Part One: Nobody, Not Even The Rain

The rain bounced off his hotel window like the pattering of fingertips on a table, each one echoing though the empty hotel room that could cause a normal man to go crazy from the constant banging off the glass. But Gavin found solace in the mind numbing noise; he rather enjoyed it because it allowed him to distract himself from his problems at hand and the shamble of a life he has been falling into.

Last week the world watched as Gavin snapped in the ring for the second week, he tried to fight the urge but in the end he turned the lamb that was Reya Serra and slaughtered her like the martyr the board of directors made her become. For weeks not the world of New Era and people outside of the company have been watching the slow and painful realization that the world of wrestling was slowly being overtaken by a masochistic mad man with an unquenchable thirst for pain and blood.

Hell it was a month ago and people are still talking about the absolute train wreck that was the beating that Doc Holiday received by the hands of Nightmare. People talk in whispers and hushed tones when they see Nightmare for they fear weather it was all a gimmick or if he truly had a strong distaste for humanity as a whole. His only break from the noises that lurked in his shadow was how peaceful he found the Pacific North West, how calming the scenery of the pine trees and waves that crashes off the cliff side mountains. But what calmed Gavin down the most was knowing that in a single instant he could jump from these cliffs and there would be no recovery of his body, with the crashing waves and jagged rocks he found pleasure in knowing that his body would be torn like paper through the hands of a child; that in a single instant he could end it all; the pain, the frustrations that his personal life has caused him, knowing that he could end the burden he was gave him pleasure, it gave him sleep.

But not even an endless rest o even a few hours could keep his thoughts down and so we find Gavin sitting inside his hotel room, bags packed and sitting on his bed but he shows no signs of leaving. Maybe this was because he grew up the same way, always staying prepared for when he was transplanted from foster family to foster family and never truly finding a sense of home or what it meant to be loved unconditionally since anyone who ever muttered that 4 letter word laced it with cyanide to kill the hope that would sprout from the image. But as Gavin sat there it felt like the minuets dragged into hours and all time became a constant loop that just repeated itself forever and onwards but as the silence grew and the rain poured heavy we hear a pattering unlike the rain off the glass.

Heavier and more force Gavin looked at the door with confusion and yet a lack of care in his eyes as he rolled his head back to stare at the ceiling. The knocking continued once more, once, twice, three times they knocked but Gavin didn’t care, weather it was someone from the front desk or the worst of someone trying to rob unsuspecting hotel guest he just sat there in his own thoughts. Once more the knocking hit the door but not heavy or with force, it seemed that whoever was at the door had given up and moved on. But that thought soon died as we hear the sliding of a card entering the lock and the door handle shifting open and in the frame we see no killer, no cleaning lady, but rather the slim frame of a woman. Her hair was a mix of golden blonde and brown as she walked in not fearful of what she may be seeing; she slid her key card into her pocket as she took a seat on the bed and cleared her throat.

Woman: “Hello Gavin; how are you doing today?”

She asks with a kind tone to her voice but Gavin gives no response as he continues to sit there alone like a shy child, not talking, not even looking at the woman to his left.

Woman: “Well as you know the Board of Directors hired me to be your personal chaperone to and from events for the foreseeable future. They heard about what happened to you and Samantha last week and they don’t want that to repeat so here I am.”

She nudges Gavin on the arm to see if he was there, and after a second or two of waiting Gavin stands from the chair and grabs his bag off the bed. Placing the hood off his unzipped hoodie up we watch as Gavin scratches the side of the neck as the woman just looks on at him

Gavin: “What was your name again?”

He asks her quietly as she can only smile with delight as she was finally able to get something out of Gavin.

Woman: “It’s Madison”

She answers politely.

Madison: “Madison Moore”

She smiles as Gavin just nods his head before he exits the hotel room, his bag in his hand he stops briefly in mid-step and grabs the backpack from next to the chair he was sitting in before exiting, the woman now known as Madison More turns the lights off before closing the door and catches up with Gavin before the two slowly disappear from frame of the camera.

Part Two: Damaged Goods

“I am not afraid of lions.”

We hear Gavin say as we quickly roll into the frame of the feed, no long and drawn out intro or descriptive landscape. We just see his form as he just stands there in the darkness of his Phoenix area hotel room. Through the cracks the outside lights break through but only enough to trace the outline of Gavin who just stands there not moving, not trembling, just breathing.

“I am not afraid of being’ lit on fire or drowning or falling.

Gavin chuckles as we see through the cracked light and shadows he moves his hands to his forehead, running his fingers through his hair.

“You want to know what really scares me?

He asks aloud

“Me”

Gavin chuckles again as he pulls his hands from his head.

“I’m afraid; I’m terrified, of the things I do to people when I feel hurt or forgotten. And that’s exactly how I feel right now; I feel hurt and forgotten. I feel a blizzard of emotions that cloud my mind and make me do things that when I look back at them I get scared of. I was afraid of myself when I watched the tape of me destroying Doc Holiday a month ago, I was mortified at how I took a beautiful flow like Reya and I turned her into nothing more than a body of dead weight. The Board of Directors are giving me people with promise and futures and they are watching me destroy them like they were nothing more than paper in a child’s hand. One by one I have been tearing through the roster of New Era, weather it was Bombtrack or Doc or Reya it’s undeniable that every person I have faced in the last six months hasn’t been the same when the match was over.

Gavin chuckles before we see him turn and drop the hotel bed, his arms outstretched as the cracked light can see his outstretched arms and the side of his royal blue t-shirt.

“But there is something inside of me, like a seed that has been growing and growing though the rage and hate I have. There is something inside me that enjoys everything I am doing, the terrified screams and the mortified looks of the fans and the crew in the back when they see my dripping with the blood of my opponent. It’s a rush that no drug or night of sex could ever take the place of.”

We watch through the shadows as Gavin pulls himself up.

“And it’s this feeling that is fueling me for the actions I am regretfully looking forward to on Sunday, a shot at the North American Championship is a goal that most men would dream for. But I could care less for the gold and the grander that comes with victory; rather I have the opportunity to end yet another man’s career in a few nights time. To be the one who ends the wild savage that is the Wildebeest is something that I will hold close to my chest because for the last few months he has been unstoppable. But like all things his run has to end, and in victory or defeat he will curse the gods and the night skies as he looks up at them from a stretcher.”

Gavin stands back up from the bed and faces the camera one last time as we see the light move across the room and through the darkness we can see the corner of Gavin’s face and that sick and twisted grin he wears so proudly.

“The crows and the vultures are sharpening there claws and beaks as they wait for their meal from the corpse of the wildebeest. And like nature I will show the world why the monsters of the night, the lions and other big cats that stalk and hunt in the shadows work as I tear through your body and make you into what you are. Not a man, not even a child but the animal you ever so wish to be; so may the gods be in you favor because come Sunday the cries and howls you will give out will fall on deaf ears as you fall like all the rest to the Devil that is me.”

Chuckling we see Gavin turn his head and open his mouth one last time.

“Hey you want to see something really scary?”

And before he could do anything we see the lights cut out and before they could turn on we see the camera move around quick before the last image is the flashing of light that fills the room before the camera crashes against a wall and ends the feed.
