I personally think it's all of the above. Racism is a problem that needs a resolution NOW. I'm sick of all the race-bating, insulting of others for who they are, and what people believe in. I want to know is why assholes still do this. Does it really fucking matter if someone is different than you? If their skin cells make them a different color, or they believe in something different than you, or if they live a lifestyle you don't happen to like? In the end, you'll realize it doesn't and none of those things matter. God won't care if someone is different, you shouldn't either. Racism does no good in the world, and simply divides people and nations. People typically think racism as referring to one's race, I think it also applies to one's personal life, age, religion, handicap, economic status, sexuaility, and even personal choices. There is discrimination and hate to those wheither you want to admit it or not. Prejudice is just as bad as racism. Prejudice is basically pre juding people before you get to know what they are really like. People need to know people for who they are, despite what propaganda, the mass media, and what other biased sources may tell us. We should not so quickly not buy into sterotypes and automatically think that there those in the sterotyped group who are not like the so-called majoirty. I'm not giving examples, as that'll probably offend some of you. These problems do need a solution, though I think racism and prejudice will be with us for a long time to come. Like we can't focibally change someone's opinion, that would be almost as bad as the act itself. For those of us who are Christian, you should know how wrong racism, hate, and prejudice are. It was one of the main things Jesus preached about. He also said we should be more tolerant and forgiving. If you don't believe me about that, feel free to look it up in the Bible. Granted, I'm sure we all have been guilty of this at one point in our lives. Even myself. Like I hate all rappers, though I know I shouldn't. What I'm trying to say here, is that all people, regardless of their religon, race etc should just stop racism, prejudices, and buying into sterotypes. If we did, just think about how much better off we would be. I apologize if this has offended you, but this is the way I think, and you can't take that away. I hope this has taought you something. |

If it were up to me, all politicians would have to wear lie detectors while giving out campaign promises. All faiths have a Golden Rule, but why don't people of all faiths follow it? Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. I think you all know who said that... | |

hear hear! very good post&topic Blue Hedgehog. i agree with you 100%... the hate needs to stop. also i think part of the whole prejudice thing is that people exploit other's faults...like people are prejudiced against me because i'm a fat chick who's white. but, apparently it's perfectly fine to be fat and black. *shakes head* i don't get it. i just don't. i could go on for hours on this, but since i don't want to be cited for flaming...i'm stopping here. |

Good thread BH, and it just may be one of the best here. I agree 100%. I never understood racism, prejudice, or sterotypes. The people who are racist and prejudice are hypocrites, bigots, and usually think they're better than everyone else. I don't give two shits what the media and other people tell me, I'm not going to judge somone because they belong to a certain ethnic group, follow a certain lifestyle, come from a different country, follow a certain religion, have a different sexuaility, or of a different economic bracket. I'll see their inner qualities instead of their outer. Racism gets us nowhere and needs to stop. Racists, people who buy into sterotypes, and those who are prejudice need to be slapped and lectured. If we all followed Jesus' example of tolerance, there'd be basically no crime, everyone would have a fair chance, and we'd all be seen as equals. |

A combination of "the above" is the PERFECT answer. It's really sad how this sort of thing affects us; even today! And about "black" people: Have some respect, folks! I'm pretty sure the first humans on earth were actually mostly anything BUT "white"... I decided to be concise. |

-=looks up from feeding his Nintendogs=- Racism and prejudice, while comprised of those reasons, all seem to date back to human reflexes. People fear what they do not understand. They fear any who are not in their "pack", who are unknown to them. They fear change, and fear difference. These fears cause them to act offensively and defensively around those they see to be different, to not be similar to them. Too bad everyone can't settle on the fact that, regardless of color, we are all still apart of the same pack: human. <3 |

People understand stereotypes, because stereotypes are easy to understand. You ask someone over here what an American is like, they'll probably say that they're a load of fat people in Hawaiian (sp?) t-shirts and cowboy hats which eat hamburgers. Which may be true for some Americans, but definitely not the majority of them. People don't like the idea of being different, so they pin it on someone else. :\ ...Sorry, just rambling there. XD; |

