Note: I wrote this much earlier today, while at work (it was a slow day). Unfortunately, the wireless internet of my hotel lobby and my laptop do not get along, so while I could log on through my iPod... I could not post the roleplay. In any case, this was written before Tyler Graves posted his RP and should not be seen as a rebuttal toward that. I'd given thought to editing this some, and making a proper response, but I feel I should post it as originally intended.
Fear itself. This would mark Adam Jones’ third Pay-Per-View event under the New Era banner. It seemed strange, but to think of it, he had hardly believed that he would come this far. Joining New Era’s roster hadn’t been the most planned decision he’d ever made. It had been months upon months since Jones left the wrestling community of Supreme Wrestling. That experience had been a fiasco within itself, and Jones hadn’t been in a hurry to return to that kind of atmosphere. He thought his wrestling days were behind him. He was wrong. Call it an itch that needed scratching. Call it a wild impulse that sent him to New Era. Whatever it was, Adam felt a calling to answer. He joined New Era, but never expected it to be anything but a wild fling for the summer. He thought he’d wrestle a few matches, get whatever it was out of his system, and call it a night. Fast-forward a few months, and three Pay-Per-View’s later, and Adam was now more determined that he’d ever been to see it through.
He stands at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his luggage trailing behind. He’d just arrived for the upcoming ‘Fear Itself’ event, after having taken a short four-day excursion through the Muir Woods of San Francisco. It had been a good retreat for Adam, he’d always been the kind of guy who loved the outdoors, and the scenery was beautiful. Now, however, it was back to work. His father tries to keep pace with him, feeling worn and weary from hiking through the woods. Adam is in high-spirits, though, and looks forward to getting started on his training regime. His opponent, once again, is Tyler Graves. A man who has become steadily more of a nuisance to Adam’s career at New Era. Though Adam had won his last match against Graves, the issues between the two of them had remained unsettled. Adam was eager to settle things.
ADAM JONES You okay back there, old man? Do I need to slow down for you?
Adam chuckles. He’s teasing, but his father isn’t seeing his humor.
PATRICK JONES I could run circles around you, boy. I think you‘re forgetting just who took you on your first hike, who taught you how to surf, and who brought you up your first mountain. It‘ll be a long, long time before I need you to slow down!
Adam smiles, and laughs. He slows down a little as Patrick Jones briskly huffs ahead and takes position at the front, walking up the doors to the stadium. It takes Adam a moment to catch up.
PATRICK JONES What‘s the matter, was I too fast for you?
Adam scoffs, shaking his head in rebuttal. Such was the nature of their relationship as father and son. Though they often took jabs at each other, they were nothing short of encouraging to one another. Patrick was proud of his son, and Adam knew this. It seemed as though no time had been lost between them, though in truth that was not the case. Still, it was good to maintain relationship like this. It was the very reason that Adam had been able to devote himself so fully to his career. There nothing like a father’s support lending to the foundation which you stood upon.
PATRICK JONES After you, twinkle-toes.
ADAM JONES Whatever, bubble-butt.
They head inside the arena, Patrick closing the door behind Adam. Adam glances at the stadium map, and makes his way to where the locker room is located. They proceed through the maze of obstacles that the New Era crew is constructing in preparation for Fear Itself, and finally come upon Adam’s dressing room.
PATRICK JONES Alright, let‘s make this quick so we can get out of here, check into the hotel, and get some rest before training tomorrow.
Adam opens up his locker, tosses in his bag, and closes it up for the day. He looks around, surveying the room, and sighs. He’ll be back soon enough. Patrick looks at him, nods, and they head to leave. No sooner are they out the door do they hear a noise -the sound of crashing, coming from around the corner. Adam goes over to investigate. There, standing outside the supply closet, is a man Adam’s never met before.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS I uh---… sorry. I thought this was the bathroom. I‘ll clean it up, promise!
It looked as though the Tasmanian Devil, of Looney Tunes fame, had been through the place and left in a hurry. Instead, there was only this meek, awkward looking man with a worried expression etched over his face.
ADAM JONES Don‘t sweat it, man. Here, let me help. Dad, why don‘t you go ahead and check us into the hotel? I‘ll be along later.
Adam’s father nodded his head, and bid his goodbye with a simple wave as Adam bent down and began picking things up and putting them back into the supply closet. The man seemed eternally grateful, and dubious as to Adam’s purpose in helping.
ADAM JONES So uh… you a fan or something? You know Fear Itself isn‘t for a while…
The man shook his head, laughing lightly at the suggestion.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS Me? A fan? No way, man. Name’s Johnny Bloomers. I just started with New Era, I’m an interviewer.
Adam looked over the man again, a little more thorough with his judgment, and had to stop himself from laughing.
ADAM JONES First day and already wrecking the supply closet? You‘re off to a bad start. Hope it‘s not an omen…
Adam regretted his playfulness, as Johnny seemed to take a serious offense.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS I… just need a break. Man has to make his mark. If I don’t score a good interview right away, management might think they’ve made a mistake. I need this job…
Immediately, Adam took pity upon him. He was in a sad state, it almost depressed him just looking at him. He knew then that he wanted to help the guy out, in whatever way he could.
ADAM JONES How about you get that interview… with me?
Johnny seemed genuinely shocked.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS Y-y-…you?
Adam smiled.
ADAM JONES Yeah… I am the Good Doctor. Might not be the biggest draw New Era offers, but I think I’m liked enough. Besides, I’d like to get a word in against Tyler Graves before he gets the chance to one-up me. So how about it? You down to get that first interview?
