The scene begins in the Los Angeles residence of former NEW Television Champion, Matt Starr. After NEW’s recent Fear Itself event, Matt had quickly left for home without so much of a word to anyone. Not that it mattered to most. Priest was probably the only person Matt has any contact with in that locker room. The self-proclaimed Internet Sensation sits on the couch in his living room. His eyes are fixed upon his television screen. On the screen in front of him plays the NEW World Title match he lost against Outkast about a month back. This has been the scene in this house for the past few nights. It’s become almost like an obsession.

Matt Starr: ”Was this really the best I could do?”

No matter how many times he’s watched this match, this same question comes to his mind.

Matt Starr: ”I could have beat him. I know I could have.”

Matt says to himself, as he remains enthralled by his first attempt at the NEW World Championship. Without Matt’s knowledge, Tea enters the room and walks up behind the couch where Matt sits.

Tea Ramirez: ”It’s 3 o’clock in the morning, Matt. You need sleep.”

Matt shakes his head without taking his sights away from what he is doing.

Tea Ramirez: ”You’ve watched this like a million times by now. Don’t you think you should give it a break? By now you could probably just relive the whole thing in your dreams.”

Matt Starr: ”I already do.”

He mumbles, as Tea just shakes her head.

Tea Ramirez: ”I don’t see what good watching this match over and over is doing for you. What do you hope to gain?”

Matt grabs the remote control off the table in front of him and finally puts the video on pause. He then shakes his head.

Matt Starr: ”What do I hope to gain?”

The answer to that question never once crossed his mind, until now.

Matt Starr: ”Honestly, Tea. I’m not hoping to gain a thing from watching this. It’s more of motivation.”

Tea gets this puzzled look upon her face, as she mouths the word “motivation” to herself.

Tea Ramirez: ”I’m sorry, Matt. You lost me with that one.”

Matt lets out a slight sigh, before tilting his head back and looking up at his lovely intern/girlfriend.

Matt Starr: ”I have been watching this to constantly remind myself what I’m fighting for. I came damn close to winning that title off Outkast, but since then I’ve been in quite a slump.”

Tea Ramirez: ”So, you’re saying that losing your NEW World Championship shot against Outkast took away your abilities?”

Matt’s head soon drops, as he cannot help but chuckle at the absurdity of the question.

Matt Starr: ”No, Tea. That’s not what I mean. I can’t just lose my abilities to wrestle. You say my matches with Doc Holiday. I’ve not lost a step. I just couldn’t deliver. Yeah, I may have also underestimated him as well, but that’s not why I lost.”

He says frowning, as Tea come out from behind the couch and takes a seat next to him.

Tea Ramirez: ”I get it. It’s another confidence thing, isn’t it?”

Matt goes to shake his head again, but stops and ponders her question.

Matt Starr: ”I don’t think.”

Tea reaches out and places her hand on his chin, before turning his head toward her.

Tea Ramirez: ”It’s okay if it is, Matt. Remember I’m here for you. You can talk to me. I may not know that much about wrestling, but talking this through with me has to be better then what you went through with that whole Steffi Miretti situation.”

Matt gives off a light smile.

Matt Starr: ”I know you’re here for me, T. I don’t know what I’d do without you sometimes.”

Matt’s words make Tea blush a little, as Matt grabs her arm and pulls it down.

Matt Starr: ”Don’t worry nothing like that is wrong again I promise. As you can see, I’m not acting like some shell of my former self or displaying any of my behavior from back then.”

Tea Ramirez: ”I know, but that doesn’t mean anything. You could be hiding it.”

Matt gives her the “Whatchu talkin’ bout Willis” look, before replying.

Matt Starr: ”Like I could hide it.”

He says, shrugging.

Matt Starr: ”You know better than that. I can assure you there are no problems like that going on here.”

Tea Ramirez: ”Okay, then tell me what kind of problems are going on then. You can’t tell me nothing it wrong. You’ve not acted a whole lot stranger than usual, but you’ve still acted strange for some time now.”

Matt turns his head back forward, before leaning a little back.

Matt Starr: ”Honestly, I don’t know what to tell you. A lot of it is disappointment. I’m a little upset with myself for not being able to keep my promise. I know I am capable of winning the World Championship.”

