinded and difficult to pronounce, let alone remember. In the very least, she had just confirmed his earlier suspicions of her heritage being of Asian linage.

“What a name that is, Miss Kinmokusei,” He finally replied, and her name effortlessly rolled off the end of his tongue despite it’s length. As she led him through the last hallway he could only guess that she was going to take him to a guest room or some other similar room that could be used to their advantage. However, when she opened up the room before them and ushered him in, telling him that it was her living quarters, he felt his jaw tighten and his fingers down at his sides curl into fists.

He hadn’t been in a woman’s bedroom in a long, long time. The memories were quite unpleasant, assaulting him in quite vivid detail, and a cold sweat started to break out. Unable to hide the distress it was causing him, Cole lifted one of his hands and pinched the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes for a few moments to try and banish the visions.

Returning victor, he raised his head and focused his cold blue gaze on Miss Kin as she ushered him to sit down and make himself comfortable. Cole glanced passed her to assess the room and his eyes fell upon the small bed and, most possibly, the only sitting object in the room.

“I’m am sorry Miss Kin,” he interjected softly, deciding to switch to the nickname the Mayor had called her for convenience purposes. “I am quite the busy man and would like to get along with this as quickly as possible.” Then he proceeded to pull out a small pad of paper and a pen that looked as though it probably cost as much as the mansion did. Quickly, he wrote down his measurements on the paper, ripped it from the pad, and then held it out toward the maid.

But, in the end, he finally smiled his usual charming smile, while still somehow remaining impassive. “And we will just say that we’ve made a deal,” he told her, referring to the Mayor.

Kin effortless strolled over towards her desk opening one of the drawers and taking out a single sketch book which looked to be worn down to the core. Its once pure black cover showed signs of ripping, and different colored peices of paper stuck out at all different angles. Hoisting herself up onto the desk the gril frowned, where had her chair gone to? Oh yes, she had moved it into Blaise's room the night before where the two had spent the entire night chatting about nothing. Still, she needed to get the chair back soon, she wouldn't be able to work without it.

Opening the book Kin began to skim through all the different clothing designs she'd jolted down over the years. Simple and clean letters decorated the pages making notes wherever she pleased. What color the scheme she wanted, what fabric to use, and how many layers, it was over all rather neat when a person looked at it, like a design magazine.

Hearing her name, the girl glanced up and couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine. The way he said her name, so cooly, and effortlessly it was rather frightening. "Oh, thank you. You have a rather intresting name yourself, Mr. Macfarland, I don't believe I've heard that before,"

Turning back to the sketch book the girl smiled, pushing herself up and walking over towards the man holding out the book, where two designs stood waiting for his inspection.

"Mayor Thomas wanted to go with a rather dark theme, so I figured a sort of vampire theme was called for, neh?" Turning around once again Kin quickly took out her own notepad, old fashion pen, and meassuring tape. Kin blinked, hearing Cole rummage around for something, then a simple Click followed by a Rip

Unsure of what was going on Kin peered over her shoulder seeing the stranger hold out a scrap sheet of paper with a few numbers for measurments. Taking the paper her eyes scanned over the so few letters. Taking in a deep breath the girl continued to smile.

"I understand Mr. Macfarkland, that you're a busy man. I myself am very busy, I still have to finish the laundary, hang it to dry, set up dinner, make all the beds in the house, and many other things. I don't like having to go back and redo things and its seems you have left out quite a few numbers. I also trust no ones measurements but my own, so if you exsuce me," during this entire speech the smaller girl and gotten closer and closer to the man, until she was pratically attached to his chest.

In a nearly invisible movement, the girl had a entire roll of measuring tape safly wrapped around the man's adam apple, with a tug she stood on tip toes to examin the number.

"hmmm...." she jolted down the number. "What kind of deal?"

  • With easy patience, Cole waited for her to turn around. With a look of surprise, she did so, and accepted the small piece of paper he had scrawled down his measurements on. After going to the clothing stores back in London, and getting fitted at least a half dozen times, he had decided to simply jot the measurements down himself and hand them over instead of wasting time.

To his surprise, she was the least bit thankful for his handy endeavor. Calmly, he blinked and stared at her in silence as she began to explain, as gently as she could, that she was quite busy herself with the many chores a housemaid had. He was about to open his mouth, motion toward the note he had given her, and state that she should have everything she needed there, so that the two of them could get back to their own business. However, she continued before he could say anything, stating that she trusted no ones measurements but her own.

