We see Matt Starr's intern Tea Ramirez retrieving a drink from the refrigerator. She shuts the door and then walks over the the counter and sets it down. Across from the counter, we see Matt Starr and Robbie Priest sitting, at Matt's kitchen table carrying a conversation.
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Priest, but I'm still confused by something. How can you guys go from talking bad about each other and fighting over tag team gold one moment, to teaming with each other the next?"
Both members of the Machine stop their talking and simultaneously look over, at Tea.
"Mutual friend, similar problems?"
"I get it. So, you think you can win gold now that you traded partners?"
Tea asks, as she takes a sip. Matt smirks slightly and begins to talk.
"Yes...Tea that is exactly what we are going to do. I don't know about Jess, but Andrew Cage was a man that I wasn't going to get anywhere with."
Priest shrugs.
"Jess... is a little eccentric and tends to wander off at times. Right now he's decided to actually be a stand-up guy with a woman... for once. How long that will last, beats me..."
Matt nods his head and pretends that he understood what his new partner said.
"Yeah, me and Priest here talked a bit, before Gav brought him into the group. It seems like we had the same goal and it just seemed like a good idea."
Tea takes another sip, of her drink and then joins them, at the table.
"So, you guys don't know how well you are going to work together then?"
"Does anyone really know hoiw well they will work together before they attempt it?"
Priest asks. Tea slightly shakes her head, as she pulls the can away, from her mouth.
"I guess you have a point there. You seem a lot more level headed then Drew was. Let's hope the two of you do well together."
Priest rolls his eyes at the mention of that name.
"Dubya... God what a bloody waste..."
"I'll admit he wasn't the pick of the litter, but I thought it was a good idea...at the time."
Matt says with a chuckle.
"So, you guys know who your first match together is against?"
Matt scratches his beard, as he looks toward Tea.
"I believe it's some Silentstroke guy and Christian Bale."
He says with a laugh, as he looks over to Priest for confirmation.
"Silent Stroke is a guy who's claim to faim is that he stalks Kayla Jade.. and apparently indulges himself in self-gratification on a regular basis and.. that's it really. Ryan Avery actually appears to have some modicum of talent."
"Ryan Avery?"
Matt looks toward Priest with a puzzled look, on his face and a raised eyebrow.
"I thought you said we were facing Christian Bale."
"That's the bloke's name... from what i've seen he thinks he's Christian Bale in that bloody Psycho movie."
Matt shakes his head, as Tea does her best not to laugh at him.
"Sounds like you might not have too much problem with them."
She says with a smile. Matt runs his hands through his hair and leans back, in his chair.
"Sounds like they were just randomly thrown together to me."
He says in a cocky tone.
"They were, but if you underestimate every pair of blighters thrown together, that's when you start having your ass handed to you by every pair regardless of whether they're random or not. And if you start now, well... let's just say it's whole lot more fun to remember that even the most talentless dog still has teeth... you wanna watch your ass when you'regoing to get that close to them."
Matt straightens back up and looks toward Priest.
"I know....I know. Didn't say I was underestimating em. Just saying that they don't really sound like a team would go together well."
"To be fair neither do you guys."
Priest smirks.
"What, you don't think a British rock n' roller playing straight man to an American with an over developed sense of his own self worth sounds like a team that can work?"
"Honestly, I don't see how anybody can get along with Matt, for more then two minutes."
Tea smiles, as Matt sits there with a sour look on his face.
"Gee....thanks, Tea."
Matt drops his head and stares down, at the table
"Love, have you ever met Jess Amazing? The man is an incorrigible screw-up who always manages to allow his nob to get him into trouble, usually somehow ending up in various states of undress running from all manners of male counterparts that wish to do him bodily harm for shagging their girls. He always reeks of marijuana, is constantly on the look out for all manners of selfish gratification and considers himself the Lord and Master of the Universe... in short, Jess Amazing believes himself to be god and we're all here simply to indulge his whims... and I teamed with that for years. What can the Starrchild here do to top that?"
"Priest, the dude owns a production company just to hear himself speak."
Tea points out, as Starr raises his head back up and stares bullets toward her.
