I think he meant exactly how many posts you need for each dot, I was wondering that too... It seems random, though the amount needed for a dot increases with each new dot (like with EXP to the next level) Which explains why I have almost three times T_Man's posts, but only twice the dawts, and why you only have a few more than me, but a boatload of posts (unless it stops somewhere) 10 WOULD seem like a logical cut-off *shrug* |

I actually thought it was some kind of reputation system, but I conceded that's not the case. Know that I know, it's extremely unneccesary from my point of view. (Not to mention apparently inaccuarate) BTW: 10 as the cut-off would mean that by the time you have a relatively small 100 posts, you'd have 10 dots. Even most of the staff doesn't have that much, and we've got people here with over 1,000 posts! |

Didn't he means having 10 dots as the maximum? Anyway, I THINK it's built into Invision in some form or another, so you can't really remove it. |

Yeah, i think it's built into it as well. and yes, he did mean ten DOTS for a cuttoff... if you'll kindly look at mine, you'll notice the math doesn't work out for the number of posts i have if it's supposed to be ten posts per dot. and, FYI, there WILL be a reputation system at the upgraded JF. though, you're not getting the link to it until it's finished. or at least, that's how i THINK it will work. >__< |

The new JF will be Invision Power Board 2.0. We're taking this database with us, so there won't be any starting over. It looked very promising on the test board I had up. Very, very cool indeed. But a few things came up, and we're now looking at the beggining of next month for the move. To answer your question, the pips do represent post count. There are a max of 12, and I determined the post count for each, along with what their titles would be, if one should choose to use their default title. They are built in. On 2.0, those pips (by way of a special hack) will be replaced by reputation pips. |
