You’re a monster now, Romeo? Am I supposed to really believe that. Have you blown up trailers, beaten up children and wrapped people in barbed-wire before hanging them off buildings? Have you ended someone’s career or fractured an innocent girl’s skull with a sledgehammer? No. Bombtrack and I are monsters. We’re avatars of violence sent to torment people like you. You’re just a scared and confused young man.

Do you really think you can challenge me in a match as extreme as the one we’re about to have? You certainly have bold fantasies of beating me at my own game. But what hardcore experience do you have, Romeo? What have you done other than win one ladder match? Face it. You don’t have the chops for this. You don’t know what it takes to survive a match like this, but I thrive on the extreme. I get off on this kind of violence. Go ahead and pretend that that anger you feel toward me will be enough to get you through this, but we both know it won’t.

You’re right about one thing though. I do have so many more accomplishments that I could mention. I didn’t even touch on Linnea Lacroix, Jake Hammer, or Ross Raines among others. But I don’t need you to waste your time complaining about the fact that I state my accomplishments over and over again only to list them all right back at me. Where’s the signature Romeo Stylez creativity? Gone off into the sunset with that smile of yours?

Don’t expect to move me with your sob story, Romeo. Don’t expect me to suddenly try to build you up because you seem content with laying down and giving up, but I’m not going to break you down anymore either. I don’t need to do that anymore because you doing a fine job of coming up with the reasons you’re going to lose this match all by yourself.

I will say this. It has been fun, and, for the most part, worth my time. In the end you’ve given me exactly what I wanted, a man to build my reputation on, a feud that people will talk about for years to come, and a story that will live on forever. Together we will engage in one last match and raise the North American Championship to a prominence that it has never seen before. And who knows, perhaps I’ll be able to look back on my complete destruction and rebuilding of you as my greatest accomplishment.

So thank you, Romeo. Thank you for making this feud memorable. This means something. And thank you for helping me further elevate the North American Championship, for being there when Nikki cracked under the pressure and Outkast had his unfortunate passing.

Mostly though, thank you for being another head on my wall.

It is the day of Vindication now. James Stall stalks the hallways of Madison Square Garden as he readies his mind for his upcoming match against Romeo Stylez. His focus is set, as he walks the hallways a pain shoots through his ribs and causes him to press his hand against a nearby wall. It is then that he spots Jimmy Helmsley who passes him by without so much as a head nod. James pushes himself off the wall and rushes toward Helmsley. He catches the former World Champion by the arm.

“We need to talk.”

Jimmy shrugs Stall off and keeps walking without turning his head. Clearly dealing with James Stall is not the most pressing matter on his mind.

“There’s nothing to talk about.”

James grits his teeth before running up and shoving Jimmy from behind. He will not allow himself to be ignored.

“Oh really? How about the fact that I haven’t seen you or Zoe all week? Zoe, whatever I don’t care if she shows up or not, but you’re supposed to be our leader.”

To Stall’s chagrin, Jimmy staggers but he continues on ahead largely undeterred.

“I have my own problems to worry about.”

James cuts in front of Jimmy and the two are stopped in front of a storage closet.

“Like Bombtrack? You’re in a ten plagues of New Era match, and I haven’t seen you the gym once. We haven’t talked strategy. You haven’t asked for my help.”

Jimmy cuts through Stall with a glare.

“I don’t need your help.”

James scoffs.

“Oh really? Because you sure as hell haven’t shown me anything to prove you can.”

Jimmy shoves his finger in James’ chest.

“I can handle Bombtrack unlike you.”

At the reminder of his lose to Bombtrack at the first ever New Main Event, James staggers backward. Jimmy keeps coming and gives James a hard shove.

“That’s right. I watched that performance of your even after we took the rest of his friends out of the picture.”

James rallies back despite the ache in his ribs and nearly jams his finger into Jimmy’s face.

“I took Bombtrack to his limit!”

Jimmy pushes Stall away.

“But you couldn’t push him over. Instead you lost like a…”

He hesitates because he knows his response will cause James Stall to explode with anger, and his usual tactic here is to try to defuse this situation and calm down the Ayatollah of Aggression. But this time he has no back up plan. There is no way to misdirect James this time, and besides, James already knows what Jimmy is about to say.

Stall curls his upper lip and glares at Jimmy.

“Say it.”

