Jynx LeVeux
NEWera Rookie
[ * ]
Donavan Family Home
Asheville, NC

As the camera opens, we find Miss Jynx LeVeux sitting upon the living room couch, quite fidgety as she seems to be overly nervous about doing something. Her light, iced hues are darting back and forth to her cell phone sitting upon the coffee table before her. Sighing, she pushes herself to a stand and snatches her Galaxy S4 up off the table and unlocks the screen. Her feet begin to carry her to and fro across the carpet, carrying her up and down the length of the fairly large living room before she taps her screen a few times and holds the phone up to her ear. A few rings heard coming from the end of the phone before someone is heard picking up. A man with a deep booming yet boisterous voice and a thick Cajun accent.

???: "'Ello and bonjour! "Dis be Maurice's! Home to da best etouffe 'dis side 'o New Orleans! 'Dis be Maurice!"

Jynx LeVeux: "Hey papa! How are ya and how be da restaurant?"

She continued to pace as it seemed it was her father on the other side of the line. A smile broke across her face at the roar of her dad's voice, a soft sigh of relief at something, though, at this point, it was impossible to tell why.

Maurice LeVeux: "Well, well, well! If it ain't my babygirl! Been forever and a day since you be callin' me petite! Let me get to da office so I can be hearin' ya better! Ah, der we go! So, how da career goin'? I try and get what news I can, but you know how your mama is, do I be havin' some news on dat front, but dat be saved for later. I wanna 'ear all 'bout your title reign and dat man ya seem ta be datin'!"

It had seemed, despite not being able to follow constantly, he had gotten enough news about how she had been doing to know a general but limited bit about her current career. A smile began to form on her lips as she sat back down upon the couch and tucked her legs up under her frame. She leaned in her elbow, using the arm of the couch to support her as she switched the phone to her right hand and ear.

Jynx LeVeux: "Well, 'dat be part of da reason I be callin'. Though, if it be feasible, would ya be able to come up to Ashville for the weekend? I would much rather see ya and talk to ya in person. Though, I know mama may not like it, but she may be a little pleased about what I gotta say."

It seemed her mother was quite the sore subject with her for some reason as the smile she once bore for her father all but vanished at the mention of her mother. The loud laugh of her father could be heard on the other end of the phone as she said that and a rather shocked look came across her face.

Maurice LeVeux: "Nah, don't you worry about your mama none right now! I got someone who can run da restaurant for da weekend so I can come up and see ya! Besides, I wanna be meetin' dis man who has got mah daughters eye and heart and make sure he be worthy of keepin' it!"

Jynx LeVeux: "Well den, dat sound like it gonna be a good plan. I am surprisin' Eric wit 'dis since he been wantin' to meet ya anyways. Should I be getting tickets for you and mama?"

Maurice LeVeux: "Nah, it's be jus' me lil' one. Like I said, I got some news o' my own I wanna talk to you about and we can do dat dis weekend when we be seein' each other. How Oni be doin'?"

Jynx LeVeux: "Alrighty den and Oni been doin' jus' fine, papa. He got a lot bigger den we thought he would when ya got him for me as a puppy."

They both laugh heartily as a look of relief washed over her face when the fact her mother won't be coming is mentioned. She leans forward and picks up the tablet that was laying on the table and begins to type and tap on the screen as she seems to be starting to make the arrangements for her father to come up for the weekend. After scrolling a few more times, looking up and down the small screen, her voice breaks the silence.

Jynx LeVeux: "Alrighty papa, since you such a mornin' person, an early flight on Friday mornin'? Say, put you here 'bout eight o clock in da mornin'? I will come and meetcha at da airport and we come back here to surprise Eric?"

Maurice LeVeux: "Dat sound fine sugar. Listen, hate ta cut dis short, but it sound like a heap o' trouble in da kitchen, I need ta get back on da floor. Love ya kiddo an' see ya Friday!"

Jynx LeVeux: "Okay, papa. I will mail ya the receipt and details on da flight and see ya in da mornin' on Friday! Love ya too!"

She beamed brightly as she hung up the phone and set it down upon the table, a small, happy squeal coming from her as an excited little bounce accompanied her when she sat up to put down her cell phone. She stood up and looked to the tablet clutched in her hands and is seen exiting the living room, still tapping the screen as the camera fades to black.

Friday Morning
Asheville Regional Airport

Jynx had managed to quietly sneak out of the house early that morning and got her car out and on the road to pick up her father from the airport. She had arrived at the gate she was expecting him to arrive from about twenty minutes early to make sure she was there to greet him on time. It was still quite cold and damp due to the dreary drizzle hanging over in the air for the past few days, so she was in a pair of black suede slouch boots, form fitting, but rather comfortable dark denim jeans and a soft, fluffy black sweater with a thick, high collar Liam had picked out for her as a Christmas present so she was staying warm. She stood there, nervously chewing on her glossed lower lip, bouncing and traveling her weight from foot to foot as she tried to wait as patiently as possible for her father to arrive. Then, we see the plane pulling up to the terminal and the tunnel move to attach and soon enough, the passengers were disembarking. It was quite easy to see who her father was as a large, rotund man with a huge laugh, dark hair and beaming smile was seen coming out of the tunnel. One look when he saw his daughter and he dropped his carry on, catching her lithe frame easily as she pounced him and hugged him tightly.

