The agent of Udinese star Mauricio Isla has confirmed Liverpool are among a host of top clubs chasing the versatile winger, reports The International Business Times UK.

The 23-year-old’s representative, Leonardo Rodriguez, told of the Merseysider’s interest in an email exchange with the IBTimes UK whilst also confirming that there are other potential suitors from Italy.

Although Rodriguez had no problem in stating that Liverpool were one of the clubs interested in Isla, he also implied that he was unaware of any official contact between the Reds and the Serie A outfit during the January transfer window.

“I believe he is being watched by Liverpool and by other clubs from Italy, I can’t be sure that any clubs are getting in contact (with Udinese).”

Isla joined the Bianconeri in 2007 and has since made over a 100 appearances for the Italian’s. Now firmly established in their starting XI the Chilean International has been an integral part of Udinese’s title challenge throughout the current campaign. His pacey, energetic, attacking approach on the right-hand side has helped him make a name for himself over recent seasons.

While a goalscorer is likely to head Kenny Dalglish’s summer shopping list further reinforcements in attack are a necessity as the Liverpool manager’s side have found it difficult to find a cutting edge on a number of occasions this season.

Dirk Kuyt, Stewart Downing, Maxi Rodriguez and Craig Bellamy have all had opportunities to impress on the Reds right-flank this season with only the latter offering any kind of success.

The Daily Mail claimed at the beginning of February that Liverpool were eyeing up a £12m summer swoop for the highly-rated Chilean, and Isla’s agent told the the IBTimes UK that his future would become clearer closer towards the next transfer window.

“Near the next market we will be able to inform with more accuracy.”

Among the other clubs linked with a move for Isla are Italian giants Inter Milan and Roma, as well as Russian Premier League outfit Lokomotiv Moscow.