And then the measuring tape was skillfully fitted to his neck, causing his eyes to widen slightly in mild alarm. It took him a moment, during which he stared down at her as she tried to lift herself up on her tip-toes so that she could get high enough to read the number on the tape. He paid no heed to her job and instead threw his head back as a deep rumble of laughter escaped his throat.

“By all means then,” he replied after a moment, glancing back down at her with obvious amusement. “Measure away.”

Miss Kin jotted the measurement down, luckily able to read it before he had thrown his head back and laughed, messing up the measurement in the process. Then she asked, “What kind of deal?”

He could see that she was curious, and that was why she was pushing the matter. Perhaps, he thought to himself, that was why she had insisted on doing the measurements herself and thus keeping him longer for questioning. The teasing side came out of him and he gazed at her lazily behind half-lidded eyes. “I am not usually one to give away information for free,” he told her lightly. “What shall you give me in return?”

Lucky enough she had been able to read the number before Cole had so rudely thrown back his head and laughed at what she could only suppose to be her. What was so funny? That she was so short she had to stand on tip toes to get anywhere even near his neck? Or maybe it was the situation at hand? That situation being a complete stranger running their hands all over the others body trying to get correct measurements. Kin had the sudden earge to roll her eyes at the man if he was going to be so imature about it. However she did not, seeing that would be rude.

Still standing on her tip toes Kin stared down at the tape wrapped so finely around his neck, the thought of pulling tightly came to mind, but again she pushed this idea to the side. Just about to lower herself back down, Kin swore she could have heard some sarcastic if not flirtatious remark on his part.

On second thought, maybe she needed to tighten the tape again, after all one can never be too careful.

Suddenly feeling a bit uncomfortable being so close to this man that she barley knew, Kin quickly moved behind him. Sturdy hands clamping down onto Cole's arms she muttered "Don't move," she wanted to get this done as quickly as possible.

Taking the tape once again Kin began at the middle of the upper back, Measureing the length from the middle of his upper back to the stitching located at the shoulder of the mans shirt. Taking that Vaule she measured the length from the top stitching on his shoulder to the bottom of his wrist.Being careful not to measure too high above the wrist, knowing the shirt's sleeves would come out to be too short.

Still curiosity was taking the better of her so once adding the two vaules together Kin did something she had never done before. Placing both hands on the mans upper back she gently leaned into him so close that the only thing seperating the two was the thin layer of clothing between them.

"I'll tell you a secret.." was all she said her voice soft, warm, and inviting.

(( XDDD *dies of laughing* ))

  • Miss Kin ignored him, which wasn’t very surprising. Although, he would of liked a better reaction. Perhaps a dainty little blush or a stutter of words. With wry amusement, Cole noted he got nothing of the kind. The room fell in a heavy silence and he got the feeling that she was annoyed with him, which only heightened his amusement and tugged his smile even higher.

He thought of pushing the matter, as she had pushed on his dealings with the Mayor. Reach out and perhaps lightly trace his fingers down her cheek, lean a little closer until they were eye to eye. In the end he decided against it, knowing that she was not the type of woman he usually gave favors to and, more importantly, she appeared to have a good relationship with the Mayor and he couldn’t jeopardize that. The last thing he wanted was some tiny girl running to the Mayor in annoyance or fear, telling Mr. Thomas that he was trying to seduce her.

Cole lifted his arm and pulled up the sleeve of his jacket, checking his gold wristwatch for the time and noting that he had spent far more time here than he had originally planned. The slightest hint of impatience crowded in his chest but he kept it down, staring emotionlessly in front of him as he let the maid continue her exact measurements of his person.

That was, until the touch became a little personal. Immediately Cole stiffened when he felt the palm of her hands slide up to the top of his back. His eyes narrowed thereafter, feeling her body mold against his own. So, he thought to himself, perhaps she was the type of woman after all.

“I’ll tell you a secret..,” she whispered against him, inviting him to what he had asked for earlier, in exchange for his dealings with Mr. Thomas. His knowing smile came back as he turned around and took both of her hands hostage in his own.

“Will you now?” He laughed huskily. Leaning forward, his cool lips brushed experimentally over hers in a light kiss. His hands moved from hers and traveled up her arms until they came into contact with her shoulders, smoothing over them to grip her neck and pull her closer, as he deepened the kiss. “I look forward to it,” he murmured against her lips, a wicked glint brightening his eyes as he lifted his head the merest of a fraction to stare into hers. And then he bent his head once more, with every intention of kissing her again.

