The Bastard of the Dreadfort.

It all happened in a blur of blood and bone crushing impact; the world was black and he could hear nothing, taste nothing, and feel nothing except his body as he fell to the ground and made cover. This was the last moments Gavin felt as he ended his match as Evolution 4; the world was nothing but a sea of black skies and deaf crows that hovered overhead as he was lifted to his feet. He slowly started to come to as the ref held his arm up, the black skies opened and he could see the dissatisfaction in the faces of the fans as they booed and razed hell as Gavin was helped out of the ring and stumbled his way to the back stage while EMT’s and other medical personal helped the Wildebeest into a gurney. Through the hall; passing each and every road agent and crew member who had just watched hell open its gates whispering as Gavin passes, the echoing words of Mac Danny stuck in everyone’s mind as Gavin ignoring the pleas to see the trainer continued to stumble on through the hallway.

Longer and longer he went; rolling off the walls and using tables to keep his balance until he reaches the last door in the hall, the last door before you got to the boiler room. Inside we could see Gavin’s thing in a make-shift locker as a sole wooden bench sat nearby. Tossing the title to the ground we watch as Gavin still shaking off the damage and trying to regain his focus grabs a bottle of water from his locker and pops the cap off, taking a swig and then drenching the rest down his back we see him shoot in shock as the cool water hits the open gashes and cuts and he realizes where he is at. He looks up and he sees the camera crew staring at him; silently pondering if retreat was a good idea as Gavin drops his head and begins to chuckle. Lifting his head back up we see Gavin lick his blood soaked lips before he opens his mouth for the world to hear his voice.

“I did exactly what I said I was going to do.”

Gavin mutters under beaded breath and sadistic laughter, his trembling hands lifting up and running through his dirty, sweaty hair as he pulls out strains of not just his hair that had been ripped from his scalp but strands of hair that belonged to the Wildebeest as he manhandled Nightmare like a child.

“Everyone who heard me felt like I was all talk going into battle with a mountain, and I was a light breeze. But I proved to not just the naysayers or the doubters but to each and every single fucking person who witnessed that even the lightest of breezes can cause a mountain to collapse and become nothing but rumble.”

Gavin pauses to regain his breath as he pulls another bottle of water from his bag and pops the cap off, taking yet another sip he swigs it around his mouth before spitting it back out, vibrant and red it was apparent that even though it happened forty minutes ago Gavin’s mouth was still bleeding.

“For three years I walked through arenas, through cites and airports with nothing but a name that no one ever wanted to remember. Ever since I lost my world championship three years ago I was written off as nothing more than a fluke and a joke to the world; as men like Troy Turner and Dean Jones had their short runs and were held high in the eyes of the fans of this company I was casted aside, looked down upon because I was a fan of getting the job done differently.”

“And so what”

Gavin says as he swigs another sip from the bottle.

“So what if I found enjoyment in cracking someone’s skull open with a steel chair or driving someone over broken glass and thumbtacks. So what if my idea of a fair fight was making even the largest of men suffer though mind games before I welcomed them into a depth of loneliness and sorrow that only a martyrs would know.”

Gavin lets out another chuckle of sadistic laughter and heavy breathing.

“For three years I have been fighting tooth and bone to make you all remember my name; and now that I have your attention I want to make something very clear.”

Gavin pauses for a brief moment as he hobbles to his feet and walks to the camera, picking up his newly won North American championship he holds it up next to his face and stares at the camera.

“I have worked hard to destroy the foundations that this company was founded upon, respect and honor isn’t something I find in my vocabulary. I have worked hard to make everyone who has had the bad luck to face me in that ring find out that I am not just some kid with a cute moniker. I reek what my namesake is and I don’t care if you are the Wildebeest, Trevor Hyatt, James Stall, or fucking Outkast resurrected from the grave to tell us of his second coming. I am going to break bones, I am going to tear and skin and I am going to make any man who tries to take what I’ve worked so hard to attain life more than a living hell.”

Gavin drops the title back to the floor and drops his head too as he can only laugh before looking back at the camera.

“Because we are already living in hell, we are living in an age where it’s not the heroes and white knights who are riding off into the sunset. It’s the villains and demons who hold this world in the palm in their hands, and as the sun sets it’s safe to say that it’s never going to rise again.”

On those words we watch as Nightmare runs his hands through his hair, as the last bit of hair falls from out of his hands and the parts between wingers we see blood dripping from his palms, the water and caked dirt only making it look worse as Gavin takes his left hand and runs it over the lens, smudging it for anyone to see before the camera quickly shuts off and we fade to black.
