NEW Era's Saving Grace
[ * * ]
Becoming Part of The Legacy

The scene opens up inside the dimly lit Bell Center. Everywhere inside the arena is empty, it appears to be empty to the naked eye, but the as the camera pans around the nearby area, a lone figure stands over the balcony looking into emptiness that encompasses the area. As we get closer the camera recognizes the man to be NEWera's Television Champion, Doc Holiday. Standing with his back toward the camera, you can see that he is dressed in blue faded jeans and a black shirt that on the back reads “Don't Quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion”. A quote made famous by Heavyweight champion boxer, and who many consider the greatest boxer of all time, Muhammad Ali. The TV title rests on his sholder Doc breaks the silence, still looking out in the dimly lit Bell Center arena.

Doc: Every man, no matter what he does, wants to leave behind a legacy. He wants to be remembered for something he did or something he conquered. To say that I'm not one those men would be a lie. Why do you think I'm out there busting my ass out there on NEW Friday Nights, NEW Generations, and NEW TV? Why do you think Outkast works as hard as he does? Why do you think he defends the World Title more than anyone of our other World Champions? Why do you think Motherfuckin Troy Turner is even here? He's got all the money in the world, dad can get him anything he wants. Women want him, boys and men want to be him. He's got everything anyone could ever want? Not to him, he wants a legacy, he wants to be remembered for something other than being a billionaire’s son. The same with Jimmy Helmsley, why do you think he's here? Despite all the emo bullshit he puts the fans through and his continual unsuccessful attempts at regaining the world title, and his unsuccessful attempts at retaining it. He wants the fame and everything that comes with it.

Doc adjusts the TV title on his shoulder. He turns around facing the camera, smiling slightly he continues speaking.

Doc: Athletes like us could retire and live off of what money we've made from endorsements and other things like appearances, but who would remember our names? Eventually we'd fade into the darkness just like everyone before us. We have too much pride, just like Achilles before he set sail for the beaches of Troy. Thetis his mother came to him, he voiced his opinion of war and how he did not want to fight in this war. Thetis told him, that if he stayed he would be married, and he would be celebrated by his family as a great warrior, but eventually his name would wear out through the years, but if he set sail for Troy and fought in the war, he would die, but stories would be written about him and his impact on the war, he would be a legend. Everyone knows how this story ends, just like Achilles, we go out to that ring every night knowing that it could be our last, and pull off amazing feats that most men could not just so you remember our names.

Doc turns around and points to the banners that hang from the rafters of the Bell Center.

Doc: But what does it take to build a legacy? Take these men for example, each of these men worked hard, played hard, and gave it there all there whole career, and they get immortalized by having there number retired. I'm sure these men like myself, were not considered great players til they were established, they were probably overhyped, until they proved themselves. That's where I'm at right now, It seems no matter what I do here in NEWera it's never a worthy accomplishment. If I win this Endurance Challenge, it'll be oh Doc you beat a bunch of nobody's and never will's wrestle someone worth a shit. Did I ask for any of this hype? No I didn't, the way I live my life and the things I do are separate entities, If I party so be it, If I womanize ring announcer girls, so be it. I back up my talk in the ring, that's what my legacy will be about.

Doc walks over sits down in one of the seats near him. The view from there great, you can practically see everything in the arena from there.

Doc: They put me in this match against 5 other NEWera superstars and expect me to not come out on top. They think they can take this title off me by getting 5 of NEWera's wrestlers on a hot streak. They think if they stack the deck on me, I won't come out on top, but time after time, I rise to the top like the cream of the crop. It just seems like it's me against the world anymore. Travis Blaine keeps setting them up and I keep knocking them down and like any good underdog I keep upsetting the favored foe, until eventually you can't call me an underdog. So, keep counting me out, I will just keep proving the doubters wrong all the way to a world title.

Doc takes the TV title off his shoulders and places it in his lap.

Doc: First of all though, I have to get through this match and the people in it, starting with Mike Miller. He's already out there talking about how I'm going to sit here and say that I already beat him once and I'm going to discredit him as a worthy adversary. That's the complete opposite Mike, now you know what to expect out of me, but I honestly can say I still don't think your ready to compete on the level I'm at. I'm on my way to the World title, you on the other hand will be struggling to stay over .500 in the win column. You might come at me with a different approach, you may do better than you did in our first match up, but your just not ready to step up in competition. You try to play mind games by calling me by my government name, you say that no matter what happens in this match I will have continual support from the likes of Jens Jett, Ramos, and Emma McKnight, but the truth is their opinion doesn't matter, they're not out there performing in the ring, I'm the only out there performing. Anything I do is all on me, so good ahead, study all the tape you want on me, because I'm still going out there to embarrass you and the odds are in my favor that I will embarrass you again.

Doc looks down at the TV title in which is his most treasured possession, working his ass off to beat NEWera's Golden Child, Matt Starr twice in a row, then defending it against the aforementioned Mike Miller.

Doc: Then we have Jason Matthews, who's literally one of the unknowns in this match. I mean I'm sure he'll come out here and be like “No one knows about me and that's why I'll win”, but the thing is Mr. Matthews, it doesn't matter if I know your every move or I've never seen your face at all, your not impressing me with anything you do. You have no swagger about you, I mean beating Christian York is pretty much your biggest accomplishment, which really is no accomplishment at all. Beating guys that try to be me and fail is no accomplishment, there is only one Doc Holiday, all imitators will fade away with time. Just like you will fade in time, just make sure you talk mainly about me in your promo since that's what everyone else is doing, your just a minority in mine while I am the majority in everyone else's, just ask Misty Lyn.

