Part One: New Year's Eve

Dimly lit is the living room as we slowly pan into the frame, the television screen being the only light source that flashes its images in front of Gavin who just sits there in silence. From coast to coast people were gearing up to celebrate the new year, from Time’s Square to the Pacific Coast it felt like a weight was being lifted off the shoulders of people. In a year that just needed to end, from a lost and confused kid shooting a school of six year olds to the riots that overtook third world countries seeking independence from the dictators that they voted in. it was a year that many would like to forget, but no man would like to forget it like Gavin. 2012 saw the resurgence of the monster that was once praised as the second coming of the Devil himself. It seemed that through victory or defeat no one could halt his momentum that carried him to a main even slot in this year’s Challenger Series. But outside of the ring Gavin was nothing short of an emotional time bomb, though some credit to the concussion he had relived back in April it was evident that Gavin wasn’t the same person he was, and the only stable beam he had to keep his sinking ship of a life from sinking finally broke in July as she left Gavin for a destination unknown.

For the last five months Gavin has laid on couches, afraid to enter the crypt that was his bedroom because the memories haunt him like ghosts of his fail past. And like the last five nights we find Gavin on the said couch, staring at the ceiling with a blank stare as we hear the television screen start to give a countdown.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, shot onto the screen as outside in the cold Boston Streets voices echoed over buildings and for miles everywhere as fireworks were shot and the year 2013 came into full effect. But for Gavin 2013 wasn’t a near year for new beginnings, it was just another year full of letdown and failures. You could hear voices outside his door running down sidewalks and from the windows above him, people ripping cords on party poppers and screaming in delight. But in the screaming and explosions Gavin’s ears were taken by surprise; but not from the sounds but the knocking that were at his door. Ignoring Gavin looked at the door and shrugged his shoulders as he went back to staring at the ceiling. The knocking happened once more as Gavin looks at the door and gets to his feet, thinking the worst he swore to himself that if it was his dad he would slice that mother fucker’s throat. As he opens the door we see his face blank and calm like a hindu cow only to be taken, his eyes widening in surprise as the faceless body enters the room.

“Y..Y..”

He couldn’t form the words as the person, much shorter then Gavin removes their jacket and places it on the coat hanger, it was clear who it was as they fix their flannel shirt and stare at Gavin. For the last five months Gavin was lost dreaming about a ghost and here was the Banshee Queen staring back at him. Her eyes blue like ice shot into his and froze him in place as he cracked smile was paralyzed him like he was hit by a car crash. She was as beautiful now as she was the last time he had seen her, and all Gavin could do was just stare at her like some love struck puppy. Never really seeing her face outside of her eyes and smile from over Gavin’s shoulder as she turned her head his feelings went away, gone was the calm he had been feeling, only to be filled with rage.

“WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!”

He screams out as we watch as his ghost, his phantom sits on his couch, sitting in silence as she just takes the brunt of his frustrations.

“Do you really fucking think that you can walk out on me, let FIVE FUCKING MONTHS pass by without saying a single fucking word to me and think that I will accept you back with open arms and a smile?”

Gavin turns his back to her as he throws his hands up and runs his hands through his hair.

“For months I have been thinking about you, been thinking about how much you meant to me and what I did to fuck up and make you leave. You left with no note, no reason, you used people as messengers to get to me and you know what hurt the most?”

Gavin questions as he turns around to stare at her.

“I loved you more than you ever knew, and you broke my heart when I knew that you were gone. That bedroom down there lays dormant, stale with memories of us and all I am afraid that if I try to sleep one night in there I won’t be able to wake back up.”

Turning his back once more Gavin throws a fist at the wall, his hand breaking the drywall that causes her to jump from the sound. Pulling his hand out Gavin see’s the blood dripping down and splattering to the floor. Walking across to the kitchen sink Gavin runs his hand under water before wrapping a towel over the wound. As he turns around he sees nothing on the couch, no coat on the door, and the door locked from the inside. Questioning himself he she was really here or just going insane Gavin walks to the couch, looks for footsteps or some trace that she was here. But as he finds nothing he can’t help but look over his shoulder and stare at his bedroom. Turning around he walks down the hall and enters the room, the lights shine bright like the sun as he flicks it on and closes the door behind him, unaware of what the morning will bring as the camera slowly fades away.

