Background:
Serpent was a lowly tech sergeant in the Hunters, who was fairly competent at his job, but otherwise, didn’t stand out. That changed during the Eurasia Crisis, when by chance, he stumbled across a heavily damaged Purprill Mandroid. The half-dead pseudodroid quickly surrendered to Serpent, pleading for its life. Unable to bring himself to kill a helpless being, and eager for the chance to study one of Weil’s pseudodroids, which until now, were only rumored about, Serpent took him into his custody.

Upon bringing him back to base, Serpent and a cadre of other researchers studied Purprill extensively and rigorously, eager to duplicate Weil’s mysterious biometal technology. Using Purprill’s biometal as a template, along with whatever expertise he had to offer, Serpent and his team successfully reverse-engineered a series of biometals of their own. Emboldened with his success, Serpent had a vision: a new generation of machines utilizing his reverse-engineered biometal technology. Seeking more capital to advance his research, Serpent pitched his vision to Ms. Millions, who eagerly supplied him with all the funding he needed to found his own enterprise known as Slither Inc.

Shortly after its creation, Slither Inc. quickly poised itself as a powerhouse industry, growing by leaps and bounds as it produced a wide variety of mechaniloids and even some reploids, capable of adapting to any task, big or small by utilizing numerous different biometals infused in their systems. In fact, it was Slither’s mechaniloids that formed the backbone of the reconstruction force that rebuilt Arcadia from the ashes of Eurasia, making Serpent a hero worldwide. However, the nature and existence of the biometals remained a guarded secret to all but Serpent and a select few (Ms. Millions not included).

Serpent even acquired the struggling Loathe Drilling Industries. However, Serpent’s closest colleagues are still scratching their heads as to what bearing a failing, corpulent rumored loanshark had to Slither Inc. If they had to hazard a guess, it’s that Serpent was taken in by the shady world of loansharking, drug trafficking, hijacking and smuggling, and the money that could be used to further his research…or line his pockets. But whatever his motives are, Serpent isn’t talking. But now that Serpent and Lex Loathe have joined forces, they stand poised to reshape the underworld in their own image while making a fortune.

Personality:
In his younger years, Serpent was a simple, starry-eyed idealist who wanted nothing more to help people the best he could. How much of this man remains today depends on who you ask. But they all agree that to a certain extent, Serpent has grown aloof and secretive to even his closest friends ever since his meteoric rise. In addition, His fairly recent and secret involvement in more…illicit activities also raises questions as to how much of his morality is left. However, Serpent dismisses their concerns, claiming that the ends justify the means, and that his research has saved the world and will guide it in a new direction.

Little do his colleagues realize that Serpent has grown increasingly distrustful of those around him. Especially Lex Loathe, who Serpent knows is always up to no good. He’s especially protective of the biometals he’s discovered and created, guarding them jealously from even those deep inside Neo Mafia. About the only person he seems to confide to is Purprill, and whatever he says to him is behind closed doors. However, he still is every bit as driven and dedicated to his research as he always was.

However, Serpent tries to look past his suspicions, seeing as everyone in Neo Mafia has a role to play in his secret plan. Even Lex Loathe. He puts his plan above all else, and will stop at nothing to see it through. Even if it means sacrificing all of Neo Mafia in the process.

Weapons:
Serpent secretly carries a biometal he fashioned himself. Upon activating it, Serpent is instantly decked out in formidable battle armor, but has yet to test it out in actual combat

Powers and Abilities:
Serpent has no powers and abilities to speak of on his own. But upon donning his biometal armor, the following powers become unlocked:

V-Shot: Fires a barrage of dark fireballs in a v-shaped spread from the busters built into his armor’s fingers.

Annihilation Blast: Serpent can charge up his blaster to unleash a slow-moving, but destructive sphere of energy that devastates all in its path.

Scorch Sweep: Serpent can perform a fiery sweep kick that can send even the toughest foes reeling.

Skydrop: Serpent can teleport directly over his enemies and perform a downward, fiery kick with lethal results

Overdrive Mode: Serpent can briefly double the strength and speed of his attacks by increasing his biometal’s power output, a trait shared by all biometals.