Doc chuckles a bit as he runs a hand along the front of the TV title, resting below the name plate that reads “Doc Holiday”.

Doc: I must have struck a real nerve with you girl, last time you spoke my name I could feel your anger as if something got to you. You run around saying all these hateful things, about how I'm doing nothing, but still getting all the attention. How I walk around with a bunch of people that kiss my ass and sleep with lots of women. How I never finished college, because I ran out of scholarship money, but what I want to know is where you see anything wrong with any of it? Are you jealous? Are you jealous that ever since I've blessed NEWera with my presence they've pegged me as a future World Champion. Outkast has said it, Bombtrack, and Troy MOTHERFUCKIN Turner has even said it, the list goes on but these guys are the only ones that really can validate a future superstar. You say they don't mention me in the same breath as Triple B? The reason that is true is, because I do shit by myself, unlike you I don't rely on someone else to have my back, every victory I obtain is by my own hand and people respect me because I'm my own man and I don't ride the “Feel sorry for me because my friend is dead” train. Maybe you should play that all the way to a world title? I mean it's worked for other workers in the past, why not you? You know were the weak link in the group and when you two got in your little tiff, your win was a flawed one. You think a win over a drugged up Kayla Jade is the start to justifiable singles run? That's not even a good start if your Demarco Gudex, but then a few victories over some second tier superstars, now your a singles superstar!? To quote you, 'bitch please', let's name a few, starting with Blake Blomberg? Flaked. Kise Kazama? Flaked. Autumn Waterfall? Wow beating on a pacifist, good one there *Doc gives the thumbs up gesture* all your singles victories have been charity cases. What else can you do for the attention or gratification you need? I mean I'm sure you could play the lesbian card like Zenna and Linnea, but let's face it you were the original dyke, it just didn't work out for you as well as it does for Zenna. I mean your the one that admitted to having sex with a woman, I just threw it out to get a rise out of you, not knowing whether it was true or not, but now we all know about your dykish ways now. Sure you got a boyfriend, but we're all really wondering about his sexual orientation as well, nigga I smell cover up. At Endurance Challenge I look forward to beating you the most.

Doc goes silence for once, he had said quite a lot about the so called starlet, but he wasn't done yet, 3 were down, 2 still needed to spoken about.

Doc: Next up in the Endurance Challenge is a wrestler I have a legitimate respect for, James Stall. The guy came into NEWera at the same time I did, made just as big of an impact as I did, and will probably be a future NEWera Hall of Famer like me. Now I'm not blowing up his ego, I'm just stating he has my respect, but that doesn't mean I'm going to just sit there and be afraid when he comes to the ring, I'm going to go at him like a honey badger, because I don't give a fuck. I'm going into this Endurance Challenge trying to retain this title and James is just another man trying to take it from me, so I can't just not go after him in this match, to beat him I have to go hard for as long as the match goes on, because I knew he'll do the same, he wants this title around his wast just as much as I want to keep it around mine.

There wasn't much to say, even as cocky as he was, Doc knew that James Stall was a legitimate contender to his title. Doc stretched his arms outwards, he was a little restless, he couldn't wait for the time to come when he would be down there in the middle of the Bell Center in one of most anticipated matches at The Challenge Series PPV.

Doc: At last, I get to this motherfucker named Iron Heart. For a man that is supposed to be so scary he sure does look like a great big masked pussy. I mean so much that I might get him and Misty Lyn mixed up. He talks about how he is so good, twisting his words around to make him sound like a worthy adversary, but simple facts are, words don't win wars. I don't know if your familiar with the book “Art of War” by Sun Tzu, but based on this book everything your doing shows weakness. In the book Sun tells us “If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he maybe arrogant”, this is you to a tee, sorry if this gets to you, as arrogant as you are, this shall be your downfall, for arrogance and claiming you've already won this match is a very stupid thing to do. While I, myself have been known to be very cocky in the past about saying I was going to win, I have been very smart about it, just like Tzu also says “Now the general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple ere the battle is fought. The general who loses a battle makes but few calculations beforehand. Thus do many calculations lead to victory, and few calculations to defeat: how much more no calculation at all! It is by attention to this point that I can foresee who is likely to win or lose”. I have a game plan going into this Endurance Challenge, sure you may entice me to go solely after you, beat you to retain my title, but the fact of the matter is I have to pin whoever or submit whoever it takes to keep this around my waist. While I may not have faced someone like you yet, it does not mean I cannot beat you. The question is simply can you beat me? I've faced a bevy of talent her in NEWera, you've faced like 2 opponents, Autumn Waterfall and Ivan Gurlokovich. Facing me is a whole new walk in the park and so are the other people in this match. You can go ahead center all your attention on me, but what you don't realize is you have to face more than me and my 'A' game at Endurance Challenge. This is World War 3, Where will you stand when the dust clears? I know where I plan to be, STILL NEWera TELEVISION CHAMPION!

Doc stops talking, the tone in his voice punctuates the sentences. Doc stares off into the empty Bell Center, where Sunday night his Legacy will come to fruition. The beginning mark of a historical career for Doc Holiday. The scene fades to black.

(OOC: I decided not to code shit anymore)