Well let me put it this way.... I'm sick of racism and I admit I am just a bit prejudice agianst arabs for one reason: 9/11. I'm sorry...you can never.....eeeeever...get over something like that. As all of you should know...I'm a young black guy. Does this mean I'm like every other young black guy? No. Also does this mean I'm like every other young black person, and any black person who still has this chip about the white race? No. Well there you go...that's why I'm dispised by alot of blacks....becuase I'm supposly this tradtor and crap. I'd rather be doing things in america to advance the blacks forward, becuase all they're doing is holding back themselves. I'm not a reflection of society, and you all know that. People are shocked when they learn about me and that I'm black. Why...becuase of society's view of blacks? It makes me sick to no end. I like being who I am, no matter how "white" these black sheeple think it is. I'm gonna contuine to be an american, becuase that's what I was born as. My roots started here. And please don't give me a history lesson. I don't have time to lsiten to your dirtabe of things I already know about the history of blacks in america. |

I think that the problem with racisim is that it affects the people being discriminated towards (The "discriminatees") more than most peopl think. Example? I DON'T WANT TO BE A RACIST, but I'm having a hard time when PRACTICALLY EVERY HISPANIC GUY IN MY SCHOOL IS A JERK. They probably do this because the whole "gang" thing is a Mexican stereotype: It breeds itself. More likely, since they're a minority, these dudes all know eachother and pass on the bad habits to their "homies". In a nutshell, I really do applaud Squirel for trying to turn things around. Maybe black people wouldn't get such a bad rap if an unfortunately substantial of them didn't act like idiots! |

I couldn't agree more T man. But, I know I'll be labeled an uncle tom by some black people all becuase I "dont back up my people". The only thing I can say about the mexicans in your school T man is that they gotta be illegal aliens if you don't hear them speaking english alot. These mexicans come to america illegaly, and has a beef with us becuase of the illegal aliens problem. Did you know there is a brown supremist organization called La Raza? Wanna know what the english translation of La Raza: The Race. Ether your stupid, or your a psychonut if you can't figure out that this political group is a bunch of racists calling themselves "The Race". These band of thugs support the illegals and the other shit that these ailens are doing in america...which hurts us. |

Because we all know that the Arab Nation as a whole is completely responsible for 9/11. ... Ha. No. Try again. The folks behind 9/11 were the radical types; the great majority of races/ethnicities/Relgions/etc. have them. Just look at the people who blow up abortion doctors or the persons behind the Oaklahoma City Bombings. Point is, not all Arabs want to blow up the US. |

That's true in a way Din, but this thread isn't about that and I don't want that brought up again. This thread is about racism and any off topic posts will be promptly deleted. Don't make me lock this. |

I get so sickened when idiots like al sharpton try to speak out for blacks, trying to repersent them....and all he does is embarresses them. I know that becuase...I'm black too. When me and neo meets at the prom this year, I know it may not be a friendly environment. Ignoramaces will look at us like we are some sort of tradors. And race baters will odvoiusly look at us and try to say terrible racial things about me and neo. Well you know what...I'm expecting it. Becuase me and neo...we're the future of america. Sure there's alot of inter-racial cuples, but are they ever profiled in the media? No. See with me and neo....I'm black...she's white. So what....is there anything wrong with that? Oh so just becuase she's my girlfriend...I'm somehow now "brainwashed" with "white people views and polices"? Drop dead to anyone that has that opinion of us. Oh so just becuase I'm her boyfriend...I'm somehow "brainwashing" her into becoming a "cookies and cream"? Figure that phrase out yourself. I'm sick of racism and race bating. Me and neo love each other becuase WE JUST DARN LOVE EACH OTHER AND EVERYTHING ABOUT EACH OTHER OK??? |