"Yes he does and do you know the real reason why he has his own production company? Do you know why.. he NEEDS his own production company? It's not vanity or because he just likes the sound of his own voice because any idiot with a computer, a webcam and a couple of bucks can do that with youtube! No... Matt Starr has his own production company because he was sick of what the establishment was doing to him. He was sick of being told, "No Matt, you can't tell the truth... no one wants to hear what's really going on... it hurts too much!" He needs his own production company because the Hollywood Machine had decided it couldn't handle him anymore and wanted to shut him up... Hollywood doesn't like people who know how talented they really are.. they like people to work within their system, their... machine... because they want you to think you need them more than they need you... but Matt Starr is proof.. that if you make your own Machine... theirs doesn't work so well anymore..."
Priest says with a nod, as Tea just stares at him in shock. A smile returns to Matt's face.
"And you wondered where we got the name from, Tea."
He says sarcastically.
"No offense Matt, but I seriously doubt that you are smart enough to think of that."
"You'd be surprised. See Priest here, is the product of a machine as well. Here's a man who's father went to war for this country and how did they repay him? By making sure when he came back his body didn't work and he had a host of demons holding him down. And the people all looked and screamed "Baby Killer!!!" at him for helping protect their right to protest his very existence....and the machine looked at their product and called it defective and tried to re-indoctrinate Priest, but they don't take kindly to those that realize living their way, by their rules usually ends with you being crushed by the very machine that produced you in the first place."
Tea still looks a bit surprised, as Starr's smirk grows.
"Now this new Machine is going to show everyone else that we are not bound by their expectations and that we work just a little bit better then they do. Right Priest?"
"You didn't let her in on this then?"
Matt shakes his head to Priest's question,
"Not really. I figured she didn't want details. Should I have?"
Priest shrugs.
"I just thought you were closer than that mate, but if you keep it on that level, who am I to tell you that you're wrong?"
"We are...I just didn't think she wanted to hear all about how we came up with the name of our tag team. Did you, Tea?"
He looks over toward Tea, who just shrugs.
"I mean I wouldn't mind knowing this stuff. You know I am not really that smart when it comes to wrestling, but you know I'll care about anything you tell me."
"Don't worry about it love, I tell my wife what she wants to know too. If she told me she didn't want to hear my plans, i'd respect that too."
Priests says with another shrug. Tea blushes a little.
"Well, me and Matt aren't involved like that at all. We just have a business relationship."
Priest nods knowingly.
"Trust me love, you're as close to being his wife as anyone is going to get. You do everything for him, you do anything he asks and you do it without question or hesitation. You are utterly devoted to him... the only thing you don't do is shag... and looking at the two of you, neither one of you would complain if you did that too."
he pauses
"In short, you are more important to him than any other woman could ever hope to be, married or not."
Both Tea and Matt are speechless, as the look toward the other and then back toward Priest.
"I'm going to change the subject."
Matt says in hopes, of this conversation not getting any awkwarder.
"Like I was going to say...now that I have got that problem with Jacob taken care of, me and Priest can turn our attention to taking over the tag team division."
Tea looks over, at him a bit confused.
"Speaking of Jacob."
She says, as Matt turns his attention back toward her.
"What?"
He asks with a little bit of concerned.
"I have been meaning to ask you this since International Incident. Before Swan attacked him, Jacob mentioned something about a secret he had on you."
Matt looks a bit nervous, as Tea continues.
"Is there actually something he knows that the rest of us don't?
She asks, as Matt quickie shakes his head.
"Secret...there is no secret, Tea. Jacob is mentally fucked up. I mean he is soo nutty that he has a group of squirrels following him around. You really think he has something on me that nobody actually knows?
Tea seems a bit unsure, as looks dead at Matt.
"Well, he was your cell mate. I mean he could know something that you are too afraid to admit to anybody."
Matt can't believe what he hears.
"Tea, do you really believe that nut? I told you there is nothing that I am hiding."
Tea gets up out of her seat. She seems a bit annoyed, as she walks out of the room. Rage fills Matt's eyes, as he lays his head down, on the table. Priest sits forward.
"Right... well, that soothed it over, mate."
"I know."
He says sarcastically, as he raises his head up.
"Just wish she believed me."
Priest nods.
"You'll think of something."
"I hope so."
Everything has been going well for Matt the past couple weeks. With Jacob Grey having his attention turned toward the Black Swan, he thought that he had nothing to worry about, but his last match left many with questions and Matt really doesn't want to give anyone any answers.
Hopefully things will just die down on their own and Matt can focus on going, after the tag titles with his new partner. The Machine has been building for the part little bit and this Sunday they get their chance to show what they can do together.
The tag division better watch out, because nothing is going to prevent this machine from working.
