This code of conduct applies at all times when acting or attending competitions in the capacity as a British Dressage judge, regardless of whether actually judging at the competition. To be considered in conjunction with the current British Dressage Rule Book. 1. Judges should act with integrity and always put the sport and the horses welfare first. 2. Judges should be: (i) Honest and Open (ii) Respectful to riders at all times (iii) Objective, fair and unbiased 3. Judges should always conduct themselves in a professional and appropriate manner when acting in any official capacity. 4. When at a show or acting in any official capacity judges should be considerate and respectful to other judges, competitors and show officials. 5. A Judge should not conduct themselves in a manner detrimental to the character of and / or which may be prejudicial to the interests of British Dressage. 6. While officiating at, or attending any British Dressage event it is inappropriate to drink alcohol or be under the influence of any medication or substance which may effect your judgment or conduct. 7. Judges should not solicit organisers for future invitations. 8. Your opinion and comments on any of the combinations you have judged should be heard only by your writer and / or any person(s) invited to sit-in with you, and shared only with the competitor in question. Be careful not to discuss particular tests with anyone else. 9. Be discreet at all times. 10. Avoid judging any combination with whose training you have been involved with on a regular basis, unless exceptional circumstances demand it, for example, at very short notice. For this instance a conflict of interest must be recorded with the Organiser. This procedure must not be resorted to at a Regional Championship or a Championship. N.B. ‘Regular Training’ is defined as lessons given fortnightly and would include any training given in the two weeks preceding the competition. Please refer to the judge restrictions in the Judges panel and Rule book. |
