It had been a few weeks since any of this had mattered, almost a month if more since Gavin was last seen on TV. He felt out of it and down on his luck being placed in a dark match in his own home town. But maybe that’s what he needed, a wake-up call from Travis in his hometown to tell him to get his act together or else he will be treated as nothing if he wants to contribute nothing. As everyone seemed to be getting ready for Fear Itself Gavin had been left off the card, not as if he wasn’t surprised but yet it seems to of gotten to him as we slowly come into scene. Shifting through an almost dark room we hear someone begin to speak.

“An Afterthought, that's all I seem to be of late.”

We hear Gavin mutter out as he sits alone inside his Boston apartment, the lights dimmed and from the angle we can see Allison sleeping inside the bedroom down the hall through the opening of the door.

“And you know what I don't blame anyone for making me one. What have I done that makes people recognize me who what I've done? What is it that makes me that person who had everyone on their toes? Who am I to strike fear into someone's eyes at the very idea of facing me.”

Pausing for a second Gavin takes a sip of water from the glass in his hand.

“I gave this business everything I am and from it I was burned out, hit my wall at 24 and it's a shame. I never wanted to become that guy who was seen as unreliable and unfit for work. I let myself down once before and it cost me my job for it. Maybe I should of been on hands and knees and thanked Travis for giving me my job back but did I?”

Gavin asks as he tilts his head up to the ceiling.

“Nope, I went and I fucked it all up by showing up a haggard mess in the main event of NEW Generation. I've been so strung up on me own self and got wrapped up in a depression that I forgot to suck it up and carry on with my job.”

With his teeth clamped close we see Gavin hunch over and rest his head on his forearm.

“But yet here I am mumbling about my past failures like anyone gives a shit.”

Standing up Gavin takes a few steps to the kitchen area of the open room and braces his arms on the counter, looking down at the sink as he lets out a deep sigh.

“Mumbling about my chances that I’ve blown over and over.”

Turning the water on we watch as Gavin places his glass into the sink, letting the water run for a few seconds. [/b][/color]

“I guess you could go back and say that maybe Psychosis was right when he said I lost my fire, maybe trying to match wit and metaphors with him had gotten to me to the point that I was dry and stale, over promoted and a faded reminder of what I had once was.”

As Gavin tilts his head back up we hear something shatter.

“I used to be something in here; I used to be that person who was at the top of the world. For 6 glorious months I was the face of this company. Each opponent I had been given was just another victim on my mile long list of poor souls who had the shit luck to pull my name as there next opponent.”

Looking down we watch the once clear water turn a bright red, pieces of glass scattered around the sink as Gavin just looks at his bleeding hand.

“And maybe that’s why I am here talking right now, remembering times of greater success and when I actually meant something to this company. And I have to comment Outkast for his idea, an open challenge to the whole roster and his choice gets to decide his winner.”

Turning the water off we watch as Gavin puts his back to the counter and slides down; placing his hand onto the ground and letting it puddle around him.

“And he’s right about some things, about how the time of guys like Xavier Magnus and Dean Jones need to come to an end, and how this new wave of New Era Wrestlers could use this shot as a way to further their career. A title victory and they are the top of the world, a loss and it’s nothing too major. Sure it’s a loss but a loss to the champion would be just as good as a win. To claim you came inches from victory can only make you want to fight harder the next time they get this chance.”

We See Gavin make a fist with his bloody hand, the blood slipping through the cracks in his fingers as he tilts his head up.

“But what a lot of these guys lack isn’t the drive to become a great champion but the drive. They lack the drive to bleed yourself dry just in the sake of victory, they don’t know what it’s like to lay motionless in victory with a puddle of your own blood forming around you.”

With his bloody hand Gavin runs it through his hair as if remembering better times.

“Guys like Doc Jones and Zenna don’t know what it’s like to lay everything you have on the line night after night. Not knowing how physically and mentally scared you will be after such a battle is something the frail mindset of this newer generation.”

Lifting himself up Gavin grabs a hand towel off the oven handle and wrap his hand in it.

“Outkast I am not asking you to pick me because of my prior accomplishments in this ring, or of the things I have done to get where I am. I am not asking you to pick me because I am down on my luck and in need of this title shot like a junkie needs a needle.”

Running the water Gavin unwraps his hand and puts it through, cleaning the red stains off and showing the few cuts that caused such a massive amount of blood to be taken.

“I say this because I have nothing to lose and you nothing to gain. All I am is an afterthought of former glory; you beat me it’s another victim to your mile long list. I beat you and nothing will come of it. I will still be labeled off as a black mark that got lucky.”

Letting out a sick, sly little grin Gavin looks down at the sink, swirling with the remains of his blood as it goes down the drain.

“I have nothing to lose out of this, and with nothing to lose I can’t lose a thing.”

On those words we watch as Gavin drops the bloody towel into the sink and makes his way down the hall and into his and Allison’s room where he closes the door behind him. A second or two later we hear a little shriek from the room before its quickly hushed as Allison is seen running across the hall and grabs Gavin yet another towel to wrap his hand in as the screen slowly fades out to static.
