It was a couple of days before NewTV 45 and I had flown back to the states to take care of a little personal business. It didn’t involve anything to do related to Rachel, but it did relate to a problem from my past. About a week ago, I received a letter from Bombtrack wanting to meet with me. Apparently, he is disappointed with how I’ve been acting lately. Join the club.
When I sat down and read it, the letter wasn’t what I expected. Bombtrack didn’t seem much like himself from how it was written. It was as if he were a changed man, a notion I wasn’t sure to take as good or bad . At first, I didn’t want anything to do with meeting him. He had caused too much pain in my life for me to even think about seeing him. When he disappeared, my life got back on track.
I kept asking myself why should I meet the man who put a halt on my career moving forward? How could any of it benefit me? It wasn’t until I spoke to Brooke about it where I realized that this meeting could be a good thing. Bombtrack had done a lot of bad things during his last stint in NEW. He had attempted to bury Brooke alive along with marrying an underage girl.
Brooke reminded me that she could still bring him in for kidnapping and attempted murder. We hatched a plan to set Bombtrack up and finally put him away for the rest of his life. Brooke said that once she got him incarcerated, she could probably get additional charges brought on him for all his other terrible acts.
In the letter he had sent, he gave me some contact information for me to reach him. I sent an email for him to meet me today in David’s bar as he requested. I arrived a little bit early to get everything set up. David and I sat at the bar watching as the cops set up the stations that they were setting the wires up.
Jimmy Helmsley: Thanks for keeping the bar closed. I promise that it will be worth it.
David looked away for a second. He still hadn’t accepted my new attitude in regards to New Era Wrestling. David was very old fashioned when it came down to how people are treated. He believes the in the phrase, do onto others as you wish they do onto you.
David Mason: I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t believe in the cause. Despite how I feel about your recent attitude change, Bombtrack has committed crimes that he should do the time for.
I patted him on the back while looking over at Brooke, who was pointing some officers towards the back of the bar. She wanted this to happen just as much as I did, possibly even more.
David Mason: You need to do something about James Stall.
That comment brought my attention back towards him.
Jimmy Helmsley: What are you talking about?
David Mason: Should I make a list? The guy has lost his mind. He’s already gone overboard with what happen to that poor girl. From what I can tell, you’re the closest thing he has to a friend, so it’s your responsibility.
I laughed at the thought of me being responsible for Stall. He was a grown man who could take care of himself. Besides, who am I to get involved in something that could result in Outkast getting hurt.
Jimmy Helmsley: You know why we’re here today, right? Because I got involved in something that I should have never been involved with. Bombtrack brought that young girl to this company and I tried doing the right thing, but all it got me was betrayal from that girl and an ass kicking from Bombtrack. That’s what happens when I get involved in people’s affairs.
Not only that, why should I take any responsibility for anything that happens in NEW? I’ve looked out for this company for the past year and a half and it’s gotten me nowhere. Nobody respects what I’ve done for NEW. I’m done sacrificing myself to help others when nobody wants to help me in return. I’m taking responsibility for myself and myself alone.
He shook his head and smirked at my comments.
Jimmy Helmsley: What was that for?
David Mason: You aren’t stupid, Jimmy. All of what’s going on with Outkast, Stall, and Romeo, it’s your fault. In your mind, they are your puppets and you’re the puppet master. A normal person would be talking Stall down and trying to ease his mind, but you just want to see the chaos that happens from all of this.
Stall is going through a rough time and needs someone who is looking out for his best interest. He lost his girlfriend and all of his friends that came with her. From what I can tell, he doesn’t really have anyone else. Doesn’t that mean anything to you? What happen to the guy that looked out for other people? Do you even know that guy anymore?
Normally, I would be upset with David at this point, but I know he doesn’t see the full picture. If you aren’t involved in the business, then it’s hard to understand the nature of how decisions are made. The amount of disrespect that’s been given to me can’t be seen from watching on television. It’s something that he’d have to see on a daily basis.
Jimmy Helmsley: I know you haven’t completely supported me through this change I’ve gone through, but you’re my friend, you’re supposed to support me even when you don’t agree with the choices that I make.
David got up from the stool and looked me up at down.
David Mason: Stall is your responsibility whether you like it or not. Don’t let him do something he’ll regret.
