Robbie Priest stands in the den of his Manhattan apartment, his wife, Alexi Priest sits on the couch with her arm crutches ready to go.
Robbie Priest: Are you sure you're up to this, Love?
Alexi nods.
Alexi Priest: I'm sure I am. Don't worry sweetie.
Robbie nods. It really wasn't that far between buildings and normally this wouldn't even be a concern at all but Alexi was not back to normal yet and thus, even a small walk was now a monumental undertaking for her. She was still using the arm crutches and probably would be for a little bit yet.
Robbie Priest: Will this count as your walk, then?
Alexi Priest: Yeah, I guess it will.
He nods and kisses her.
Robbie Priest: Your mother seems to love getting to spend so much time with the girls. She and Angel are quite the team, I've found.
Alexi Priest: That they are. But then again, Mum raised me, alone.
Robbie smiles.
Robbie Priest: That she did. So, shall we make for the lift then?
Alexi nods.
Alexi Priest: Yeah, let's do this.
Robbie Priest: Do you think we'll require a lorry or do you wish to try and walk the distance yourself?
Alexi laughs a little.
Alexi Priest: I think I can manage it.
Robbie stands up and points to the door.
Robbie Priest: Alrighty then, to the lift, Supergirl!!!
She starts walking to the lift.
Alexi Priest: Supergirl? Damn, that's a new one.
Robbie smiles as they walk through the door into the hallway towards the elevator in their building, taking care to lock their door behind them.
Robbie Priest: Lex, a couple of months ago, you couldn't do anything but lie there. Now, you're walking to the lift almost like nothing happened. You ARE bloody Supergirl!
Alexi offers him a smile.
Alexi Priest: I guess I am.
They step into the elevator and press the button to go down to the street.
Robbie Priest: Keep this up and you'll be ready to start training like you're going back to work again.
Alexi Priest: Would that be a bad thing?
Robbie shakes his head as the elevator comes to a stop and the doors open.
Robbie Priest: No Ma'am, although the guy I'm fighting at the next show would disagree. He told Michael Serrano last week that he was a bad person because he... let... Misty get in the ring.
Alexi Priest: He thinks women shouldn't be in the ring?
Robbie Priest: Bloody well sounded like it.
Alexi Priest: Sexist bastard...
Robbie nods as they walk out onto the street.
Robbie Priest: Mister Leon LaBomb seems to think the very idea of a woman as World Champion is laughable and therefore women shouldn't bother and the men who “let” them try are horrible pieces of trash for doing so.
Alexi scowls.
Alexi Priest: Once I am well again I'll show him just how laughable I am.
Robbie Priest: And I'm sure he would say I was a right evil git for letting you try, especially given what happened with Disturbed.
Alexi Priest: Let him think that all he wants, I don't give a rat's ass what he thinks.
Robbie laughs.
Robbie Priest: That's my girl! If he's like last show, he'll tell me trying to be of service to other's is a weakness as well. He actually told Michael that being willing to help people like your cousin and her family was a sign of weakness.
Alexi Priest: Seriously? Damn this guys is delusional.
Robbie nods again.
Robbie Priest: According to Leon there, doing what we are doing today is a waste of time and shows we are weak people who do not deserve respect of any kind. In short, we are losers for giving a damn.
Alexi Priest: Heartless bastard...
Robbie shrugs as they continue on down the street.
Robbie Priest: He'd have probably called my Germany trip bloody pointless too.
Alexi Priest: No doubt.
Robbie Priest: Elias says hello, by the way, and he was bloody impressed by your recovery.
Alexi Priest: Well I'm nothing if not a fighter. He should know that.
He nods.
Robbie Priest: He does, still expressed his respect.
Alexi Priest: Well, tell him thank you and hello back.
Robbie nods, his smile still firmly implanted on his face. It was a wonderful thing, walking with his wife again even if she needed the metallic assistance.
Robbie Priest: He'd have been bloody gobsmacked on Sunday though. Legion...and James Stall...
Alexi notices this smile and smiles herself.
Alexi Priest: Yeah, I bet he would have been.
Robbie just shakes his head.
Robbie Priest: Of all people, James Stall?
Alexi Priest: Yeah, what's up with that?
Robbie shakes his head.
Robbie Priest: I'm not entirely certain other than he doesn't seem to like that the big group of bullies isn't his the way it was a year ago, even if that group was only informal and didn't really last much.
Alexi Priest: Aahh I see... can we trust him?
Robbie shrugs.
Robbie Priest: Not certain what his intentions are.
Alexi Priest: Guess they will show in due time.
Robbie nods solemnly. What WERE James Stall's intentions? Were they as arrogant and self-serving as he always was or had he actually turned over a new leaf this time?
Robbie Priest: Dragon did not appear to be pleased with the idea at the time either.
Alexi Priest: Yeah, I can imagine he wouldn't be.
Robbie Priest: I'm not saying I was seeing rainbows and sunshine about it but Dragon looked like he wanted to spit fire and burn the place down for a moment.
