Just a little heads-up about character. He was born and raised in Northern Ireland so there will be a thick Irish accent with slang and plenty of improper spelling. Keep that in mind when your reading my Roleplay's.
I will more than likely have to post some sort of Translation thread so you can get the gist on the language and what some of the terms may mean in "proper" English, lol

What is the realisim of a man from Northern Ireland who speaks proper English? Doesn't that play on my skill as a writer to make it as real as it gets? Where's the fun in staying inside the box?

That could be construed as saying that NEWEra's resident Dragon is unrealistic for not unleashing his full brogue all the time...would be a shame if he...heard that.

a writer's skill is dependent upon his ability to entertain the reader, not be as special a snowflake as possible. incorporating thick accents and slang to the point where you need an accompanying phrasebook does nothing but shatter your ability to engage with anyone and force the reader out of your creation again and again
for an example, read S.M. Stirling's Dies the Fire trilogy. he has many good ideas and fucking ruins all of them by being a seriously twee piece of shit

Have you ever seen the movie Snatch? Brad Pitt plays an irish traveler by the name of Mickey. Watch that and tell me thick Irish accents aren't entertaining.

Watch that and tell me thick Irish accents aren't entertaining. if you can't grasp the necessary differences in presentation between an audiovisual medium and an entirely text-based medium then i don't know what to tell you

Relax everyone. You're all free to write how you wish. If you want to make up your own language and write your roleplays in it, who are we to stop you?

Ryan has RPed with a southern stable for years in CPW and sold the shit out of it, very well. Tombstone has a lot of his dialogue in German, but he also makes sure to translate most of it and does it in a style that's very clear.
The problem is that you're going to have to do it well, to do it at all. So here's hoping.
