What kind of role play do you prefer to read or write? Trash talking shoot style? 1st person narratives ? Screenplay? There are a few different styles in which you can choose from. All of which have their own benefits. What one do you prefer reading as opposed to writing?

I prefer the straight forward shoot, possibly with an interviewer in their to spice things up. Similar to old school promos with Macho Man or Hulk Hogan when Mean Gene would ask the questions. It doesn't always have to be mean or trash talking, sometimes it's just self hyping, or putting over an opponent, or expressing opinions on things. It's essentially the most "wrestling" style promo we can write as fake wrestlers.
Not to say I don't appreciate good behind the scenes rps, like a couple on a date, family issues, hi-jacking a helicopter, a fun trip to Chuck E Cheese. I just like old school face to camera style shoots over most other things.

Agree with Romeo! It was how I wrote too and I think it is the best way to get feuds flowing. I have seen people write and its all about what they are thinking rather than what they are saying and I just don't see the point. How are you mean't to use that in your rp against someone.
Ps fuck you all for putting Ericsson into the hall of fame and not me! Fuck you all

yeah, my ideal promo is "something i could conceivably see on a wrestling tv show." people who are just serializing their novels make me not read their promos.
sometimes when i'm facing them.

Wow, so I'm gonna be the guy to break the trend. Cool.
Let me start by saying I love a good shoot. Trash talking, whether you're good at it or not, is the core of this little game. But to me, and no offense to anybody, if that's all you do, it's one dimensional in my eyes. If that's all a person does, you know what to expect from that person every single time and while the shoots can be consistently good, I tend to get bored, whether I'm reading or writing that way. I like depth to a character. This isn't WWE. This isn't TNA. This isn't anything you see on TV. Yes, we got into this game because we enjoy/enjoyed wrestling. But we also enjoy writing and writing is at the forefront of this game. Doing just shoots doesn't add much depth to the character in my opinion. Sometimes, there are exceptions, but overall, it just doesn't work that way to me.
Why is the character the way they are? What drives them? Why are they even in this business? Every single character is unique. To just do nothing but shoots is a bit unimaginative in my eyes. Again, no offense. Anybody can talk shit. But if you can talk shit and completely flesh out a character with some character development, then you got something there. Limiting yourself to 'what would be on TV' is a bit constricting. No offense, Purity. That's just how I feel about it. The wrestlers on TV are fleshed out in their own way, a very different way from what we do. Look at it this way. Each week, wrestlers come out, they cut their promos, matches are fought, shenanigans happen, somebody gains the advantage, show over. And while some wrestlers flourish with that formula, some don't. Some grow stale and fall into a trap of mediocrity. The same thing can happen to writers in an e-fed. Some flourish with the very formula I just listed. Others don't and grow as stale and boring as the wrestlers on TV.
That's just my opinion though. Our job is to inject life into these characters. The ones on TV are already full of life. That's a big difference in my eyes.

my issue with your post, stone:
it's written as if 99% of the people who write crazy shit into their promos make it as entertaining as yours do, and BOY IS THAT NOT THE CASE

Some peoples I've read that are like Stone's, are entertaining, but usually those are the ones that have shorter amounts of character development.
8000+ words of character development and backstory of a character for every RP though like I've seen with some e-fedders out there, just because they're going for word count and attempting to drown their opponents?
GTFO and write some novels that you can get published.

yeah that's the shit i mean when i say "people serializing their novels." 5,000 words on the character's past growing up on the farm, then two sentences about "oh, and i have a match with dorkus o'dingus on saturday."

Oh wait, that's Santino Marella.

I guess I should have clarified it. If somebody is actually writing 8,000, 9,000, 10,000+ words of just CD, then yeah, that's a problem. But to me, as my writing suggests, there should be a balance. Does everybody have to write to appease me? No. Take Romeo for example. Week in and week out, nothing but shoots. He excels at them and somehow, he makes himself one of the exceptions that I mentioned in my previous post. Do I get bored occasionally with his style? Yes, but that's because I'd like to believe that there is more to the character then just wrestling.
And then he does try his hand at CD and I'm like 'oh noes, go back to shoots'. Lulz j/k.

Do I get bored occasionally with his style? Yes, but that's because I'd like to believe that there is more to the character then just wrestling. Yeah there isn't. Romeo is essentially a wrestler. I mean he's also a nice guy, a bit of a worry-wart, but at the end of the day, he's a wrestler. He's not a farmer who turned wrestler, (though he did sorta grow up in the middle of nowhere) and he's not a bounty hunter who turned wrestler, or a rapist turned wrestler, or an airline pilot turned wrestler, or a drug addict turned wrestler... he's just some guy who was nobody until he found wrestling...
That said, I still think our win/loss rate between one another favors me inferior Chris.
Sincerely, superior Chris.
P.S. I appreciate CD rps as well (Like most of Kerryn Kali's rps)

Don't worry, I'll do my best to win the next meeting so we can re-establish the rhythm.

Does that mean after that Hyde/Stone victory that Romeo will then win 3 in a row?
