"I killed your cat, you druggie bitch. I thought it would bring closure to our relationship!"

Adam Jones lets out a small chuckle.
Nothing quite like enjoying a marathon session of The Boondock Saints. This was only his fifth time re-watching through the movie since his flight into Sea-Tac National. Snow and ice had overtaken the greater Seattle area, and transportation had become something of an impossibility. He'd already been delayed three days from just flying into the area. Now he was stuck at the airport, with no way of getting to his hotel in downtown Bellevue. With the date to his next event -slated against Tre Crawford, drawing near it would take a miracle to get him to the arena on time.

In spite of that, he was not dejected in the slightest.

The past few months had not been kind to The Good Doctor.
His feud against Tyler Graves had not gone favorable. In spite of the added assistance of Nightmare in his corner, Graves continued on his crusade -and gained more ground with each and every outing. In one of the last events that Jones appeared in, he'd even been jumped by a group consisting of Scott Raven, Shane Storm, and Anne Arky -along with old Tyler Graves himself. There he was, surrounded by four men and having the life choked out of him. At the end of the night, Nightmare had saved him and his injuries were light. It wasn't enough to keep him down, but it was enough to tell him that he needed to step up his game if he were going to make it here in NEW.

Once, when he'd been a Champion over at Supreme Wrestling -he found himself often a target in unsolicited attacks. It had almost done him in, but he thought he'd conditioned himself enough to be able to bear them. Apparently, that wasn't the case. He was dedicated to this business a hundred percent. Perhaps, however, it was time to give a little more.

Adam asked his father what he thought he should do.
Patrick Jones turned, nodded, and left without a word. A day later he'd come back with a name. Joseph Varallo. A well-recommended and highly regarded MMA instructor in Southern Philadelphia. Just a quick little five or six hour drive from Doc's old home in Boston. Adam thought it over, and researched the man a little further. The more Adam thought about it, the more it sounded like a good idea. After all, Tyler Graves main argument against Jones had been his lack of commitment and skill. It was true, in fact, that Adam had never undergone any real kind of formal training. He just sort of "winged it", really, and hoped for the best. So far the results had been rather mixed. He'd had a few memorable successes, as well as a streak of failures. But nothing ever really stuck. He'd never gotten that kind of permanent momentum or direction that he really wanted. It was time to change all that.

He put in a request for some time off and headed to Philly.
Immediately, The Good Doctor took a liking to his new instructor. They weren't much alike really. Adam likened himself on being an outdoorsy type with a laid back attitude. This guy, Varallo, lived and breathed the gym. Adam speculated that he probably never left the place -likely had a bedroom upstairs. Overly serious and completely dedicated -that's what he liked about him. Jones wanted that. That motivation to devote himself a hundred and fifty percent, until he lived and breathed the sport. And Varallo put him through it. Just like a good drill instructor, picking on the pretty boy with golden locks and a washboard stomach. It was weeks upon weeks of torture, hell, and self-sacrifice. And every moment had been worth it. Each day Adam saw himself react in ways he couldn't before. He lost track of time, lost in this new regime. It was insane.

He'd even managed to miss the date for his Pay-Per-View appearance at the Challenger Series. That... -that he was still sore about, and heard plenty about from NEW Era's management staff. But the deed had been done, and there wasn't anything he could do to change it now. Truth was, his little training montage had nearly reached it's end. It became apparent that if he hadn't improved to a satisfactory level by now, he wasn't going to. He had no idea really if the course would actually help his game any, but it was time to find out. It was time to return to NEW Era full-time without excuses, or miss his chance to find the momentum he craved.

Politely he bid farewell to Varallo, and booked his flight to Tacoma.
And here he was. Waiting patiently, eager, and in no way dejected. He knew it was unlikely that the issue between Graves' group and himself was to be resolved at this point. Best to put that one on the back-burner while he gained a little bit of steam in the singles competition lineup. Right now he was concentrated on only one thing. Showing everyone that The Good Doctor has the skills, motivation, dedication, and commitment to go with the highest levels of competition. Beyond that, everything was chill. Beyond that, his priorities were of no consequence. He believed that he was ready. More ready to prove himself than he had been at Supreme Wrestling. More ready than he had been against Tyler Graves and his group. More ready than he had ever been.

Later, upon arrival at the Tacoma Dome.
Tre Crawford.
This week is your debut, isn't it? I'm glad. I am glad you get to fight me in your debut.

Scratch that.

I am glad that I have the honor of being your first opponent at NEW Era.
I'm what you would call unfamiliar to most faces back in the locker room. I don't involve myself in the little power plays and schemes that most get caught up in. Mostly because I'm not very good at it. Believe men, I tried my hand once a couple years ago and had to sit on the shelf for a long time because of it. As such, I really don't give jack about whatever is going on with you and the rest of that Syndicate shit. Whatever ego you have riding on that, you can check it at the door. Right now is about you and me. One on one competition. May the best man win, right?

That's what I'd like to see.
You, as a debuting athlete, have yet to show anyone what you're really capable of. I'd like to be the first to find out. I'd like to be the first in a long line of opponents that you can fight and learn from. And I'd like to learn from you, somebody who is a fresh face in the company's locker room. My Dad, he always said one thing to me that I always loved when I was studying medicine under his instruction. "As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another". I very much believe that to be true. You and me, I hope that we can work well together. I hope that we have a great match. And I hope that the best man wins.

You get me?"