He walked off and headed to the back to his office. Brooke waved me over towards her and a group of officers.
Jimmy Helmsley: What’s up? Got everything set up.
Brooke Cooper: We’re almost ready. I want to check one last time to make sure you want to go through with this. Once we catch him, I’m taking him down.
I stood there and thought about everything that Bombtrack’s put me through over the past year. He’s presumably one of the reasons that Rachel disappeared and he’s put my friends through misery I wouldn’t ever want someone to be put through. It was a simple choice to make after going through all those thoughts.
Jimmy Helmsley: He’s getting what he deserves. There’s no turning back anymore.
Brooke Cooper: You heard the man, let’s get this into motion. I want each of you to go change into your street clothes. As soon as we have a eye on Bombtrack, we’re taking him down.
I chimed in after that last part.
Jimmy Helmsley: Do you mind giving us a few minutes to talk once he gets here? I want my face to be the last thing he sees before you cart him off.
Brooke Cooper: Sounds good to me. Do you guys mind giving us a few minutes?
The officers started scattering as we took a seat at one of the tables.
Brooke Cooper: Alright, what’s bothering you?
Jimmy Helmsley: I just had an argument with David. He’s having an hard time accepting my new persona within NEW.
Brooke Cooper: I’m sorry that you two are having bromance issues, but I’m going to need you to have a straight head with all this. We can’t have Bombtrack getting any ideas once he gets here. Otherwise, he’ll escape once again and all of this will have been for nothing.
Jimmy Helmsley: Don’t worry about me, I’m ready for this. I’ve been waiting for this for the past six months. My career has been on fire since Bombtrack disappeared and I’m not going to allow him to waltz his way back into NEW just to destroy everything that I’ve been working for. Do you know what happens on June 10th?
Brooke Cooper: I don’t really care, but I’m sure you’re going to tell me.
Jimmy Helmsley: On June 10th , it’s the third annual London Brawl, a match that I have made my bitch for the past two years. There’s nobody in this company that has had more success in the London Brawl more than I have. When people think of the London Brawl, they think of Jimmy Helmsley.
Do you think it’s a coincidence that Bombtrack is thinking about returning at the London Brawl? He has made it his livelihood to ruin anything that I have worked hard for and he’s going to try and continue that at the Brawl. He can go on about how he wants to help me become the man that I used to be, but let’s face it, this is Bombtrack we’re talking about. He doesn’t want to help anyone except himself.
Brooke Cooper: Well, if everything goes to plan, he won’t make it to London. If I were you, I’d be thinking about that instead of what’s going to happen on June 10th.
Jimmy Helmsley: Let’s do this.
May 27, 2012 NewTV 45
The show had gone off the air and I was walking through the backstage area heading towards my locker-room. I was in a good mood since James and I had just got a huge win against Outkast and Romeo Stylez. It was only the beginning of a change that I had in store for this company. If Romeo and Outkast want to beat the hell out of each other, then so be it, it’s only helping my cause.
Walking down the hall, I received several ugly looks coming from the backstage staff. I looked behind me to see if they might be looking at someone else, but they were definitely looking at me. I had no idea what I could have possibly done that could garner me so nasty looks from these people.
Jimmy Helmsley: I know each of you will never be as good as me, but staring isn’t going to make you any better.
Jesse, one of the crewmen, stepped up and decided to speak for the crowd.
Jesse: I hope you’re proud of yourself.
Again, I had no idea as to why I was getting all the fingers pointed at me.
Jimmy Helmsley: What are you talking about?
Jesse: Isobel Marie is in the hospital because of you.
Jimmy Helmsley: You mean Isobel is in the hospital because of Stall? I didn’t do anything.
Jesse: Exactly, you didn’t do a damn thing to help when your partner went on a rampage. Isobel looked up to you and you didn’t lift a finger to help her.
Jimmy Helmsley: She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She knew what she was getting herself into when she signed a contract to become an interviewer.
Jesse: She didn’t deserve what happen to her. You could have stopped Stall from assaulting her.
This was getting me upset. I wasn’t going to take any more disrespect from these peasants.
Jimmy Helmsley: Did you not watch the show? I got Stall to calm down!
He looked at the ground, not even wanting to look at me. He lifted his head back up and had nothing but emotion in his face.
Jesse: Only when it was too late.