Tea Ramirez: ”If that’s the case, then why did you lose the T.V. title to Doc Holiday?”

Matt Starr: ”I don’t know.”

He says, running his hands through his hair slowly. Tea just shakes her head, as she is unsure of the legitimacy of matt’s answer.

Tea Ramirez: ”You’d think that if you were disappointed in losing a chance at one title, that you wouldn’t go out and lose a different one. Especially twice in two weeks.”

Matt sighs again, before dropping his head.

Matt Starr: ”The Television Championship was important to me and I didn’t want to lose it, but Outkast was right. I was too content with holding it. It’s better off in Doc’s hands.”

His words bring a look of surprise to Tea’s face.

Tea Ramirez: ”So, you’re saying you threw the Television Champion matches?”

Matt shakes his head.

Matt Starr: ”That’s not what I said. I would never throw a match.”

Tea Ramirez: ”But you just said that the title was better off with Doc.”

Matt Starr: ”Well, it is. That doesn’t mean I threw the match. I lost to Doc Holiday, because I wasn’t able to beat him on those nights. Maybe somewhere inside of me the loss to Outkast may have convinced me that I needed to let go of the title, but I didn’t intentionally throw a title match.”

Tea raises an eyebrow in confusion.

Tea Ramirez: ”You mean to tell me that your brain sent your body a subliminal message to lose both matches to Doc Holiday?”

Matt can’t help but chuckle, as he turns his head back toward Tea.

Matt Starr: ”No…well maybe. I don’t know. What I am basically saying is that my mind wasn’t completely on those matches. I was too preoccupied with losing the World Championship match. I already know I can be the Television Champion. I need to know if I can actually represent NEW as its World Heavyweight Champion as well. I’m not going to know that by obsessing over the Television Championship.”

Tea Ramirez: ”I agree, but you are also not going to know that by re-watching the only match you’ve had for the thing over and over either.”

Matt Starr reluctantly gives Tea a slight nod.

Matt Starr: ”I guess you’re right. I’m already motivated to win it enough.”

Tea pats him on the cheek, before giving off a nod of her own.

Tea Ramirez: ”That you are. With that said you should get some sleep. So, you can get some actual preparation in. You got a match Saturday. I’d say it’s an important one too. If you really want to know if you can be World Champion, then you need to turn your sting of loses around with a win here.”

Matt Starr: ”Yeah, I know. It’s a qualifier for the Six Pack Challenge. I’d say competing in it may be my last chance of seeing if I’m actually the uncrowned World Champion.”

Tea shrugs, before giving off a loving smile.

Tea Ramirez: ”I wouldn’t necessarily say that. You could get another shot down the road.”

Matt Starr: ”No, T. If I don’t qualify for the six pack challenge, then I won’t be getting another World Championship shot. That’s just how I see it. These qualifiers lay the foundation for this company’s main event scene moving forward. If I don’t beat Reno Taylor, then I feel that my chances have all passed.”

The Machine member says with a look of seriousness.

Tea Ramirez: ”I don’t truly believe that, but if it is how you feel, then I guess I will.”

Matt Starr: ”It is truly how I feel. If I don’t win this, then it’s basically time to decide whether I want to stick around and fight for things that are below the World Championship that I know I can win, or if it’s time I left NEW behind knowing that I’m good enough to do anything aside from being the World Champ.”

To Matt that is truly what this upcoming match with Reno Taylor was about. To some that may be shocking, but right now for Matt it is either be the best or don’t be anything at all. He’s determined to show Outkast that he has it in him to be the World Champion. Now it’s the time to do that. He knows that Reno won’t be easy. Especially now that he has apparently parted ways with his Ace High tag partner, Jack Erickson. Reno is going to want to show that he can succeed here in NEW on his own and a beating Matt Starr to earn a World Championship shot is a great way to earn that.

Matt isn’t about to let that happen. Winning this match is too important to him. Win here and not only does he break his recent string of bad luck, but he also proves to himself that he can contend for the World Championship and that’s truly what he wants. Reno Taylor isn’t going to play spoiler. Matt knows that this win won’t be made easy, but it isn’t going to stop him.

It's win or go home and Matt Starr doesn't feel like going home.
