We Have Limits
There are people in this world that would do whatever it takes in order to get what they desire. They do not let anyone nor anything stand in their way. For them, truly anything goes and there are no limits.
I, Reya Serra Janason, am not one of those people.
See, there are those that abide by a set of guidelines, or rules as some may call them, in living their life and attempting to gain that which they want. Being the good Christian woman that I am, many of the guidelines set forth in the Bible are those that I follow. Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal...
Thou shalt not bludgeon a friend with weaponry is not among the Commandments of the Lord, but for me it might as well be. I have never sought to use weapons in competition even when the competition itself calls for it and this particular match against my dear friend Matthew Slater is no different...
A short time after our rendezvous with Matthew Slater had reached its conclusion, Paxar and I decide to resume walking together through Old Montreal until we come across a wonderfully splendid sight, one I had been hoping to visit during our time here in Montreal...
"The Notre-Dame Basilica..."
"Notre Dame? Are there any hunchbacks or fighting Irish here?"
As my friend begins to laugh, I shake my head at her not understanding the humor in her question.
"I do not believe so, no. Why do you ask?"
Paxar stops laughing, shaking her head in dismay as the two of us enter the Basilica, reducing our voices in volume.
"Never mind. As I've said many times Reya, joking around with you isn't nearly as fun when I have to spell out the joke to you."
"I see...Perhaps you should attempt to joke around with Mister Falcon more often then. You may find more humor in doing so."
Paxar glares at me momentarily before shaking her head once more as we make our way towards the pews.
"Yeah...I don't think so, Reya. I'm more likely to strangle him than try to joke around with him."
"Hence why I believe it would be better to joke around with him."
"Anyway, what was your little convo with Slater all about? How he plans to stab you in the back again before beating you into a bloody pulp with any weapon he gets his hands on?"
"No...what Matthew wished to speak to me about was quite the opposite, actually."
"Oh so he plans to stab you in the front then this time?"
Dismayed, I shake my head at Paxar as we stop in front of one of the pews.
"Matthew was not quite himself when he performed those deceitful acts long ago, Paxar. You should really let such things go and forgive rather than holding onto them like you do."
"I do forgive...I just don't forget."
"In any case, Slater wished to inform me that much like myself he has no intentions of using weapons in our upcoming match for this No Limits Championship."
"Well that's all well and good, but this title and this match kind of calls for using weapons, Reya. What if they make you both use them?"
Speaking sternly to Paxar, I glance down at my clothing covered forearm, the very same forearm that was viciously and callously mutilated with the word Tainted by my twin sister Cera months ago, before turning my gaze back to Paxar.
"Unlike this No Limits Championship that Matthew and I are vying for, we have our limits. I have no intention of tainting myself nor the friendship that Matthew and I share with each other in order to attain victory in this match, even if that means that I am disqualified as a result of my defiance."
Noticing a Bible sitting nearby on the pew, I pick it up and hold it in my hand as I continue speaking.
"My faith in the Lord and my abilities in the ring are the only weapons I require to walk out of Montreal as the victor and the very first No Limits Champion, not any of the various assortment of weapons that will undoubtedly be available for use for our match."
Still grasping the Bible, I move to sit on the pew, taking a seat upon it as Paxar does the same.
"Slater's just as if not more able to walk out the winner though, Reya. After all, he's nothing like the Ruby Red's and Gavin Payne's you've been facing."
"Indeed. Matthew is an immensely talented wrestler. He proved that in being the victor of the mystery tournament, though I was already well aware of his talent. It will be an intense match to be sure, but when it is over no matter which one of us is the winner our friendship shall remain fully intact. Come now, Paxar. Let us pray."
Paxar shakes her head.
"I'll pass."
Dismayed, I let out a heavy sigh.
"Suit yourself."
Bowing my head, I begin my prayer...
Lord, give me strength...