Jimmy is unresponsive, but James balls his fists and shouts at him.

“Say it!”

Jimmy spits at the ground.

“Like a bitch.”

James slams his fist against the storage closet door and succeeds in popping it off of one of its hinges.

“How many times have you beaten Bombtrack? Once. And remind me the result of the one time we faced each other because I’m pretty sure I pinned your shoulders to the mat.”

James face grows red as he thinks about the rest of his so called teammates as well as the other two stables they are currently locked in a feud with.

“While we’re at it, what was the outcome of my first encounter with Riot? If memory serves me correct I made him tap out. And who hear has had the most success against Diamonds in the Club? That’s right. It’s me.”

Stall pokes himself in the chest.

“I am the driving force behind the group. I do all the heavy lifting. I’ve been a good soldier for you Jimmy Helmsley. You’ve aimed me at my opponent’s and fired, and I’ve gotten the job done every time. And you couldn’t even give me what I wanted. I had to go out and get it myself.”

It’s Jimmy’s turn to scoff.

“And look what happened. You got yourself busted up a week before your match with Romeo Stylez.”

“I will be fine for my match.”

“You couldn’t beat Romeo Stylez one on one when you were a hundred percent.”

James utters a low growl.

“I made him tap out.”

“Then why aren’t you North American Champion right now.”

James shoves Jimmy’s shoulder.

“This is different.”

Jimmy shakes his head. He knows that at this point he might as well antagonize Stall further and keep him focused on his North American title match.

“Oh is it? What’s the difference between this match and the NewTV after Bloodlust when he beat you for the title?”

James stares down at Jimmy’s feet.

“I’m more focused now.”

“Really? Because running off to face Bombtrack in Vegas doesn’t exactly scream focus to me.”

“I take everything one match at a time. Last week was Bombtrack. This week all my attention is focused squarely on Stylez. Besides, I wasn’t exactly a hundred percent after Bloodlust either.”

Jimmy taps James on the shoulder and starts to walk past him.

“Now you’re just making excuses.”

James looks down the hallway as Jimmy walks past him. He pounds his fist into his other hand and cracks his neck.

“I don’t need excuses. I’m going to win. Vindication will be another victory over Diamonds in the Club for me. Meanwhile you should be worrying less about me and more about your own match. Maybe instead of trying to lecture me you should just say thank you.”

Jimmy stops in his tracks.

“For?”

James has Jimmy right where he wants him and smiles, but he keeps his back to Helmsley.

“For giving you Bombtrack wrapped up on a silver platter. I guarantee you after that match and after the beatdown I gave him he’s in far worse condition than me. If you don’t beat him you’re going to need to do some real mental gymnastics to come up with excuses.”

Jimmy looks down at the ground, but he keeps his body turned away from Stall.

“Don’t worry about me.”

James turns around and places a hand on Jimmy’s shoulder.

“I do, Jimmy. I really do because if you don’t win, if you don’t beat Bombtrack even after the hell I put him through, I will begin to doubt you, and I’d hate to do that.”

Jimmy knocks James’ arm away and spins around. He nearly takes a swing at Stall’s face.

“Listen to me. Genesis was my idea. I brought you all together, and if you keep listening to me we will change the landscape of this business.”

James runs his fingers through his hair and sighs.

“You know, I like to believe that, and I still very much believe in the cause. Pretenders like Diamonds in the Club and hypocrites like Bombtrack need to be crushed. It’s your leadership that I’m having trouble believing in.”

“You need to remember your role.”

James looks away and mutters under his breath.

“Whatever you say Farooq.”

“What was that?”

Stall looks up at Jimmy and smiles.

“Nothing.”

His smile quickly disappears, and he taps his finger against Jimmy’s chest.

“But if I see any “should I retire” promos coming from you I swear to God I’ll break your legs myself. Genesis has no room for doubt.”

“Like I said, don’t worry about me.”

James holds up both hands and takes a few steps backward.

“I’ll see you after Vindication then when both our hands have been raised in victory.”

Jimmy cracks his knuckles.

“And Riot and Zoe as well.”

James taps his hand against his forehead and gives Jimmy a mock salute.

“So you say.”

James turns around and begins to walk down the hall. Jimmy shouts after him.

“It will be our night, James.”

But James doesn’t respond. Instead he continues to walk down the hall and ones against growls softly to himself.

“It will be mine.”