    (( >.>; Wow. He's uh... *laughs* XD; Terrible! ))

Totally completly utterly frozen to death. That pretty much summed up the situation in a few words. What? It was like her body had completly stopped working on its own and no matter how many times she tried to reboot and restart it, her body simply refused to do anything she wanted. Were her brain waves not reaching her nerves? Was she even thinking? No, she had to be thinking. After all she was thinking right now, wasn't she?

The first kiss has been light, soft, almost like a peck. It was that, that sent the young Maid into complete shock. The man had suscessfully stopped all messages coming in and going out of her brain. At the moment she was lifeless almost like a doll. A doll that would not do anything if he all the suddenly took her to the bed and have his way with her.

Unable to do or say anything, Kin watched in pure horror as Cole brought her closer, a hand running up her arm causing goosebumps to form in his tracks. As if my magic her eyes fallowed the trail his hand was making all over her body then stopping right on her neck. Urgently blinking at the man hopping he would take it as a sign to stop whatever he was doing.

He did not.

As if the first kiss hadn't been tramatizing enough, all of the sudden it was like a great force, pulling her forward only to meet up with this strangers lips yet again. This time it was different, this time he was hungry for her. Finally alarms began to go off and Kin's arms shot up trying her best to fight off against the advancing man, it was no use. He was too powerful.

Finally the kiss, if you could call that a kiss, was over and Kin taking the upper hand of the situation bounced back into the saftey of her bed.

"Wha?! Wha! I was going to tell you my Birthday! What is wrong with you!?"

  • For someone who had invited him to play, she was no more responsive than a block of ice. His lips were warm and inviting as he continued and yet, no matter how much he urged her to cooperate, she simply stood there as stiff as a board with her mouth clamped shut. Finally, with a sigh of slight annoyance, he stepped back just enough to give her some room.

Apparently, that was all Miss Kin needed because she wasted no time in scurrying over to her bed in a desperate attempt to get as much space as she could between them. It wasn’t until she turned around to face him that he finally got a glimpse of the panic that was etched across his face, and the realization that came along with it nearly made him groan out loud.

Instead, he once again lifted his hand up to the bridge of his noise and pinched hard. It was obvious that he had let himself get carried away. When he had first stepped into the room--no, he shouldn’t of stepped into the room in the first place. Cole glanced up after he removed his hand, and gazed back over toward the maid as she sat on her bed looking enraged, embarrassed, and afraid all at once.

He couldn’t help but feel a bit amused, especially since she had been the one to jump into the game in the first place. Obviously, she had thought to tease him and her plan had backfired. Miss Kim had no idea the man she had been messing with, or how dirty he really was. Old memories flashed through his mind, that same black-haired young woman invading his thoughts and quickly he banished them

“That’s the sort of favor I was talking about, Miss Kin,” he finally told her calmly, seemingly completely unmoved by the things that had just transpired between them. “I believe I should take my leave, however, for I have seemed to upset you.”

Try hard not to scream, try hard not to scream bloody murder! Kin clutched blindly at the large pillow laying at the top of her bed and brought it in front oh her, hoping to use it as some kind of shield to further distance herself, from this man. What was he thinking? Just who did he think he was? Coming onto her like he owned her. But wait, the more important question would be just 'who did he think she was?'

Did he find her the lonely type of women who would just lay with anyone who presented to her? The thought only caused the girl to blush deeper, hugging the rather large pillow close to herself it wasn't hard to tell that she was shaken by the whole experience. It wasn't fair! It just wasn't fair! For a man to take a women's kiss, it wasn't right. She wanted him to leave, Kin wanted this stranger out of her sight.

No, that wouldn't be good enough, she wanted him out of this house, and off of this island. Men in business suits were never good news. And with the Mayor, being the kind soul that he was, Kin could only wonder what had happened behind those closed doors.

When he spoke, the women dared not look at him, instead she seemed to take interest in the age old rug adorning her room. Finally it was her turn to act, slowly standing up the maid still held the pillow close using it almost as a safety net. Reaching over and picking up the numbers she took a final glance over the man, he didn't look to hard to fit.

"I think thats best, I'll have this done in a matter of days. I'll trust your measurements..." not a single glance to him as she headed towards the door and held it open giving him the signal to leave.

"Have a good day Sir"

  • Cole had to wonder, if only for the barest of a moment, what was going through the young girl's mind. Miss Kin was avoiding eye contact with him, seemingly fascinated by the faded white rug beneath his feet. That caused him to lightly chuckle despite himself, his lips rising up into a cool smile.

