Round Two
As my eyes rolled into the back of my head, the world turned to darkness.
In the end, as he undoubtedly stood over me sadistically in victory, Nightmare did exactly what he had set out to do. He took a light of the Lord and shrouded it with the darkness of the Devil, though only for a short while. After all, the light always overcomes the darkness.
The next thing I remember was coming to in the trainer room with a visibly worried Paxar hovering over me. A caring friend she has always been, though both the good times as well as the bad. Aside from some lightheadedness from the loss of consciousness, I was told that I would be fine and suffer no further consequences of what Nightmare had done.
With that in mind, Paxar and I made our way out west to Phoenix, Arizona for the next New Era Wrestling event...
“Reya, I still don’t think this is such a good idea...” Paxar mumbles as she sits on the bed in my hotel room.
“What is not a good idea?” I question her curiously, raising an eyebrow at her.
“Wrestling on NEW TV tomorrow night,” Paxar states worriedly. “After what Nightmare did, you really should rest...”
“That is exactly what Nightmare would want,” I tell her. “He would want me to rest, to point me out as another example of what happens to those that stand toe to toe with him. No, I shall not rest due to his actions. In any case, the doctors have cleared me to compete anyhow. The would not have done so if they did not feel I was physically able to do so. Besides, I have already been billed on the card by New Era Wrestling and the last thing I want to do is disappoint the many fans that look up to me by not competing in my upcoming match against Jennifer Taylor.”
“It’s going to be equally as disappointing to your fans if Jenni Taylor pins you and beats you...again,” Paxar asserts.
“Fortunately for me and for my fans, that is not going to happen,” I declare, smiling brightly.
“Do you not remember what happened like a month ago? She won against you in that ring and you were one hundred percent then. What do you think is going to happen when you step in the ring with her this time and you’re not a hundred percent?”
Letting out a sigh, I shake my head at her. “I am one hundred percent Paxar, just as I was when Jennifer and I first faced one another. As I have already said to you several times, the doctors said that I am in perfect health after what happened in my match with Nightmare. It will not affect me when I step into the ring with Jennifer Taylor on New Era Wrestling Television.
“I still think you should rest. After all, with all of these matches you’ve been taking part in lately...ACW matches, New Era matches, VIW matches, Survive and Conquer...it has got to be taking its toll on you. It’s a wonder you haven’t keeled over from exhaustion,” Paxar says to me, frowning slightly.
Looking into her eyes, I place a hand reassuringly on her shoulder. “Do not worry about me, mi amiga. Yes, I know I have been in many grueling matches of late, and I know there will be many to come, but thankfully thus far I have emerged from all of them relatively unscathed. I assure you that I am perfectly fine and will be completely prepared to take on Jennifer Taylor.”
“I hope you are, Reya. If there’s one thing J-Ram proved the last time you faced her it’s that she’s no slouch. She’s a good competitor and can hang in there with some of the best that New Era has to offer. Take her match with New Era TV Champ Tombstone, which she received by beating you, for example. She gave him a run for his money.”
“Indeed she did,” I reply with a nod. “A tremendous competitor she definitely is...not only that but she is not arrogant and egotistical about her abilities, which is a rarity amongst the competitors that I come into contact with on a regular basis.
As the eyes of Paxar widen, she puts a hand to her open mouth appearing to do so out of sarcasm. “There are arrogant and egotistical wrestlers? No way...”
“Yeah, who would have thought huh?” I remark, laughing slightly before turning more serious. “In any case, I have a very important day tomorrow. Perhaps I should get some rest.”
Getting up from the bed, Paxar gives an acknowledging nod as she makes her way to the door of my hotel room. “Good night, Reya. Don’t let the Weeping Angels get you.”
Smiling at her, I wave as she reaches for the door knob. “Good night, Paxar.”
Paxar turns the knob to open the door, exits the room and shuts the door behind her...