Tidbits and Trivia:

Would someone like telling me why we almost got Sari Sumdac before this guy? Anyone?

Sample of how you will role play this character:

The sun’s golden rays had just started shining through the plate glass windows to Serpent’s office. But the CEO/researcher hardly noticed it. He spent all night pouring over a battery of police mechaniloid schematics, pausing only to sip a cup of coffee at his desk. Serpent had spent several weeks and thousand zenny fine-tuning them. But with a few minor adjustments to their biometals’ DNA matrices, they could pave the way for something far greater than their creator had ever imagined. As he scribbled a series of semi-legible notes in the margin, Serpent noticed a floating white robot with pointy red and blue shoulders drift into his room.

Oh, what does Lex want now? Serpent thought impatiently, frowning as he sipped his coffee. “What is it, Spade?” Serpent asked with strained patience, as he cast the schematics onto his desk, narrowly missing his coffee cup.

“Sir, there was a slight delay in the Holeb Operation. Nothing serious, mind you. But we’ll have to wait a bit before that town starts…contributing as planned,” Spade explained emotionlessly. Serpent said nothing as he propped his head on his desk. The plan to strongarm that backwater town out of its hard-earned money was mostly Lex’s idea. While there was some considerable cash riding on it, it was by no means Slither Inc.’s only money-maker, and it wasn’t of much use beyond that.

“…Is that all?” Serpent asked plainly as he resumed looking over his schematics, jotting additional notes as they popped into his head.

“…Well…Yes,” Spade answered somewhat hesitantly, sounding surprised and relieved by Serpent’s ambivalent response.

"For a second, I thought we had a real problem. There are plenty of other ways we can get that town to play ball. Your boss is a creative man. I'm sure he needs no guidance in that department. As long as that town contributes by the end of the month, there's nothing to worry about," Serpent reasoned, as he started thumbing through his schematics again.

"...As you wish," Spade responded, shrugging his shoulders. Bemused, but apparently relieved to be spared of some imaginary reprimand, the intergalactic man-servant turned to leave Serpent to his own devices.

“Wait. As long as we’re on the subject, have Jack Bahmer and his team of footbombers settled their debt yet?” Serpent asked, not even looking up from his notes. The bemused Spade simply cocked his head, dumbfounded.

“The footbombers?…Well, no, not yet. My boss thought they weren’t a priority. Their debt’s not nearly worth as much as Holeb’s,” a puzzled Spade answered. Serpent growled in exasperation as he set down the schematics, his gaze meeting Spade’s. Why did the man who all-but-singlehandedly brought the world back from the brink and built the empire before them have to explain himself to an over-glorified gopher?

“Because their debt’s been standing longer than Holeb’s. Because we can make an example out of them to Holeb. Because it’s something your boss won’t end up getting ‘delayed’ for a change. Take your pick. Just tell Loathe to have Furio Tigre to come down on those deadbeats, and bring them here, kicking and screaming if he has to. Apparently, it’s something I have to handle myself if we’re ever going to get it cleared up. Now get to work,” Serpent ordered, his delivery deadpan.

“Tch. Have it your way. I’ll pass your orders on to my boss,” Spade responded after a long pause, bowing before Serpent. Serpent couldn’t help but smile at the bemused Spade as he left. Clearly, he didn’t have a clue as to the significance of the footbombers to Slither Inc, which is how Serpent liked it. Though it may not look like, but they were of far more use to Slither Inc than some tenacious hamlet. Should Lex ever figure out the true purpose behind Slither Inc and Neo Mafia, Serpent and his dream would be torn apart by a pack of wild dogs. And with him, the fate of the world. Serpent had come too far to lose it all to some small-minded thug like Lex Loathe. His determination renewed, Serpent buried himself in his schematics, making more notes as he sipped his coffee.

The fine line between insanity and creativity
Loathe: Am I really that unappealing? I mean, I don't mind Serpent, I just don't like sharing everything with him.

Approved.