Alexi Priest: Well, he's not called the Dragon for nothing... and I can't say I'm overly pleased either.
Robbie Priest: Oh?
Alexi Priest: This is the guy who let Kerryn hire him, remember?
Robbie nods.
Robbie Priest: I remember. Jeszika Gautier did the same.
Alexi Priest: This is true, but she has proven herself to be a good friend to Jenni. One who needs an eye kept on her maybe... but it's more than Stall's done in redemption.
Robbie nods.
Robbie Priest: True, I'm not sure the man knows what redemption is.
Alexi Priest: How long till he screws us over and goes back to his old ways?
Robbie shrugs. This was the question burning a hole in his mind too.
Robbie Priest: I suppose we'll just have to wait and hope.
Alexi Priest: I guess so.
Robbie stops walking as they near the door to their destination.
Robbie Priest: Are you ok? You're not worried about what we're gonna find up there, are you?
Alexi sighs.
Alexi Priest: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried...
Robbie nods. He knew the feeling rather well.
Robbie Priest: Who are you most worried for?
Alexi Priest: Kelly, she's newest to this and she acts more rashly. Alissa'a done this before, she knows limits.
Robbie nods.
Robbie Priest: Makes you wonder, really. With Jenni home now, has she seen? And if she has...
He trails off, honestly wondering himself what that would mean for everyone involved.
Alexi Priest: Things could be really bad couldn't they? I can't see Jenni taking that well, not after everything else.
Robbie Priest: At least Li and Z decided to go in.
Alexi Priest: Yeah, that's something.
Robbie opens the door, holding it for his wife as he makes her way inside. They walk to the elevator in this building and ride it up to the proper floor. As they step off, they both look at the door behind which, currently resides all of their fears.
Robbie Priest: Are we ready to knock on this one, then?
Alexi Priest: as ready as I'll ever be.
She reaches forward and knocks on the door. It opens almost immediately, Jackson Shane nodding them inside. Alexi hobbles forward, Robbie right behind as Jackson closes the door behind them. The three of them move into the living room where they find Jenni Taylor. Jenni barely looks up as they enter. Her arm is in a cast and she looks like she's seen better days, tired, worn... broken.
Jenni Taylor: Hi...
This sight really pulls at Alexi's heartstrings. Gone was the happy bouncy Jenni they all knew and loved.
Alexi Priest: Hey, guys, how are you doing?
Jackson Shane: Alright, I guess.
Alexi Priest: Everything healing well?
Jackson nods.
Jackson Shane: As best as can be expected. I'm fine, her arm will be.
He pauses and then takes in the sight before.
Jackson Shane: You look... great. Did you walk here?
Alexi nods, looking proud.
Alexi Priest: That I did, on my own two feet... Well, the crutches too...
She looks at Jenni, sympathy in her eyes.
Alexi Priest: How's the concussion, Sweetie? Are you still getting headaches?
Jenni nods slightly.
Jenni Taylor: Yes.
Alexi moves over to take a seat next to Jenni, laying a hand on her arm.
Alexi Priest: They will pass in time.
As everyone sits there, Jenni's younger sister, Kelly Taylor comes walking in from upstairs for the first time since Jenni has returned home. She comes walking in, and calls out.
Kelly Taylor: Jenni? Are you home?
When Jenni doesn't respond, Alexi speaks up.
Alexi Priest: We're in here, Kelly.
Kelly comes walking, her arms folded across her stomach, looking like she might be sick yet also forcing a smile. She sniffs and then rubs her nose, allowing Jenni get a look at her sister.
Kelly Taylor: Hi!
Jenni's eyes go wide as she takes in the sight of her sister and immediately, Jenni stands up. Stone-faced, she starts walking to the kitchen. Horror fills Alexi's face as she see's Jenni emotionlessly open the knife drawer. She tries to stand up but fails.
Alexi Priest: Uh Oh.... Jenni! Jenni Stop!
Jackson rushes into the kitchen as Kelly takes a step back.
Jackson Shane: Jenni...
Robbie moves in quickly as well, the two of them moving Jenni back from the drawer. Jenni tries to fight them off trying her hardest to get back to the knife drawer. She had to end this, and this was the only way she could see her pain ending.
Jenni Taylor: NO! I have to! I have to!
She starts crying, sobs rocking her body as she collapses in their arms.
Jenni Taylor: I have to!
Kelly just stands there, frozen.
Kelly Taylor: Jenni?
She looks down at her arms and gasps.
Kelly Taylor: Oh no... oh God, it's my fault... oh my God, Jenni.. please, no!
Alexi see's it too, the needle track marks all down Kelly's arms.
Alexi Priest: its not your fault Kelly... Alexi looks over at them in the kitchen, at the broken woman in Jackson and Robbie's arms, tears streaming down her face, her arms still weakly reaching out for the knifes.
Alexi Priest: None of this is your fault Kelly.