Jesse and the rest of the crew bumped shoulders with me and walked past me, not even looking me in the eye. I can’t believe they had the nerve to blame me for what Stall did. Stall is a grown man who should take responsibility for his own actions. When I started to head to my locker-room, I received a text on my phone. It was a London Brawl card update. James Stall vs. Romeo Stylez vs. Outkast had been added to the card for the North American Championship. I didn’t see my name listed anywhere within that match.
Jimmy Helmsley: You have got to be kidding me.
I turned around and immediately headed towards the office of the general manager, Jihad. Since his return, I had avoided confrontation with him. I didn’t want to get caught up in any kind of mess, but after seeing him get owned by Spencer Riggs, I realized it wasn’t the same Jihad from XFC. I didn’t even bother knocking and entered his office. He looked up at me and immediately looked back down at the papers he was working on.
Jihad: Oh great…
He wasn’t even trying to acknowledge that I was in the room.
Jimmy Helmsley: We have a problem that needs to be dealt with.
Jihad: We don’t have a problem, you do, and I don’t care what that problem is.
He said all of this while still looking down at his papers.
Jimmy Helmsley: You’re the general manager, you’re supposed to manage the talent. I need you to actually start doing your job instead of letting a little twerp like Spencer Riggs make you look like a bitch.
That caught his attention as he looked up at me and stood from his chair. Just for his own safety, I backed up a little bit.
Jihad: What do you want?
Jimmy Helmsley: I want to know why I’m not involved in the triple threat match for the North American championship?
Jihad: Do you think you’re supposed to be involved in everything? These three have a lot to work out and don’t need you in the match messing everything up.
Jimmy Helmsley: Are you trying to say I’m not good enough for this match? Do you not remember me beating Outkast last month at Bloodlust?
Jihad started shaking his head as if I were an idiot.
Jihad: I don’t get you. You don’t have a match to worry about before the brawl, most people would be ecstatic about that. Do you not realize that this year’s brawl has 55 people in it? It is the biggest London Brawl in the history of this company. There will be superstars from New Era, Majestic, and even Warped.
Jimmy Helmsley: Seriously? Warped again? Didn’t they get enough ass kicking’s in their last stint with us?
Jihad: Switchblade wanted me to tell you hello.
Just hearing his name pissed me off. He and I have had some recent war of words on Twitter. I shouldn’t have to deal with him again.
Jimmy Helmsley: I don’t care about him. Do you not remember us the last time in the ring together? I left the ring with him lying flat on his back. Switchblade isn’t in my league. Warped isn’t in my league. And if the guys from Majestic have any brains, they’ll stay out of my way.
Jihad: Just concentrate on the brawl, Jimmy. People are picking you as a favorite, and with you not having a match before hand, there’s a distinct advantage in your corner.
He was trying to butter me up and it wasn’t going to work. I deserved to be in the match with Stall, Outkast, and Stylez.
Jimmy Helmsley: How did you even get hired as the general manager? You have no management skills whatsoever. I’m a main attraction for this company. People pay their hard earned money to watch me compete and entertain. I don’t need to worry about the brawl because I know what it takes to win. I won last year and went through the whole match the year before. The London Brawl is my match and I’m going to prove that on June 10th.
Jihad: Then why are you complaining about the North American Championship match?
Jimmy Helmsley: Because I deserve the spotlight! I proved to the world last month at Bloodlust that I’m better than Outkast. If he is in this match, then I should definitely be involved.
Jihad started walking towards me and I started backing up as he got closer.
Jihad: Get out! Now!
He pretty much escorted me out the door and slammed it behind me. I could hear him locking it from the other side. If he was going to play it like this, then I was just going to have to go over his head. I pulled out my phone and started dialing MPG.
Jimmy Helmsley: Mark, it’s Jimmy, I need you to get me on the next plane to San Francisco. I’ll explain why later.
I hung up the phone and headed to my locker-room. Jihad thinks he can take the spotlight that I have earned away from me. He doesn’t know who he’s dealing with. He thinks he is doing me a favor by giving me only the brawl to worry about. I don’t need any favors. My experience in the brawl speaks for itself. June 10th is still two weeks away and there’s a lot to be done before it comes. For now, its time to head to San Francisco to get what I deserve, my spotlight back.