Deciding that it was best to leave, and wondering why the hell she had closed the door, Cole turned on his heel and started toward it. This woman, he would soon learn, would never cease to amaze him for at that very second she came bounding around him, pillow clutched tightly to her he might add, and briskly opened the door up. Servicing him, he thought with a blank stare. Furious and shaken as she may be, it seemed that her duty as Mr. Thomas' maid came first and foremost above everything else.

"Have a good day Sir," she bid him coolly and he gave her a mock bow at the waist.

"Oh, Mr. MacFallen," The Mayor's cheery voice broke through the silence which ensued, and Cole jerked his gaze up to the short man, eyebrows raised high in questioning. "I was just about to ask Miss Kin if you had already taken your leave, and I am quite happy to see you have not."

"I was just about to bid Miss Kin farewell," he answered smoothly, glancing over at Kin with a lazy smile meant to further her displeasure. Although he gave her no time to react, as he immediately turned his attention back to the Mayor and became serious. "What is it you wished to discuss with me?"

"To inquire whether or not you have a place to stay, Mr. MacFallen?"

"No," Cole answered, looking genuinely surprised, "I do not."

"Splendid!" Mr. Thomas exclaimed, his face bright with excitement. Cole smiled to himself, seeing how the meaning of his words and the way he had said them contrasted on ridiculous levels. Although, he already knew the offer before the Mayor turned toward Miss Kin and took her hands in his.

"My dear," he ushered enthusiastically. "Please get a room ready for Mr. MacFallen for he will be staying here during his stay in Obsidian. I will have nothing less! Why, this is a splendid turn of events don't you agree? The two of you can further discuss the events that will be taking place on the evening of the ball. Quite convenient for the two of you, if I say so myself."

Cole lifted a fisted hand up to his mouth and let out a loud cough that sounded suspiciously like a laugh, his deep blue eyes lighting up as they roamed over the petite dark blond. "Quite convenient," he replied once he recovered. "I thank you, Mr. Thomas."

And once again the Mayor bounded down the hallway, toward the stairs, humming a catchy tune.

Okay, just a few more seconds until this horrid person is gone, then you can scream and fall completely apart. Over and over this one single thought ran through her brain, repeating itself again and again until it became like soft music in the background of a elevator. The type where you know its there, but it kinda just fades away until you don't even realize its there anymore. This sentence became a chant, almost like a spell being whispered only to herself, as if these few words would suddenly make the man vanish into a POOF of smoke. Gone. Vanished. Never to be seen again.

Kin continued to stand in the entranceway of her room, holding the door open like a doorman who worked at one of those fancy hotels. Honestly, was it so hard to open a door? Still she stood there, not moving a single inch of her body, breath held Kin dared not to glance up for a moment. It was a trap, if she looked up her eyes would be snapped and trapped in the spiders web, tangled and unable to escape its fatal fate.

Why wouldn't he just leave? Hadn't she made it perfectly clear, she did not want him in her company any longer? That and she would no longer require his measurements, Blaise was about his height? Yes no? Oh it didn't matter if the costume didn't fit Kin could simply complain the man had gained weight. Finally movement!

Watching out of the corner of her eye, the man gave a rather theatrical bow, and just as he was leaving and Kin about to slam the door behind him. Who else, but the Mayor arrived at her doorway. Oh, this could only get better and better.

"Ohoho!" giving a rather nervous laugh the maid backed away hoping to find comfort behind her door, and somehow shut the door, without seeming rude. "But, you already bid me goodbye, my kind Sir." With a smile as bright as a rainbow and daises she began to slowly inch the door shut only to stop fast in her tracks.

Place....to stay? Oh boy, this was not good. "B-but, Mayor Thomas, do we have enough rooms? With the other maids and everyone, won't the House be a bit...." she strained to get the words out, as if coming up with an excuse, to get Cole out of the Estate was the most painful thing she'd ever done. "Cramped?"

Still there was not stopping the Mayor when he had his mind set on something. Seeing that he would hear none of her pitiful attempts of excuses the maid nodded.

"Oh! What a splendid idea, now that I think about it, we'll have plenty of time to make this the best Halloween ever!" She continued to smile a smile which could only be described as so sweet it would give one a mouthful of cavities.

What was she so nervous about? Kin had dealt with far worse people then this person before. And when life gave you lemons, one had to make lemonade.

"Fallow me sir, you room is this way," and again she began to lead the way to yet another bedroom. While passing Blaise's room Kin made a mental note to sleep in his room for the remaining time Cole would be with them.