Kelly takes a small step towards her sister and then watches as Jenni gives up and allows herself to be moved away from the knife drawer. Kelly bursts into tears and races up the hallway to her bedroom, slamming the door shut. Just as she leaves, Alissa Lacroix comes walking in the front door. She stops at the mouth of the room, taking in the scene.
Alissa Lacroix: What the... ?
Jenni manages to look and sees a couple of marks on Alissa's arm too. This only makes her cry harder.
Alissa Lacroix: Where?
Alexi manages to point up the hallway and Alissa rushes after Kelly. Robbie and Jackson carry Jenni back into the living room and get her to the couch.
Jackson Shane: We're here, Jenni... we're here...
Robbie Priest: It's going to be alright, Lass...
Jenni Taylor: No it's not! Nothing's alright! Nothing!
She screams through her tears.
Jenni Taylor: Nothing's been alright since he came into my life...
Jackson holds her close and Robbie nods sympathetically.
Robbie Priest: I know, Lass... but it will be. Look at Alexi. She was supposed to be dead a couple of months ago and yet, she was able to hold our baby for Christmas. She walked to your apartment today from ours. Li and Z have gone to rehab to help themselves as well. Things get better...
Jackson nods his agreement.
Jackson Shane: Think of what all we've been through before he got here. You had to be a mother before you were old enough to drink. You had to do God knows what to make ends meet and you did it. Kelly made it too.
Jenni Taylor: A good mother I've been though... Look at her Jackson! Look at me! I'm a failure!
She shakes her head.
Jenni Taylor: All of this is my fault... I let him inject her! I let him rape me! I let him do all of it!
Alexi speaks to her in a soothing voice.
Alexi Priest: Jenni... You didn't, no one is to blame for this except Kerryn. I promise you, we will help you fix this but Jenni... You have to let us...
Jenni Taylor: But I failed her! What more do I have to live for when I can't even look after my sister, or myself?
Before anyone else can say anything, Alissa and Kelly come back into the room.
Kelly Taylor: Jenni?
She looks at her big sister and just starts crying.
Kelly Taylor: I'm sorry...
Holding onto Alissa, Kelly let's her head droop slightly before breaking away and rushing to her sister.
Kelly Taylor: Please don't leave me! PLEASE!!! I'm sorry I did it... I'm sorry, please....
Jenni hesitates a little before she takes Kelly into her arms, she can't speak for a while as tears fall down her face. After several minutes she looks up at Kelly her eyes brimming.
Jenni Taylor: I'm sorry, Kelly... I'm so sorry....
Kelly hugs her.
Kelly Taylor: I love you... you didn't do anything wrong, Jenni. You were a great Mum and you're a great sister!
Alissa allows her head to fall down in shame.
Alissa Lacroix: I'm sorry I gave her any...
Robbie stands up and hugs her.
Robbie Priest: Lis... don't beat yourself up, Lass...
Alexi Priest: This is no one in this room's fault... but we don't need to point fingers now...
She looks at the three other girls present.
Alexi Priest: Right now, we need to work on making everything better.
Alissa Lacroix: Like Li and Z?
Alexi nods.
Alexi Priest: Like Li and Z.
Jenni Taylor: But I don't need help like them...?
Robbie turns to face her, still holding on to Alissa.
Robbie Priest: No, but can you say you don't need SOME kind of help?
Jenni Taylor: I.. I think so...
Jackson Shane: You think you do need help or you think you don't?
Jenni Taylor: I... I do...I really do... She drops her head as a tear falls down her face.
Alissa kneels next to Kelly in front of Jenni.
Alissa Lacroix: Kels... so do we...
Kelly nods slowly.
Kelly Taylor: I'll go if you will...
Alexi Priest: Li and Z will be pleased....
Alexi looks over at Robbie.
Alexi Priest: Is there anywhere Jenni can get help? Somewhere that's not the psyche ward cause I will not send her somewhere like that.
Robbie nods.
Robbie Priest: Yeah, somehow Bellevue doesn't seem like a bloody wonderful idea.
Kelly looks up.
Kelly Taylor: Loti...
Alexi nods.
Alexi Priest: She'd know where we could go.
Alissa reaches into her pocket and pulls out her key.
Alissa Lacroix: We're gonna need somebody to come upstairs and help us get rid of the stashes... and somebody to watch Lucy for me...
Robbie nods.
Robbie Priest: We'll call Misty and Loti and get them to come over to help with that.
Alexi nods.
Alexi Priest: Good idea.
Alissa nods.
Alissa Lacroix: Ok... then I'll go.
Kelly nods as well.
Kelly Taylor: Me too...
Alexi Priest: I'm proud of you girls... all of you.
As the girls hug, Robbie gets on the phone.
Robbie Priest: Misty?
He nods as she asks the natural question.
Robbie Priest: Yes.
He nods again.
Robbie Priest: Jackson's... right, straight away then?
He nods happily at the response.
Robbie Priest: See you here, then.
He hangs up and nods, knowing that soon enough, he'll get to focus on Leon LaBomb and that, odds are, that won't be a bloody picnic either.
