Fade in. There it is. The phone. Storm has been waiting for this moment. The timing... It can't be anyone else. It has to be him. His hand shakes as he reaches for his phone.
Don't let the hand shake. Don't come off as desperate. Let it ring once or twice before you answer it. Don't come off as desperate. Hand, why are you shaking? Stop it! Okay, it's time to get it.
Storm breathes in deeply. His hand weakly grasps the phone and brings it to his ear.
"Hello? Yes, this is Michael Storm. ...Oh, hello Mr. Blaine. ...I'm doing well, how are you? Yeah, I'm fine."
Pause.
"Yes, I am excited for Fear Itself. I'm guessing you're letting me know who my opponent is? I'm sure there's no need to tell me who my opponent is. I'm up against Mike Miller or TD from White Man Inc., right?"
Pause.
"What do you mean yes and no?"
Pause, yet again. (What do you expect? It's a phone conversation.)
"Mike Miller, huh? So I'm going one on one against that son of a bitch that attacked me after my match with Linnea LaCroix."
NO PAUSE! (Just kidding, there is a pause.)
"A ladder match? With Hisoka, Misty Lyn, Linnea LaCroix and Nate Rivers too? Oh, wonderful. For the British Commenwealth Championship too?"
Michael Storm shuts up for a second as he just realized what he said.
"WHAT?"!
Michael Storm begins shaking all over again.
"So six of us in the ring and whoever is the one who can grab the championship becomes the champion itself? You can count me in. Yeah, okay well thanks a lot, Travis. Oh and one more thing. After the match, you can refer to me as the British Commenwealth Champion, Michael Storm - The Prince of Pain. Yeah, bye,"
Michael Storm hands up the phone then looks up at the camera.
"And that's all she wrote. Look at me, I deserve this title. Sure, I may not be British like our former champion, Nathan Kaye but hey, does that really matter? None of my opponents at Fear Itself are British either, but I'm the only one of here who is royalty. What part of Prince of Pain do none of you understand? The Prince part should be enough, but the fact that Britain is known for their bloody past of beheadings, treasonous punishments and the rule of law that closely resembles the rule of the streets... believe me, it's all about the Pain."
Michael Storm sits down. He thinks about the match and about his opponents as well.
"There is no way I can avoid him so I'll mention him upfront and get him out of the way. Mike Miller, you are a coward. You were trying to convert me to your little cult and when I refused, you attacked me. That's not the bad part though - the bad part is that you didn't do it to me face to face like a man, you did it after I've become exhausted from my match. Even then, I still kicked your ass. Now when I look at a picture of you on the NEW.com website or hear your name, I think things that I shouldn't. In our match, I should just let someone else take care of you and focus on the belt, but I feel that all I want to do when we're in the ring is beat the living shit out of you. I'll send you down to the ground so hard that you'll even end up being too low for White Man Inc.
Storm takes a deep breath as all the anger and hatred is expelled from his body through the exhale. He continues.
"And you, Hisoka. Mr. Grinning Jester. I look for a match with you. I've been wondering what it was like to lock up with a man such as yourself, who has the magic fingers... literally. Ever since Vindication II, my first show in New Era Wrestling mind you, I saw as you main evented Countdown to Vindication and took down Brad Valley. Pull all the laughs and underestimate me if you will, but I promise that I won't go down without a fight and I'm not going down as easily as you may think. Plus, if memory serves me correctly... I don't know how long you've been with this company for but since the time I signed the contract and been known as a member of this company, we have the same record. Won three, lost once. The difference is that I lost to one man and you lost to three... You had three different people to worry me and it was for the number one contendership to the World Heavyweight Championship. What does this mean? Maybe you can't be the winner when the stakes are this high. Hisoka, we'll see."
Storm smiles then continues again.
"Which brings me next to Ms. Linnea LaCroix? First off, I want to congratulate you on a very well fought match last Friday on NEW Friday Night. I may have won, but you did not make it easy and I will always look forward to every match that we will have on this point forward, including the one we will have on Fear Itself. I really wouldn't mind it if I can't win, that you would be the winner. Don't mistake the words that I'm saying, I don't expect to lose because I feel that this title is as good as mine, but if I can't win for some reason, I would want you to win because you're next on my list of people that would give that championship the respect that it deserves and you're the only one I know that I've worked with that I actually respect and admire. I hope that you're sleeping better and are less stressed. ...but with all that aside, I don't want you to think that I'm going to give you a boost up the ladder for the title because I will do everything I can to win. I don't mind putting my Thumbs Down and showing you why I'm the Prince of Pain. This. Is. Mine."
Storm points to his chest when he repeats those last words.
"Then last... but definitely not least. Mind you, Mike Miller is obviously least. ...is Nate Rivers. There's really not much I can say about you. Honestly, I don't know much about you. All I really know about you is that you beat someone as weak as a masked pretend Brazilian superhero or luchadore who calls himself Orochi. Granted, he did win with great skill and authority. (OOC: I wrote that match. ) but I don't know what Travis Blaine did when he put you in a match with the rest of us. You're in the major leagues and I don't want to sound rude but I don't want to feel bad ripping apart someone as fragile as you. Though, to display sportsmanship, I do wish you the best of luck. Train hard."
Storm pauses with a deep breath. He knows the hardship he faces ahead of him if he is to win this match.
"That's it. I mentioned I need. These are all my opponents and until I win, I cannot trust any of them. I may respect many of them and I may trust them on a normal day, but not today. As far as I'm concerned, I'm the biggest threat to anyone else for the British Commonwealth Championship. I'm the one who is most likely to win the match because when it comes down to it, I'm the one who shines greatest from Britain's past. I'm the one who strikes down the blade with greatest precision. I deliver the most amount of pain and my word is law inside of that ring. When I decree victory, victory lays down in front of my feet for the taking. I will tear down the competition and I will show them that I will stop at no lengths whether figurative or... in this case, vertical. I am the Prince of Pain for a reason and it's time for me to reclaim royalty."
Storm closes his eyes and reminisces on his goal... the reason why he came back to the sport of Professional Wrestling.
"This is my chance, my opportunity to bring back Hardcore to this promotion, to my life. Ladders are involved. Heights are involved. When I add the spirit I have that represents the Hardcore spirit, I will revolutionize this place to send the message that I'm here and will shock this place by Storm.
The camera zooms in on Storm's eyes that shoot open. Fade out.
