I have a query - I am currently on List 3a, and live in the north east of Scotland. I am hoping to start the upgrade process to List 2, but have a problem with finding 2 people who I feel would have sufficient knowledge of my judging abilities to write a reference for me. We have 1 list 2a and 3 list 2 judges in Scotland, but only one of these I would feel confident would know enough about me to approach. The 2 trainers I use are both BHSI's but do not to my knowledge have riding experience tp PSG level. Although I am familiar with some English higher listed judges, I do not feel that they have seen enough of my judging to write a reference. How do I proceed further? |

The revised wording about the new upgrading system is now on the BD website and is either on this website (or will be very shortly). It says “Candidates will be expected to have personal and practical experience, riding and/or training to a satisfactory standard at the level at which they wish to judge. Their judging experience at their current level will also be considered where applicable” CVs need to be either from judges who know the candidate well enough to testify to their experience and knowledge of the intended level, or a trainer who has satisfactorily trained pupils to this level and has been involved in the candidates own training. The central issue seems to be that judges should have sufficient experience of the level that they can command the respect of the competitors. I realise that this is not a black and white answer but it is not a black and white issue and undoubtedly living where you do makes it hard to get experience at these higher levels. I think you would need at least to be able to make a good case re your capability as a rider and other factors that would enable you to command the respect of competitors. |
