Late afternoon

A beach in Phoenix, AZ...

Up above, the sky was as blue and cloudless as the perfect summer day. The hotel that most tourists would call temporary home loomed far off in the distance alongside most of the local Phoenix cityline. There were sunbathers and the occasional child or two…or three that would run on by, chasing and laughing or otherwise being scolded by an over protective parent for doing something that they shouldn’t. Walking down the sandy beach amongst all of that noise and clatter was a pair of sandaled feet, toenails painted a bright cherry red color, smooth legs that seemed to go on forever, and a set of…eyes hidden behind a pair of dark sunglasses. Zoe’s face was set into a calm look, her lips pursed tightly together as she carried a small purse in one hand and what was left of a sandwich in the other hand, taking a bite of it as she found herself a quiet place down the shoreline, away from most of the crowd to set down the towel that was hanging over her shoulder.

She looked from left to right to make sure that no one was following her, looking to take a picture or an autograph before laying out the towel on the sand and plopping herself down on it. The sandwich, or what was left of it was swallowed and the paper was shoved into the purse as she pulled out a bottle of suntan lotion, opening the cap to pour some into her open hand to spread it on her exposed skin. A small smile graced her lips then, thinking about how nice it was to be out and about here on the beach just relaxing and enjoying herself. Riot was off doing his own thing god knows where, and as much as she wanted his company right now, she kinda wanted the time alone to just breathe and relax and all that good junk. She could celebrate in her own way later.

For now she had that pompous Ric Turner to deal with. How she was going to deal with him was unsure, but perhaps it would be a lot better than what happened with Helmsley last week. At least she got a measure of payback for all the shit he put her and Riot through for the short time they had all partnered together. Perhaps next time he'll learn his lesson and not do such things again. Maybe she would stomp a literal mudhole into Ric Turner and break something on him, there was a number of options. Or she could just use a chair and get it overwith as quickly as possible.

Zoe grinned at her own morbid thoughts, thinking how nice it would be to put him to rest for the time being with one chair shot, or two...or three or more, who knows. She wasn’t going to slack off and let Ric run rimshot all over her all over that ring. Oh no. She just liked to make people think she was a lazy ass, just to surprise everyone when she did something. That was the fun part. Now she was going to soak up the sun, get a nice tan and go back to her posh little home to relax and watch a little tv. So long as she didn’t get sunburnt. Then forget about it, she’d sit and peel before letting anyone touch her. Not that she was a priss, she just hated being sunburnt.

Guys would walk by that had come from the other direction, whistling at her. All she would do was wave and smile, winking, only to watch them walk away and frown. Whatever. They weren’t interesting enough. Her future plans were more interesting than those boneheads. For now she was going to lay here on the beach and space out, soak up the sun and pretend the world didn’t exist for a while. Time passed as it always does and she sat up after a while, glancing down at her skin to make sure she hadn’t fried herself to a crisp in the process. Thank god she hadn’t. She stretched out her body before reaching into the small purse besides her, pulling out her phone, checking to see who had messaged her in her down time. It was from her friends of course, wanting to know if she would join them for some fun at a local bar for drinks and food, get some time to relax and shoot the breeze before she did her dirty deed tomorrow. The AC/DC song that those words related to popped into her head and she grinned, getting up from her beach towel as she grabbed it and her purse, strutting back down the beach to head to her car and eventually...home.

Time to bring the pain.