Jynx LeVeux: "Papa! It is so wonderful to be seein' ya and thankfully wit out da sea witch wit' ya!"

Maurice LeVeux: "Yeah, well, da witch won't be comin' round no more, but we can discuss dat on da way to your place along with everything I wanna hear 'bout what be goin' on with you!"

He finally put her down and the made their way to baggage claim to get the suitcase he packed and made their way to her '67 Impala that was parked out in the airports main parking area and she opened up the trunk and got his bags inside. Closing it up, they were soon on the road back to hers and Eric's home. Pulling onto the highway, she looked over to her father with a somewhat worried look on her face before looking back to the road fully and starting to talk.

Jynx LeVeux: "Okay papa... What be goin' on? I am surprised mama let you talk to be earlier in da week let alone come up 'ere and see me, especially wit out her. What be goin' on?"

She had a look of worry cross her face, not for her, but for her father because she knew what her mother's wrath would be like at the end of this. He laughed hard and waved her off, his rotund belly bouncing like Santa Claus with the heartiness of the laugh the bellowed from him. He shook his head and patted her thigh in a reassured manner.

Maurice LeVeux: "That what i need to be talkin' to ya 'bout. Me and your mama done split. I left her 'bout six months ago when she tried to tell me she didn't want me talkin' to ya period no more. Dat was da last straw. I tolerated 'dat woman's churchin' as long as I could. Now, don't get me wrong, you know I am a God-fearin' man, but your mama still be livin' in da past with her prejudice and her hate o' anyone dat don't fit her perception o' normal. She never could understand ya and never tried and I am sorry I didn't do more. I shoulda done more, but dat witch was scary!"

She about hit the car in front of her and had to pull over to the shoulder and parked the car. She left the engine running as she turned to look at her father after he had hit her with the news. Now, most kids would have been upset about their parents getting a divorce, but Lyra was just beaming.

Jynx LeVeux: "Papa! I am so happy for ya! You know I had no love for dat woman after she kicked me out when I was fifteen. I know you fought for me ta stay, but dat woman was scary, we both knew it. She tried to change me and you were da one who kept tellin' her there was nothin' wrong wit' me. Papa, you did da best ya could wit what we had and even wit her puttin' you down, you got ya restaurant up and runnin and I am just as proud of ya."

They both leaned to the middle of the car's bench seat and hugged one another before settling back in and buckling up. She got the car back out into traffic easily enough and once again, had them on their way to her new home.

Maurice LeVeux: "Now, you need to be tellin' me whatcha been up to! I am sorry I ain't in da loop more, but between da divorce and runnin' da kitchen, I been pickin' up what I can from the guys in da kitchen who been watchin' ya shows."

Jynx LeVeux: "Well papa, I won a belt a couple of months back, the No Limits Championship and I still got da belt! It's basically the hardcore belt, one I gotta defend every show due to da rules attached to it, but ya know me, I love da challenge of it all and so far, I am keepin' up ta snuff and everyone seems to be right proud of what I been able to accomplish thus far. As for da man you know I be datin', well, dat be my big news. He proposed ta me on Christmas and I said yes, papa!"

The smile the crossed her fathers face couldn't have been any broader and brighter when he heard the news. He clapped and roared in praise.

Maurice LeVeux: "Dat wonderful news, petite! I am so glad ta 'ear ya finally found a man capable of treatin' ya proper and bein good ta ya! Ya last couple ain't been so spectacular. So is dat why ya brought me 'ere?"

She smiled with a nod as she pulled off the freeway and started to take the roads to where the house was up in the mountains just outside of Asheville proper.

Jynx LeVeux: "It sure be, papa, and I know he said he been wantin' to meetcha so I thought I would surprise him by bringin' ya here as I know you would wantin' to be meetin' him too once I told ya da news."

Maurice LeVeux: "Ya damn right I wanna meet da man who be wantin' to marry my lil' girl! From what the boys down in da kitchen tell me, he be a good man for ya and done ya right from day one."

Jynx LeVeux: "That he has, papa, that he has. I think you will get along wit him just fine. He loves ta cook and everythin', jus' like you and I see ya havin' fun dis weekend and cookin' up o' storm whilst ya here."

Maurice LeVeux: "Dat be a fine thing, petite. A man who loves bein' in da kitchen and has an appreciation for da food is a good man indeed!"

With another boisterous laugh emanating from Maurice as Jynx is heard laughing as well as the car pulls into the driveway of the Asheville home her and Eric now shared and as she parked the car, the camera fades to black.
