Outkast
NEWera Rookie
[ * ]
Once again doing what he does best, Outkast sits in an empty Wachovia Center somewhere near the middle deck. The NEWera World Heavyweight strap rests in the seat next to him. His feet are kicked up on the chair in front while down below stage hands and technical representatives decorate the arena for what will be one hell of a show. Down in the ring the champ watches as another crop of young talent work the ropes making sure to hit every bump with precise technique.

It was just a few days ago when Outkast went to Travis Blaine with the idea of choosing his opponent for Fear Itself on a whim. The game plan was for whoever impressed him the most, they would be given a chance at the title.

The cameraman sat one row down and to the right aiming the camera at Outkast who never took his eyes off the ring.

Outkast
“I think we're passed the bitchassness stage, right? It's been weeks since I heard people complaining about their spot on the roster. It was almost as if everything I said fell on deaf ears. A little over a month ago there I was seated in the same position you see me now explaining how I would be the next World Heavyweight Champion and why it had to be me to carry this title. Every promise I made came true and I even kept my word about giving the next generation a chance to shine and avoid the politics and bullshit I had to deal with coming up in this business. But for some reason it still wasn't good enough. Instead of saying thank you, I received hate in return. I was accused of holding people down... people like Psychosis, Xavier Magnus, even Dean Jones.”

He turned his head toward the camera making an effort to show little emotion as possible. After all one of Outkast's main philosophies was never let them see you sweat. That is one thing you would never catch Marc doing.

Outkast
“What part of next generation didn't you people understand? Do you know what a prominent member of this organization told me? He would rather see another Psychosis title reign than give any up and comer a chance. Now, I understood his point to a certain degree. We don't need another Judge Death or Rig X on our hands. It's no secret that with becoming the face of a company, the world champion of a company, comes a curse of sorts. The main goal when you get into this business is to climb that ladder until you reach the ultimate prize... but what then? What happens after you've accomplished your goal? Everyone always says they want to become World Champion... nobody ever says they want to be a defending champion. Simply put, people lose interest. They feel as if they have nothing left to prove and quite frankly that attitude makes me sick.”

Outkast licked his lips and brought the title over to his lap to admire. His reflection made him grin a bit knowing he had accomplished just one of his many goals in obtaining this championship.

Outkast
“So in a way I understood his point. But me? I don't settle for anything. I always strive for what comes next and the next logical step after becoming champion is to defend that championship and I have and I plan on doing so at Fear Itself against no matter who I choose. That is the duty of a champion, that is what you are supposed to do as a champion. You continue showing up to work and you continue working just as hard as you did before you won the big one because if your only goal is to become champion... then you don't deserve what I have and you certainly don't deserve to be here or in that ring with me.”

The title held up slightly over our champions head showing the world or anybody watching the thing they crave the most. He lowers it back down setting it aside him.

Outkast
“This is professional wrestling, this is what I do for a living. I'm not out partying, drinking, snorting lines of coke off hookers asses like some here. I take this very seriously and if you don't... don't bother showing up at Fear Itself because I won't even consider you a formidable opponent. Come hard or go home plain and simple, I don't have time for games. And if you show me what I need to see, a new guy, a veteran, anybody, then you will get your chance to shine but don't think for once I'm handing you what I worked my ass off for. Don't you think for one second that this will be a walk in the park. If anything I'd like to think I've proven that I bring my best every single time I enter that ring no matter who is standing across from me. But hey... if I haven't proven myself to you yet, I have no problem doing it again and again and again and again.”

The workers in the ring continue to do their best to impress Outkast knowing he's watching them from above.

Outkast
“But if you plan on walking out on this company after Fear Itself then congratulations, you won't even be considered. To face me in MY ring... is a privilege, it is NOT a right. Now you can say you've changed your mind about leaving but it's too little too late. You have already made a mockery of what I do by possessing a shitty attitude and a holier than thou demeanor without backing up a single word. Simply put, if you want what I have then get over yourselves and go out there and do what you are paid to do. I refuse to coddle you, I refuse to hold your hand or tell you everything will be alright because it wont... nothing will EVER be alright, that's life, love it or leave it.”

Outkast positions himself back into the seat settling down a bit after raising his voice slightly.

Outkast
“Half assing need not apply, you know who you are. Tyler Graves, you want to retire? Then retire and stop wasting my time. Stop wasting not only NEW's time but every company you sleep through matches in. Jimmy Helmsley, nice to hear from you for the first time in four weeks. Looking forward to October fourteenth when we finally hear from you again. James Stall, get your head out of your ass and do work. Xavier Magnus, you don't need to weigh in on everything that doesn't concern you just because some chick said you didn't fuck her. Get your mind right. RAW, stop shitting on couches. That shit isn't cute and people think you're a joke because of it.”

You can tell the disgust he has for some people who just don't get it all over his face as he shakes his head in disbelief.

Outkast
“I went to bat for a lot of you and for the most part I'm glad I did. But some of you... some of you totally fucked off and disregarded every bit of respect I had for you. The one thing I hate more than people who take what I do as a joke, are people who spit on all the hard work I put in for YOU! Appreciate some shit in your life for once, you only live so long.”

Titling his head slightly towards the camera, the champ continues.

Outkast
“Autumn Waterfall, don't let me down. Ross Raines, don't let me down. Zenna Zdunich, don't let me down. Doc Holiday, don't let me down. Robbie Priest, don't let me down. Troy MOTHERFUCKING Turner, don't let me down. Because come Fear Itself... I'm not holding back, I'm not giving in, and I am NOT settling for anything less than perfection. Show me what you got.”

With that the camera pans down to focus on the young guys in the ring aiming to impress. If the roster didn't take Outkast seriously now, then they never would and it was all a lost cause.