Johnny nods.
ADAM JONES Well, alright then.
Adam slaps Johnny across the shoulder, a little too hard it seems as Johnny gets knocked right into the door, and forces it open -spilling out the contents of the supply closet once more. Adam shakes his head, takes a breath, and goes at it one more time.

It’s been an hour since Adam Jones first encountered Johnny Bloomers, New Era’s newest interviewer. In that time they’ve set up an impromptu set for the interview, complete with chairs, a blank backdrop, and the New Era logo in the background. Bloomers now finishes setting up the camera and sound equipment, and they’re good to go.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS You ready?
Adam nods.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS Alright, in 3... 2... 1... Good evening, viewers at home! This is Johnny Bloomers, the most handsome man with a microphone bringing you the hottest interviews you‘ll ever see on behalf of New Era Wrestling!
Adam was more than a little surprised, little Johnny didn’t seem as bad on the mic as he thought he would.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS I’m standing here with Adam Jones, The Good Doctor, who is heading into Fear Itself in a grudge match against the one and only Tyler Graves. These two have marked more than a few ill sentiments toward each other in the past few weeks. Graves made his return recently to New Era, attacking Jones after a match which he was victorious in. The two have since fought against each other, but that match did very little to resolve the conflict between them as Graves’ actions took a more serious tone. Adam Jones, my friend, what do you have to say heading into this match and how do you feel going into your third Pay-Per-View?
Adam takes hold of the mic now, given turn to get his word out. He smiles, pausing for dramatic effect, and then speaks.
ADAM JONES Tyler Graves. You know, I’ve met a lot of sanctimonious assholes since I started wrestling. I’ve even been the asshole, once or twice. But I can’t help but hand it to you, Graves… you’re quickly rising to the top of my douche-o-meter. Furthermore, and it really irks me to say this… but there are few people in this world, whether they be wrestlers or just regular people I’ve met in my day to day life, that make me question my faith in humanity.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS Question your faith in humanity? Are you sure you’re not stretching a bit far with that claim, Doc?
ADAM JONES Alright, alright, yeah… that’s a bit much. But allow me to explain. When you first came back and attacked me out of left field, I thought alright -here’s a guy with a chip on his shoulder. I was alright with that, I could deal with it. It wasn’t, after all, the first time I’d ever been attacked. But then you had to open your mouth and insult my credibility as a wrestler. Alright, I thought, it wasn’t the first time that had ever happened either. But you went a further degree. You proclaimed yourself as some kind of shining example of what devotion to this business meant. You placed yourself on a pedestal, claiming you were a paradigm for wrestlers everywhere. You said that this was in your blood, this is who you were, and that a guy like me even daring associating myself in any manner with this profession was an insult to what you stood for.
Alright, that’s cool. But it’s all bullshit.
You’re a hypocrite, a moron, and you might be so full of shit that you flushed your brain down the toilet. As I said, I’ve met assholes in my time spent wrestling. I’ve met sinners, I’ve met saints. Young and old. And I’ve met some real athletes. But never have I met someone who spewed forth such nonsense as you. You wanna call yourself a wrestler? Fine. But that doesn’t make you one. Your actions in our last match proved that to me. I might have been performing spinal surgery back when you were suplexing some guy’s head through the canvas, but I’m ten times the wrestler you’ll ever be.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS Bold words, Doctor Jones -do you have a plan to secure a resolution to this affair at Fear Itself?
Adam laughs.
ADAM JONES Plan? I already know what to do in order to pin Graves for the one, two, and three. My only plan is to show Mr. Graves just what wrestling is all about. The kind of wrestling my brother did, before he died, the kind of wrestling I gave up my life to pursue. Only this time, I’m not going to leave myself open for Graves’ poor excuse of what he calls ‘wrestling’. You see, Tyler Graves is little more than a self-entitled prick that thinks if he can use a strong voice and wear a menacing glare, people will suddenly listen to what he has to say and accept it as truth. But there’s only one truth I’ll accept. The truth that I can see, feel, hear, touch. Truth is, you don’t have what it takes to handle an opponent like me. I doubt you have what it takes to make it in that ring at all. And I’m going to expose this truth completely. You hear me, Tyler Graves? You’re a fraud, a phony… you’re the real insult to this profession. It’s time you accept this, and learn from the genuine article. I’ll take you to school, bro, so pay attention. As a good friend once said, the truth… will set you free.
Adam tosses the mic back over to Bloomers, who awkwardly fumbles it around in his hand before catching it. Staring intently at the camera for a moment, Jones finally walks off set and leaves Johnny with the rest.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS You heard it here first, folks! Adam Jones has made the declaration to expose Tyler Graves as a fraudulent hypocrite at Fear Itself! Will he make good on his promise, or will Tyler Graves stand victorious with his hands in the air? Tune in to Fear Itself and find out! This is Johnny Bloomers… signing out!
Bloomers stands there for a moment, frozen, and then relaxes after the segment ends.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS Thank God that’s over. I’m sweating like a pig! I think I almost shit myself…
The cameraman signals for him to stop talking, pointing at the camera. A little red light is blinking…
JOHNNY BLOOMERS We’re… still broadcasting???
Johnny turns as pale as a ghost.
JOHNNY BLOOMERS NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Mr. Bloomers then heads off set, screaming in a panic as the promo comes to an immediate end.