Part Two: The Sky Under The Sea

It’s been days since we had last heard from Gavin, gone is the apartment on New Year’s Eve and the events that has made Gavin question his own sanity. Gone is the snow covered streets and icy roads that coat the ground like glass. As we slowly pan into frame we find San Francisco in its early morning delight, the temperature is still cold but nowhere near as cold as it is in Boston. Coming closer to frame we find Gavin sitting pier side looking at the pacific ocean, watching as the sun reflects over the water like mirrors, and Gavin just standing there, leaning forward onto a nearby wooden beam. After a few moments of silence and reflection we finally hear Gavin begin to speak after having only ocean waves and the squawking of seagulls to fill in the dead noise.

“It’s funny how quick a turn of events can happen, in the blink of an eye you can go from the highest point of your life to the lowest. I know this feeling all too well, and this company has documented the fall quite well.”

“You see everyone suffers at some point or another, while some suffer in silence as they bask in the shadows of the failures that hang overhead like overcastted clouds. Other’s are more vocal about the suffering; but the more vocal one says they suffer the more you realize that the suffering isn’t real, that they are merely just craving attention to feed there needs of attention. Like a six year old finger painting on the wall these people need to be in the eye of everyone, pleading and doing anything they can to achieve the attention.”

Gavin pauses as he drops the hood off his head and lets the light sea breeze blow through his jet black hair.

“Doc Holiday is as much of a six year old as the child that Bombtrack pretends to be. You see I know that you came back Doc because the need for attention and self lust has been lacking. I know that you came back because you need to be seen, be heard by the thousands and millions of people around the world. You are here because you truly give a fuck about this business and what we do week in and week out for the fans that pay to watch us perform.”

We watch as Gavin spits into the ocean as he turns his back to the water, staring up to the sky we watch as Gavin runs his hands over his face and his fingers through his hair.

“Doc you came back not because you care for wrestling, but because you started to notice that the money you once had was soon disappearing from your bank. Like many people before you and the swarm that will follow you, you are here for the paycheck, not the people. You are here, pretending to be buddies with Bombtrack not because you are invested with him and the plague I have brought to this company. But because the company is investing money into some half-hearted beat down man who should be on the streets.”

“And that is exactly what I am going to rectify come this Sunday when we meet in the ring Doc. You and your perfect world and new found cash flow are soon going to realize that everything you have ever known about wrestling, or the life you once lived will soon be erased in an instant. Doc you are what’s wrong with society, with humanity as a whole; with your whole mindset focused on greed and how to attain the all mighty dollar you have lost focus on the necessities that you are lacking in survival skills.”

“Doc victory is the last thing I have in mind on Sunday because beating fifty shades of red out of you is something I find much more appealing to do. I am going to enjoy watching you crawl and beg for mercy like the proverbial cash slave you are. I am going to break each finger on your hands just so you can count the ways on how you want this all to end. And when you want the release, when you want to finally feel free and the pain to go away; Doc that’s when the fun starts for me. You see it’s only when you are at your lowest that you are free to feel alive; that you are free to live like nothing can harm you.”

Chuckling to himself as Gavin looks into the camera.

“But you won’t ever feel that release Doc, you are too selfish and buried into your pride to ever give into the comfort that this could be the end. So the pain will live through you forever like a living scar that will never heal no matter how much you wish for it to stop it won’t; it will just scab over and when you think it’s finally over you will pick at it like the six year old child you are and it will bleed once more, filling your mind with the images and horrors you lived through this night. And trust me Doc, no witty comeback nor half-hearted retort can stop the claims I am making because you can ask Bombtrack, you can ask anyone I’ve faced that I last with you longer then a cancer ever would.”

“THIS IS SEMPITERNAL!”

Gavin shouts to the heavens above, the birds nearby flying away in a scared hurry.

“And you Doc will never get to see the end.”

On those words we watch as Gavin throws the hood back over his head and walks off into the distance, the camera slowly fading away as the screen cuts to black.
