Las Vegas.

Not the strip or anything. Nothing anywhere near that nice. Instead this is just some side street. Some run down old spot that doesn't show up in any of the big Hollywood movies about Vegas. It's just some dive in the slums, and this is where Blade Alexander emerges.

Dressed in faded jeans and a worn leather jacket he steps out from the heavy metal front door to the building before slumping to the concrete steps. After several moments of fishing around in his pockets he pulls out a mostly empty pack of cigarettes and taps one out before shoving the pack back in his pockets.

The trick is rolling your own. Roll 'em and stick them in the same pack. It's cheaper.

He fishes around in his pockets again for another moment before he produces his lighter and sparks up the smoke. He takes a long drag and looks at the cigarette ponderously while he blows the smoke out.

So you're from NEWera right? And you've come to check up on one of the new guys. No pun intended.

Must be my lucky day.

He shoots a gin at the camera.

So as the new guy I get the job of riling up the crowd in a dark match before the show goes on. Get them going, right? Ready for the show?

Like New Yorkers really need to be warmed up. Hammerstein Ballroom. It's one of the most famous wrestling arenas in North America after a bunch of crazy guys with nothing to lose tore the roof off the place on a regular basis back in the 90's. Really it's just an excuse for a bunch of lazy hate-filled New Yorkers to explore their bloodlust by watching other people beat one another's heads in.

Good news losers, I'm the guy you're looking for. See you all wanna think so highly of yourself like your city is the greatest and you come up with that saying about making it there, but really it's not so hard cause there's so many great people in New York, it's that everyone sucks. You're all just a bunch of vicious animals just waiting for the chance to stab your best friends in the back so you can step over the corpse to take what's yours.

Looks like we got something in common.

He grins that twisted grin again before taking another long slow puff off his cigarette.

I'm not someone who got into wrestling because I was a great athlete or I wanted to make friends or further my career. I saw what my dad did night in and night out and while he'd try to feed me lines about human chess and all that but what it came down to was a legal way to punch people you hate in the face. People you hate or strangers. I'm not picky either way.

He has another pull from his cigarette and blows the smoke out in rings.

So now we're going to start it all off like this. Three way. First you got this guy, this Ben Jackson. He's a stranger if there ever was one. I asked around and no one even knows the guy. No idea where he came from, where he's going... He's just this dude who showed up one day with a contract. If I didn't know any better I'd think it was pretty damned easy to just walk off the street and get a job here. Thing about him though is I don't like his face. He walks around all the time, smile on his face. That drives me nuts.

He looks at his burning cigarette, but instead of smoking the rest he just flings it out into the street.

Then there's Owen Martin and I can't begin to tell you how much I hate this kind of guy. This guy who just falls back on wrestling. He's the big football star, which is a joke, the he gets hurt once and he decides it's time to quit and move on to pro-wrestling like it's safer.

Bottom line though is your a quitter Martin. And you're not even the good kind of quitter. You don't quite because you fail over and over. You don't quit cause you don't love it or anything. You quit cause you're scared of pain. That's pathetic. Man, look at you... You're a good athlete but you go into football because it's like the pee wee version of rugby. You figure it's safer. All those pads and stuff you probably wont get hurt. Then you do get hurt so you move into professional wrestling because you got that big football body and you think that's what it takes cause that's what was cool in the 80's. But this is NEWera, Martin, what do you really think it's going to feel like when I punch you in the head? How about when I wrap a steel chair around it.

This aint super pose down. This is take posers and bleed them out. That's what I'm gonna do. To me it's simple. It's like you two have something that's mine and I'm doing anything it takes to get it back. People have complained all my life that I got this chip on my shoulder like it's a bad thing, but it's how I get ahead. See Ben Jackson and Owen Martin, they got my money, and after I beat them Friday night in front of some blood thirsty New Yorkers I'm taking it back. I gotta list of everybody in this company and as far as I see it, they all owe me something and I'm coming to get it back the only way I ever really learned how. I' gonna fight them for it. I'm gonna fight each and every person put in my path. I don't care how and I don't care why, I'm just going to take it.

You'll see what I mean Friday.

He stands and looks around the steps for a minute and gives his pants a cursory brushing off before heading back inside.
